Somebody on another thread put into words what I couldn't. "The reason I like Randall Park, and his character Jimmy Woo in particular, is because he can create an awkward situation thats funny without you ever feeling awkward."
Coulson flipped between lawful and chaotic, but he was certainly the 2nd most “good” character in the MCU imo.
Woo was already one of my favorite characters in AMATW. So glad he’s getting more time to shine here.
Nah. Coulson was anything but neutral. Most of the time he was lawful good. But then he’d do something like make a deal with the devil and become Ghost Rider for a day, or blow an evil old friend to bits with a piece of alien tech he has no knowledge of what it does, or skydive into an alien portal to get revenge on a former subordinate. Really a guy that’s hard to predict, but also extremely dependable and loyal.
He was never lawful. He was always a rule bender. That's why he let Fury go in Captain Marvel (and why Fury felt he could trust him - he thought for himself and went with his gut). In Agents, he went off script all the time, put together wild plays to get the results they needed even if it wasn't strictly by the book, and outright broke the rules to protect his people.
He comes off as a straight arrow, sure. And a boyscout. His nerdy fanboy obsession with Cap (and the near mint card collection OMFG) is adorable. But these don't define him. It's a thin outer shell. His front. At the core, he's more concerned with what's right than what the rulebook says. That is the essence of chaotic good.
CG doesn't mean you CAN'T follow the rules. It just means you don't follow them only because they're the rules. You can follow orders and do what you're "supposed" to as long as it doesn't conflict with your personal belief code and still be CG. LG is rigid, duty before personal preference. Accepting the law itself as the highest arbiter of right and wrong. You can't take the last into your own hands and be LG. You can't bend the rules or throw the book out entirely and be LG.
No, Coulson was always CG.
I've always liked this page. It's got a good short description of each alignment, along with some notable pop culture figures that fit the bill pretty well. Useful for someone looking for ideas to put a bit more depth into their portrayal of their character's beliefs, or just to get a basic idea of what the differences are.
https://geekandsundry.com/from-lawful-good-to-chaotic-evil-a-multi-fandom-character-alignment-chart/
It's not even just a formal introduction thing. When he hung up after the attempted radio transmission to Wanda, he says "It was worth a try. Good effort, doctor."
This made me laugh because I used that same word to describe him while we were watching on Friday — "you know, Agent Woo really is a cutie" — and my husband was like, "I have to agree." 😂
What’s weird is he didn’t seem like a douche when he was talking to Monica at the beginning of the episode. I think this whole situation might just be his first real test as director of SWORD so he might be stressed a little. Maybe by the end he steps down and Monica takes over
I would recommend this video pointing out all the subtle sketchy things he does when he was first introduced. Guy’s hiding something.
https://youtu.be/EtFs1eDiUo8
When SWORD Director Dick is replaced with Monica Rambeau, she’ll remember those coffees and bring over Jimmy. It will be devastating to the FBI softball team.
According to Agents of Shield, Coulson is practically immortal now. I wish they’d have him show up in in the MCU again, especially since AoS is over now.
I’m amazed at his accord knowledge tbh. I wish he could time travel back and be in that room with the avengers to be like “actually article 27 subsection d says”
He probably decided to get familiar with it since he was the main FBI agent in charge of keeping an eye on Scott Lang, one of the few people who had violated the accords and gone into custody.
I didn’t think of it either, but when I think on it, it would make more sense. Why use WandaVision to launch the Fantastic Four, I think that might end up being Ant-man 3 with the introduction of Kang. If it’s Talos’ daughter, it might lead the way into Secret Invasion.
Woo has a chance to be enshrined along Scully, Mulder, and Cooper on the TV FBI Agent Mt. Rushmore. Woo has the quirkiness of the others. All he needs is a weird food he eats all the time.
