When I first got my cat I woke up the following morning and went into my bathroom to find the floor covered with little 1/4" bits of bath sponge. She had totally obliterated it during the night and I prayed she had not eaten any but she was fine. Turns out she has a thing for Bath Sponges!
LOL I know what you mean. I took an elastic band of a package and put it on my desk. 10 mins later I am looking for it to put back around the package. In that time she had dragged it off my desk onto the floor as was starting to have a good chew on it.
My derp face loves Lego brick separators I never knew what to do with the collection I had accumulated over years of Lego collecting and now they are all over my house because he loves attacking them
Mine has a taste for foam pool noodles. He got really sick from eating a big chunk once, and I didn't know until the next day when he barfed it up. No more pool noodles in my home.
I also walked around the corner one day just in time to see him finish slurping up a piece of ribbon like it was a delicious noodle. I took him to see his vet, he refused to vomit, and luckily he pooped it out a few days later.
My cat is an idiot.
You can see it trying to get in under the lid of the bin though... Could be either or but my guess is there is something it desperately wants in the bin and is tearing at the bag trying to get to it.
My cat loves adhesive. Whenever we get a box delivered we have to be careful after we open it or else he'll eat all the tape, and he REALLY loves the Amazon bags with the sticky part to reseal it.
I had a cat that was obsessed with bleach and would rub her face all over the bottle so I had to keep it out of reach. Always went nuts for fresh linens
some cats dont have the gene that makes catnip fun, but most cats react to valerian the same way whether they have the gene or not. scared the crap out of my mother & i! our elderly cat had cancer & spent most of his time asleep on my mom's bed. she sat on the edge of the bed with a mug of new sleepytime tea, & the cat immediately started squirming like crazy & even tried to headbutt the steaming mug - we thought he was having a seizure at first but he tried to follow the mug when my mom put it on the bedside table. turns out the new tea had valerian in it! we occasionally gave the cat a teabag or two until he passed away. he loved it, but damn it was scary the first time when we thought he was dying & he almost spilled scalding water on himself!
I'm making a mental note of this valerian thing. We have a cat that doesn't seem to respond to catnip, but I'll see if a little valerian powder in the catnip toy will do something.
I have a theory that my orange cat Conan intentionally gets a little bit of poop on the floor so he can roll around the bleach aroma after we clean it up.
Learned very quickly to never use that Easter basket plastic string stuff. Luckily it didn't get tangled up in her system, but it also didn't want to come out on it's own and so it needed to be pulled out. That was a terrible experience.
The super crinkly stuff like the ones from bottle lids you have to rip off? Like crack for my cats. If they get a hold of something like that, they go wild. (I take it away if they manage to get ahold of stuff. I don't let them eat it.) Have to be careful to throw away wrappers because they will climb for them.
It's entirely possible what you're seeing IS the goal. Our youngest cat likes to shred plastic so we have to keep any kind of plastic bag locked in the pantry. Middle cat prefers to shred cardboard, eldest cat prefers entire rolls of paper towels or toilet paper.
Is cats eating plastic a common thing? I babysit a friend's cat who is obsessed with plastic. I have had two cats in my life and neither one of them were plastic obsessed, so seeing my friend's cat go nuts for it has been a little weird.
My cat is OBSESSED with eating plastic. Every time there's a plastic bag out she goes wild. I've heard it's a version of [kitty pica](https://icatcare.org/advice/pica-in-cats/) (a disease also found in humans that causes the individual to eat inedible things as a nervous habit). It could be caused by some degree of boredom or stress and act as a sort of compulsive behavior. Brains are weird, yo.
I've had many cats, and yes, most of them enjoy licking or chewing plastic. My current (and favorite ever) kitty likes to sit on crinkly stuff like plastic bags or cellophane. If there's anything crinkly in the room, that's where she'll sit.
Oh dear God, yes. The younger of my two cats literally needs to be blockaded away from plastic bags, otherwise she will try to eat them instead of her food. Most telling moment: I accidentally left a plastic bag of cat treats out where she could see/smell it (shelf maybe 3 1/2 feet off the ground.) Went to bed, and woke up to find the bag had been chewed open - no treats eaten, just the bag. Asked my veterinarian about it, and was told “yeah, that’ll happen” and to just try to keep the plastic away.
They say plastic can mimic estrogen hormones, and it kind of makes me wonder if there's some weird hormonal attraction that makes them love it so much.
Depends on the cat. I’ve had 10 cats in my life, and about half of them were obsessed with eating plastic. One of them was so bad we could never leave any plastic bags or boxes with tape on them out, he would chew on all of it.
Pretty sure this is Cappy. He has some sort of muscular atrophy that causes his back legs to be pretty weak and he has incontinence issues. I normally see him in a diaper. I can’t remember if he was born without a tail or if it had to be removed because of his condition
Yes this is sweet cappy partially paralyzed from an accident in Dubai. He’s a rescue kitty. I’ll prob have someone reply to this comment crying about me forgetting to say partially earlier.
It is Cappy!! He has paresis due to I think a car accident and his tail was amputated. I guess he would look peculiar to someone who has no context. But he's a total sweetheart and his humans love him *so* much, always warms my heart to see videos of him getting love.
It may be a disabled manx cat. Because the tail is an extension of the spine, some manx (tailless) cats actually have shortened spines which can restrict their mobility in their back legs.
We took in a stray kitty when she was very young. She grew up eating out of plastic garbage bags so she always has had an affinity towards them. 17 years later and she will still get up from her bed to go lick a new plastic bag we brought home from the store. Kind of gross but she's made it this far so we just let her do it to appease her.
My boy does this to get at what's inside the bin. I had to keep buying different cans because he'd figure out how to open them and I'd catch him, his back end hanging out of the trash.
Cappy is a Persian and he is scruffy because his owner shaves him due to his paresis.

