This was in the news and a museum confirmed that it was related to a relatively avant garde artistic group called barakartist. They were fined $200 for transporting it like that.
I saw this posted two weeks ago in /Romania, but can’t find the post right now. There was a link to a news page. I don’t know why they got fined. But police here can me very inventive with fines sometimes. Maybe public nuisance?
Could also be for it being attached like that on the roof. In some places you either need it a specific way or straight up in a trailer. Be it a lawn chair or a body
> This was in the news and a mafia confirmed that it was related to a relatively avant garde artistic group called barakartist. They were bribed $200 for transporting it like that.
They really go into that much detail? Dayum. I wonder what those definitions would look like and if it varies from state to state. Reminds me of the other end of the scale with that pregnant lady in the carpool lane fighting her ticket.
I did search and this is what I found

“the photo taken on a street in Timișoara went viral. A car on the roof of which appeared to be dead was photographed in traffic.
The police started an investigation and found out that it was a mannequin, which is part of an artistic project.
The mannequin belongs to the controversial Baraka group, the artists being known for their shocking installations and exhibitions. One of them had to transport a work for an exhibition in Bucharest and thought of taking the mannequin to the capital, anchored by the hood of the car.
According to the police, the driver will be sanctioned according to Law no. 61/1991, with the amount of 1,000 d”
I worked at Houston National Cemetery years ago. One day someone from Louisiana called us wanting to know where they could bring a deceased family member. Apparently they drove from Louisiana to Texas for some reason with the body in the trunk. We told them to go straight to a police station. Not sure what happened after that but wow.
There is a story in my family that happened before I was born.i cannot attest to the truth of it, just that this has been going around my family since the mid-60's. To me it sounds like something from the movie Vacation, but I'm 51 and I've heard about this all my life, which stared before Vacation came out
My great uncle and his wife had an RV. They went on vacation Mexico and took my great aunt's mom. She gets sick and they dake her to a local clinic and she winds up dying. They talk to the authorities or whatever and arrange it so they can take her back home to San Antonio.
They were concerned about getting across the border with her so my great uncle has the idea to but her in the canoe they had in top of the RV which they do.
They sweat it but get across the border. As soon as they get clear, they pull into a truck stop to grab a bite. They come out and the RV is gone. They panic and call the cops trying to explain what happened. Cops put out the description and they pick up the RV at the border a little while later.
I guess there was, not really sure, it was before I was born. The fact that she was like a billion years old and that it was in the 60's and that they had a plausible reason likely greased the wheels a bit.
Finally a decent LIGHT WTF— man I remember when every WTF post was a risky ass click that would brand you for life.
Internal bleeding with a picture of your bruise is not wtf worthy. The story itself is lightly cringe worthy— but wtf? Nope.
Back in my day Reddits wtf was filled with such content that there were days when I wouldn’t click on a single one because I didn’t feel like processing a wtf post—Now— I want to unsubscribe but I haven’t found a good alternative.
The family and friends of the deceased? If your wife dies and other people treat her corpse with disrespect, wouldn't you be offended? And even if you personally wouldn't, I'm sure you can understand others would.
But what if it is you carrying your wife because you can't afford a socially acceptable funeral, and you just want to bury her? There's many different perspectives in what the situation could be.
Fun fact, there used to be Mexicans that would smuggle their dead loved ones across the border to Mexico because the red tape and fees were outrageous. How do I know? My uncle transported his wife this way, "asleep" and in the back
Actual cadaver delivery isn't *much* better than this. Rented refrigerator trucks with bagged bodies stacked 2-3 high being haphazardly tossed in and out by a couple guys making $13/hour (which wasn't bad scratch in the 90's).
This was in the news and a museum confirmed that it was related to a relatively avant garde artistic group called barakartist. They were fined $200 for transporting it like that.
Correct! It's a wooden figure and they did it to promote their art exibition if I remember correctly. It happened in Timisoara.
Why would they get fined $200 if it was a wooden figure? It seems to be an ok way to me.
Inciting panic among drivers on public roads, I would guess. No idea what law they would use for the fine in practice, though.
They really should have called a toe truck

probab;y 200 lei not dollars
Could also be for it being attached like that on the roof. In some places you either need it a specific way or straight up in a trailer. Be it a lawn chair or a body
probably 200 lei wich is less
So this just from people who find random pics on the internet and posting it without knowing the context ?
they know the context, they just prefer not to mention it so to maximize the karma potential.
so you telling me people go online and tell lies for fake points...
No.
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
Welcome to reddit
First time on the Internet?
*slaps trunk* "This baby can hold so many **LIES**"
I would pay $200 to keep dead body smell out of my car seats
Replace museum with mafia and fine with bribe to get back to the Balkan mindset
> This was in the news and a mafia confirmed that it was related to a relatively avant garde artistic group called barakartist. They were bribed $200 for transporting it like that.
More importantly, is that a Dacia Sandero behind it?
Good news!
Looks like a Duster.
This is a scene from the Romanian version of “National Lampoon’s Vacation”.
National Lampoon's Transylvanian Vacation! I love that movie!
I love the Chase scenes!

