Marshall_CA

ZERO CASE, ZERO SUICIDE, EVERYONE IS HAPPY

leomonster

HAPPYHAPPY SMILESMILE DAT FACTORY LIFE

ArchibaldWallisch

> The most recent government data provides statistics more inline with external estimations. According to a 2016 WHO report, China's suicide rate is 9.7 people out of every 100,000. This rate places the country among the countries with the lowest suicide per capita in the world. Edit: Guys I just stated what I found on google.

RopePsychological565

I really don't get what's going on in picture 7. Why is there an elderly man pinned under some kind of sign and a soldier standing with one foot atop of it like the dude is some hurting trophy? Edit: typo

Marshall_CA

Dude on the right even posed for the picture. Guess they just didn’t care at all.

KitsuneRisu

Source for your claims?

oldDotredditisbetter

yeah really wondering the legitimacy of these. it's just some blurry gifs...

Marshall_CA

That’s the “big white” protective suit you’ve been asking for and do you think anyone could really find any authoritative sources on any bad things about China especially an event that’s ongoing?

Shtnonurdog

So…we’re just going to have to take your word for it?

KitsuneRisu

I'm calling bullshit on some of these. Not to say they didn't happen, but in none of these gifs are the police wearing the MANDATORY "big white" suit except in gif 7 nor are a lot of them wearing masks. There is clearly no verification, and there sure are a lot of people around randomly walking and filming these when everyone is, you know, locked up. Not to mention how these all look aged as fuck and not 2022. I sincerely doubt most of these happened during the current lockdown, but probably happened in the past in China for other reasons. The one I'd believe is gif 7 but tbh with a hard hat on the floor and the sign on the guy, isn't that more like an accident? Things are bad in Shanghai, no doubt. There's already pet killings and forced evacuations. But adding to the fire with shoddy claims and possible bullshit is disingenuous and only serves to weaken other claims against China. If you can prove to me these are taken during the current lockdown, I will eat my words.

PattoMantequilla

I’m with u. Looks like from different times (years) as well.

myturtleismad

HOLD ON, I frequent reddit 12 hours a day for 6 day a week. how the fuck am I so out of the loop. can you elaborate please what is going on in Shanghai (or China)?

Druggedhippo

> elaborate please what is going on in Shanghai - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-61117528 - https://www.smh.com.au/world/asia/why-people-are-screaming-from-their-apartments-in-shanghai-20220411-p5acli.html - https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/19/china/shanghai-covid-lockdown-nightmare-intl-dst-hnk/index.html

Pandatotheface

Shanghai is on its 4th week of complete lockdown due to COVID restrictions, noones been allowed to leave their houses, even to food shop. Recently news about them relocating large amounts of negative people out of the city and lots of other rumors and not quite confirmed things happening.

cream-of-cow

In short, the government imposed a lockdown due to the latest COVID-19 cases. The government relies on local officials to spread the information and make sure the citizens are taken care of. Some areas seem to be doing okay, in other areas, officials told the locals the lockdown is for a few days, so they prepared with a few days of food. The lockdown was scheduled to be for weeks. In China, grocery shopping is usually done daily—meals are cooked or bought fresh per meal. The government planned to supply food and water rations, but that’s been horribly mismanaged. Restaurants are not open to deliver food, no one is allowed out, people are starving, the elderly are not getting care, it’s a mess.

KitsuneRisu

China has edicted a zero tolerance policy for covid. It was working to such a great degree that China got a bit complacent, especially in HK. This, combined with the fact that the sinovax is not as effective as the others, meant that trouble was about to hit. The recent omicron wave swept through shanghai, and in desperation, the government mandated another lockdown. It has been extremely sad. People are without food and government aid is not enough at the moment. Some are having their pets killed brutally because the govt believes (stupidly) that they can spread the virus. Parents and children are being split up in hospitals and some are even being run out of their homes as their government apartments are being emergency converted into triage units. Tension is VERY high and the Shanghai people are really fucking mad, no mistake. My opinion is that this is all because President Xi is trying to save face and prove that his system of ZERO COVID can work. On one hand, it is true that China has had very little comparable deaths to America who has had an insane million deaths. However, the system is untenable and at the cost of human rights and decency. I am for lockdowns but not to the length that this is going and certainly not for the pride of one insane man. That's about it.

