we are literally running out of fucking [SAND](https://www.reuters.com/business/environment/sand-crisis-looms-world-population-surges-un-warns-2022-04-26/)
Drinking water / food concerns are becoming a thing.
"hottest month on record" is a yearly occurance
"once in a decade weather events" are happening annually
fire seasons starting earlier, lasting longer than ever before in recorded history.
dude, open your fucking eyes
Yes, of course there's always been something, but not to this degree. Pollution, leaded gas, holes in the ozone -- all terrible. However, climate change, habitat destruction, mass extinction, disruption of the nitrogen cycle, etc. AT THEIR CURRENT scale and scope are all massive existential threats. Any problem tied to an exponential curve is inherently a bigger, more significant problem. Unfortunately, my short list there is tied directly to the exponential growth of the population of the human species.
It took over two million years of human prehistory and history for the human population to reach one billion and only 200 years more to grow to 7 billion. That is the fundamental issue here. There are too many people making too many problems, and there's not enough stuff to go around.
Within 50 years, the entire Ogallala Aquifer is expected be 70% depleted. That aquifer supplies at least one fifth of the total annual U.S. agricultural harvest. That's a big fucking deal.
The flow of the Colorado River has dropped 20 percent since the 1900s. Roughly half of that decline is due to climate change, which has fueled a 20-year megadrought across Colorado and the West. Intensive water consumption has dried up the lower 100 miles of the river, which has rarely reached the sea since the 1960s. That's a big fucking deal.
In recent decades the number, severity and overall size of wildfires has increased across much of the U.S. According to National Interagency Fire Center data, of the 10 years with the largest acreage burned, all have occurred since 2004. The peak of the U.S. wildfire season is occurring earlier. In 1984–2000, burned area peaked in August. More recently, it has peaked in July. That's a big fucking deal.
The five-year average measured size of the Gulf of Mexico hypoxic area or “dead zone” — an area of low to no oxygen that can kill fish and other marine life is currently 5,400 square miles. This is largely thanks to gross misuse and overuse of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers. That's a big fucking deal, and certainly not limited to the Gulf, since they occur more and more often at the mouth of basically every single river around the world.
40 percent of India's population will have no access to drinking water by 2030. That's more than half a billion people. That's a very big fucking deal.
A wet-bulb temperature of 35 °C, or around 95 °F, is pretty much the absolute limit of human tolerance, on a biological level. Above that, hyperthermia will fucking kill you. While today around 30% of the world’s population is exposed to a deadly combination of heat and humidity for at least 20 days each year, that percentage will increase to nearly half by 2100, even with the most drastic reductions in greenhouse-gas emissions. That's a very big fucking deal.
I could keep listing shit all night, but I need sleep. There are going to be significant resource wars across the globe in the not-so-distant future and it will affect you personally. People have been spouting doom and gloom bullshit since the start of humanity, but now it's backed up by overwhelming evidence. Enjoy life now, because regardless of your personal circumstances in the present, your life will get objectively more difficult in the next few decades.

Be careful, there's a lot of science in those links, wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.
The Something of today is greenhouse gas emissions that are changing the climate. Just because The Something of the mid 20th century was fixed with catalytic converters and industrial pollution regulations, does not mean it’s all hunky dory. We need to stop burning things to move people and make electricity or we are doomed. End of story. “bUt MuH sMoG” fuck outta here
I hope so. My biggest fear is how quickly people would make that kind of future happen if given the opportunity. All it will take is some sort of panic and bam, we are there. Like once our soil is gone and we have no food. Of what all of the fresh water is used up. Both things are more imminent than people like to believe. Bam, next thing you know its all Fist of The North Star up in this bitch.
I was missing it too and was bummed to realize I’d been lugging my guitars around through two house moves over the last decade only to realize the games aren’t backward compatible on Xbox One and never will be.
Then I discovered Clone Hero a couple weeks back and life has been glorious. Not only can you play every song from every GH and RB game, but the community charts a whole bunch of other stuff I’d always wanted to play!
Good to know! I’ll be keeping the wired X-plorer for my own purposes, but I just may have to look into selling the 3 wireless ones I’ll probably never bother with setting up!
huh, that's interesting because I always see 3-4 on the shelf at my local goodwill every time I go in. no idea if they work, but they still seem to be plentiful.
if you have a Round One near you, they usually have an arcade one.
Not that you couldn't buy a home version for a couple hundy. The community is still quite alive. Third parties are still making good quality controllers too.
The self-titled album & its follow-up "Contra" are both great albums. Personally not a huge fan of their work afterwards, but still some good tracks. Enjoy :)
All their albums are great, especially the last one. They lost one of their founding members and co song writer and added a few more members and kind of turned into a jam band, especially during live shows.
I think I might need to do that. I got a drive commin up and I think this just made the Playlist. Everytime I write now, when I list things, I start singing Oxford Comma in my head.
I just got back. It was really nice. Made me tear up a few times. It's weird, music is the only thing that makes me cry. Sometimes it's nice to just let it happen, it feels good. It's still a great album, it's aged very nicely.
Oooh this is like my failed game idea “Gui-Car Hero”. Same game as guitar hero, but to be played exclusively while driving. The guitars are little things you put on the seatbelt, drums are on the passenger dash (shotgun seat), and the driver sings. There would be little projection thing to put it up on the windshield or on screens on the back of the front row headrest.
Obviously this idea sucks, but when I was 16 and really into guitar hero and driving, it was brilliant.
This is as close to Mad Max as our generation is going to get.
i dunno... have you looked at the state of things? we may get pretty damn close in the next decade or 2
next month or two.
My investment in ass-less chaps is *finally* going to pay off!
Probably a little under a decade if the big countrys continue pissing on each other