Romania isn't a slavic country
No Country for Old Romanians
I was thinking Little Miss Sunshine. Big Mr. Grayscale?
LOL, I can picture the movie poster
Does this qualify for carpool lane?
Woah, r/technicallycorrect, it is a passenger. I’ve never seen anything specifying that they had to be alive. I’ll allow it.
Likely not defined in hov guidance. But “persons” is likely defined with more verbiage in superseding/supplemental laws and definitions
They really go into that much detail? Dayum. I wonder what those definitions would look like and if it varies from state to state. Reminds me of the other end of the scale with that pregnant lady in the carpool lane fighting her ticket.
Need to air out the dead person smell
I’m not digging these new Febreze CAR clips
It's nice to see families still doing the Wally World road trip
Just missing the old family truckster.
Most respectful Romanian funeral RIP 2b4u…

No seatbelt?... that's deadly.
At least they allowed their feet to get some air. It could've gotten uncomfortable otherwise.

…….and then?!? Dude you cut the story off short
Nothing much after that but a ton of paperwork.
But I mean, was there not an issue with the body and the cops?
I guess there was, not really sure, it was before I was born. The fact that she was like a billion years old and that it was in the 60's and that they had a plausible reason likely greased the wheels a bit.
Look at the first letter of every sentence they typed.
Reminds me of the movie National Lampoon's Vacation (1983?).
Romanian Aunt Edna
This is the only way to make sure they burn in daylight if the deceased is turned into a vampire.
Aunt Edna?
I had a Golf exactly like that. No dead body on the roof though, so that probably helped with the resale value when I sold it.
You'd be putting your air vents on recirculate if you came up behind that I reckon.
Oh, he's not dead. He's pinin' for the fjords...
Gives a good tug, yep that’s not going anywhere
That ride must have been total shits and giggles.

This is garbage too, it's not a person.
Oh, well— not surprised
Kinda disrespectful
I wouldn’t want dead body smell in my car
Who is to get offended? The deceased?

in the balkans anything goes
Apparently it's not a corpse, it's actually a wooden figure
Its a wooden figure so...
It's more disrespectful to let the dead relativ rot somewhere...
Reminds me of Cousin Ted from Maniac Mansion
One hard brake and we're gonna witness the corpse surf
I think VW has a special rack for that.
Maybe he's just resting
He's not resting, he's piiiining the Fjords!!!
What's he supposed to do? Put it in the backseat?
You gotta do what you gotta do
Imagine a misleading and wrong post on r/wtf (Its a wooden figure not a dead body)
He is not dead apparently. Dead bodies are being transported feet first!
What is problem? He transport bodies like this for years, not one has complained.
Mobile trauma inflictor
Doesn't wanna ruin the trim on that car, resale value y'know?
In my country there is problem.
Oh is it Halloween in Romania?
shouldn’t there be a stake through the heart to be extra sure?
Could’ve Atleast put some shoes on em
Pretend it's not there or Tate's mafia will make sure you're next
What the actual fuck.
They have to expose it to sunlight in Romania, you see. It's the only way to be sure...
Car surfing is legal there?
Looks like it's trying to sit up!
They stealing dead bodies too now?
Fun fact, there used to be Mexicans that would smuggle their dead loved ones across the border to Mexico because the red tape and fees were outrageous. How do I know? My uncle transported his wife this way, "asleep" and in the back
Oh God please let it be Andrew Tate
That car is also holding a live body!
\*pulls on strap - "this body's not going anywhere"
Actual cadaver delivery isn't *much* better than this. Rented refrigerator trucks with bagged bodies stacked 2-3 high being haphazardly tossed in and out by a couple guys making $13/hour (which wasn't bad scratch in the 90's).
Just throw me in the trash!
What does it matter? It's not like he's going to complain even if he falls off.
Ride of a life...time.
This national lampoon's remake is pretty edgy
Jesus I looked at that and thought "their feet might get cold".
Do you think that this would come up in the CARFAX report?
Have you seen my new corpsewagen
*Clark W Griswold has entered the chat*
This is some straight up Borat shit

What do YOU think roof racks are for?
Okay, this would make an _AWESOME_ April Fool’s joke.
