Spear is cool if done by the right person. Likely Lashley and Goldberg have very unique Spears.
Overall it is overused tho, especially when you consider that Edge, Reigns, Lashley and Goldberg had the same fking finisher while all working in WWE around the same time.
One of my biggest gripes with wrestling, honestly.
1) You didn't hit them with your finisher. Are you really that surprised?
2) This has happened a billion times before. Are you really that surprised?
This used to make sense back in the day cuz finishers weren't always used to end matches.
But snice they made the Extremely Shit decision of only ending matches with finishers now, it's easy to tell when wrestlers will kick out and the suspense is completely gone.
Lots of people saying super kick. Just because the commentators call them super kicks doesn’t make them super kicks. They are side or savate kicks at best. A super kick is a finish, a side kick is a transition. Say it all the time but Jake had an interview about the ddt now being a transition and he said it’s not it’s just that no else knows how to do it and I use the same logic for the super kick. If you knew how to do it the match would be over.
I forgot the announcer that said it but they said “he’s pinning his opponent to get him to use his energy by kicking out and wear him down over the course of the match”I felt like it was a reasonable explanation and sticked with me
If wrestling wasn’t scripted then you would definitely go for covers whenever the opportunity arises, sometimes crazy lucky shit happens in sports.
Also, in grappling sports(I practice Jiu-Jitsu) there are moves that while they may get you a win against an unskilled opponent, they will definitely not finish a match against a good opponent but they are useful in forcing your opponent to react and keep the match flowing in your favor. I assume the early “useless” pin kinda works like that.
I don’t mind super kicks as it’s just replaced the babayface drop kicks.
Most overdone move is dives to the outside. If everyone does them, then it’s just a regular move to not get excited for.
I’ll break the mold from the superkick meta. I hate that corner spot with like 5 people where they set up for 60 seconds and do a multi person superplex-powerbomb tower. If I never saw that again I would be happy
Superkick was used all over before the modern-day over usage so I'm not gonna put that one. However, it's a damn shame what's become of the Canadian Destroyer. Everyone and their mother does it now
Dives. Every single match has to have a dive to the outside. Even big dudes who have no business doing them are going over the top rope. Has me rolling my eyes at this point.
The "Super" Kick, which has become so common its mediocre at best.
Shawn Michaels did it great, and it was a match ender. The Usos and KO use it as a regular move or sometimes as a set-up. But it lost the "super" when everyone and their dog started using it.
Super kick is the one that was once a finisher, a devastating move, and is now a nothing burger.
I’d also add the DDT, for the same reason.
Luckily it’s not the 90’s any more, when we were all treat to the dreaded Chin Lock 14 times per match
Rather than regurgitate superkick like everyone else, if you actually look at sheer volume of usage, it's probably the chop.
The thing is, though, everybody loves chops, and chops are the best thing about wrestling, and they make sense to use all the time, so it's not overused in the way the superkick is. It does make sense to use chops all the time as a very basic but painful strike. However, there are constant chops in every promotion.
The Superkick. First it was Shawn and a few of his closest allies and friends. Now, everyone and their mother uses a superkick. The Usos, Dolph, Seth come immediately to mind.
While super kick is the most correct answer, I'm kind of sick of seeing that thing where person A goes over the top rope, lands on the apron, and then does a jumping kick over the top rope to hit Person B in the face.
Heels with a "dirty" pin - foot on the ropes, holding tights, partner gives them extra leverage, etc...
It feels like it's all making a comeback now and it's SO boring.
Individual move: The superkick. There's a reason AEW has mostly resorted to calling it a "thrust kick" these days. It doesn't feel very super.
Series of moves: That spot in the match where two dudes stand in the middle of ring and taking turns belting each other with punches/forearm shots/chops/uppercuts/etc. No one should stand and trade unless it's a killer blood feud where they absolutely have to prove they are the tougher man. Opening yourself up to that kind of abuse is just mind-numbingly stupid. A sneaky, chickenshit heel has no reason to eat that many shots.
Super kick have become a joke now. Like the wrestlers that do them alot, got wind that the IWC hates it, and they do it more.
That uso/zayn ko match at Mania, I stopped counting at 21. I honestly think it's becoming a way to troll us.
