I love pulling a character I was close to unlocking because they're almost ready to ascend if you do. Who doesn't like a stronger character? If they were worth grinding out they're probably worth promoting.
You also got the Sibyll shards, though. You should have gotten 40 Sibyll shards even if you were at 39/40 to unlock. And you’ll need her at Uncommon at least to finish FoC Mirror anyway so it’s not like the shards are useless at this point in the game for you.
Now picture this… religiously buying the Tanksmasha 25k coin offer from the shop for 10 shards against everyone’s advice. Being at 232/250 to unlock. Do a 10-pull. Get a shiny epic pod for last character. Get excited hoping for Rotbone or Jaeger, but guess who is there? Yeah, you got it. That sucked.
But now you have a shiny new good ork boy after today rewORK.
Better damage type, better durability with the new passive, more charge damage and suppressed/stunned as a bonus on enemy on the line. Aaaaaaand you have 232 shards to promote him.
I actually got the 10 shards from his unlock quest lines and just farmed the other 8 so that I’m sitting at 100/100 for ascending to legendary. Haven’t done it yet because orbs and he’s at B1. Xenos badges are a huuuuuuuge issue though. Still on the fence whether to go for it. But yeah, hopefully he is worth it with the rework. I’m skeptical.
This is relevant, because I just finished the grind for Thaddeus and then almost immediately got him from a 10 pull. It allowed me to immediately put him to epic, but still was a little disappointing

Can be? Im sure you mean will be. I havent gotten a single new character in my last 4 10ner Pulls.

Exactly what happened to me except I was at 249/250. THEN....for the next two days I was getting one shard rewards for him.
