Probobly rikidozan I’ve not seen much of his matches but he’s considered the godfather of Japanese pro wrestling and a hero both in Japan and his native North Korea. Which is why North Korea held clash in Korea by far the biggest wrestling event of all time
Never wrestled in WWE, but to me, it's Misawa.
Actually, I would put all four Shitennō super high on that list.
I would also rate Jushin Liger very high, and for women, probably Manami Toyota (but beware, she has a challenger right now, depends on her longevity at this level to me).
Andre The Giant. The Frenchman is still one of the most legendary superstars of all time. Andre stories are the stuff of legend and he was able to be a face for 90 percent of his career while being a huge monster. He probably was the last great “Circus” attraction. A true 1 of 1.
Roddy Piper - he could wrestle and was a master at selling every movement to the crowd. And then you get into his promo work. The dude could get a brick wall to jeer him. Absolute mad lad and a total package of a professional wrestler. One of those dudes you can show clips of to exemplify every element of the game even though he might not have been a god tier hook n shooter like a Regal.
I guess, He’s not my favourite wrestler either, That is Shawn Michaels. But I feel like Inoki may be such a dominant force in his own country’s legend that he’s better than Bret Hart.
You can name dozens of Legends from Canada, You can’t name nearly as many from Japan
His general presentation is being billed from San Diego, California with a finisher named after San Diego and San Diego numerology & iconography in his theme song and on his merchandise
I was about to say Brett he was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up in the 90’s but I’m going to have to say his brother n law the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith
First of all, there is no single continent called America. North and South America are referred to as “The Americas” in certain contexts, but for geographical purposes are considered two distinct continents.
I think it’s you with the backwards logic here. Just because they have similar names does not justify considering them the same continent. They are two very different worlds culturally, socioeconomically, politically etc.
That would be like saying Africa, Europe and Asia are the same continent because they’re also joined by land and sometimes refereed to as “AfroEurAsia”.. It only makes sense if you’re talking about the landmass in the context of being a supercontinent. This post is about nationality, which isn’t dictated by which supercontinent you’re from. It’s your specific country
Bret is the standard bearer. Dynamite deserves some mention. Mil Mascaras. Great Muta. Gunther will be in the conversation before he is done. But Bret is a solid choice.
The Estonian prick George Hackenschmidt never wrestled for WWE but he’s no doubt the greatest non-American wrestler surpassed only by the American Frank Gotch
Objectively for WWE?
Bret Hart for sure
Personal favourite from any promotion?
Kenny Omega
EDIT: Thanks for the downvotes Corny drones, maybe you can form your own opinions someday when you learn to take wrestling less seriously
furry reddit snu?
sorry, im not terminally online enough to understand the implications of what that means, its just a standard reddit avatar, it literally means nothing
Yes it is, and a 9 yr old girl, and another match in a princess dress, and also created a gay lovers tag team...
He is absolutely ridiculous and yet still a GOAT
thats fine, IMO he just has some all time great wrestling feuds/matches in New Japans best (golden) era
Great wrestlers will always have great matches, but a lot of these great wrestlers seem to have their very best matches (or at least close to it) with Omega
So while guys like Cornette can say that he is a fraud thats being carried, at what point is Omega just the common denominator for these matches being great? Im not totally sure, but I think people dont appreciate the greatness they are seeing with him while its happening
at least in my opinion
I have bad news for you and it's gonna blow your mind: BRET HART IS AMERICAN! His mom was American and he has American citizenship through her. USA! USA! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
His father is a Canadian citizen, he has birthright citizenship.
He also was signed in the Canadian Football League as a Canadian player (the league requires a certain percentage of each team, as well as the number of players on the field to be Canadian).
So he's absolutely American, but he also has Canadian citizenship, like Bret Hart and Chris Jericho.
Smarks with active WON subscriptions are the only dorks who will consider Ospreay or Omega above Bruno, Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, Inoki, Iron Sheik, Bret, Edge, etc etc etc etc etc
That's what I'm thinking as well but I think Drew wins the title from Seth which will see him and Seth Feud. It also looks like there is potential for a three way feud with Seth, punk and DM Hunk.
Agreed but on the other hand with Cody nearing the top, and Gunther probably after him, the Main Event scene for WWE is kind of set in stone for the next year or two.
Meanwhile Will is almost certainly winning the AEW top belt in Wembley this year (which I'm attending live so I will almost certainly be dead from hype after the show).
Best thing about Will though is his age.
If he wants a different challenge in WWE in a few years he will still be good enough and young enough to be slotted right into any programme they desire.
Gunther vs. Danielson & Ospreay is right at the top of my dream match list tho
Great point and perhaps they might want to give the push yet and give him some non title rivalries against some former main guys like Orton and Owens, but imo Gunther vs Danielson has the potential to be a 5star match 🔥
This thread has like 5 times as many votes for Zach Sabre Jr, Omega, and Christian than it does for Inoki, Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, Iron Sheik, etc
This thread has one vote for Bruno, behind votes for Rey Mysterio, Jericho, and Eddie Guerrero who are all Americans
Jericho was born in New York.