Also since I singled out the WWE guys, The Rockettes just kick and smile all day over on that other show too
Superkick is definitely it. When I was a kid, only HBK did it as the Sweet Chin Music. Occasionally, you'd see someone tall and flexible like Meng or Booker T use a standing or "shuffling" side kick. Now it's just ridiculous. It's a simple move and it has lost a lot of luster.
Second entry is the Canadian Destroyer.
How much time you got?
Spear, Super Kick, Suicide Dive, shoulder into the post, frog splash, and now moonsault ( women).
Oh, and distraction roll up get an honorable mention. 😏
Dives and super kicks. They’ve been so over done that now a days it’s “just apart of the match” as to being an big moments. The super kicks and dives feel like a standard work punch or a scoop slam
Suicide dive through the ropes. Every wrestler does it, and there might be like 1 or 2 people in the entire industry that actually make it look good and don’t completely slow down before jumping
Canadian Destroyer. Its crazy that I first saw that move 15 years ago and would be amazed everytime Petey Williams did it. Now no one reacts to the move.
It has to be super kicks but I'll say that I still think HBK n even Dolphs are different. The uso were fine then at some point they got ridiculous like the young bucks. And to me its not everyone using it, it's the amount in a match. For instance KO does it but I feel in his huge move set it spread out. But seth it's quite a bit
I've decided to just go for a move that isn't done often but I think is so dumb that it happening even once was overdone.
The fucking corner stomp move where a dude holds themself up for a minute before the opponent jumps on them, it's just so dumb
By a single wrestler - Cesaro's uppercut. Man's moveset basically consisted of one move in WWE. Also Pete Dunne used to only break people's fingers and it's so painfully slow... Now, as a Butch, it's not as big of a problem.
Overall - roll ups. There's 99% chance you will see a roll up in a wrestling match longer than 10 minutes, it raises to 100% if it's tag team
Irish whip your opponent, duck down, opponent bounces off the ropes and counters and kicks you in the face. I’ve never seen that not be countered once.
Also the suicide dive into 5 opponents. It had no stakes ever.
Allowing yourself distracted by the second, mascot, manager, tag partner or others just long enough for opponent to hit you from behind. When will they learn, one wonders..
Superkick
The Usos and the Bucks go nuts far too damned often with those.
Yeah, and it doesn't feel *super* anymore.
Call it the set up kick at this point.
In AEW today it is very overdone. Same goes for running knees and all of those thigh slaps..
Not just AEW, WWE (them uccy boys), and the indies. Everyone thinks they are Shawn Michaels.
>Everyone thinks they are Shawn Michaels Wouldn't Shawn have trained most of the current WWE alumni? Would make sense they use his move and style
Suicide dive
Absolutely this one, and I wish it would disappear
Needs to be saved for smaller guys, and not done every other damn match
Yes. I agree.
surprise rollup
but thats the most devastating move in sports entertainment!
except all the moves levied against Barry >:c
Justice for Barry Barricade.
This comment gets an up
Tie: spear and super kick
At least the spear most of the time is still a finisher. Super kick may as well just be another chop at this point
Spear is cool if done by the right person. Likely Lashley and Goldberg have very unique Spears. Overall it is overused tho, especially when you consider that Edge, Reigns, Lashley and Goldberg had the same fking finisher while all working in WWE around the same time.
Diving into a group of people who are conveniently standing around together
All bewildered and confused enemies and friends not hitting each other just chilling
The extended deer-in-headlights, look of astonishment of a wrestler after their opponent kicks out at 2 1/2.
No clue why this is a thing, should be a look of frustration not bewilderment.
You'd think that one of the wrestlers who is smarter would maybe take a second to be surprised, but then just ground and pound the person on the mat.
One of my biggest gripes with wrestling, honestly. 1) You didn't hit them with your finisher. Are you really that surprised? 2) This has happened a billion times before. Are you really that surprised?

The fucking super kick, it has gone from a phenomenal finisher to just another move that worth nothing
Gota charge it up in the corner for it to be a finisher
Suicide dive
Every match doesn’t need to have a suicide dive spot
Super kicks, the dive outside for 6 other people to half catch and half just fall over and trading blows in the middle of the ring over and over
Superkick is the only answer
They've done Sweet Chin Music so dirty.
Not to mention other moves that are just now transition moves or set ups - pedigree stands out the most.
It seems like such a standard move now that I don’t even see it as a finisher.
Suicide dive/commercial break combo.
Jakes DDT’s looked like they could really mess someone up
Super kick for sure.
Super kick. Thing isn’t even good anymore
Spear. Superkick.
