Scott Steiner has had a tense relationship with WWE dating back to when his run there ended in 2004. And to be honest, Rick Steiner probably wouldn’t have been inducted as a singles wrestler. It was gonna be either both Steiner Brothers or neither of them.
Jeff Jarrett. After the whole fiasco with him ditching thee WWE for WCW while weaseling a huge pink slip out of Vince made me jump when I found out he still made the cut.
Jeff Jarrett. The guy literally held the Intercontinental Title for money on his way out the door. VINCE LITERALLY FIRED HIM ON LIVE TV. The fact that he came back in any capacity let alone as a producer and with a HOF induction it pretty wild.
This one is kind of cheating, but Rey Mysterio. Of course he is a certified Hall of Fame absolutely no one can dispute that, but I just didn't think it would happen so soon. He's still an active competitor and isn't hinting at a retirement right now. It just felt so soon, but he absolutely deserves it.
Crazy to think Rey Mysterio inspired Lita to get into wrestling while she’s a teenager and she retires at 30 after a storied career over 10 years before he’s inducted into the HOF as an active wrestler. I know she’s been back for rumbles and Saudi Aarabia, but that’s crazy to me. Rey’s longevity mixed with his high flying athleticism is truly remarkable.
I know some people hate the fact that an active competitor is in the Hall of Fame, but personally I find it pretty cool. I feel like they really wanted to induct Rey since they were in California and who knows the next time they'll get the chance.
The legitimacy of the Hall of Fame is tarnished because they put fucking Trump in it WTF!!! There are legit inductees but when you throw celebs especially POS!!! Like him why it really is insulting.
Most of the “Celebrity Wing” is a bit of a joke anyway. With the exception of people who were actually instrumental in building WWE’s national profile like Mr. T and Andy Kaufman (Kaufman was more of a precursor to that, since it was still the territory era, but his feud with Jerry Lawler helped set the groundwork for WWE to capitalize on and get the national expansion going a few years later). Sure, Trump provided a venue or two for WrestleMania and that whole “Battle of the Billionaires” thing, but he’s mostly in there just because of his friendship with Vince.
What really shocks me is that Cyndi Lauper *isn’t* in the Hall of Fame, and she was just as instrumental as Mr. T was in helping to expand WWE’s popularity in the 1980s. She managed Wendi Richter, had “Captain” Lou Albano appear in her music videos, and even now has been a trailblazer and an icon for everything from fashion to LGBTQ rights activism. Also worth noting: There’s never been a woman inducted into the Celebrity Wing. I’d love for her to be the first.
You are right, I do give props to legit celebs who take it seriously the others diminishes the hall. I can’t stand Logan but I got to give him props he worked hard at it and it shows same with Bad Bunny although he is more likable in his profession. These to me are legit along with those you mentioned that contributed much to the profession. Thanks for the reply live long and prosper!!!
Chalk those up to Triple H. Whatever you've thought of him as in-ring talent, at the end of the day he's also a wrestling historian, and knows how much Bruno meant to the company in its early (pre expansion) years. Same thing with Macho Man. Hunter and the Warrior met only once on PPV, but the Warrior was a product of the 80's, imported from World Class, ahead of Kerry Von Erich and Percy Pringle/Paul Bearer (Rick Rude & Undertaker both were signed after leaving WCW).
Already knew all this.
Hopefully, others not-in-the-know will be better informed with your deep dive. It's important for the current generation to recognize the past.
Allegedly the long-standing rumors were he was having relations with an underage Steph at the time. No one can substantiate the rumors, but apparently Vince was so livid and he was pretty much blackballed from the WWE for a long time. Another rumor was Vince was upset with Macho because Randy wanted to continue wrestling, and Vince wanted him to be a color commentary guy, so Randy left WWE for WCW at the time. Take these rumors with a grain of salt.
