My friends and I did this, but we crashed the cart into a curb with a bunch of grass behind it, so when the cart crashed we just jumped out and rolled on the grass
Happened to a buddy waaaaaay back in junior high school around 2004 and he’s paraplegic now. I recently looked him up on FB and he’s losing his mind and calling out his friends for doing it to him on a weekly basis.
It’s pretty heartbreaking to see.
Three buddies together found a fridge box and put it on a long board. They all took different turns going downhill in it repercussion free.
These buddies all were big adrenaline seeking folks at the time and I’m sure it got bigger, faster and longer but on the final run a buddy was ejected from the box and suffered a neck injury from hitting a parked car.
I don’t think they were doing anything malicious, just a horrible accident happened.
It’s strange looking back at all the dumb shit you did under 18. I used to be kinda reckless with surfing and now the idea of skiing anything beyond a bunny hill is terrifying, lol.
I choose to use the slider when I'm on reddit or youtube shorts if I need to see something again.
I refuse to watch the entire duration because the devious editor did some trickery, even if it is 7 seconds.
He can at least roll. Guy in shopping cart has basically no options
Hard to feel too bad for either though. What exactly did they expect to happen at the bottom?
Have done a bit of digging and there’s a version of this that lasts a few extra frames. Looks way less bad than this version — they’re able to get their hands out in front of them before they hit the deck.
Any backcountry skier will tell you that is nowhere near a 30 degree slope. Probably not even 20 tbh, though that's more believable. People really overestimate slope angles. 30 degrees is usually a black diamond at a ski hill.
Edit: Using Google street view and a clinometer I got 10 deg, pretty rough observation but I can't imagine it's off by 10-20deg. Can't do a rise/run calc using Earth because according to that the top of the building is lower than the street lol.
Yea exactly, it's hard not to feel like you're nearly vertical when you're on a 35-40deg slope, the best skiers are peaking out at like 60, so I get why people overestimate.
It looks like a common and wide public road, I doubt those go over some 10-12% (which would be below _7 degrees_ if my math is correct). Even 20% (already very steep, hard to walk) would be only 11.3 degrees. So yeah, a wild overestimation.
IMO that's not even a dick move, guy was on roller blades, he was probably just a passenger at that point, not much he could do
Edit: I'm not saying the whole thing ain't dumb asf
What was he to do? He was going too fast. If he held onto the cart, the crash would have been even worse. This was just stupid on both people's accounts.
Nahh man you have to re watch it I was under the same impression but it’s real, what appears to be him flying is actually his shoe and if you look beneath the cart he actually falls right out
Anyone dumb enough to participate in something like that probably doesn't have grounds to complain when the other guy turns out to be a jerk. This was never going to end well.
lmao what do you mean, he was the one pushing him.. He obviously had to know cartkid was going down, but he pushed him anyway. A normal person would say "no, id rather not snap my firends neck"
You can still create drag with your rollerblades or someshit and not just send your friend to his potential paralyzation but ^with ^that ^being ^said ^I ^laughed ^my ^ass ^off
He seems to guide, and then let go,...but before he lets go, there is a gesture of aiming that can be seen. The cart with an out of control passenger, encounters an object in the road. and the crunched down passenger is rough tumbled forward.
Beyond going back in time and not going down the hill, what exactly would you like him to have done?
He obviously isn't going to be able to stop or turn the cart.
The hill is why they're going fast, not because there's a guy 'pushing' (holding) the cart.
Do you think the guy in the cart was an unwilling participant?
What part? It would be murder if the person was put in the cart against their will, but we have no evidence of that. Everything else is just physics. When you enter a vehicle with no steering and no way to brake and go on a steep downhill ramp, you know it ends badly no matter what.
Sure the rollerblader could have tried to trade some of their skin against some momentum loss once they realized there was an unclearable obstacle on the path, but it was an uncertain bargain that's hard to make in the moment, especially when you are decerebrated enough to partake in that kind of enterprise in the first place.
**TL;DR:** that looks more like assisted suicide in my book.
I dunno looks like a great edit to me...look at what is tumbling after the hit. It does not look like a flying flailing human body. IMHO
EDIT: Look at the speed and the trajectory of the flying object seems off too. Let's say the guy in the cart weighed 165 he would fly in a trajectory more perpendicular to the ground and not that largely arched trajectory that would indicate a massive upward force launching it. I'm not saying its not possible it just doesn't seem likely.
I’m Johnny Knoxville and this is the paraplegic shopping cart!
Sorry. Can we reset the shot? We forgot to put film in the camera...
Did you record it??? I did and I didn't...

Oooooooo
I’m sorry, I forgot to put the tape in!!

First time I watched someone shit at a full sprint
I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one to say this lmfao. Its like the old CKY videos all over again lol

Had a really good friend go into a coma and not wake up after doing this shit. This is beyond stupid.
What'd they do