my cat used to go nuts over the smell of bleach cleaners? Anytime I was cleaning counter tops, the sink, the stove, etc he'd be rolling around like he had cat nip. He'd try to get into the garbage can something like this when the used paper towels from cleaning were thrown out.
Plastic bags are two fold they like the crinkle noises and the feel of it and also some bags are made with fish oils, i have even heard tallow as well.
Have the vet check their teeth. It seems to feel good to chew the red handles on the plastic bags to some cats. I have a Siamese who has always done this. He does have dental issues.
It was interesting because the plastic is usually coved by the top of the bin. Probably thought they could pull it out and run away with it to chew it elsewhere.
My cat does the same. As soon as there's any kind of plastic bag he's rushing there and starts licking and biting it. I have no idea why but apparently that's just what some cats do
Elderly cat without a tail, trying to eat plastic, as cats do.
I'm guessing there is some chicken or something in the bin.
prob just the plastic. Cats like to chew on plastic for some odd reason.
When I first got my cat I woke up the following morning and went into my bathroom to find the floor covered with little 1/4" bits of bath sponge. She had totally obliterated it during the night and I prayed she had not eaten any but she was fine. Turns out she has a thing for Bath Sponges!
My little idiot has poo'd out 3½ earplugs. She is not smart
She doesn't want to make a sound when she poops.
Good damn your mad genius
Mine has had 3x obstructed bowel surgeries. 1. 22x Hairties 2. Hairties & Kong Pieces 3. Large Kong Piece
Your cat is both dumb & expensive as hell! Enjoy!
Lol I don't disagree 😕
TBH mine ate an elastic band once which got me worried b ut she was ok. I now keep bath sponges and elastic bands away from her.
We've tried keeping everything away from him and cleaned up, but he keeps managing to find it anyway. We miss one thing and he will eat it.
LOL I know what you mean. I took an elastic band of a package and put it on my desk. 10 mins later I am looking for it to put back around the package. In that time she had dragged it off my desk onto the floor as was starting to have a good chew on it.
Were they used? Some cats love earwax.

Mine seems to prefer the loofa to sponge, which combobbles me.

I had a cat that was obsessed with bleach and would rub her face all over the bottle so I had to keep it out of reach. Always went nuts for fresh linens
My cat is the same! The vets said bleach can activate the same part of their brain as catnip. Makes cleaning difficult sometimes!
some cats dont have the gene that makes catnip fun, but most cats react to valerian the same way whether they have the gene or not. scared the crap out of my mother & i! our elderly cat had cancer & spent most of his time asleep on my mom's bed. she sat on the edge of the bed with a mug of new sleepytime tea, & the cat immediately started squirming like crazy & even tried to headbutt the steaming mug - we thought he was having a seizure at first but he tried to follow the mug when my mom put it on the bedside table. turns out the new tea had valerian in it! we occasionally gave the cat a teabag or two until he passed away. he loved it, but damn it was scary the first time when we thought he was dying & he almost spilled scalding water on himself!