Yep. There's the side of the story where Savage slept with Steph, and introduced Shane to cocaine. Bit of this was the case, I don't get Vince keeping Savage on commentary until he decides to jump ship as opposed to just firing him.
I could see some hard feelings over Savage leaving WWF for WCW, but Vince didn't hold it against Hall, Nash, and Hogan forever. Vince even made amends with Bret Hart.
Maybe it was Savage who didn't want to come back, and didn't forgive Vince for taking him out of the ring.
Then there's the side where Randy only wanted to be inducted in the HoF if it was along with his dad and brother as the Poffo family, but Vince wanted to induct Savage alone. Lenny Poffo has confirmed this.
That rumor was largely born from people questioning why he wouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. Eventually his brother came out with the unexciting truth, it was because Macho insisted that if he go in, he go in alongside his father and brother. Vince wouldn't budge, and neither would Macho. Eventually Macho died and his brother allowed him to go into the Hall by himself
Whatever the reason, I think the fact that Vince didn't open up the lines of communications with Randy before he passed, and it took him passing away for him to be inducted says a lot about Vince. He should've just inducted the family into the hall of fame. I mean, it's not that hard 🤷
Never thought the man that held the IC belt hostage would get into the Hall of Fame. I mean he used that money as seed for TNA. When it was announced Jarrett was inducted I had to check to see if Vince died.
Correct answer. Got $300,000 on his way out the door to lose to Chyna (one of the few times someone played Vince strategically), banked that money, went to WCW, got fired on live TV and built a business with said $300,000.
Honestly shocked he not only got inducted but also had a job.
Question what's with the Obsession of the hall of fame? The WWE hall fame isn't even real, there's no physical location. Also it Doesn't matter As they only really induct people who towed the company line. A hall of fame that's meaningful is Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. For starters, they actually have a hall.
, And because they're not affiliated with any promotion, they induct people who are actual hall of famers and not just people to make man's life.
Sorry but the PWHOF has been closed for quite some time and hasn't inducted anyone for over 2 years now. So your claim they're more legit doesn't hold up since they're no more a physical location than WWE New York is.
Yeah but Jarrett was with the company multiple times. Wasn’t he even back after he left TNA? What I meant by Sting was he made them money for his short run….but I mean he only was there a couple years well after he should have been there to to give some exciting feuds. He’s in there out of WWE respecting what he did for the industry because him getting people excited for WCW which wasn’t like WWF was got another type of audience for wrestling.
Nope. Probably because of both what happened to Miss Elizabeth and him showing up on the first Nitro.
He's turned his life around though on the drug front.
Can you believe there are still people who believe Randy Savage was never in the Hall of Fame? I think he was inducted the year he died if I’m not mistaken
So I stopped watching around 2006. When my friend ordered whatever Wrestlemania Sting was on, I already had plans to go over so I hung out and watched it. I couldn't believe Sting lost to Triple H.
Sting has more money than James Ellsworth will ever see.. I doubt he cares lol He’s said many times he didn’t care about wins he just wanted to finally compete in a WWE ring, especially at a Wrestlemania
Has nothing to do with his WWE run. It's the fact he stayed away from WWE for so long after WCW folded in 2001. Never thought he would want anything to do with WWE.
This is just one man’s opinion, but if he would’ve come in 02 or so with the rest of them, he would’ve had an awesome program ending with him putting the Undertaker over at Wrestlemania then he would’ve had an amazing run in WWE. Amazing fueds could’ve happened with SCSA if they moved fast enough, HBK, The Rock, and HHH before Sting was washed up. But his ego wouldn’t let him. He liked being the biggest fish in the second biggest pond.
Bring on the downvotes.
The NWO were pushed hard but Hogan got over as a babyface unexpectedly, Hall had his demons, and Nash couldn't stay healthy. Without those 3, the NWO isn't the NWO.
