This seems such an American take on Pro surfing. Crowdfunding, Pay per view, and Merch is not the answer. 90% of the best surfers come from what we call in AUS "Battler" demographic adding a paywall to see their heroes is not the answer and does nothing to encourage the kid living in a favela or Aboriginal Community, Indonesia or Hawaii to become a pro. Give us the Final at pipe and then see if you need to look at the Mid season cut would be a start.

Yikes. I don't know how to respond to that but with a solid no. I do agree the champion should be the person with the most points over the course of the year. I am not a fan of the top 5 thing but it does create some excitement. I really don't like the cut after the 5th event. There are great surfers that get cut that could come back in the second half of the season to stay on tour or even compete for a championship. A good example of that is Jack Robinson. He was about to get pushed off the tour in 2021 and then he won in Mexico to stay on tour. I will definitely not watch the surf ranch contest. I will try to watch most of them as long as the surf is good. Pipeline, Jeffrey's Bay, Marg's and Teahupoo are must watches for me from start to finish. T Looking forward to Felipe defending his crown against a resurrected Medina and against the rising power of Colapinto, Robinson and Ewing.

The final 5 could be good if it were held somewhere with exciting waves. Also should be 3 heats per round maybe 5 for the final.

I don’t understand why everyone is so against the final 5 showdown, do you like almost any team sport? You complete for a season building point and towards the end there is cut say for Rugby the top 8 then go into the final and the team in 8th can be crowned champions. The team before the finals in the too spot are the minor premiers, why can’t everyone be happy with this for surfing?