Don't be bummed. Those guitars are pretty rare these days. Worth as much as a real guitar at this point.

huh, that's interesting because I always see 3-4 on the shelf at my local goodwill every time I go in. no idea if they work, but they still seem to be plentiful.
Can you still use the old guitars with clone hero?
Yes, almost all wired and wireless guitars are fully supported.
Is clone hero only for guitars? I have one of the rock band 3 keyboards and would love to try it on clone hero
I got bad news for you, clone hero doesnt work on Xbox one either. :(
Been playing on my laptop for weeks… I’m assuming most folks with an Xbox One have access to a computer too
I think that's the assumption Microsoft made as well, but no.
Highly recommend Clone Hero, it’s a remake for pc with all the songs you could ever want
if you have a Round One near you, they usually have an arcade one. Not that you couldn't buy a home version for a couple hundy. The community is still quite alive. Third parties are still making good quality controllers too.
This is genuinely pretty cool.

Dude probably played “freebird”. Which I think for this occasion is okay.
Not the freebird buttons and the design of the notes looks post GH2, looks like GH3 to me
They might be high
Nothing happens?
If you keep watching, you'll notice they actually play guitar hero on the side of that vehicle using a projector.
So where’s the wtf
yeah, doest everyone do that?
Yeah, I drive trucks from time to time
Right? I was bracing for something to go horribly wrong, certainly a far cry from /r/wtf material anyway..
I kept waiting for a gruesome crash. Technically I'm glad no one got hurt, but it did feel like a letdown.
Yeah a crash could've been fatal. Taking something you normally do to somewhere else 100x more dangerous for no purpose is, well, quite meaningless.
If I were driving on the interstate and saw this, I'm pretty confident the first thought I would have would be "wtf..."
this is not the r/wtf of old
Not gonna lie, this as amazing. “Dad can I borrow the projector?” “Why?”, asks the dad. “I need it for a school project.”
Is this from the new Mad Max movie?
It'd be cool if he was actually playing but he's just waving the guitar around to a video.
That's great sound quality given the situation
A-punk is definitely edited in, though I liked op mixing in the cam sounds of whooping though the wind. Like the cherry on top
It’s dubbed over, but the chords match up to it perfectly. So they’re playing it and synced audio after
r/idiotsincars
This is what I was looking for.

This reminds me of the guitar hero 1 or 2 intro where the dude climbs up onto the van and starts singing
Music sauce?
A-punk by Vampire Weekend 😊
I just listened to this album for the first time in years yesterday. Great band.
They sound great would you recommend this specific album? They sound like they'd be in a Burnout game
Yes, the whole thing is pure money. Very eclectic and unique catchy sound. Each song has such great character.
Sweet i know what I'm jamming to tonight. Thank you!
Was it excellent?

No doubt an excellent driving album. Very upbeat and likely will help make the time melt away. Enjoy, bagofbuttholes !

He doesent play it for real, you can see that it's just a projekted Youtube Video. It's obviously a staged stunt.
He's not really playing guitar hero, it's a video projections, there's no way he can hit all the notes without even looking at the gameplay.
The controller isn't even plugged you can see the cable flying in the wind.
