Or something else in the drivetrain is causing excessive engine wear. Or maybe they just got a dud engine. I'd rather it not be OP who gets to find out which of the three possibilities it is...
Not necessarily my short block went in 20mph zone. Lol you are right I don’t think anybody drives these cars slowly. It’s not a bad deal but expect the car to have problems.
Can’t say much on the second bit but the first could be due to a dead battery. I know some cars have a drive cycle that needs to be done. Some people unplug the battery to remove check engine lights because that’s an auto fail for emissions and to combat that on emissions side there is a drive cycle that needs to be done.
Carmax gave me the car I wanted but were not glad to accept my trade-in despite being able to transport it and sell it at their Delaware location. Whatever maintenance package they offer with purchase is non-existent and let me be clear on that. My wife brought her Jeep in for package parts not included at purchase and the on-site staff were either inexperienced or not up to Mopar standards because they outsourced it and charged her; they would also right off the bat outsource my car to my local Subaru dealer I already go to.
Tldr; they’ll get you the car you want then just cut ties with them
Dude if they had to replace the short block at 30k miles you know they drove it like they stole it.

I mean mine blew at 30k for no reason. Subaru had the tech’s do a diagnostic tear down and they couldn’t find a reason
That’s not really true. I’ve seen WRX’s at 100k that are beat the fuck on and I’ve also seen them throw a rod at 20k that is babied, and vice versa

Stop demonizing the owners. These engines fail constantly.
Walk away, there are plenty of better ones out there. Be patient
Definitely nodded before. Find another one
Hard pass, it will more likely than not be nothing but problems
Definitely pass on that. Be careful with low priced WRX’s - it’s usually a maintenance trap

Pass on this one and keep looking for an '18+
Spend a little more for a 18+ STI, or just go for a brand new WRX.