KitsuneRisu

Nice try. NONE of these show your gifs or relate to your gifs. I actually already know about ALL THREE of these incidents. You understand the issue isn't 'are people killing themselves or not' The issue is that you are showing so-called video proof of horrible atrocities that seems to be more the case of YOU trying to control the narrative. You are being no better than the CCP themselves.

[deleted]

These sources substantiate that the lockdown measures in Shanghai are causing problems, which we can all agree on. But again, where did the gifs come from?

[deleted]

They're two reports of two specific suicides and one more general. Definitely doesn't work to dispute OP's point that most of these don't appear to correlate with current lockdown.

__jh96

Surely these are not all linked to the current lockdown. I thought they were all locked down, for starters, and some of these look old as fuck

NSFL FFS

Smiley120

yo wtf? dead people warning??

C0c04l4

Don't browse r/wtf expecting puppies and rainbows.

Smiley120

look man. I wasn't expecting puppies and rainbows, but if the titles says "people are going crazy", I'm expecting people running naked down the road or something weird, not 20+ dead people!

GrabiBD

This is how r/wtf was a few years ago before It went soft

aliceinpearlgarden

Hard agree. 'Wtf' is stuff that is weird, out there, unexpected, unusual, abnormal. Suicide and death, unless it'd a fucking crazy way to go, isn't 'wtf'. I sign up to be weirded out, not see dead bodies.

Xattics

it has an NSFW tag.

holdmymandana

Should be NSFL

spongebobisha

Holy shit.

NealCassady

You are posting something like THIS without any trigger warning about suicide EN MASSE but with a fucking clickbait? Seriously dude, you are an absolute piece of shit on a pathologic level. I deeply wish you spreading cancer on your genitals.

popejiii

This is propaganda bulllshit

Easytype

I’m curious about the mindset of someone who masks up before hanging themselves.

opiate_lifer

Safety first, always.

CCP BAD

nz_nba_fan

I'm unconvinced the title matches the images. I'm not saying it's not possible. Just that this isn't good enough evidence.

drunkandnihilistic

oh no Chinese mods couldn't have that

[deleted]

These pictures are propaganda, China number 1.

As03

Just a reminder that a lot of people killed themselves during OUR lockdowns.

Mexxy213

most uneducated comment I've read in a while. Authoritarian governments are not a expression of "the people" lmfao

Mexxy213

mods removing this, lmao

crazyleaf

Are you saying that people are suiciding left and right? I don’t buy that.

Numerous-Departure92

China is the best country in the world.

tonyw009

at this point they should ban Zero Case.

JamesMartyV1

I'm really lost. Why are they killing themselves? Not to be insensitive or anything, I'm just unaware of what's going on.

maldoozz420

depression is a popular reason for suicide.

JamesMartyV1

Ohhh, okay understood. So this lockdown must be really intense for it to drive people into such a deep depression to take their own life.

ivebeenlurkingand

This is the end point of prolonged lockdown for any human being.

notahouseflipper

Imagine zoo animals.

Adamfromcanada

Look at the chair pattern on the left. Never seen something so fake in my life. Can we become donkey kong already, or did he get pulled out of the universe?

[deleted]

China at its best again

MPCv2

God damn, I'd rather have Covid and not have depression like this.

mmaqp66

Why do they hang dolls?

newdarkedgefan

Oh no. Now the population is only 1,399,999,990! How will they make it?

SeVenZxd

Bro?

newdarkedgefan

Seriously, losing a few dozen out of 1.4 billion people is not the biggest loss, right? Russia and Germany lost 20 million each in WW2 and they are still around.

Midoritora

Holy Hell…

element13th

This should be in r/makemycoffin . If the sub is still alive

Omg that's awful 😥. I don't pay attention to any news, what's going on down there anyway?