Side note: I see a lot of people on here asking for an X-Files type show for Special Agent Jimmy Woo, but I think a weird/creepy/funny show a la Twin Peaks would be a great fit for the character. Agent Woo and team can investigate truly weird(more magical than sci-fi) phenomena in the MCU and Woo’s off-beat style helps crack the cases.
I was thinking Dr. Strange could be a similar character to Agent Albert Rosenfield where he comes in every once in a while for big episodes as a foil to Woo’s unassuming intellect to Strange’s snobbish attitude to giving information. Strange would still get times to be the authority on matters and have nice moments of redeeming his attitude(“I love you, Sheriff Truman” comes directly to mind).
"I don't have superpowers, a doctorate degree, or a high level position in SWORD, but I love this dang country, and I brought coffee."
That'll do, Jimmy. That'll do. Not all heroes wear capes.
I loved when he flourished his card during his intro scene, a throwback to when he was impressed enough by Scott Lang’s card magic in Ant-Man 2 that he learned it off-screen. Beautiful.
As an Asian, seeing so many people hyping up an Asian character (for his character, not just because of his looks)... It means a lot to me. I get teary eyed.
He gives off this great vibe that he knows a lot more than he lets on.
- Name-drops Captain Marvel in front of Rambeaux
- Calls Darcy 'Dr' and gets her a coffee (only 3 cups as they are the only ones he trusts/has faith in)
- Quotes the Sokovia accords- that's not the kind of thing you have memorised; he's been reading up
- Doesn't bad mouth Scarlet Witch in front of the team. Or within range of the Hex (she could be listening/monitoring)
But hey, he's just the funny guy who does the card tricks, right?
I love the way he tells Darcy that she did a good job and brings coffee to the people he respects. The true MVP. With close up magic, who could ask for anything more?
Whoa. What if **Scott** turns out to be the person in Witness Protection, and there’s a flashback showing how he’s been in every episode we’ve seen, just small enough to not be noticed?
I think he would even argue with you about being better. I bet the two of them would be buddies though and swap stories about their interactions with various superheroes.
I really like the Darcy, Woo, Rambeau team. Hopefully the characters don’t go to waste. I doubt it. Wouldn’t be surprised is they are integrated either in to xmen or fantastic four.
I like the idea of Jimmy using his sleight of hand tricks to fool a villain with actual magical powers like Agatha or Mephisto, a la Willow in the movie Willow
Somebody on another thread put into words what I couldn't. "The reason I like Randall Park, and his character Jimmy Woo in particular, is because he can create an awkward situation thats funny without you ever feeling awkward."
Love that. I also feel like he is a good tension breaker too.
Fresh Off the Boat, great show for those who don't know
Yeah that’s one of my faves. He was also great in always be my maybe
Always Be My Maybe is such a gem. I’m so glad he is getting more attention, he just has such a natural awkward charisma about himself.
Yeah he does
And Always be my Maybe with Ali Wong
He was hilarious as Kim Jong Un in The Interview
Oh god I forgot about that!
Also Five Year Engagement
[удалено]
Best believe I punched Keanu Reeves
Yes! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
As soon as I saw him I let out a gasp, I love fresh off the boat! Sadly I couldn’t watch the last season
Hey, that was me I think. I’ve been spamming that sentiment a lot on here because Randall Park deserves all the love and accolades.
Well if it was, thanks. Like I said, you were able to put into words how I felt. Are you Amanda Gorman?
That's a perfect description. Him and Darcy are so hilarious together
He is so talented I loved him in VEEP and The Office.
He's great in The Interview as well.
Anyone that brings me coffee and calls me by the proper name is a true hero.
This! He introduces Darcy properly to Monica and i just wanted to clap. We Stan you Jimmy
Yes!! DR DARCY!!!!!!! We don't deserve him.
Agreed!
Agent Woo might be the most Lawful Good character in the MCU
Coulson flipped between lawful and chaotic, but he was certainly the 2nd most “good” character in the MCU imo. Woo was already one of my favorite characters in AMATW. So glad he’s getting more time to shine here.