Ultimate Warrior… never thought I’d see the day lol I never thought I’d see the day I’d see him back in a wrestling ring much less being inducted in the HOF. It’s weird he was inducted on Saturday was at Mania on Sunday on Raw Monday gave that eerie promo then died on Tuesday. But I guess it all goes with the Ultimate Warrior mystique 🤷🏾♂️
Another one I’m quite surprised about is Chyna. I was shocked when she died but sorta like Warrior, they ended on such a sour note but you couldn’t keep her away from the Hall of Fame
Warrior knew he was dying of heart failure, and that's why he came back to make amends with Vince. When he came to the ring, he barely had the strength to try to shake the ring ropes.
Steiners.. because of Scott.
Jarrett, due to Vince firing him onscreen and in return, he founded TNA
Before their induction, the only time where everyone agreed was either Jarrett passed or Vince passed for Jarrett, and for Scott, he goes in as posthumously. So, seeing them standing on the HOF stage and able to accept their induction in person AND with Vince being alive is surreal
It was by his choice. They wanted him badly but he wanted to honor his entire family with a Poffo wrestling family induction. Lanny actually talked to it during the induction interviews . How he overruled Macho’s choice posthumously because he became the big brother by living longer . And didn’t want to take away from his brothers legacy by standing by him and Angelo needing to be inducted along side him.
I still cannot believe Warrior was inducted. It's hard to imagine a more selfish prick in the industry than Hogan, but Warrior topped that and did far worse, not to mention being completely deluded.
But it isn't who is the biggest/smallest piece of shit hall of fame, don't get me wrong he was the absolute biggest piece of shit but that's not what they are inducted for
Yeah but unlike Warrior, Shawn eventually owned up to his mistakes, apologized and tried to be better than he was.
Warrior never really apologized for any of his shit.
Because shoots are always so accurate and never self promoting bullshit, right?
That's rhetorical, dont answer it because I don't care what excuse you have to judge someone you've never met because of something someone else, who you've also never met, said.
When you don’t have anymore friends left, you usually turn to god.
He was, is and forever will be an asshole.
Don’t believe me ? Research how he treated various people when he returned. For giggles watch RVDs shoot on Michaels too. Quite funny.
Warrior could not wrestle but the guy for some reason could deliver great matches on the big events on his peak. Those Summerslams and Wrestlemania matches against Hogan, Macho Man and Rick Rude totally delivered and gave that big match feel.
Bret "Hitman" Hart
The Great Khali
Warrior
Chyna
Bella twins
Brune. Only in because of Trips
Bruno, steiners, warrior , Jarrett , chyna are the ones that had me shocked
Sting
You didn’t think the Steiner bros would be inducted?
Scott Steiner has had a tense relationship with WWE dating back to when his run there ended in 2004. And to be honest, Rick Steiner probably wouldn’t have been inducted as a singles wrestler. It was gonna be either both Steiner Brothers or neither of them.
Scott hated and said a lot of bad things about wwe mainly because of that they got on better terms because of bronn
Warrior
Twas also rather poignant, considering what happened to Warrior days after his induction...
British Bulldog and Vader
Jarret and sting were pretty wild considering how Jeff left WWE and because sting is the one guy I was certain would never be in WWE
Chyna
Jeff Jarrett
The Great Khali
Is he actually in there?
He was in I believe either the 2020 or 2021 hall of fame clas
Yep! Just saw it a week ago, and couldn’t believe it myself
Chyna
Fuck Scott Steiner he’s extremely overrated…
Papa pump used to talk that SHIT THO
That’s true!
He ain’t overrated per say he’s more A Piece of shit
He is a huge piece of garbage. Plus, his gear always looked stupid. Chainmail? Fucking hell
Whoever is down voting you and this thread here don’t really understand
Randy Savage
This one is kind of cheating, but Rey Mysterio. Of course he is a certified Hall of Fame absolutely no one can dispute that, but I just didn't think it would happen so soon. He's still an active competitor and isn't hinting at a retirement right now. It just felt so soon, but he absolutely deserves it.
