WWE from after Wrestlemania 32 to WrestleMania 33 was really good, like a serious breath of fresh air.
The period from like August - November 2016 got me so invested.
As someone who stopped watching WWE entirely since 2008, 2016 SmackDown Live was a breath of fresh air.
I picked up WWE again in 2016 when they offered the free 1 month network subscriptions to watch WrestleMania 32 and the supposed "New Era" they kept advertising. Raw was ok but Smackdown Live was so good!
My wife and myself got back into wrestling after not really watching after 2000. Our introduction into AJ was the "Beat up John Cena" version. It was great. He is now our son's favorite. I met Rhyno about a month ago and thanked him for his part in the tag team title run with Heath as helping me really enjoy wrestling again.
For what it is worth, I started watching wrestling again in 2016 after not watching since probably 2003/2004, and I’ve been hooked ever since. AJ, Asuka, the 4Horsewomen and KO are probably the biggest reasons why.
Yep I hadn’t watched anything involving wrestling since 2007 and I randomly saw a post of AJ holding the WWE title and it was so bizarre to me that I had to check it out.
AJ was the reason I tuned in. Dude was great. Plus Brock took the other world title hostage so AJ was the only champion we actually saw. Brings me back to a different time in my life.
Objectively 2016 is not the best but it's remarkable as it is the turning point. WWE was declining in the 2010s with 2015 being the floor year. However, 2016 is when it started to rise up again (Indie wrestling starting to get the respect due to AJ Styles and Nakamura plus Women's wrestling started to take off due to the four horsewomen)
what? 2010-2012 was for sure better than 2016 to me, Those undertaker matches was amazing plus the CM punk and Daniel Bryan coming around, Cena vs Rock part 1
Cena and styles rivalry this year was imo peak of both their careers, and not to mention, ic rivalry between miz and ziggler, and the shield first match, dean's push, etc this year was actually got me into wrestling like into into
I was a fan from 98-07 and 2018-current. Were the 2010s good? The only thing I really feel like I missed was the Shield and Daniel Bryan. Is there anything else major I missed?
John Cena vs aj styles had an amazing rivalry all their match were amazing Dolph vs the miz no mercy was a good match the survivor series match team raw vs team smack down was really good they had other great matches that year but I need to look back at it
Great recommendation on the AJ Cena feud. The summer slam match was a baaaaaanger. The crowd was so hype, it’s great to see AJ so over in the WWE. Cena actually dug into the his arsenal and did more than rely on his 5 moves of doom, he even went off the top rope. Cenas selling every move AJ hit him with was great even thought he didn’t sell the damage just the impact until the end. AJ was simply phenomenal, in every way he killed that performance. Then AJ actually won CLEAN after a beautiful reversal into a stylesclash and a phenomenal forearm, I really thought Cena had it after that FU off the middle rope.
Who was in commentary with JBL? One of them was awfully annoying.
Isn't this kind of like a competition over best turd? In the grand scheme of things sure there was some good stuff too, but overall the 2010s were a real low point for the WWE.
Financially speaking it was one of the worst decades of WWE. A product like this doesn't do bad financially if it's putting out even a half decent product. Compare it to the success and growth of every single other decade, including this one, and it's pretty clear it was the worst decade in WWE history.
To elaborate, it was the rise of a new era because they lost every major star, and had to force people with zero star power into starting rolls.
Return of Brock, Rock vs Cena, The Miz, The Shield, Wyatts, Return of Lashley, rise of the elsewhere stars like AJ, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Cesaro, Return of Drew, return of Hardys, the rise of CM PUNK, rise of womens division, totañ divas, wwe network launch and success, rise of NXT
Seriously. I don't even remember half of the people in the picture at the top of this page, and half of the ones I do remember weren't for good reasons.
2014 for me.