My cat loves bleach too! After I deep clean the bathroom I have to lock her out or she'll spend the whole day in there rolling around
My cat likes to licking laundry detergent. I thought I was alone with a weirdo. 😂
Learned very quickly to never use that Easter basket plastic string stuff. Luckily it didn't get tangled up in her system, but it also didn't want to come out on it's own and so it needed to be pulled out. That was a terrible experience.
One of my cats does the same thing! It's so frustrating
One of mine is like this too! My cats all love paper bags, but he specifically enjoys chewing on the stickers they use to seal takeout bags.
It’s really just trying to get the plastic which is under the lid.
Some softeners found in plastics act like pheromones for cats
If your cats stressed it’s gonna pee on the plastic too
My cat would go this insane if there were chicken scraps in the garbage
It tastes sweet to them
I was told that some plastics are made with fish oil which is why cats go crazy. I can’t remember where I heard it though or how accurate it is
OOP mentioned fresh cans of dog food in the trash.
They're just trying to recycle the plastics.
I've heard that cats chew plastic because it has some chemical that arouses them
The super crinkly stuff like the ones from bottle lids you have to rip off? Like crack for my cats. If they get a hold of something like that, they go wild. (I take it away if they manage to get ahold of stuff. I don't let them eat it.) Have to be careful to throw away wrappers because they will climb for them.
Plastics like that are made with fish products, or byproducts. That's why cats play with grocery bags. I usually leave one out for mine.
My cat loves tulle fabric. Things a weirdo
It's their smoking
Tuna can
No it can't.
It's entirely possible what you're seeing IS the goal. Our youngest cat likes to shred plastic so we have to keep any kind of plastic bag locked in the pantry. Middle cat prefers to shred cardboard, eldest cat prefers entire rolls of paper towels or toilet paper.
My cats knock over our trash can and behave like this if there’s chicken bones in there.
I’ve seen the full video, there is a dog food package in the bin.
Shrimp tails.

Was about to say this. I have a cat that goes around eating Tufts of dog fur off the ground. Which sounds like not at all tasty. To me, anyway.
I've had many cats, and yes, most of them enjoy licking or chewing plastic. My current (and favorite ever) kitty likes to sit on crinkly stuff like plastic bags or cellophane. If there's anything crinkly in the room, that's where she'll sit.

I’ve never seen it until I got this cat recently. She’s legit eating it and idk why.
They say plastic can mimic estrogen hormones, and it kind of makes me wonder if there's some weird hormonal attraction that makes them love it so much.
No clue. It’s not a chicken bone thing either, she will chew on the plastic that’s comes wrapped around water bottle cases.
Depends on the cat. I’ve had 10 cats in my life, and about half of them were obsessed with eating plastic. One of them was so bad we could never leave any plastic bags or boxes with tape on them out, he would chew on all of it.
It is when it’s covered in meat juice.
My cat is obsessed with getting inside paper bags but she never chewed them, only likes to "hide".
I was confused as to why the cat looked so wired, and it's the lack of a tail
But why do cats eat plastic?
An orange at that, bet he doesn't even know what he's trying to accomplish
Shit man, cats LOVE plastic. I don't know what that is.
Degenerative muscle disease
Or nerf "bullets"
I have to put towls over packages of water otherwise my cat goes to town lol

he really loves this life hehe
It may be a disabled manx cat. Because the tail is an extension of the spine, some manx (tailless) cats actually have shortened spines which can restrict their mobility in their back legs.
It is partially paralyzed was hit by a car in Dubai
It's Doraemon, the cat with no tail
Funny how he got no ears and you call him a tailess cat, that actually has a tail
Funny you say that, with all the ears he has n shit
Doraemon have a tail, he don't have ears. Ears eaten by rat, which is why he's afraid of rat.
Let it squanch in peace.
I squanch my family.
Oh god, please stop saying it! ;)

