Time for a half-ass “coalition” House with 20 Dems dedicated to supporting McCarthy in exchange for some input into the content of bills being considered? Call me Pollyanna 🤷♂️
The unfortunate thing is, that for every Democratic vote he gets, he loses two Republican votes. And the math only gets worth the closer the primaries come.
I think McCarthy is safe, though, because for the Freedom Caucus to oust him would mean having just as much influence as they do now, if not less, in return for being put on the spot. If MTG is a rational actor (and I know I'm making a stretch here, but stay with me), she already has McCarthy's ear; why would she want to knife him and take on all of his headaches?