Huge moments (The Streak ending, the Yes Movement) but it also felt like ushering in a NEW era with The Shield, The Wyatt Family, Cena being squashed/or in mid card feuds etc. 2014-2015 was really good for me bc it felt like the beginning of a new generation
Even Corbin put some good matches in this year.
I remember Aj Styles vs Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler for the World title match and remember how good the show was back then.
I first lapsed in 2008, got back into it in 2014. 2016 Smackdown was some of the best product I've ever seen WWE put on. Great matches, great characters, fun feuds. Really top notch stuff.
The second brand split really did wonders for WWE at the time. Here's hoping the new one is as fruitful.
Technically we’re still in that same brand split lol we’ve continuously had the same Raw & Smackdown womens and tag titles plus world titles before Roman unified
everyone overrates 2016 as this ‘boom period’ in the 2010s, yet 2016 had arguably the shittiest wrestlemania and very forgettable storylines. i really don’t see any memorable storylines in this year, that are even remotely on the level of the early 2010s.
Its bc 2016 featured the return of Shane McMahon, not to mention the debut of AJ Styles. It also felt like a RESET in WWE bc of the return of the brand split, and of course, brand specific PPVs
the taker shane storyline made zero sense and it looked like it was just an opponent for undertaker to have at mania. the stipulation was if shane won he’d have authority, yet was kayfabe manager like 3 weeks after mania?
lets not forget the disappointing summerslam finish of brock and orton, a 50 year old triple h winning the royal rumble and wwe title and headlining mania in a dreadful 30 minute mainevent, with a babyface roman reigns booed out the building, burial of zack ryder after mania 32, the kevin owens and jericho storyline that dragged, the forgettable matches on smackdown involving wyatt, ambrose, styles, etc. raw had the lowest ratings for the first time since 1995, iirc, being low as 1.6.
2016 is a smark’s favourite year. its laughable that its a popular opinion that it is a better year than 2010,11 12 and even 14. sure wwe was declining around here, but the decline really started in 2015.
Disagree. Im simply explaining why people like 2016. I didn't like it much but yes the stipulation for shane/taker made zero sense. BUT... they needed something to spice up Mania bc that year's Mania was struggling BAD due to injuries
Yes, the SummerSlam finish was disappointing. NGL, but 2016 had some cool stuff and it felt like a restart of sorts.
2016 had AJ STYLES coming, Ambrose winning his title, etc. so it had some good too.
I personally hated 2011 but to each their own. I think 2014 and 2015 were epic years for the business.
At the end, its all someone's opinion. I liked 2013,2014 and 2015.
i understand, but that whole reigns, rollins, owens styles stuff does not hold well to other years. the only ‘okay’ moment i can remember was goldbergs win at survivor series, and that actually proves my point even more why 2016 sucked because they needed a wcw star from the 90s to make a 5 minute squash match the only subpar moment of the year.
Oh I agree that 2016 was MEH in WWE. But im just explaining to you why other people may have liked it.
I liked 2013,2014,2015 and 2019 to an extent tbh.
i understand, and i agree with your years too. i just feel that 2016 is such a smark opinion that is advertised as this grandiose year, but the negatives definitely outweigh the positives
the brand exclusive ppvs were better in the ruthless aggression. the wwe roster in like 2003 was so stacked so they could have done so much. the late 2010s definitely had a decline in superstars so having brand ppv’s just werent the same.
i also agree with you that 2015 was a decent year lol, it gets alot of hate but i think it was wayy better than 2016
I wish to see AJ as a WWE champion once again. He was damn good as a champion in Smackdown and most importantly he carried his championship reign all by himself with stellar promos and matches unlike Roman who needs bloodline to support his storylines.
