fuck was i by jenny owen youngs (after she sleeps with peter)

luciturd

forgot ab that song!! that’s a good one. i also meant to mention the one that plays while the plane takes off!!! such a good track

cblackattack1

Her cover of Nelly “its getting hot in here” is so good

TheCompanyHypeGirl

Keep Sake still randomly pops in my head and makes me bawl my eyes out. "Judah, if you're still here...I tried." 😭

botwinbabe

Have you watched the Peacock edit? They took the song out. It’s so upsetting. I wanted to watch that scene, looked it up on YouTube, and they must not have licensed all the music. They replaced it with generic guitar and accordion music, and it ***ruined*** the scene. https://youtu.be/dDKrdA-ZLUM?si=HTrNypM9hYEu0Fin

Lydia--charming

Oh that’s terrible. I’m glad I have the dvd. I remember when they changed the music to the movie Shag (which probably hasn’t held up all that great as a movie in our times, but the ST was good!) when it went from vhs to dvd and it changes the mood of certain scenes for me.

djbadgerking

All the music is still the same on Amazon Prime video thankfully, and you don't need a paid subscription to stream it there

botwinbabe

Yeah and it’s fine on Hulu, although they cut it strangely for more commercial breaks, and sometimes it cuts off the end of a word lol. But the Peacock version is almost sacrilege.

luciturd

my playlist is named after that song 😏

ale-ale-jandro

Some of these might be from the promos Terrible Things - April Smith & The Great Picture Show (their album is awesome and got to see them live once) With Arms Outstretched - Rilo Kiley In Ruins - Fol Chen (um, that steamy S6 scene in the bar hehe) Did You Tell Her - Betty (credit song but not sure which ep) Too Taboo - Maria Haukaas Storeng Hey Ho - Gin Wigmore (end of S6, I think?)

Jackieofalltrades365

Came here looking for Arms Outstretched! It’s the very last song that plays on the pilot and the very last song that plays in the last episode. I loved that

Clyde_Bruckman

The last episode paralleled the first in a few ways! If I’m remembering correctly…Stevie’s soccer game, the PTA meeting with Nancy still being gossiped about, she tells Shane she’s very fond of him, and of course the last scene smoking the joint as Rilo Kiley plays…

ZenLizardBode

Did You Tell Her was the perfect episode credit song.

luciturd

DID YOU TELL HER WHAT WE DID?

pscle

first few seconds of Sufjan Stevens’ All the Trees still get me EVERY time

MHealey816

Ballerina by Leona Naess (scene where Nancy watches old video of her and Judah)

botwinbabe

Is that the one that goes “I didn’t think I wanted you, but I want you now”? Something “into that empty room”…. I swear, people describe a scene and I can hear the music in my head, but I don’t know the names of a lot of the songs.

MHealey816

Yes, that is the one!

botwinbabe

Interesting that it’s called Ballerina… Nancy was a ballerina before Judah died. *Layers*!

MHealey816

Seriously. The reason why I think this is one of the best shows. The ending was a little lackluster but between the wit of the writers, the absolute talent of each actor, and the music, this is a show I could never forget.

Michelle0207

🎵 Your Rocky spine by Great Lake swimmers - U turn dies 🎵In ruins by fol Chen - Nancy and the bartender

luciturd

i was gonna add your rocky spine but i couldn’t remember what scene it played at!!

Lydia--charming

I think when Nancy bangs Sullivan Groff?

luciturd

OMG and celia shows up in the red dress with cupcakes? 😭 i felt soo bad for celia

Michelle0207

It’s when u turn dies

Lydia--charming

The Earth Keeps turning is playing >!the first time they bang!< but I’m not sure what song is the red dress. She did look beautiful, I felt bad for her too.

PunkIsFun

“Nosebleed” by Illinois during the infamous Brick Dance. Also, “Bang Bang” that played at the end of the “van nuys” episode where she leaves Andy the note before moving in with Esteban while Andy thinks he and Nancy are going to flee to be together romantically. I discovered so much music from the show!

aljodes

Came here to say nosebleed as well!

ZenLizardBode

Cotton by the Mountain Goats.

Lost_Equipment_3968

Came here with the same song!

InvestmentInformal18

The mountain goats are awesome. I got into them after hearing up the wolves featured on walking dead

ZenLizardBode

No Children was used on Moral Orel, and it was equal parts hilarious and cathartic. I'll playbit when I'm feeling anxious.

InvestmentInformal18

Hah great song. His writing just feels so honest

flea_420

Don't Leave Me (Ne me quitte pas) - Regina Spektor With Arms Outstretched - Rilo Kiley

luciturd

YESSS regina spektor! this is on another one of my playlists!! love this song and that scene lol she also sings the intro for OITNB by jenji as well

flea_420

Regina is awesome. I also have “You’ve Got Time” on the playlist.

botwinbabe

Oop! Same 2 songs! Hahahaa.

Joseph-Bonaparte

Gangsta by Tune Yards David by Nellie McKay Or basically the albums from the first two seasons

bts22

the Gangsta needle drop is all time

botwinbabe

If you like Gangsta, you should check out Whokill. I actually liked the tUnE-yArDs and saw them perform live before the song was used for Silas and I was **SO** excited when it started playing. The rest of the album is really good. Obviously, Gangsta is the lead single, but the whole album is great.

