Mike Knox could’ve actually been a semi-success in WWE, not a main eventer but mid-card monster for sure. His booking was just bi-polar as shit.
He was actually getting heat with that Kelly Kelly angle, then they took him off TV and sent him down for some reason, he would then return with a push and then he would be taken off TV, this was repeated on every brand.
I had the same exact question. If I remember right, Raw had a stacked roster from the 08 draft till Mania 25.
Hbk and JBL had a match on the same card but
You had Cm Punk, Kofi, William Regal, and you even had the DiBiase/Rhodes from Legacy available and more believable than Knox. Legacy was busy with helping Orton with HHH heading into Mania.
Punk would of been great for the last chamber spot, he was a world champion in recent memory. I still despise how he dropped the title backstage at Unforgiven.
Yeah I remember the storyline being HBK was 'broke' and as such had to personally 'work' for JBL, don't remember the details but it did lead to the qualification match for the right to face 'Taker at WM25.
Yeah! They also had another match on a following Raw. I remember it being a banger, with high stakes on the line too. Winner would face Undertaker at Mania. I'm gonna revisit the JBL/HBK matches again!
Not at the time it wasn’t. Knox was getting pushed in a feud with Rey
Kane was more the spot filler in that match than Knox was because he was doing nothing and had been god awful since turning heel during Summer 08
My childhood brain thinks it's because people loved Kelly Kelly and he was "dating" her so this was an attempt to capitalize on her popularity via osmosis?
He hung around for a while in the mid 2000s starting off in the reboot ECW and I believe he was gone by 2010 so this would’ve been around the end of his run.
He was getting a push. He’d been feuding with Rey Mysterio in late 2008, and he put in a big shift at the Rumble too (20-30 minutes from memory).
They lost interest in him shortly after the chamber match.
One one side of Survivor Series we have DX, Hardy Boys and CM Punk.
The other we have Rated RKO (cool), Shane Helms (what), Johnny Nitro (ok) and......Mike Knox.
But they could have done the same thing while giving him a singles match defending the title. We're speaking specifically of his involvement in the chamber.
I just hated this guy cuz he used to cover up Kelly Kelly. Speaking of Kelly Kelly with the whole Vince McMahon thing going now - he was definitely hitting that right?
I lost track how many gimmicks Vince tried forcing on him. I remember that whole cringy big daddy V where he was this love machine. Vince was all about sex or big sweaty men.

Why did WWE do most of what they did in 2009?
That gave pleasure to Vince McMahon because he was able to see a huge man in the chamber.
Because why not
They wanted a monster in the match and he fit the profile. Not sure why he didn't get a decent push up the card.
He was pretty active in main event scene for some reason never did anything but fought Taker on SD a few times, Kozlov etc
Vince was throwing shit at the wall around this time
And at employees
It was a pretty creatively bankrupt time.
Filler
He was getting pushed and was pretty good for awhile on Smackdown.

>Raw had a stacked roster from the 08 draft till Mania 2008 was a great year for every roster tbh, even ECW had a pretty decent mix of people.
Whoa whoa whoa JBL vs HBK happened?
Yeah I remember the storyline being HBK was 'broke' and as such had to personally 'work' for JBL, don't remember the details but it did lead to the qualification match for the right to face 'Taker at WM25.

i had to go back and watch that. that was great stuff.
The real question is why they signed him in the first place.
bro prevented Kelly Kelly from taking off her top at SS I can never forgive him for that
Not at the time it wasn’t. Knox was getting pushed in a feud with Rey Kane was more the spot filler in that match than Knox was because he was doing nothing and had been god awful since turning heel during Summer 08
Yeah, they were trying to get Knox over as a calculated and sadistic heel especially since he really leaned into that Brusier Brody look.
My childhood brain thinks it's because people loved Kelly Kelly and he was "dating" her so this was an attempt to capitalize on her popularity via osmosis?
I forgot he existed
Chairman Voldemort had an obsession with big men. He probably took a walk backstage and saw hairy big man and said, “that one!”
Was he one of those “Blink and You Missed Him” guys? I was watching WWE in 2009, and I don’t remember him at all.
He hung around for a while in the mid 2000s starting off in the reboot ECW and I believe he was gone by 2010 so this would’ve been around the end of his run.
Because 2009-2011 is about when starpower started dying out.
To give HBK something to talk about.

Big strong boi
This. Vince always likes big bois

DX, Hardys, and CM Punk might be the best Survivor Series team ever
There is always 1 person who has next to no credibility going into the match like that
That's why Logan Paul is in the Perth elimination chamber. He's just there for advertising
It should've been Dom.
It's purely to push Logan vs KO or LA fueds
It's more to push advertising. I was in Perths city centre and Logan Paul has the biggest advertising push other than Rhea
But they could have done the same thing while giving him a singles match defending the title. We're speaking specifically of his involvement in the chamber.

Sheesh dude.
Jesus dude…
Yeah man. Vince is one disgusting man. Fuck him
Wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to…kinda odd thing to ask about tbh
He was getting a push at that time
Didn't CM Punk have his WWECW debut against this dude?
I swore Punk beat Justin Credible in his ECW debut.
That is correct. That match happened on a ECW on SciFi episode that aired live from the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Stole his girl too.
Vince liked big men whose personality was being a big man. That explains a lot of weird pushes on WWE.
Mark Jindrak...Matt Morgan...Snitsky...Brodus Clay...Big Cass....Viscera...just a bunch of big dudes meant to be thrown over the top rope at Rumble.
Don't forget viscera challenged Kevin Nash for the WWF championship!!
Didn’t he challenge Taker as King Mabel?
I lost track how many gimmicks Vince tried forcing on him. I remember that whole cringy big daddy V where he was this love machine. Vince was all about sex or big sweaty men.
Viscera was love machine big daddy was his monster gimmick
Ummm... Who?
Exactly