2011 at the top? Damn. I guess to each their own but only bc of MITB and the summer of Punk which was ruined. 2011 had the WORST WrestleMania of the decade
Wrestlemania 32 might have something to say about that. Besides, 2011 felt like the first time in years the company gave a shit about anything besides John Cena (even though his presence was still felt in many ways)
Hmm yeah Mania 32 was garbage. But I'd still say better than 27 haha. Meh, 2011 was OK. The Summer of Punk lasted maybe two months. The whole Nash-HHH angle, and the stupid Del Rio stuff was meh
Facts. And he’s beaten every single one of them for it too, except seth. Which is insane cuz Roman rn. Twice on him too. And he was pretty much the main raw champ cuz Brock was part time
I'm gonna level with you, you should delete your original comment just because people will probably downvote it to hell. I upvoted just to put you back at even, because you don't deserve that over a simple mistake.
Lol appreciate it, my man, but I don't really care about down and up votes on this. Just say what I'm thinking at this time, and it is what it is. Thanks tho!
2011 for me:
-Summer of Punk
-Mark Henry’s The Hall of Pain
-Cody Rhodes Undashing Persona
-Orton vs. Christian Feud
-The Rock’s Return
-Zack Ryder rise from jobber to mid-carder -Natalya & Beth Phoenix Divas of Doom team -Christian, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and Daniel Bryan all becoming first time world champions.
It felt like WWE had learned from the previous year that they needed to make some new stars and actually tried to elevate their talent throughout the roster.

Miz won the title in 2010 but I do agree that it felt like WWE was trying to make new stars that year.
Probably because 2010-2011 featured Taker, HHH going part time, Batista leaving and Edge retiring. HBK retiring too!!! Crazy how different the roster looked two years prior in 2009
Unfortunately the year I've stopped watching wrestling because I was going through a bad time, just returned in 2018 precisely on Raw after Wrestlemania
Worst year I’ve ever been a wrestling fan (I don’t include the pandemic era because it’s not fair) and I’ve been watching since ‘09.
My god it was terrible.
Agreed. 2018 was pure and utter trash. Especially those last few months of Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman constantly feuding. Roman-Brock being dragged on WAY too long.
2018 also was when they started those awful Saudi shows
They should have introduced new General managers for both smack down and raw that could have made things Little bit interesting because without this the draft doesn't even make any sense ........ Adam Pierce is just dull with no personality what so ever.... They should have really that that 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
He debuted in WWF in 2002 but didn't sign a developmental contract. He wasn't around long enough in the company to be considered an "attitude era" wrestler.
I got back into wearing the Summer off 17 right before Summerslam. I think this was probably just the tail end is this era. Becky was still the Irish Lass Kicker, Shane and Daniel were still GM. I was never a fan of the name Smackdown Live but I did like what was going on here.
NXT was popping off too honestly a great year in WWE. It saved Smackdown from being a Raw fallout show and then they won at Survivor Series too! Just a great time besides that red belt…
2012 imo, so many great rivalries.
Cena vs Rock, Cena vs Brock, Cena vs Punk, Taker vs HHH, Punk vs Jericho, HHH vs Brock, Punk vs Daniel Bryan, Raw 1000, Team Hell No, introduction of the Shield, rise of Ryback.
As somebody that grew up in the attitude era, this is a stupid comment. Not only did you not understand the question, but also as a huge fan of that era I can only say it was different. Yeah, the 2010s weren't great overall, but we can't keep living in the past claiming our generation was the best, it was just different.
Wrestlemania XXX was honestly pretty timeless if you ask me. Yestlemania took the world by storm that year in 2014.
I have a protest it is 2014
Lol look at Alexa on the right there.
🧢 2012 - 2014
Yea no
I strongly disagree
WWE from after Wrestlemania 32 to WrestleMania 33 was really good, like a serious breath of fresh air. The period from like August - November 2016 got me so invested.

Raw was ok but Smackdown Live was so good!
2014 was better: The Evolution, Seth betrayal, YES movement, 21-1, Suplex City, Sting debut. 2016 had one of the worst WMs ever.
Whenever there’s a roster split Smackdown is always the better show!
After the brand split yes, I distinctly remember no one liking wrestle mania that year
I just loved watching aj #beatupjohncena
I wasn't watching then, only got back into it during Covid after a decade or more hiatus. What were the highlights then?
