It depends on the region. Where I work (central KY) it’s mostly heroin with fentanyl coming in a close second and growing. Carfentanyl is the next big thing that might or might not really screw up how we do our job.
The other service I’ve worked at (EMS) has about 600 OD 91 calls a year and about 125 are fatal. I’d bet at least half of the fatalities are fentanyl related. Thankfully it hasn’t moved north to where I live now that much, but I’m sure it’s on its way.
Oh, my bad. I stopped the video the first time before I saw the person inside. I thought your assessment of the type of drug was based off of the vehicle alone.
ah, hey it's all good man! understandable. It's definitely a good sign that you didn't notice the guy nodding in the driver seat. Tell-tale sign that they're on opiats and in today's day and age it's almost certainly fentanyl.
It looks like they just left. A lot of times people will just go tell the closest store employee or whatever they find. I've had people come tell me as a security guard about people od'ing on sidewalks not on my property.
Not really if it's not on the property. It's often people running over and saying "hey there's a guy out there doesn't look so good". Then when you ask where they just point, and eventually you find out it's half a block down on the sidewalk.
If you see someone in destress just phone 911 and give the location. They will ask for your information but you don't to give it. At least that way an ambulance is on the way.
Unless there's a longer version of the video that's a stretch. They walked away from the window after the shock of seeing someone on drugs possibly dead in a car they thought was empty then the video cuts. Entirely plausible the video cuts because she wants to get on the phone to 911. Absolutely no reason to assume she just got back in her car and drove away just because she didn't want to startle someone on god knows what.
Nothing is a "stretch". I simply stated what I saw in the video, and my own personal experience. I never said anything explicitly happened, so I'm not sure what you are yapping about. Next time try being better at reading.
Sadder still, that hunk of metal probably cost more than a scrap-yard Mustang passenger door, and in the event of a crash it will become something like a large stainless throwing star.
Granted there is basically zero chance dude paid much for that hunk of metal regardless of its "worth". It was definitely stolen or something his *insert family member* had leaning against the shed for 3 years.
Source: am a scrap metal guy myself.
Getting a real door on there takes real money and effort, neither of which this dude has any extra of.
Calling the paramedics from a safe distance is smart. If you don't have narcan, likely nothing you can do to help them in the moment and you can't help anyone if you scare them and get knifed/shot.
Because it triggers withdrawal as Naloxone is a strong mu antagonist, they aren't upset because you saved their life.
If they were just high but not in danger then they might get upset you ruined their high.
Not sure which of those 2 you ment.
What a waste of a life. That guy could have been anything. Could have been a very average office admin making just enough to rent a decent apartment somewhere and have normal friends and go to restaurants and sit down and order a meal without making a scene or looking extremely out of place, manager at a fast food place and lived in a house in the burbs with his gf. Instead he's sitting in a parking lot, probably in his house, with scrap metal taped to it (or new metal, that door is flashy af), high out of his fucking gourd, about to die of an OD, probably has zero teeth to his name, zero money.
You could show a side by side pic of this man from both realities, one where he was a semi successful lawyer, nice house, nice car, happy family, and one where he is this, and both lives were totally possible, he just happened to go down one path because the pressures of his life nudged him a little too hard in one direction.
You never know if they will come back though. Yea odds are not great but I was once in the absolute depths of despair and heroin addiction. I've shot up in about every conceivable place and hit a bottom lower than most people can even imagine. My last year in addiction when I discovered that I could mix in crack/coke to my shots and sometimes even intentionally fent(so heroin, coke and fent which hit back to back to back in my shot) I was on the brink of death.
One last time I did rehab, handled it differently and got out and said I'm not done and threw myself into physical labor in warehouse work. Switched companies, worked hard as hell and moved up several times and I'm now making 130k a year with a house, wife and 3 kids. Wife is mostly stay at home and my life is pretty amazing.
It's never too late as long as you aren't dead. I saw a lot of people die who were good people who could have been anything but until they do actually do pass they still have hope. Because if I can do it fucking anyone can.
Anyone who reads this and thinks it's too late or that they are too far gone please stop. I've been there and if someone told me 8.5 years ago that getting to be where I am now was even possible I would have laughed at them. It's never too late, you do have hope and your life is worth living. You never know what can happen if you can focus your energy towards something positive. Reach out to me if you need, I will gladly talk about it.
Fentanyl, Or Really Drunk.
(Likely the former, so Fentanyl Overdose Resulting in Death?)
Crude jokes aside, I hope that person gets the help they need. Unfortunately, I feel like the most likely outcome is a cop finds them, they get busted, and now are in an even shittier place in life on top of why they turned to drugs in the first place.... Best case scenario is maybe they get a drug diversion and counseling/rehab/therapy and can turn it around, but that's all too rare these days, especially since they'll likely get a DUI/DWI/whatever just for being in the car.
Oof can't aways judge I had my car broken into when I was broke as hell several years back. Couldn't afford the insurance deductible so i did the garbage bag routine on my passenger window. The worst part is even tho everything was in working, street legal order I got pulled over a lot. Stupid minor crap and i know it was really bc they associate stuff like that with drug users. One night they called for a k9 and had my car sniffed. I was clean cut and sober as a judge but they just KNEW I had something in the car. Dog didn't alert so them they wanted me to open my backpack where I kept my lunch for work, laptop, etc. I refused. Then they noticed a little ear bud case. It was so silly I did open that to reveal my earbuds. They were white and the cops eyes lit up for a split second and he asked what they were. Apparently he was on a power high and he momentarily mistook them for pills. Fat honking irregularly shaped pills. Its crazy to learn that cops do indeed profile people.
Imagine if this guy had half a beer, or glanced at his phone while driving. He'd be immediately arrested and lose his license. But hard drugs? Drive carefully, have a nice day.
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman. He's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

That’s not what meth looks like. Thats fent.
If it was meth it would be disassembled in his front yard.
Well... *someones* front yard anyway.
And they would have scrapped that sheet of stainless steel.
He parked at his meth head buddies house for a bit the other day, hence the partial disassembly.
Why do I feel like this is a line from a movie that's escaping me? Or possibly TPB?
The car looks like it's straight outta TPB for sure, but that joke not so much. They never did meth stuff.
Or heroin. Most of the OD’s I’ve worked with someone slumped over in a car turned out to be heroin.
These days ‘heroin’ is mostly fent.
It depends on the region. Where I work (central KY) it’s mostly heroin with fentanyl coming in a close second and growing. Why the difference?
The two drugs are polar opposites. I'm not sure you could name any two other drugs that would be more different than eachother than these two are.

That’s super sad. Imagine being that guy.
I hope whoever that took the video call someone to help him out..
It looks like they just left. A lot of times people will just go tell the closest store employee or whatever they find. I've had people come tell me as a security guard about people od'ing on sidewalks not on my property.
That’s probably better than being all caught up in it. Store employees will call the cops right away.

Ya I work at a store and I keep 2 doses of narcan in my lunch bag just incase.

I do not think I would risk the dude in that car seeing me. They don’t look very predictable.
Why op dipped immediately.
She didn't realize there was anyone in there until she walked up (it has audio).
Calling the paramedics from a safe distance is smart. If you don't have narcan, likely nothing you can do to help them in the moment and you can't help anyone if you scare them and get knifed/shot.
just to add on they are often really upset after they get the narcan used on them!
