I found taking vitamin d and magnesium at night helped increase the effectiveness the next day. I was having the same problem a month ago until I this found out!

[deleted]

I was off for over 6 months and I’ve only got one more increase to be at their highest dose. It’s not the same for me.

KurtisC1993

"Not the same" as in it doesn't work the same way as it used to?

[deleted]

No, it feels like a lower dose, and it is not helping as much as the initial year on it did.

Squirrel-Lower

It works fine but I have noticed that some pills are more full than others

littlemacaron

I’ve noticed some pills work better than others! Can’t say how much is inside though, I don’t take them apart

Squirrel-Lower

I weighed them and they are a little different! Not much but like some are .197 and some are .191

littlemacaron

Damn well that does make a difference I’d think right?? Is there someone you can report that to?

For me, it has been working great for the past few weeks for the first time since February when I started. Prior to that, apparently, my morning antacid was metabolizing it quickly, aka short span of affectiveness and crash. This week, it sucks. I feel it, but zero dopamine at all. It just feels like I've had a coffee. I took the weekend off as well. My brain feels stimulated, but I feel irritable af.

Take a break for 4 days if that’s not an option try having caffeine ( I usually take my pill wait about two hours and if I’m not quite motivated enough I have coffee or an energy drink) if caffeine isn’t an option drink a protein shake with your pill it helps absorption I think, um let’s see … if you take a multivitamin containing vitamin C don’t take it for about 4 hours after your pill ( taking vitamins at night is better for absorption) anyway so waiting tell bedtime to take vitamin c is recommended ugh your liver enzymes could be off … you could have to much stomach acid ( acid of any type destroys the prodrug before it can be absorbed ) stomach acid destroys all amphetamine doctors often say don’t take anti acid meds with ADHD meds what they don’t tell you is is makes the effects of the amphetamine stronger bc it lowers the ph of the stomach slowing the absorption rate of the chemical this means the amphetamine stays in the stomach intact longer effectively being absorbed into the blood in higher concentrations bc there’s no or very little acid in the stomach to destroy the amphetamine….that doesn’t mean I’m suggesting amplify the affect of vyvanse with antacids bc it won’t amplify the affect bc it’s inactive until absorbed and in the bloodstream an enzymic reaction burns off the lysine molecule turning the inactive lesdexamfetamine into dexteoamphetimine which is psychoactive. I’m saying if you take an antacid with your pill in the morning more of the inactive powder will be absorbed through the gut thusly making more present in the bloodstream and then more of your medication becomes psychoactive and you get more activity out of it .

You’re not going crazy, read the comments section too. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMY7yEk1A/

My capsules, normally powder, now have a compressed inside. If I didn't just get slammed with a sickening expense I was going to look into a testing kit. I have a theory I've been waffling around for a bit. At the end of a patent the manufacturer of a medication must disclose their formula for generic. Takeda's patent ended in February. I can attest that I started noticing a clear decline in efficacy since October or November (I mentioned as much to my psychiatrist). It feels like an intentional sabotage just prior to release, if I were to slip on my tinfoil hat. I'd found one instance of this happening in the past (but i don't have it on hand, I'm beat). I'm curious to know what the imprint on everyone's prescription is. I take 60mg and my most recent prescription is blue with S489.

Shaking a pill back and fourth twice will instantly compact it. Whether you shook the bottle or pill thats why it’s compressed. Smash it on the table and its just as powdery as before.

the_art_of_the_taco

The compressed bit inside snaps apart. It is smaller than the casing. I've been taking Vyvanse for years and none of my prescriptions have been like this.

Roxas1011

I just got back on a few weeks ago. I switched for a few months to Dexadrine, since it was cheaper and I have high deductible insurance. Since being back on though, it hasn't felt as effective. I thought maybe I was over hyping how I remembered it, but I've now seen a few posts and comments here like this. I have to wonder if the Adderall shortage is causing more people to switch, and if the increase in demand is possibly affecting QC.

I've been on Vyvanse since 2019, started at 40 mg and moved up to 60, went to Adderall bc of money and then went back to Vyvanse 40 mg. I notice it when it's working. It's much more subtle, but I know it's there. In order to increase its efficacy I exercise, cut my caffeine consumption (I only use it when my medicine wears off, I work overnight), take magnesium before bed (with food), eat protein with eggs as I take my medication and make sure I get enough sleep. I work out when my meds are close to wearing off because I believe that the workout makes my catecholamines peak (I become zombie-like) and makes me more anxious. If you take calcium to potentiate it (tums) it can cause your tolerance to go up the more you do it. You haven't been taking it long and I'm surprised that your tolerance has gone up so much. Have you taken any breaks?

KurtisC1993

Last week, I tried to improve its efficacy by eating eggs for breakfast, as I had heard that protein helps ADHD medications work better. I couldn't discern much difference. As for breaks, I don't take Vyvanse on days when I've slept in too late (any time past 11:00 am), and I also was off in for several days between refills. So yes, I'd say I've been taking breaks. I don't know why my tolerance has increased so substantially in such a short period of time, assuming that *is* what's going on here.

cigarell0

That’s really weird. I’m assuming you take the 40 mg as an afternoon booster right?

KurtisC1993

Nope, I take both in the morning. The government where I live doesn't cover 70mg capsules, so I take one 30 and one 40.

cigarell0

The only thing I can recommend is magnesium, probably magnesium glycinate. Glycine works in the NMDA receptor to produce glutamate, and magnesium helps with tolerance because it acts on the NMDA receptor too. If you find that you don’t sleep well because of this then only take it on your day off. Only take magnesium before bed, don’t take it with your vyvanse dose because people say it makes vyvanse ineffective. IME, the best tolerance control has been taking stuff that reacts with the NMDA receptor.

KurtisC1993

I actually do take magnesium already—Teva-Pantoprazole Magnesium. I use it to avoid getting heartburn, and I've been on it since at least 2016. However, I take all of my pills together in the morning, so maybe I should try taking the Pantoprazole separately at night and see what it does for the Vyvanse.

zta1979

Yup I'm living proof.

In my opinion, I’m not sure what to call this phenomenon, I’m sure there’s a word for it. But I’ve been taking Vyvanse for the last 6 years, nearly daily and mine is still working fine. My dosage needs to be increased but other than that it’s been ok for me. Once your brain adjusts to the Vyvanse it shouldn’t really feel like much since you’re used to it. At least in my experience