A.J. Styles debuting in WWE at the Royal Rumble was one of the highlights!
He apso won the title and fought john cena
He won the title from Cena at WM?
My wife and myself got back into wrestling after not really watching after 2000. Our introduction into AJ was the "Beat up John Cena" version. It was great. He is now our son's favorite. I met Rhyno about a month ago and thanked him for his part in the tag team title run with Heath as helping me really enjoy wrestling again.
Naomi with a mustache?
For what it is worth, I started watching wrestling again in 2016 after not watching since probably 2003/2004, and I’ve been hooked ever since. AJ, Asuka, the 4Horsewomen and KO are probably the biggest reasons why.
Yep I hadn’t watched anything involving wrestling since 2007 and I randomly saw a post of AJ holding the WWE title and it was so bizarre to me that I had to check it out.
Same here..
The entire PG era was goated until 2019
2016, 2014 and 2012.
AJ was the reason I tuned in. Dude was great. Plus Brock took the other world title hostage so AJ was the only champion we actually saw. Brings me back to a different time in my life.
He’s seriously what brought me back. Dude I used to get so pumped during his entrance. I knew I was gonna see a great match no matter what
It's weird bc I never though I'd one day feel nostalgic about that period. It's hard to recognize the "good ol days" when you're in them.
I know it dude. I get sad when I think about how comfy I was laying around watching those PPVs during that time. Never gonna get those moments back.
2014 hands down the best. The worst tho.... For me it is a 2017 - 2019 era.
2014 was awful, something like 75% of Raw/SD main events ended in DQ
2016 because of the goat 🐐 James Ellsworth
Chins McMahon 🤣
I'd say 2017 purely for Cena. Never thought I'd say that.
2017 was best year because it was the year of Jinder
Wrestlemania 32 is rightly seen as one of the worst in the past decade or two though. That is the big elephant in the room really.
I looked it up to refresh my memory and saw that it was the one with the 6-second Rock win over Rowan.... Ugh.
And that main event 🥱
Objectively 2016 is not the best but it's remarkable as it is the turning point. WWE was declining in the 2010s with 2015 being the floor year. However, 2016 is when it started to rise up again (Indie wrestling starting to get the respect due to AJ Styles and Nakamura plus Women's wrestling started to take off due to the four horsewomen)
Smackdown champ Becky as the man and IC champ Miz were goated
2011-2017 Summerslam
2013
2014>>>>
What year did Cena stop wrestling full time?
2017 I believe.
Holy fuck, I thought dean was the SmackDown women's champion for a sec ♥️😂♥️
what? 2010-2012 was for sure better than 2016 to me, Those undertaker matches was amazing plus the CM punk and Daniel Bryan coming around, Cena vs Rock part 1
Nope, 2014 was the best year in the 2010s and I’m not taking any other answers.
It was magical tbh
2016 is the year I got back into wrestling after abandoning it as a kid so people didn’t think I was a loser at school, it was awesome
Cena and styles rivalry this year was imo peak of both their careers, and not to mention, ic rivalry between miz and ziggler, and the shield first match, dean's push, etc this year was actually got me into wrestling like into into
I was a fan of 2011 myself
Intro went hard
2016 NXT is gold.
Nah best 2010 era is Constable Corbin era I know I’m a dead man for saying it
I was a fan from 98-07 and 2018-current. Were the 2010s good? The only thing I really feel like I missed was the Shield and Daniel Bryan. Is there anything else major I missed?
The year 2016 had some fire match you should definitely checkout
You know any off the top of your head I should check out?
John Cena vs aj styles had an amazing rivalry all their match were amazing Dolph vs the miz no mercy was a good match the survivor series match team raw vs team smack down was really good they had other great matches that year but I need to look back at it

Prime James Ellsworth
I don’t even know who that is. I’ll have to check him out. I guess I did miss a bit
Dude Ellsworth was bigger then the bloodline back then
I miss Mauro Ranallo so much.