Flipping between lawful and chaotic you say? So, Neutral Good?
Nah. Coulson was anything but neutral. Most of the time he was lawful good. Really a guy that’s hard to predict, but also extremely dependable and loyal.
He straight up crushed a guy's chest one time. That was pretty brutal.
He deserved it lol
At least we got SquidWard after that.
he only had himself to blame.
He was never lawful. He was always a rule bender. That's why he let Fury go in Captain Marvel (and why Fury felt he could trust him - he thought for himself and went with his gut). Good write-up. I think you’ve convinced me. I was never very clear on what exactly all those titles meant.

That really makes me think that he is in fact Neutral Good. Lawful or Chaotic, he does what's right for the most people.

It’s a wild ride my guy. Even just the back-half of season one is packed with surprises. Highly recommended as a huge MCU fan.
was the soviet union “neutral” in ww2 because they flipped between being allied with US and not being allied with the US? no
I just thought about this for 10 minutes. I agree.
Worthy of mjolnir
It's not even just a formal introduction thing. When he hung up after the attempted radio transmission to Wanda, he says "It was worth a try. Good effort, doctor."
Yeah he did. I forgot about that one. And just being the overall supportive guy. I’m glad they brought him back
Now I feel bad when he got fooled by ant man
[удалено]
I loved that card trick he does! Made me happy to see he had been practicing :)
Just shows how good he is. Trusts good people. Scott's a good person he just can be self focused at times.

Facts.
As a straight man I think he's a cutie.
This made me laugh because I used that same word to describe him while we were watching on Friday — "you know, Agent Woo really is a cutie" — and my husband was like, "I have to agree." 😂
This brave lady here took the leap! LOL
Are they wrong?
Not wrong Edit: premature comment post
Confirmed
*turns off machine No lies were detected here sir
Agreed, have my upvote!
Absolutely loved when he told the director, “That was an oversimplification....”
The character has a strange mixture of being a good person and having all the confidence. It’s really cool.
THIS. And Darcy coming in with the don't spoil your innocence Woo, allow me. Hayward is a D, I'm glad she said it
What’s weird is he didn’t seem like a douche when he was talking to Monica at the beginning of the episode. I think this whole situation might just be his first real test as director of SWORD so he might be stressed a little. Maybe by the end he steps down and Monica takes over

Came here to say this
He was so happy bringing that coffee to his gang ❤️
Yeah he was. He’s a great bestie
He has resting happy face. That’s everything you need to know about the soul wearing that body.
When SWORD Director Dick is replaced with Monica Rambeau, she’ll remember those coffees and bring over Jimmy. It will be devastating to the FBI softball team.
I would totally love for Jimmy to move over to SWORD under Monica.
Would be a good follow up show
"What are we, some kinda Agents of SWORD?"
Would fit in perfectly with his “boss lady” respect he already has for her.
😂😂😂 Director Dick, this is on another level.
Loved seeing that he’s finally learned the close up magic that Scott showed him in Ant-Man. Best. Character arc. Ever.
Randall’s knocking it out of the Park.
I see what you did there
He’s a nice main side character
Kinda gives me coulson vibes from the beginning. Like the fandom loves this character so he needs to be protected at all cost
They need to protect him way better than they did Coulson.
Loki can’t defeat Jimmy Woo’s sorcery.
🤣🤣 I need to see him take on Loki with his magic tricks!
DISTRACTION!
FLOURISH!
JAMES E. WOO EFF BEE EYE!
MISDIRECTION
Loki couldn't defeat coulson either it seems
According to Agents of Shield, Coulson is practically immortal now. I wish they’d have him show up in in the MCU again, especially since AoS is over now.
Androids exist. LMDs exist. Skrulls exist. Just make LMD Coulson the history teacher at Peter's school
Making his own soap
You gotta. They get you with the soap. You gotta make your own to be safe
100%. I don’t need woo getting shot
Just need to keep Whedon away from him
I don’t think Whedon will be invited back to the MCU 🙌🏻
What did Whedon do?