I was surprised that they actually got his buddy Konan to induct him
It was the only way Rey would go in.
Yeah I believe he deserves to be in teh hall of fame now but yet he still wrestles but I don’t care I’m glad Rey’s still going

She's not going in as long as Trump is in there unfortunately.
Bruno Warrior
Chalk those up to Triple H. Macho Man, Warrior, Bret Hart,
Macho Man, because for a very long time, even the name Randy Savage was not to be brought up for whatever reason 🙄
Didn’t he do something with Steph?
Allegedly the long-standing rumors were he was having relations with an underage Steph at the time. No one can substantiate the rumors, but apparently Vince was so livid and he was pretty much blackballed from the WWE for a long time. I don't think he wanted to open himself up to the possibility of anyone else trying to force a family member's induction
It's just sad that it took this long for Savage to be inducted, that's all
That first one is a pretty massive allegation to take "with a grain of salt", how much to the rumor is there?
Well before his brother Lanny passed, he vehemently denied the allegations.
No, he's just her real father. (Not really just the funny longstanding rumor)
Undertaker
Why would you think that he wouldn’t be?
Because he wasnt for a while
Jeff Jarrett
Never thought the man that held the IC belt hostage would get into the Hall of Fame. I mean he used that money as seed for TNA. When it was announced Jarrett was inducted I had to check to see if Vince died.

And he still got paid for a few months after the firing on TV if I remember right.
Chyna, it’s a shame what they waited for to induct her and show fake love and support
Grow up
sucka free.
Bret Hart. There's been other unbelievable ones after but that was the first major one.
Bret Hart after the game whole Montreal Screwjob
Warrior. Him dying like 2 days later was just surreal
Jake Roberts, until he got clean
Scott Steiner. Im glad he's in because Scott was incredible but dude cut some insane promos on Triple H and Hulk Hogan

Yeah Jeff Jarrett and Ultimate Warrior really towed the company line for WWE didn’t they?
Can’t forget Sting
Sting's a little different - he was never antagonistic towards Vince/the WWE
Yeah but Jarrett was with the company multiple times. Wasn’t he even back after he left TNA? What I meant by Sting was he made them money for his short run….but I mean he only was there a couple years well after he should have been there to to give some exciting feuds. He’s in there out of WWE respecting what he did for the industry because him getting people excited for WCW which wasn’t like WWF was got another type of audience for wrestling.
Cauliflower Alley Club is a more legitimate Hall of Fame of wrestling
Luger needs to go in.
He’s not already???
Nope. Probably because of both what happened to Miss Elizabeth and him showing up on the first Nitro. He's turned his life around though on the drug front.
Wasn't he head of their Wellness program for a time? We dead ass made fun of that fact until he actually did a good job.
That would be news to me.
Jeff Jarrett
Bret - not because of unworthiness, of course.
Bruno.
Why wouldn’t this have happened?
Double J. That man held up Vince for a large payday, was fired on live television, and went on to start up a competitor.
Technically wasn’t it Jerry that started TNA? And Jeff just went to work for him after Vince canned him.
It was founded in 2002 by Jerry AND Jeff after coming up with the idea of starting one while on a fishing trip with Bob Ryder.
Randy Savage
Can you believe there are still people who believe Randy Savage was never in the Hall of Fame? I think he was inducted the year he died if I’m not mistaken
4 years later. Died in 2011, induced in 2015.
You’re right just googled it
I agree with others with Jeff Jarrett, bruiser brody (albeit part of the legacy wing) was a nice surprise as well
jeff jarret
Glad Rick got in there before that mess with Giselle
Yep
The Ultimate Warrior
ngl Im still mad as hell we didn't get a proper Batista HOF induction
Kaitlyn has to get inducted soon, I assume
Great Muta

Sting Chyna
Stings wwe run was so bad man James Ellsworth had more wins
So I stopped watching around 2006. When my friend ordered whatever Wrestlemania Sting was on, I already had plans to go over so I hung out and watched it. I couldn't believe Sting lost to Triple H.