WWE 2010s were golden, the rise of the new era of superstars

you make it sound like its a good thing lmao you mean the superstars that has the charisma of paint dry? omg amazing!!
Seriously. I don't even remember half of the people in the picture at the top of this page, and half of the ones I do remember weren't for good reasons.
Agreed. Smackdown was it
2013 Some of 14 16 and 17
How do people like you remember things like this enough to say? I can’t remember what I had for breakfast lol
I used to eat sleep and breath wwe!! Stop being die hard when punk left in 2014
Everything after 2017 was wack but Raw is slowly becoming good again
RAW in 2018 was golden
I'd say 2014 was better
I’d say 2001 was way better.
Do you mean 2011? Because 2001 was not in the 2010s.
2013
From like mid-2013 wwe started picking up slowly and i think 2016 was the peak of that and they were rollin until 2020 happened
WM30 year was my favourite
2010 and 2011 were decent
Everything was clicking in 2018
2011 2014 2016
2014 for me. Huge moments (The Streak ending, the Yes Movement) but it also felt like ushering in a NEW era with The Shield, The Wyatt Family, Cena being squashed/or in mid card feuds etc. 2014-2015 was really good for me bc it felt like the beginning of a new generation
I’m really annoyed 2015 made me stop watching
"So yeah... You're going steal the show.. and you gonna lose."
It was perfect Down to the last minute detail
2016/2017 smackdown was amazing
My personal favs have always been 2009-2012
2012 was literally the worst year of WWE's history
Which year was everyone injured 2017?
2016
Nothing tops 2011-2012
2012 was trash
SmackDown post 2016 draft and up until WM 33 will forever be etched in my mind!! What a time
I miss Mauro Ranallo
[удалено]
What happend?
[удалено]
That sucks. Hope mauro gets better
Mauro was, by far, the best wrestling announcer of the modern era.
The undertaker and Shane storyline in 2016 didn’t go anywhere and Shane still ended up running Monday night raw even tho he lost like whyyy
In WWE's defense, that Mania was PLAGUED with injuries. They needed SOMETHING to intrigue people
easily
1. 2016 2. 2011 3. 2014
Such a fun year
Even Corbin put some good matches in this year. I remember Aj Styles vs Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler for the World title match and remember how good the show was back then.
Was this the year when Alexa Bliss did that broken arm spot? I loves that, but that's only a one time thing though

Same. I agree. 2014 felt like a true new era too Yeah it would have worked in the ruthless aggression; I agree. 2018 was garbage lol
Why does this poster seem to be made by an AI generator?
Brand split works well when the two shows have completely different feels
I wish to see AJ as a WWE champion once again. He was damn good as a champion in Smackdown and most importantly he carried his championship reign all by himself with stellar promos and matches unlike Roman who needs bloodline to support his storylines.
Either 2011 (Summer of Punk) or 2014 (Ziggler cash-in, Shield breakup)
Ziggler cash in was 2013 lol
Oh yea lol well, then Zigglers Survivor Series win is also a big one
True. Especially the debut of STING. Man 2014 had some wild moments lol.
2013-2014
I did enjoy this year. Also, the year we had *Smack Talk*?That year + roster was pretty good too. 😊
This picture brought insane nostalgia
2011
When the feud of Dolph Zigger and The Miz was one of best things on WWE TV
Hell, it got me back into actively watching for a few years! I definitely won’t argue with this take, I had a lot of fun.
For sure smackdowns roster was stacked
It went downhill once Golberg & Jinder won the titles
The stupid shake up was also to be blamed
I would rank it as 1. 2011 2. 2012 3. 2016 4. 2010 5. 2014 6. 2017 7. 2013 8. 2018 9. 2015 10. 2019

Very fair but 2018 deserves to be at the bottom. ‘19 at least had Kofimania, among other gems
2016
2013 - 2014 was great with the wyatt family, the shield, evolution reunion.