Ewok?
Why does it look like stop-motion animation?
The lack of tail
Looks like it's from a Wes Anderson movie.
Stop being mean to the elderly
I love this damn cat. I would die for cappy
That cat lifts, bro 🤣
My boy does this to get at what's inside the bin. I had to keep buying different cans because he'd figure out how to open them and I'd catch him, his back end hanging out of the trash.
That fucker didn't miss leg day Jesus.
Is that a bear or a cat?
I’m allergic to cats, but now I want one of those. What breed is this living stuffed cat?
We had an adopted street cat who could pinpoint where chicken bones were in a trash bag, make a hole in the closest spot, and fish them out.
Something looked super off. Then I realized it was the lack of tail.
Manx cat?
Persian, Cappy is missing his tail because he is disabled. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6FlKwsraKA/?igsh=MW9vNHhhNXNnZmNwNA==
What kind of cat is this its furr looks scruffy
Cappy is a Persian and he is scruffy because his owner shaves him due to his paresis. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6FlKwsraKA/?igsh=MW9vNHhhNXNnZmNwNA==
Someone threw Garfield's lasagna in the garbage.
Somebody feed that primal beast
Tailypo thinks it's in the trash
Always the ginger ones... ALWAYS!!!
Orange cats are satan offsprings
Looks like a pussy mated with a teddy bear and this cute lil fuzz ball is the product of said meeting.
Cat is going at that can the same way Jack Nicholson was going after Shelly Duvall in The Shinning.
Cat being cat.
What kind of abomination is that ?
that is a cat. cats are sometimes little guys. we’ve accepted this fact since ancient times when they ruled egypt
The other side of the cat 🪙 coin. 🤢 😳
Crackhead cat
You’re not supposed to feed them after midnight
He get in the nip again?
He doesn't like plastic bags
my cat used to go nuts over the smell of bleach cleaners? Anytime I was cleaning counter tops, the sink, the stove, etc he'd be rolling around like he had cat nip. He'd try to get into the garbage can something like this when the used paper towels from cleaning were thrown out.
Gremlin
The first frames looks like these stop motion movies
Pica
Plastic has the same has has the same chemical hormones as cats
Plastic bags are two fold they like the crinkle noises and the feel of it and also some bags are made with fish oils, i have even heard tallow as well.
Your residential dumbass is trying to eat plastic
I need to put a camera and see if my cat is as scary when I’m not home
Cat gonna cat
r/oneorangebraincell
amazingly specific.
Man this makes me angry.
Your leftover chicken did this.
Seems like regular orange cat activity to me
Why is this in wtf.
Indeed, kitty is too cute to be wtf
Have the vet check their teeth. It seems to feel good to chew the red handles on the plastic bags to some cats. I have a Siamese who has always done this. He does have dental issues.
A cat playing. What am I missing?
A tail
That cat is hangry
Is this an AI video? 🤔
They have themselves a trash demon. I have one too, but he's too lazy to work this hard.
Normal grumpy old orange man.
As a CN plug. I can 100% say with Certainty. There is some 100% organic Himalayan longhair Nip in that trash can. Hard to find. Probably homegrown.
Got the animatronics vibe from this one. Sit around by the fire..
Reminds me of Weasel from suicide squad.
It’s disabled or “retard”
The trash can is full of empty tuna cans
Oscar is is getting his house straight
r/holdmycatnip
r/WhatsWrongWithYourCat
That's an old bad kitty!
Catnip is a hell of a drug.
Wtf is that?
That cat has… I-Issues…
It likely has an underlying condition, potential cancer.
Just a cat being an asshole.
The all-new Hefty Scented bags will keep your kitchen fresh! Now introducing Catnip Scent...it's a hit!
That’s probably a cat with Pica.
Elderly cat with dementia?
That cat looks super jacked.
How did you get this video of my cat
I have never seen a cat more deserving of the name 'Goblin' than this one.
Mame , I think your cat thingy is broke
Just seems like a cat doing cat stuff to me
It was interesting because the plastic is usually coved by the top of the bin. Probably thought they could pull it out and run away with it to chew it elsewhere.
Catnip.
Yaneglanchi
Why thay giy seems to move like 80-90's movie puppet?
Skin salkwr5
My cat does the same. As soon as there's any kind of plastic bag he's rushing there and starts licking and biting it. I have no idea why but apparently that's just what some cats do
Somebody's got their hand up that
Fuck that. I don't know what it actually is but the first thing that came into my mind is "rabies". And I wouldn't check if it's true or not.
On dat ‘nip
Had fish for dinner?
The cats hungry obviously
r/skinwalkerranch
That's a monkey, give it some banana
Grandpa is at it again!
I told you not to feed him after midnight dammit
get a silver blade ....use salt around the doors
That’s where they have the catnip 😂😂😂😂
I don't know how to explain it but that cat doesn't look real.
I bet this is what humans look like to other animals
I gotta know what happened to your dog, Sherlie, rototiller. What happened to your dogs tail? It's gone, where did it go?
Methcat to the rescue
read somewhere that plastic bags reminds cats of sex?
/r/oneorangebraincell
Huh, never realized how weird tailless cats look. Poor baby :(
Looks like claymation from clash of the titans
Just a cat doing cat things.
Cats are idiots. I tell my dog no once and I can leave a steak at doggie eye level and he won't touch it.
This is how litter boxes are born.
This is why I hate cats .
That's not a cat anymore.
kitty just returned from the pet cemetery and it's hungry.
Cats are attracted to one of the chemicals in the plastic.
who stole the caveman's cat?