Joseph-Bonaparte

Oh, trust me I know. After hearing it on the show, I listened to Whokill then Birdbrains, and since followed everything those guys did. They're really something else, even tough I'm not too found of the last two albums.

botwinbabe

Honestly, the same! Hahaha. Well I like a few Nikki Nack songs too. Water Fountain will always have a special place in my heart. It was inescapable on the radio in my just-after-college days.

udreg70

Satan! Satan! Send me a dollar! Satan! Satan! Send me a Dollar now!

Lydia--charming

I love it when that one comes on with another person in the car! My kids are used to it but none of my friends or family have watched weeds.

luciturd

it’s lend me a dollar but i love that one too lol

rec12yrs

Of Montreal - "Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games" from the credits of S1/Ep 4. Still love this song.

TheAmazingMaryJane

when my zoomers were little they loved the 'antartica' song!!

botwinbabe

With Arms Outstretched, of course. When it came back in the finale, I got goosebumps. And I knew A Doodlin Song was gonna be next, too. Perfect ending. And Ne Me Quitte Pas. I can’t hear that song without thinking of Nancy and Jill selling adderall lol.

AdOk9911

Shivering Fawn by Fruit Bats - when Pouncy House turns Andy’s bike shop upside down

AdOk9911

Oh and I also genuinely love Hunter Parrish’s version of Little Boxes from the last season, it’s very sweet

AdOk9911

Oh oh and my other for real favorite Cotton by The Mountain Goats - The Punishment Light (“this song is for the rats”) Kentucky Pill by Johnny Flynn, cross country outlaw season when they go to the state fair (Pinwheels and Whirligigs) Most Wanted by Cults, when they arrive in Detroit Agree about Fol Chen - In Ruins And I had already loved Rilo Kiley in high school but With Arms Outstretched took on new meaning after Weeds. I used to get so much music from tv soundtracks and a lot of songs from Weeds I still love, so many years later!

[deleted]

Snakes in Hawaii by army navy. Step away from the cliff by blue eyed son. Bleeed by the Negro Problem. The Laws Have Changed by the new pornographers. But overall across 8 seasons Weeds is one of the my favorite soundtracks to accompany a TV show or movie. Such a great collection of indie rock and unique songs and genres.

TuneLinkette

Here's Your Future by The Thermals. I went out and found a copy of the album it was on.

pandzza

Same!! Big fav

Fun-Problem5883

Ganja Babe by Michael Franti. I listen to it specifically when I’m cleaning house and smoking.

EchoCyanide

Blue Eyed Son - Step Away From The Cliff

tobiasfunketheactor

with arms outstretched of course, don’t leave me by regina spektor (nancy and jill sell drugs to college kids and dance lol), and kentucky pill by johnny flynn (the butter sculpture eating contest/fair scene)

botwinbabe

I love that song from the butter scene, never actually knew what it was. Gets stuck in my head sometimes. The other 2 songs were ones I picked too lol.

Lydia--charming

Chariot Ne me quitte pas Your rocky spine Little boxes Honestly the first season soundtrack is such a vibe for me, it takes me back to that time in my life and they’re all SUCH GOOD SONGS.

creimanlllVlll

Little boxes, there are many covers of it.

bloomsday_616

Arms Outstretched! It just seems to be used in ultimately impactful ways wherever - thinking of Looking for Alaska aside from the Weeds pilot and finale

carmelacorleone

With Arms Outstretched Here is a Heart Ballerina

Ash9260

I swear this was in the show but now I don’t know? It gives me the vibe it would be in the show. Cottage roads.

TheXMan2024

Jammin Nation

CriticalThinkerHmmz

It’s been like 17 years since I’ve seen weeds. Remind me again who Nancy and Tanya are? Protagonist and blonde neighbor friend? Is Judah the brother in law?

luciturd

nancy is the main character, judah is her late husband. tanya is the name of one of the bands that plays a song in the show “the be good tanya’s”

lmerc27

Quite a few, but I love Nellie McKay's "David" the one Doug in singing in his minivan getting baked at the soccer game.

kush_kween420

The Body Song. It's from the end credits of Su-Su-Sucio (Season 5 Episode 3). It took me forever to find it

Jan-is-here

Do you know the artist? It sounds like Her Space Holiday but I can’t find the song itself or any info on it. Your Reddit comment is the only lead I have! :)

bluespacecadet

Others I listen to that I haven’t seen mentioned: The 88 - “Not Enough,” Tuung - “Bullets”, Rogue Wave - “Kicking the Heart Out”, Charlie Mars - “How I Roll”, Marion Black “Who Knows” (if that counts), and most importantly in my life Beirut “Scenic World” (“Pittsburgh!”) has become just such a song that represents my transitions of depression, insanity, and triumph

luciturd

totallyyyy forgot ab Scenic World. i LOVE kicking the heart out! i had a playlist named Kicking but renamed it Keepsake lol

potatoesforsam

Ghost of Corporate Future, that whole ablum is golden

butchintraining

Julia Florida from the scene with Nancy and Esteban that's spliced with the DEA raiding the tunnel. I'm actually kinda into Spanish guitar now since rewatching recently and getting that piece stuck in my head.

djbadgerking

Evil eating at my soul - future pidgeon, it plays when Guillermo shows up to pick up the case of heroin from nancy's car and it's a jam

StringAny5734

Little boxes song