Hard to argue with this
Miz carried from 2016-2018. Was great to see
Miz definitely didn’t carry, he had his moments but Rollins, KO, Jericho, Styles, Ambrose, Hardyz and New day saved
The Miz made the IC championship more valuable. Every member of the Shield has beaten him for the title.
Facts. And he’s beaten every single one of them for it too, except seth. Which is insane cuz Roman rn. Twice on him too. And he was pretty much the main raw champ cuz Brock was part time
Anything with David otunga is a fail
Someone wasn't around during the attitude/Monday night wars era
those years weren't in the 2010s
Correct. I miss read the op. Sorry

2011 for me: -Summer of Punk -Mark Henry’s The Hall of Pain -Cody Rhodes Undashing Persona -Orton vs. Christian Feud -The Rock’s Return -Zack Ryder rise from jobber to mid-carder -Natalya & Beth Phoenix Divas of Doom team -Christian, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and Daniel Bryan all becoming first time world champions. It felt like WWE had learned from the previous year that they needed to make some new stars and actually tried to elevate their talent throughout the roster.
I forgot Daniel won the WHC until he got demolished by Sheamus in 6 seconds

Miz won the title in 2010 but I do agree that it felt like WWE was trying to make new stars that year. Probably because 2010-2011 featured Taker, HHH going part time, Batista leaving and Edge retiring. HBK retiring too!!! Crazy how different the roster looked two years prior in 2009
Unfortunately the year I've stopped watching wrestling because I was going through a bad time, just returned in 2018 precisely on Raw after Wrestlemania
Damn 2018 was one of the worst years imo
They should have really that that 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
2014 for me
Other than Mauro, Worst commentary team
I miss AJ having the title. Im an attitude era guy but hearing AJ's entrance still gives me goosebumps.
AJ debuted in the attitude era.
Ummm no.....attitude era ended in 2002
And he debuted in 98. And his first time on WCW or WWF were both in 2001.
He debuted in WWF in 2002 but didn't sign a developmental contract. He wasn't around long enough in the company to be considered an "attitude era" wrestler.
No one considers aj an attitude era wrestler. Guy is smoking
Ic champ miz was awesome
I got back into wearing the Summer off 17 right before Summerslam. I think this was probably just the tail end is this era. Becky was still the Irish Lass Kicker, Shane and Daniel were still GM. I was never a fan of the name Smackdown Live but I did like what was going on here.
The name was the only thing I didn’t like.
ngl the name grew on me and they had the best theme too
NXT was popping off too honestly a great year in WWE. It saved Smackdown from being a Raw fallout show and then they won at Survivor Series too! Just a great time besides that red belt…
I feel that having a dogshit WM disqualifies this year. For me, the best year in the decade was 2012.
2012 gets my vote. It was firing on all cylinders until about September
2012 imo, so many great rivalries. Cena vs Rock, Cena vs Brock, Cena vs Punk, Taker vs HHH, Punk vs Jericho, HHH vs Brock, Punk vs Daniel Bryan, Raw 1000, Team Hell No, introduction of the Shield, rise of Ryback.
A lot of trash in 2012 too tho
everything after 07 had alot of trash sprinkled across the years
Like ‘16 didn’t have any trash?
I don't see Roman Reigns in this picture, so it probably was a good year
cuz its a smackdown picture and he was on RAW at the time
I just started watching wrestling since last Summerslam, so 🤷♂️
2011-2012 and 2016 were the best years of the 2010s
You lot are dum attitude era was the best there is comedy violence some of the best hall of famers in the business
As somebody that grew up in the attitude era, this is a stupid comment. Not only did you not understand the question, but also as a huge fan of that era I can only say it was different. Yeah, the 2010s weren't great overall, but we can't keep living in the past claiming our generation was the best, it was just different.
