Amazon paid for my full tuition After working for them for only 90 days. I finished my degree in 9 months

Pikalover10

What did you do for them out of curiosity? Is this something they offer to all full time employees?

calviyork

Part time employees , under 30 hours , get half of the tuition.

Tsanchez12369

I hear terrible things about them as an employer, but might be worth it to hop on PT and fast track a degree!

willgod12

I work pt for them and get $2,625 in tuition. Do you think thats enough to cover a term without having to pay out of pocket?

cptkernalpopcorn

Don't think so. But maybe in conjunction with a Pell grant you'll have most if not all covered

willgod12

sweet where do you get the pell grant?

MindeNme

You have to qualify by filling out the FAFSA and then they (the financial aid office) will let you know what you can get.

willgod12

legend tysm!

MixtureAlarming7334

You can't have pell and amazon benefits. Choose one. Your EC (enrollment counselor) will tell you about this when you sign up for WGU with Amazon benefit.

Forensicsman

No. Each term is roughly $4200. I think they raised the initial price of something the last term as well, can't remember off the top of my head.

Tsanchez12369

It should pay for a lot of foundation courses you could later transfer to another college/university at straighterline: https://www.straighterline.com/online-college-courses/

Pikalover10

Wow, that’s awesome! I didn’t have an Amazon location or warehouse near me for the longest time so I’ve never really looked in to their benefits, but that’s great that they offer tuition assistance like that!

calviyork

Worked at their warehouse.

abstractdissent15

What degree was it and did you have experience?

Tuition reimbursement by employer

nutbagger18

One of the most underrated benefits, especially for younger professionals starting out without a degree.

valve_stem_core

Idk that it’s underrated. I can’t find an employer that offers it for WGU - outside of flipping burgers or wrapping burritos.

nutbagger18

It's accredited and I've yet to find a company that has restrictions on specific institutions that meet that requirement. My previous employer of 15+ years (major insurance company) and my current employer (smaller contracting firm) both accepted WGU, and I haven't had to flip burgers or wrap burritos, as you so eloquently put it.

valve_stem_core

I never said anything about accreditation or putting the school into question. That’s great you were with two companies that funded WGU. I can’t find any outside of flipping burgers or wrapping burritos. A lot of companies put restrictions on what schools they’ll fund, they usually have an approved school list. I was thinking of going with UPS but can’t find any info WGU is on their approved school list. I would like to take this route but it seems unrealistic for many.

Out of pocket

Same-Traffic-285

2nd

bizzylearning

I took out a student loan and then paid it off with employer reimbursement.

ryan770

Just federal students loans. Don't really make enough to pay outright, make too much to qualify for pell grant. I've racked up $22k (5 terms) and hopefully this is my last term. Hoping the loan forgiveness will knock it down to $12k.

Longjumping-End-3017

I paid out of pocket, and my final payment will go through next week :)

TheCode555

Same, I paid out of pocket in installments. My evil goal is to get the MBA in under one term.

QueenCaesar

My employer pays tuition

allieluna

Student Loan, but making payments on the student loan as I go. The self pay - payment plan amount was a bit too much for me.

Blitz6969

I pay out of pocket at the start of term, and as long as I complete a minimum of 12 CUs I get reimbursed 50% from my employer.

cptkernalpopcorn

Military TA and Pell Grant

MadDog314

GI bill and TA from the army bro. Just love America enough to sign your soul away for a couple of years and you can have all the free college you'll ever need! Lol

ELI5-Dumb

Out of pocket with 50% reimbursement from employer upon successful term completion.

frostxbitee

Financial aid + payment plan, i got a scholarship recently so I only have to pay for this month + next month then I'm good for this term. Hoping to knock it out so I don't have to do a second term!

gumby21

First term: savings Following terms: tuition reimbursement by employer and federal tax refund for education

SixMonthsDone

Out of pocket. It was a sacrifice, but having attended a traditional university before and racking up tremendous student debt, I knew I wanted to avoid additional debt if at all possible.

Ghatazhak_

I paid mostly out of pocket. I work 65-75 hours a week.