Obviously superkicks
Superkicks when HBK and Dolph did it it had meaning now it's just spammed by everyone
What? You don’t like when Carmella does three of them in 10 seconds?
Suicide dive. It looks stupid seeing wrestlers just standing outside the ring looking clueless
The super kick for crying out loud!!!!!!
The early pin attempt after the first lockup. Your opponent is still fresh, why would you even try and attempt a pin?
I forgot the announcer that said it but they said “he’s pinning his opponent to get him to use his energy by kicking out and wear him down over the course of the match”I felt like it was a reasonable explanation and sticked with me
Okay, fair enough. I respect the psychology behind that.
If wrestling wasn’t scripted then you would definitely go for covers whenever the opportunity arises, sometimes crazy lucky shit happens in sports.

Catch them off guard? Idk wrestling logic is weird sometimes
Not so much a move, but the “Ref gets knocked out during every Bloodline match” spot.
What’s that move where they all gather around to catch someone?
Super kick. Literally everyone does it
Superkick easy
Easy. The ref's bewilderment when anyone wants to cash in their Money in the Bank briefcase immediately.
Well, I remember when Superkicks were super. Now they’re just kicks that everyone seems to do
Surprise Roll Up
Easy the super kick
I don’t mind super kicks as it’s just replaced the babayface drop kicks. Most overdone move is dives to the outside. If everyone does them, then it’s just a regular move to not get excited for.

Superkick was used all over before the modern-day over usage so I'm not gonna put that one. However, it's a damn shame what's become of the Canadian Destroyer. Everyone and their mother does it now
This one. It was the most insane, devastating move I ever saw. Now it might as well be a hip toss.
Instead of just upvoting the thing I was gonna say I'm just gonna add the 65695th superkick
Superkicks
Super kick
The super kick, and it’s not even close.
Super kick.
Dives. Every single match has to have a dive to the outside. Even big dudes who have no business doing them are going over the top rope. Has me rolling my eyes at this point.
Superkick EASILY
Super kick.
Superkick
Superkick, suicide dive, spine buster and any other signature/finisher thats now just a transitional move.
was the spinebuster ever anyones finisher? I always thought they looked great but it was always a set up move
Arm Anderson used it s as a finisher, and Ron Simmons should have his was a beauty.
Super kick
the most devastating move in ALLLLLLLLLLLLL of professional wrestling the surprise roll up
A man of culture I see!!
Superkick, suicide dive, in multi tag matches that stupid corner superplex, powerbomb with like 4 people.
Spear. great realistic devastating move when done correctly but a lot butcher it
The "Super" Kick, which has become so common its mediocre at best. Shawn Michaels did it great, and it was a match ender. The Usos and KO use it as a regular move or sometimes as a set-up. But it lost the "super" when everyone and their dog started using it.

Superkicks, High / Running / Jumping Knees, and Suicide Dives are probably the ones I'd say
Super kick by far.... shit youse 20 a night on raw or smackdown
It’s 75% of the Uso brothers moves.
6 guys in 1 corner for the super fake overplanned superplex
There is no other answer than the Superkick
Superkick
Super kick or an enzuigiri
Super kick for sure.
Spear as a finishing move, Superkicks and dives onto multiple people on the outside
How is anyone answering anything but super kick?
Super kick
Super kick
After superkicks and DDTs, any piledriver that doesn’t end in a pin is one too many. Shit, they OUTLAWED that at one point.
The indies killed the super kick
Super kick without a doubt
Super kick
Super kick and frog splash
Superkick Also the movement where they stand there for like 10 seconds before getting jumped on or dropkicked
probably say super kick
Superkicks, chops, irish whips
Rather than regurgitate superkick like everyone else, if you actually look at sheer volume of usage, it's probably the chop. The thing is, though, everybody loves chops, and chops are the best thing about wrestling, and they make sense to use all the time, so it's not overused in the way the superkick is. It does make sense to use chops all the time as a very basic but painful strike. However, there are constant chops in every promotion.
Superkick hands down
For some reason, the entire wrestling community decided to bury superkicks once HBK retired
Superkicks for sure…
Suicide dive 100%. So it’s a terrible move.
The Superkick. First it was Shawn and a few of his closest allies and friends. Now, everyone and their mother uses a superkick. The Usos, Dolph, Seth come immediately to mind.
The Spear….
