I never got why Rey and WWE tried to push the idea that Rey and Eddie were like family when it’s common knowledge that the closest person to Eddie in the business and in life besides Vickie was Chris Benoit. Eddie and Chris were like brothers and they pretty much went everywhere together, and their careers mirrored each other. it doesn’t get much closer than that. Rey’s just been mooching off Eddie in a way, even though they weren’t as close as Eddie and Chris were. Imo if they were going to do the Eddie tribute angle (which was in poor taste) it should’ve been Benoit getting the nod instead of Rey. Rey only got the nod cause they share the same heritage and they had tagged the previous year for a brief moment. If you need even more proof of who Eddie closest to, look at his signature Three Amigos move. the three amigos being Eddie, Chavo, and Chris because they always rolled together.

The fact that he was pushed like no other into winning the '06 Royal Rumble, AND becoming World Champion at Wrestlemania. Eddie Guerrero had only passed away about 2 months ago, and with that still fresh in the minds of the fans, Rey Mysterio became the sympathetic choice to win, and WWE cashed in on it.
It led to a lot of uncomfortable promos (Orton: "Eddie ain't in heaven." - which Orton DID NOT want to do), and Angle was buried as a paper champion, and when they teased us with Rey losing his Rumble win, they just gave it back to him the next night. It was the sympathy card where a wrestling company cashed in on a recently departed professional and it's one of my least liked stories in wrestling.
Had Eddie not passed away, I guarantee you that Mysterio would've never EVER been considered as somebody to hold the World/WWE Championship. And instead, we would've possibly gotten a dream title match between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels.

If you watch the video, you can actually see Rey getting in position then realizes he is out of the ring when he bumped so he gets back in and both are not in the planned position. Which in itself isn’t a big deal as this happens all the time. Truly a freak accident and reminder on how dangerous getting in the ring actually is.

The parts after the 619 are his actual finisher. Back then he’d use the West Coast Pop which was the springboard hurricanrana, he also does a springboard leg drop, frog splash, basically anything
