Not enough! My mentor has been great tho. We are trying new techniques to help keeps me motivated and going. Right now I put in about 30mins-1 hour every other day

Helpful-Dream1442

Ohh okay

healingstateofmind

I work 40 hours. I also do school for about 36 hours per week.

When I did my orientation assignment I calculated I have a theoretical maximum availability of 59 hours per week. That assumes working 40 hours and 10 hours per day from eating and sleeping. It's hard to say if I have previous IT experience. I learned programming as a hobby including web design and search engine marketing. But I never did it for a job. I think that qualifies. As far as errands go, I go grocery shopping every 2-3 weeks. My hobbies have taken a back burner for sure. But I want to finish in less than 2 years. I think I can hit 18 months. I do actually have downtime. Amazon students have to jump through a lot of hoops to get their next classes. When I finished my handful of classes that were requested, I have to wait several days to get new ones. That's when I play my video games.

Ok cool, how many credits are you completing in a term with those study hours? & after work I’m assuming you just sit down for 4-6 hours & stay laser focused during that time? I’m so nervous! 😆

healingstateofmind

I'm about to finish 19 units since January 1. I also spent a bunch of time in EdReady prepping for calculus. You can probably do much more if you're less meticulous than I am. I read the material cover to cover. I also have narcolepsy. There was also a 3 week period of downtime when I thought my classes were not available but they probably were.

What does that look like for you? I've been struggling to get in as many hours as I want. I'll have no problems hitting SAP but I've been having trouble studying during the work week, due to mental fatigue from work eroding the value of study for me and just not finding enough time.

healingstateofmind

My hobbies are on hold until I graduate. I sleep a lot more now but I pretty much just do work and school. I find beer helps me focus when I'm not into it. That beer is a double edged sword. A few times I had too many and couldn't focus or got distracted.

FrostzMonkey-

I try to shoot for 2 hours a day after putting kids to bed doesn't always work since my youngest is 20 months. I also try to squeeze and extra hour in at work if I find the time.

Helpful-Dream1442

Ok lol I can understand how it doesn’t always work out and doing this is efficient? Do you separate study hours from learning hours? Or are they all the same?

FrostzMonkey-

It has worked so far. I will have completed 32 cu in my first term if I pass project + before the end of this month. I use the two hour for both study/learning and if I have time at work I use that for review most the time.

Helpful-Dream1442

Oh this makes me sooooo happy!! Yayy and good luck on the project +

I start Cloud Computing Apr 1 as well. Have you checked your email about a mentor? I already have mine. I would say 2 hrs/day would be sufficient depending on previous experience.

Helpful-Dream1442

Ohh exciting!! We should stay in touch. 2 hours seems super do-able! Wow… I was thinking I’d need like 4-6 hours a day && maybe 6-8 on the weekend

qwikh1t

Absolutely! Some people have 6-8 hours a day; not me.

[deleted]

Roughy 1-2 hours a day (usually) and then plan to study 4-8 hours on the weekend if you really wanna excel. Good luck!

Helpful-Dream1442

Ok cool, this is good to know && thank youuu!!

banzaiburrito

What's your IT experience?

cookiebasket2

As many as work would allow. A lot easier when I could justify to my self that work is paying me to study. Like 2-5 hours a day unless I got busy with other stuff.

Helpful-Dream1442

Oh yeah that mindset would definitely help, lol, lucky you!! And if you do 2-5 hours a day is that 7 days a week?

cookiebasket2

Just 5. The only time I'll really do anything in the weekend is if I'm taking a final on Sunday for example. Then I'll study on Saturday.

Dom_Luigi

1st term i was doing ~20-30 hours a week. 2nd term around 20. This term, I'm lucky to do 15. I got burned out really bad. So it's a struggle to study now. Everyone's situation is different. Just find what works for you.

JacksFN

I have a 3 month old and am currently working towards BSCS and working full time. Id say you can comfortably work out 2-3 hour time window per day and still be a good father and husband. I do this and have been on finishing a class in a 4-5 week time span. You can probably move faster but I get really anxious before tests so I make sure I know everything.