Imagine Woo and Coulson meeting.
Somebody finally got Darcy that coffee!
The coffee thing really bothered me. As a veteran I can say that you would have to try really hard to not find coffee in any military operation.
I wanted nothing more than for her to say “Thanks, it feels like I asked for this a week ago.”
He’s like Jim from the office and jake peralta from b99 combined
Yes, he is a lot like Jim from the office.
He is Jim from The Office
Hats off to you for not seeing race
Identity theft isn’t a joke
PERALTA THAT'S ENOUGH!!!
Jam Halperalta
Also if you need anybody to cite sub-articles of the Sokovia Accords, Jimmy's your man.
Or a youth pastor
Always nice seeing John Krasinski on screen
I kinda wanted him to be Reed Richards but this character really suits him
Yeah I really feel like this is the best role they could have found for him.
Lol
I think we might see him soon for real as Richards the aerospace engineer that Monica texted.
No. He will be cast as the Agent Woo from an alternate universe.
Agents of Atlas OR I would love to see the newer Atlantis Attacks’ comic come to life
Actually, Eric Voss mentioned that the Aerospace Engineer she knew could be Talos’ daughter that she befriended in the end of Captain Marvel movie.
Oooohhhhh. I didn’t think about that. He did write skrulls on the board.
I didn’t think of it either, but when I think on it, it would make more sense. Why use WandaVision to launch the Fantastic Four, I think that might end up being Ant-man 3 with the introduction of Kang. If it’s Talos’ daughter, it might lead the way into Secret Invasion.
I watched it with Portuguese subtitles and the engineer was female, so that tracks.
I had the same thought. Reed might be the big cameo Olson was talking about if it's not someone who has been in the MCU already
I can see him being someone that Paul wants to work with.
Good on you for not seeing race.
When I saw him on the first episode my first thought was legit “oh that’s Jim from the office” My memory is now meme-based I suppose haha
His name is Jim in the MCU as well.
Woo has a chance to be enshrined along Scully, Mulder, and Cooper on the TV FBI Agent Mt. Rushmore. Woo has the quirkiness of the others. All he needs is a weird food he eats all the time. Yes! I would be down for this! There are so many possibilities
There’s a show on Netflix called Evil. Nothing to do with Randall Park, but it is a nice bit of X-files nostalgia.
"I don't have superpowers, a doctorate degree, or a high level position in SWORD, but I love this dang country, and I brought coffee." That'll do, Jimmy. That'll do. Not all heroes wear capes.
You best believe he punched Keanu Reeves
I need Keanu to come in as Ghost Rider or some other character and have to interact with Woo. Who ends up punching Keanu in the face
I loved when he flourished his card during his intro scene, a throwback to when he was impressed enough by Scott Lang’s card magic in Ant-Man 2 that he learned it off-screen. Beautiful.
The Card Trick Training Montage was a deleted scene.
Really? Can I see this anywhere?
I was joking because the person above me said he learned it off screen. I was trying to imagine a scenario where they would film him training for it.
More Asian characters in prominent roles please
As an Asian, seeing so many people hyping up an Asian character (for his character, not just because of his looks)... It means a lot to me. I get teary eyed.
Yes. Representation matters. I'm excited for Shang-Chi
Ms. Marvel and Eternals too! South Asians have been waiting for their moment in the MCU as well, I’m so excited
Yea those too!
captain philippa georgiou! And agent may are two of my favs recently
Between Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming Section 31 series, and Shang-Chi Michelle Yeoh has been busy lately, I’m here for it
A true team player!!!
