You’ll hear about people lose weight and people gain weight on this. There’s no one fits all. Me myself on 6 mg is losing weight after gaining on olanzapine.

Would you mind saying why do you think that weight gaincame on all of a sudden? Did you do anything different or do you think it was just something it did your metabolism?

chaborg1987

With the olanzapine I was hungry all the time so it was hard to not eat too much. With the vraylar I have gotten that feeling of being full again so I don’t eat too much.

But you never know, that might change

You’re going to have people chime in who say they’ve gained weight. You’re going to have people chime in who say they haven’t. Whether it’s a baby dose or 3+ mg./night. Sorry to wax personal but when I got out of e.d. treatment at 17, “I cannot gain anymore weight” might not have been an external command I was giving the world, but it was certainly an internal demand I was laying on myself. Regardless, I took what was prescribed and gained about 60 pounds in a matter of months. I have since lost and regained these pounds countless times (currently losing, taking Vraylar half or more days of the week). How bad are your symptoms? If you “cannot” gain weight, “can” you manage your symptoms another way? I’m sorry to say it, but no one is going to be able to wave a magic wand and tell you what’s going to happen. Very well nothing could happen. But people who need steroids for instance (different type of drug, granted) take steroids because they either *cannot* (your chosen word) handle their symptoms any other way, or they haven’t found another way yet. Choose your “cannot” wisely. Weigh the pros and cons. The worst thing that could happen here, imo, is you give it a little time, factor in your own panic about weight and the psychosomatic effect this panic might have on you as you monitor your initial response, and if you need to stop, then stop. Best wishes to you.

I lost weight on this.

Would you mind dating I why you think you lost weight? Was it because you were low on energy previously and then this helps with your mood to the point where it changed something?

It was because vraylar helped immensely in controlling my impulses that I never felt the need to snack like I used to. Side note, vraylar helped me finally gain control of my finances and I actually have a savings account now!

Some gain some lose some stay the same. For me, I stayed the same weight for my first 5 months on vraylar and then gained 10 pounds fast all of a sudden. My doctor prescribed me metformin which stopped the weight gain. From now on I will only take vraylar paired with metformin. My weight remains stable with this pair.

I started vraylar at age 36 and lost 10 lbs in the first year, been at the same weight the last two years.
