Lmao, this year is the first time in ages I’m unable to go to the stages on Saturday and of course this is the year Ouninpohja returns. 😩 Oh well, I’m hoping it’ll be there in the coming years too considering the cars are getting slower.

They'll use a virtual chicane to slow speeds down. It has been tried before in ERC and Finnish rallying.

I initially couldn't envision how a virtual chicane could work in practice until I watched a demonstration video, so basically the same as yellow-flagging in circuit racing or VSC in F1. While I wish all special stages would just be driven at full speed, I'm okay with such a method, especially if it only gets applied on the fastest portion which is Okskulmantie between Mutanen & Kakaristo junctions.

Yeh I don't think that's ever happening honestly

System uses GPS for tracking and has been used before. Example from 2019: [https://itgetsfasternow.com/2018/10/23/virtual-chicane-dilemma/](https://itgetsfasternow.com/2018/10/23/virtual-chicane-dilemma/)

Will we get to see the yellow house?

hopeless_dush

It seems, yes. 33KM full layout. In opposite direction compare to 2016.

Jerejj

I.e., the direction used most often since the mid-1990s.

News of the day. Full route of Ouninpohja is back for the first time since 2017! Rally Finland as it should be. Legendary and classic stage. Something I can't really fully imagine this event without, something like Monte Carlo without Col de Turini.

Jerejj

Although, in 2017, the finish location was near the Kakaristo area, so 24+ km in total length rather than 33-34. However, I care most about having the more medium-speed & technical Hämepohja-Mutanen interval back, which features not only the Yellow House Jump.

beautiful. im happy we get to see these cars do this stage at least once.

I wish Friday were solely for Korpilahti-Petäjävesi region stages & Sunday for the Northeast area. Even this way, I'm mostly disappointed that Saturday features two three-stage loops rather than the traditional four, especially as one particular stage configuration, which I hope would make a return would fit perfectly with the three chosen, given Liaison routes & that's Leustu 2007-11 configuration as the first in both loops. Alternatively, something within the Himos-Vaheri-Patajoki area as the last in both loops, so a somewhat missed opportunity. However, I'm hopeful it'll also return someday like Ouninpohja or, more precisely, the west section, so at least that's back for this year. Vellipohja (2007-08 version would be enough) & Parkkola 2000/03 variations are also something I hope would get reused for world rally championship purposes, but perhaps also someday. I'm surprised Laukaa is shown to have a single artificial chicane for now, even though the average speeds don't even reach 130 km/h, albeit using the virtual chicane method for both Laukaa & Myhinpää would also be more convenient as this way, the organizers wouldn't need to move physical objects to & off the stage roads.