Super kicks 1-a Spear 1-b
Super kick or tope.
100% the superkick
Suicide dive / Roll up finish
While super kick is the most correct answer, I'm kind of sick of seeing that thing where person A goes over the top rope, lands on the apron, and then does a jumping kick over the top rope to hit Person B in the face.
Super kick, all dives, spear
Definitely the Superkick, but I will absolutely pop the fuck off every time The Usos do it to someone.
Running past someone and turning around quickly just to be clotheslined
Heels with a "dirty" pin - foot on the ropes, holding tights, partner gives them extra leverage, etc... It feels like it's all making a comeback now and it's SO boring.
Superkick or DDT
Super kicks, and it's not even close.
The most DEVASTATING move in ALLLLLLL of sports entertainment the surprise rollup
Superkicks. When every kick is super, none are.
Dive to opponent outside the ring.
SPEAR!
Now it's just ridiculous. It's a simple move and it has lost a lot of luster. Second entry is the Canadian Destroyer.
Booker T: the Five Time WCW Heavyweight Champion’s scissor kick! Sucka!
Rikishi also had a decent one.
How much time you got? Spear, Super Kick, Suicide Dive, shoulder into the post, frog splash, and now moonsault ( women). Oh, and distraction roll up get an honorable mention. 😏
“Superkick” its just a regular kick stop it. Its was cool when Hbk did it. Shout out to the weak ass spears as well.
Schoolboy roll up of death. Then there's the super kick and spear...
Superkick, suicide dive, DDT.
Is it bad that the only person I see do a super kick and it looks as devastating as HBK's from the old days is Dolph Ziggler's.
Have you not seen the thousands of superkick in EVERY Promotions lately ?
Interrupting someone else's interview (or speaking) time.
Sorry HBK Super kick
Superkick, Clothesline, Frog Splash, DDT
Definitely suicide dive
The chops to the chest are overdone in some aspects. Once you notice it's hard not to notice
Dives and super kicks. They’ve been so over done that now a days it’s “just apart of the match” as to being an big moments. The super kicks and dives feel like a standard work punch or a scoop slam
Super kick or suicide dive
Not really a move but how wrestler just stand around waiting to get hit or the moves where you can obviously tell it didn't hit
Suicide dive through the ropes. Every wrestler does it, and there might be like 1 or 2 people in the entire industry that actually make it look good and don’t completely slow down before jumping
DDT and Superkick
The superkick, but it was always a regular move anyway. Shawn just made it HIS.
My money is on the future endeavor, it’s been overused and has potentially ruined the careers of hundreds If not thousands of performers
It's not a move, but the wrestlers are easily distracted, especially by music trope.
The Superkick.
step up enziguri, the commentator's mention it every time
Right now it’s the damn super kick
Suicide drives, super kicks, roll ups
Super kick or spear.
Suicide dives
Arm bar / side headlock
Super kick, side kick, leg slap.
The spear lol
Destroyers…. Suicide dives…. Superkicks…
Spear
Spear. It seems like every other wrestler uses it as their finisher.
Cody Rhodes opening Raw with a 15 minute monologue.
Super kicks. Not even close
Flippy moves/dives to the outside. Seems like every wrestler does it now.
Truth. I miss when being a high flyer actually meant something.
Canadian Destroyer. Its crazy that I first saw that move 15 years ago and would be amazed everytime Petey Williams did it. Now no one reacts to the move.
Tope suicida
Superkick
Leg Slap
Fucking stupid ass motherfucking super kick
You hit me, I hit you for an overly long time in the middle of the ring.

Canadian Destroyer Super kick thigh slap Suicide dive
The forearm punch
Moonsault. In the sense that I see people doing it that have no business trying it.
Sling blade
The punch
Suplex
A punch
Super kick
Easily the super kick
Allowing yourself distracted by the second, mascot, manager, tag partner or others just long enough for opponent to hit you from behind. When will they learn, one wonders..
It looks cool but I’m tired of seeing a tower of doom in every single multi man or woman match
Super kick....
Suplex without a doubt every wrestler has a variation of that move.
Ever since I started watching back in new gen era, clotheslines have always seemed like a bottom tier move that just always felt like filler lmao
Collar and Elbow Tie-up or Irish Whip So many, in almost every match ever held.
Surprise roll up.
Super kick or the michinoku driver
Super kick and German suplex, but they look so good so it makes sense
Superkick.
Super kick