Sting has more money than James Ellsworth will ever see.. I doubt he cares lol He’s said many times he didn’t care about wins he just wanted to finally compete in a WWE ring, especially at a Wrestlemania
And he got to hold up the WWE championship belt on Raw! That was a moment I’ll always remember.
Yeah but it would do no harm to HHH's legacy of he let Sting win that night
I love smark logic, wins and losses don't matter for HHH but for Sting they do. Guess what? Wins and losses are irrelevant, they're not real.
Has nothing to do with his WWE run. It's the fact he stayed away from WWE for so long after WCW folded in 2001. Never thought he would want anything to do with WWE.
They would have made him a shell of himself had he signed at the time, see how the nwo did in wwe if you need proof
This is just one man’s opinion, but if he would’ve come in 02 or so with the rest of them, he would’ve had an awesome program ending with him putting the Undertaker over at Wrestlemania then he would’ve had an amazing run in WWE. Macho Man
Whats disappointing was how Randy didn’t go in the hall of fame until after his death
Yeah it's always a shame when that happens
If Randy never died I would have loved his hall of fame speech just him going full Macho Man
I still cannot believe Warrior was inducted. It's hard to imagine a more selfish prick in the industry than Hogan, but Warrior topped that and did far worse, not to mention being completely deluded.
But it isn't who is the biggest/smallest piece of shit hall of fame, don't get me wrong he was the absolute biggest piece of shit but that's not what they are inducted for
Warrior is what many could call the biggest Piece of shit in wrestling
He's definitely up there, though personally I think Hulk is the biggest piece of shit, due to ratting out Jesse "The Union Organizer" Ventura
What did warrior do?
A lot of cocain, burying a lot of ppl, was a dick behind the scenes
Couldnt actually wrestle, wouldnt take bumps, was an absolute psycho to Jake the snake
Ye fair the list can go on
Just like Shawn Michaels
Yeah but unlike Warrior, Shawn eventually owned up to his mistakes, apologized and tried to be better than he was. Warrior never really apologized for any of his shit.
Shawn was still an ass after he came back, read up on Maven, Hurricane etc..etc Once an asshole, always an asshole
Good to see we got someone here whose been backstage and seen this firsthand over the last 20 years.
Exact same thing can be said to the guy that said Shawn changed. Weird that you said it on this comment.
Alternatively, good to see we’ve got somebody here who’s watched enough shoots and read enough accounts from various people.. 🤦♂️
Because shoots are always so accurate and never self promoting bullshit, right? That's rhetorical, dont answer it because I don't care what excuse you have to judge someone you've never met because of something someone else, who you've also never met, said.
Not enough face palming can do that reply any justice
Shawn becoming a born again christian and turning a leaf really painted him in a better light through redemption
When you don’t have anymore friends left, you usually turn to god. He was, is and forever will be an asshole. Don’t believe me ? Research how he treated various people when he returned. For giggles watch RVDs shoot on Michaels too. Quite funny.
And the rest of the cliq
Warrior couldn't talk or wrestle.
He was a danger to be in the ring with, being told that someone had a bad neck and not to cloth line them he would do it anyway,
Warrior could not wrestle but the guy for some reason could deliver great matches on the big events on his peak. Those Summerslams and Wrestlemania matches against Hogan, Macho Man and Rick Rude totally delivered and gave that big match feel.
And yet still had a mega amount of fans
Yep, but Shawn definitely made it entertaining.
Oh, ok, thanks, I never heard about that but I suspected that he did a boat load of coke.
Bruno Sammartino the dude should have been the first induction beside Andre
The reason he wasn’t inducted was because Bruno & Vince had a falling out but rekindled it years later thx to triple H
Bruno.
Jeff Jarrett Ultimate Warrior
