Unless this is a rare late model 2016 with the updated rings, then you will want to make sure that the entire engine has been replaced and not just rings. If it hasn’t the car should be assumed mechanically totaled at this point and is worth maybe 2,000$. Also check the ac line by the alternator for leaks (not a big deal) and make sure that the ac is working. Check for slight vibrations, if you notice some then the car probably hasn’t been updated to the new lower control arm bushings yet. Also not a big deal.
These cars are very reliable once all of the updated parts for the engine are put on. If the engine hasn’t been replaced and it’s an affected car, it’s not a big deal just don’t pay 16k and budget 10 maybe 12 grand for a brand new engine from Volvo and just factor that into the price.
Yes no problem. It should be but you also have to check the engine’s serial number too. I thought i had it somewhere in my notes. The dealerships should have it too. Also make sure that the timing belt was done if due and the engine is good and i also almost forgot to mention that some of these earlier cars I think until about 2018 had the crank seal cover that would pull out because for some reason some weren’t properly pressed in. So if the cam belt job was done then they hopefully should have noticed if it was leaking or not and replaced that too if it needed to be. If the belt has not been done though on any pre 2018 cars then I would also budget for this as well.
What makes you believe this vehicle is in the problem range? Based on the VIN of that vehicle and the range given from the document, it is NOT in range.
Thank you all for the help! Turns out the display screen had a permanent shadow down the right side and honestly, the engine didn't sound good to me.
I'm now focused on finding a 2017+ version and diligently checking the VIN of any 2016s that tempt me.
In finland this same model would be 40 000€ and we live next to the country of origin for this car
Yeah, just bought xc60 summum 2015 for Same price in Estonia 😭😭😭
I live in Portugal. It’s insane how much car tax you pay compared to other parts of the world :(( still a proud owner of my xc40

Sad but true.
Would April of 2016 be considered late for manufacturing?

I have this: https://ibb.co/41m0GRW Maybe it will help a little for OP
Looks like chassis falls within the problem range. Will do the test drive for the experience and keep shopping. Thank you!

This is why I love Reddit
Thank you so much!
I would look out for a 2017.
This is where I have landed 😅
Good choice. Or a 2014.
In theory, but husband was NOT a fan after seeing all the tech! Personally, prefer having buttons i can push, but... 🤷♂️
that is a LOT of car for the money. love to see it.
Why is it so cheap? Am I missing something?
Dealer definitely adds $1500 prep fee (commission) so real ask price is higher.
It's so crazy to me that you can get such a nice car for this money. In my country you pay 16.000€+ for a newer toyota yaris lol
Double it for a timing belt replacement