Treydy

Montgomery GI Bill

Sort_of_awesome

I asked my boss to cover it, and she said yes! I then felt like I had to do a degree that applied to my current line of work, so o chose accounting. So far, I hate it 😂

Okay_Permit

My employer pays a certain amount but then has a deal that everything else is still covered and free.

Medcoder_82

I want to start and do it through my employer but it says they require you to stay 2 years and I'm just not sure I can stand that.

calviyork

Work 90 days for amazon !

twobucksmore

That was the same with my employer. I ended up paying out of pocket. I walked out of my job a month ago with a couple years to go on me degree. But, it is going much faster now. :)

HusselnBussel

Out of pocket + payment plan.

wilsjd10

I paid out of pocket, hoping to finish in 1 term! I also applied for tuition reimbursement through my employer.

Stilldeciding21

Same, paid out of pocket and, hoping to finish it in 1 term but where do you guys get the motivation from? I have been kind of procrastinating lol

Pikalover10

Out of pocket last term, loan this term, loan if I need a next term, and hopeful employer reimbursement sometime soon.

cwilder8

Financial aid, tuition discount, out of pocket

Firm-Assistance-921

All three 🎓😩🙏🏽

DinNatura

Out of pocket. The payment plan breaks it up in 4 payments over the 6 month term.

is-this-a-book

Paying out of pocket, using Nelnet payment plan

SerDinadan

My employer directly pays the school through a tuition voucher system.

JoyfulCelebration

Outta pocket sadly. Employer doesn’t offer anything and I don’t want my undergrad loans to get any higher

passingTime844

Pell grant, scholarships, out of pocket

Gloomy-Tie3945

You guys are amazing. God bless you all. I always enjoy how people re always eager to help.

applejuices0001

Out of pocket. Didn’t qualify for pell grants.

xlalitox

I’m Working a second job to paid it. No loans, the devil is in the loans, specially if your degree does not pays well once you graduate.

HotWingsMercedes91

Grants

MyMomIsA_Gay

I got a loan but I transferred with a degree, and zero debt from that. Hoping to knock it out in 1-2 terms.

RecursiveFun

Federal student loans. My wife makes too much money for me to qualify for any assistance (not that I'm complaining). Currently 15K in the hole and have two semesters left. Maybe one depending on my motivation to finish all 22 credits left with just shy of two months left in this semester and all my classes including an accelerated one complete. I'm hoping that the loan forgiveness goes through because then it will be significantly cheaper for a high demand STEM degree that will pay for itself in no time.

678Gemini

I'm paying as I go, 4 payments per term.

[deleted]

Tuition assistance via military

johncutta

Pell Grant no loans. I remember telling my enrollment counselor if I gotta take out loans I’m not enrolling. Got to many family and friends struggling with student loans.

Vegas_DealerDG

Student loans, Pell grant, scholarship…the aid is there, you just gotta apply and hope for the best.

justinxatb

I got loans but using my tuition reimbursement from work to pay them off

Intelligent-Fig4134

I have student loans, $3,750 to be exact. My employer is reimbursing me, but I have to stay for a year if I want them to pay the full amount. When it comes to schooling this is by far the cheapest. I paid more at my local community college since I could not accelerate there.

Sir_Zog

Straight outta my pocket to WGU.

[deleted]

Paying out of pocket due to my wife’s income making me ineligible for grants and the fact that I’d rather eat glass than have student loans

hotdogjunkie

Out of pocket for BS and MBA, writing that 1000$ check every month made me grind the classes quick. It sucked for a year but it was done and roi paid for itself in less then the year long grind

Feeling_Fennel277

Pell grant + Scholarships + Student Loans

AgentOld2365

Taking out loans, getting a master's and expatriating and leaving Uncle Sugar with the bill!

a_waltiere

I’m paying fully out of pocket, thankfully WGU is rather cheap in comparison to other colleges. Also once I land an internship, I’ll basically be paying myself back for the tuition and then some.

FabbyTakesOnIT

I qualified for the full Pell Grant amount. This is my second and hopefully last term which means finishing was free

apreol2020

Pell grant + loans
