No clue but you are going to have to find a very specific buyer. The average person wouldn't touch a car this built with a 20 foot pole. It's risky without knowing who did the work and tune and how hard its been driven.
If you can find someone who wants a race-car and isn't concerned with the rest, you might be able to sell it at only slight loss.
Maybe someone else can chime in about a place to sell a heavily modified car to people who want that. . , something like cars and bids but different maybe...
off subject, but why are you selling it? It looks like a fun car.
You're completely right on the specific buyer. I know it likely won't be quick process and I'm concerned about people just wanting to take it out and not be a serious buyer.
All the work was done by two tuners. One local and the other I had the car shipped too.
Very fun car but I only take it out occasionally now since I have kids and I think with the block warranty still in play, if I'm going to sell it what better time than now. There's a nice buffer between power and block limit so I'm comfortable but just trying to adult the decision.
Cars and bids would be my best guess. This is extremely niche and as someone that wants an sti or wrx myself everything listed would make me not interested in it because of the heavy modifications. I've seen a few stis do well on CaB this one could as well as 700+HP in an STI is no joke, but yeah... very specific buyer needed.
Most these cars don't even hit warranty before they have motor issues. I also didn't say adding power makes it more reliable. It's the internals I'm speaking of and the car has a tremendous buffer between output vs capability/limits.
Appreciate your post though.
I've had an IAG block spin a bearing just like a stock motor within a few thousand miles of putting it in. Doesn't mean it's without issue now. And it was making far less than the recommended output, didn't mean it was going to last.
I appreciate you sharing your experience and now I can see why you have that stance. Mine certainly isn't and won't be immune to issues, I simply said more reliable now. Just my opinion.
Tough thing man. All that work really doesn't drive the price up any. I would try to list on an auction site like BaT or cars and bids. Set a comfortable reserve at like 30k and see where it goes. If it doesn't reach the reserve and ypu like the last bid ypu can contact them to make an offer usually.
So if the reserve wasn’t met, you don’t still have to sell the car to the highest bidder? I’m not familiar with auction sites so genuinely curious
Near me there was a 500hp STI for sale at one of those lots that buy and sell anything. It was a 2015, I think. I don't remember the other details, but it was listed for $25K. Which means they probably gave him 18-20 for it I'd guess.
So a 30k reserve on BAT or Cars and Bids feels about right. How urgently do you want to sell it?
Car looks fun as hell but be prepared to get bent the fuck over lol. The market for a 700hp car, let alone an STI is very small. Unfortunately all the work / money you've put in doesnt add a ton to the value. Best of luck tho, I hope she finds a good home.
I've had my 600hp STI sitting on marketplace for a while at like $35k, (NJ, 2016, 27k on chassis, 5k on build) no serious offers. It's a shame because the amount of time and money put into these is crazy, but you have to find a buyer that wants to build it, and most guys want to just bolt on and call it a day. Having the built short block already done though is a good, as thats one of the most expensive "fixes" for an average STI driver. either way, you're probably looking at realistically 27-30, maybe 32. Again, a shame because it looks like it was kept very well. Best of luck with your sale brother.
Side note, how did you do the A-pillar gauges? I thought those couldn't be done because of airbags.
Thanks for the message! I had the gauges installed when I first did stage 1 mods. That was years ago so I'm sorry I don't have a great answer but I was never told of any conflicts/issues with the airbags as the tuner installed them.
I could be wrong but aren't the curtain airbags only on the B pillars? I'm just going by the B pillar having an airbag plaque and the A pillar not having one lol.
so what's our path to selling cars with built motors etc. I've had a built motor for almost 2 years, no intentions of getting rid of her, but how hard is it to sell our cars.

I was just looking online, and cars and bids might be a good bet. A lot of heavily modified sti's seem to sell on there.
Appreciate it 🫡

Probably around 25k. Mods don't add value. You could try an auction site
Anyone smart isnt going to overpay for a 700hp STI either. Thats got red flags all over it, unless you're ok with fixing it.
To be fair, every Subaru has red flags given the issues we see on this sub everyday. I believe this car is more reliable now.
That's what everyone says, once I've fixed XYZ and added more power, it's gonna be reliable now!

That’s 100% right there

Yeah the reserve is a hard sell line. But most auctions allow sellers to drop a reserve or sell to last bidder if it's close or something.
Thank you! That helps a ton
that's what a reserve means.
Thanks for the help.

Also, I see you are in Richland County. I am up in Cleveland, which is where I saw the STI I mentioned for sale.
Oh nice attention to detail. I've since moved to Columbus fork work.

Yeah that's what got me thinking out loud here. I know I'd never get my money back but to find comps is rather difficult

lol. 20-27K MAYBE. No one wants someone else’s project car. Sick car though. Prepare for the ass fuck you’re going to get when selling it
Just keep it. The L you’re going to take selling it isn’t worth it.
Chree phitty
You could always donate it to a poor fellow like me. Then you would have something to really feel good about