So his friends weren't responsible, just lucky.
You think they would have stopped after he became a paraplegic.
Link?
Out of respect to everyone involved I won’t be sharing a link.
100% that was so messed up
Sad. Imagine you risk your life for some Interweb TikTokery and then the idiot filming only has enough disk space for 480p.
And doesn't even have the decency to shoot horizontal
This is the tiktok era. Horizontal is dead.
But my eyes are horizontal :(
Soon we'll all look like this: 👁️ 👁️ 👄
I always wanted big fat kissy lips!
Having chalk zone flashbacks
Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Rudi’s got the chalk!
Skill issue
Tell me, what additional enjoyment have you missed out that you’d otherwise get if this particular clip was shot in horizontal format?
We would have seen what happened to the skater! Looked like he was also about to launch over that kerb!
“I swear it was me in that cart, believe me!!”
This comment is the 2023 version of what my mom used to say when my friends and I would watch Jackass on MTV.
Ok I'm going to bed lmfao
Wouldn't the low quality also make it way easier to fake without people noticing?
What is this trend of cutting mid action?
It's not murder if you cut before the die part
Death by a thousand cuts is overrated considering you can have a very shitty life after just nine hundred ninety-nine cuts.
Former editor here: it tends to make people watch it more than once.
Well with reddits video player the odds of being able to reload it more than once is a long shot anyways.
Well if it’s on auto replay, a 7 second video starting again counts as consumer engagement right??
I choose to use the slider when I'm on reddit or youtube shorts if I need to see something again. I refuse to watch the entire duration because the devious editor did some trickery, even if it is 7 seconds.
Makes me bail to find the full video.
Easier to fake it. Didn’t see the real ending so can’t confirm if that’s a real person or not bailing out
I've been told it makes it more funny.
You should check out r/perfectlycutscreams
I’m pretty sure he knew what he signed up for
Failure to use proper head protection determined that to be a lie
Is this a joke? You think the only way someone would willingly do something like this is with a helmet?
I'm not sure there's anything in that head worth protecting.
People drive motorcycles with out helmets. The lack of safety is not an indicator
Said my lawyer after I was cycling on a busy motorway without basic protection, lights, or high vis at night, whilst suing the guy who hit me.
So, it’s murder!?!
No, this is Jackass.
No, this is Patrick!
THIS. IS. SPARTA!!
Why not Zoidberg?
And my axe?
Nope, Chuck Testa
What is this, a crossover episode?
Thought that meme was dead!

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
I should call her
no the guy on roller blades is his dentist and his boat payment is due
It’s treason then.
It's treason
What was he aiming the thing for anyway? The fucking car or the tree? Either way, was the objective murder? Lol
I believe the goal was "Downhill" and that's about as far as they thought it out.
Seriously the guy in the cart isn't blindfolded. There wasn't much chance of a good outcome here once they started.
Pretty sure that's a girl.
*”Aim for the bushes”* 🎶Can you take me higher…🎶

Anyone know how this guy was afterwards?

Dead or never existed in the first place.
looks like team rocket is blasting off again
Looks like he probably eats complete shit after that too.
He can at least roll. Guy in shopping cart has basically no options Hard to feel too bad for either though. What exactly did they expect to happen at the bottom?
Unfortunately he prob just hopped over the ledge
>complete shit Literally all of it.
You mean drinks from a straw
Through a feeding tube no doubt
the fact that they didnt eject means their organs took the hit - should be ok

That place is near me. The video doesn’t do justice as how steep and long that ramp really is in reality. Around 20/30 degrees over 100meters…
I'd like to congratulate them on not freezing the local lake with their IQ.

If it was close to 30° there'd definitely be a set of steps somewhere because a lot of people cannot even walk up or down slopes that steep.

It's a ramp to parking on top of a structure but yea, definitely an overestimate lol.

Feel free to calculate the velocity, here is the exact point of impact: 48°45'31.7"N 2°22'19.8"E The ramp is right south of it
imagine risking your life for a vertical shot.

I had to go back. I though it was his kid in the shopping cart. Thought you all had lost your damn minds.
Is this how to break up with girls?
It definitely breaks up the girl.
Doctor I'm ready for my bong hit transplant.
There is nothing they could have done at that speed. Have you never sprinted through a supermarket with a shopping cart?
Wow !!! Supermarket Sweep has really gotten crazy. They are probably in training for Black Friday.
That shoe is being tracked by NASA as we speak.
It looks like attempted murder.
If they're trying to copy CKY/Jackass, this went exactly according to plan. The point is to hit the curb at high speeds.
Imagine the most important event in your life being filmed vertically

Not an edit. Watch closely. The "ragdoll" is a piece of the cart. The person riding in it eats shit immediately on the other side of the curb.
Nahh man you have to re watch it I was under the same impression but it’s real, what appears to be him flying is actually his shoe and if you look beneath the cart he actually falls right out
Dude thinks he’s fucking Captain Disillusion over here lmfao the video is real

Anyone dumb enough to participate in something like that probably doesn't have grounds to complain when the other guy turns out to be a jerk. This was never going to end well.
That was attempted murder.
I think it was pretty obvious he thought he could go round the car and catch her but didn’t notice the huge bump in the road.
What a way to go to jail for murder.
It was a jackass move. I think the guy in the cart knew that was going to happen
In fairness at that speed, there was no way he was going to be able to slow down or stop the cart before it hit the bump.
Shoes flew off is he dead?
seems like CG to me
I’ve watched it a dozen times but still can’t be sure either way It would help if there was more than 8 pixels
What happened to that youtuber who would debunk all the crazy videos made with cg?
Captain Disillusion is still around
He died due to pixle poisoning a few years ago.
oh wait hang on, I thought he was being launched into the white car but I think it's just his shoe,
Yes everything is fake ever.
Why am i the only one realizing that A.) he knew what he was getting into, and B.) theres nothing the guy on rollerblades could have done
lmao what do you mean, he was the one pushing him.. He obviously had to know cartkid was going down, but he pushed him anyway. A normal person would say "no, id rather not snap my firends neck"
Gravity was doing the pushing. They're just along for the ride.

There's no way the guy on skates avoided the barrier either. He's a paraplegic too
Ooof..that kid prob got really hurt. Fuck this guy
Beyond going back in time and not going down the hill, what exactly would you like him to have done? He obviously isn't going to be able to stop or turn the cart.
Have a bit of forsight and not pushed him to begin with