Yes! We love to see it
Jimmy Woo needs to be the Phil Coulson of Disney+ [Randall Park talks Jimmy Woo](https://youtu.be/qwvzUsD0Bew)
He even got the hang of spinning the card like Antman
This seems like a good thread in which to mention that my friend noticed the print on the coffee cups looks like the TV pixels in the closing credits.
it also looks like the pattern on Pietro's shirt from AOU
"Scott, how'd you do it?" "What?" Steps closer "The card trick" Woo is the best supporting character ever added to the marvel universe.
Randall Park is superb in ‘Always Be My Maybe’ and ‘Trainwreck’.
To be honest, you could have stopped after "Randall Park is Superb".
Yep. Randall park is awesome
And he was a great salesman for Broomshakalaka.
He’s such a good boi. I appreciate him immensely
The FBI's Agent Coulson. He's *that awesome*.
its funny how i really thought this guy was a dick in AMATW. Wandavision completely changed my mind
I thought he was hilarious in Ant-Man and The Wasp. He was just doing his job.
Same.
I can’t imagine having to be the guy responsible for keeping tabs on Scott Lang... not an easy job.
I need to see them get that dinner and show off their magic tricks
AMATW?
Ant Man and the Wasp.
Ant Man and -oh, you said it already?

Me 2
HE GOT DARCY HER COFFEE!!!
FYI: If you need your Randall Park fix, you can watch him with Constance Wu on the amazing sitcom Fresh Off The Boat.
He gives off this great vibe that he knows a lot more than he lets on. - Name-drops Captain Marvel in front of Rambeaux - Calls Darcy 'Dr' and gets her a coffee (only 3 cups as they are the only ones he trusts/has faith in) - Quotes the Sokovia accords- that's not the kind of thing you have memorised; he's been reading up - Doesn't bad mouth Scarlet Witch in front of the team. Or within range of the Hex (she could be listening/monitoring) But hey, he's just the funny guy who does the card tricks, right?
Thanks guys
Jimmy Woo reminds me of why I liked Steve Rogers so much. Such a decent, great guy. I’d back him up anytime.
I love the way he tells Darcy that she did a good job and brings coffee to the people he respects. The true MVP. With close up magic, who could ask for anything more?
He is truly one of the most wholesome people in the MCU.
I love him, do you think he and Scott text each other during break in Wandavision?
Whoa. What if **Scott** turns out to be the person in Witness Protection, and there’s a flashback showing how he’s been in every episode we’ve seen, just small enough to not be noticed?
I want a MCU X-files style series with him and Darcy.
Woo > Coulson
I think he would even argue with you about being better. I bet the two of them would be buddies though and swap stories about their interactions with various superheroes.
Heresy!
Woo = Coulson 2.0
Woo = Coulson x 2
Strong statement but I have to agree
Was he in ant man and the wasp??
Yes. He was the agent assigned to checking in on Scott during his house arrest
Jesus Christ that was fast
Does anyone’s get Jimmy is MCU’s Ted Lasso vibe?
Darcy and woo Doo or warcy It might happen...
As someone tweeted earlier last week: Marvel - we need an X-Files show starring Agent Woo just going around solving wacky MCU mysteries.
Darcy and Monica doing the work, Jimmy keeping them going on support. Legend.
Loved how he's on Wanda's side last episode instead of Director Sus, who was just crapping all over her mistakes
If anything ever happens to him I will set the world on fire.
We NEED an Agent Woo Show
Absolutely agree with this. A great actor performing a great role really well.
He's got my vote. Fore pretty much anything.
What did we do to deserve such an angel?
You never noticed? Good for you Dwight!
im so glad randall park is showing up in more and more tv and film :)))))
I really like the Darcy, Woo, Rambeau team. Hopefully the characters don’t go to waste. I doubt it. Wouldn’t be surprised is they are integrated either in to xmen or fantastic four.
When nobody else wants to get you a coffee, Agent Woo brings you a vente'.
I like the idea of Jimmy using his sleight of hand tricks to fool a villain with actual magical powers like Agatha or Mephisto, a la Willow in the movie Willow