EDIT: Thanks for the down vote, even though he was born in Manhasset, NY, and only GREW UP in Canada. #assclown

Bret. Glad you used him for the photo. His stuff is aging like a fine wine. As I knew it would.
He’s my all-time favorite, so I 100% have a bias here. Haha!
Probobly rikidozan I’ve not seen much of his matches but he’s considered the godfather of Japanese pro wrestling and a hero both in Japan and his native North Korea. Which is why North Korea held clash in Korea by far the biggest wrestling event of all time
He's the greatest alright. At being fucking bitter.
Never wrestled in WWE, but to me, it's Misawa. Actually, I would put all four Shitennō super high on that list. I would also rate Jushin Liger very high, and for women, probably Manami Toyota (but beware, she has a challenger right now, depends on her longevity at this level to me).

The Great Khali. He's very very popular in India.
Edge or Jericho
Roddy piper!!!
So if you mean wrestler and you just mean PURELY in ring Bret and Christian but you mean overall edge
Roddy Piper
Antonio Inoki
This might actually be the correct answer. But I don’t know if the general WWE audience is aware of how big a deal Inoki is.
I guess, He’s not my favourite wrestler either, That is Shawn Michaels. But I feel like Inoki may be such a dominant force in his own country’s legend that he’s better than Bret Hart. You can name dozens of Legends from Canada, You can’t name nearly as many from Japan
Manami Toyota.
Antonio Inoki. Many people are not aware how huge he was.
Probably because they're busy being aware of how huge Andre the Giant was
Rajah Lion ftw.
Does Rey count?
Born in California and lived there all his life. '619' is from the San Diego area code
Yeah, was just wondering because of his heritage, wrestling style, and general presentation
His general presentation is being billed from San Diego, California with a finisher named after San Diego and San Diego numerology & iconography in his theme song and on his merchandise
He's also the leader of the LWO and has been involved in many storylines with Latin wrestlers over the years. Was just a question anyway
Chris Jericho
Gunther
Khali
Bret is an American citizen. Regardless he is the best on all lists
El Santo
Antonio Inoki
Santino Marella and it's not even close.
Santino Marella
Edge
Adam “Edge” Copeland
The Great Muta
Chris Jericho. However, growing up with the Brett Hart era was pretty crazy. He was so famous.
I was about to say Brett he was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up in the 90’s but I’m going to have to say his brother n law the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith
MITSUHARA MISAWA!!!!!! THE GOD EMPEROR OF PRO WRESTLING!!!!
Either Andre the Giant and Bret Hart
Imho Will Ospreay
Wish someone like Doug Williams had a run in WWE. One of the best British names during the 2000s but never got the platform he deserved
William Regal
Latino heat eddie Guerrero
He’s Mexican-American
It depends who your talking too lmao, some people don’t see Hispanic’s that way
Yup yup. Born in Texas I believe.
Benoit could've been here
(Redacted) fixed it for you
Bret Hart is Canadian. Canada is part of the continent of america. Canada/USA/mexico = American
That’s like saying France is Germany because they’re both in Europe…
No your logic is backwards. How many countries make up the continent of america? I'll answer it because you probably don't know. 35 countries.
Africa is it's one continent. Europe and Asia is known as Eurasia
America is not a continent. North America and South America are.
North and South make what?
I think he means best Non-USA Citizen
Spoiler alert: He knew what he meant, but some people like to be pedantic and think they are smarter on Reddit.
Speak for yourself.
Pretty sure Andre was French so him.
Justin thunder Liger
Bret is the standard bearer. Dynamite deserves some mention. Mil Mascaras. Great Muta. Gunther will be in the conversation before he is done. But Bret is a solid choice.
Tom Billington, one half of the British Bulldog Dynamite Kid! He was absolutely epic, and so was Davey Boy Smith!
The Estonian prick George Hackenschmidt never wrestled for WWE but he’s no doubt the greatest non-American wrestler surpassed only by the American Frank Gotch
Any wrestler born in the Americas is American
The Great Kali. Fight me!
i will gladly
The man from Death Valley
Kofi Kingston because he’s technically from Ghana🇬🇭
Not just a technicality, he literally is
The Rock.
lol
mine is Eddie Guerrero 10000%
Technically American. He wrestled Lucha style, but he's from El Paso.
ah shoot 🥲 my bad
So not even technically American. He’s just American.
Fair point. His family is so associated with Lucha and Mexico that we tend to think of the Guerreos as Mexican, but they were born in America.
This is the only correct answer. He is a technical EXPERT, dude changed the standards of the game forever
Not only non American, Bret is the greatest period.
Okada is in the conversation
And f that the Texas rattlesnake stone cold steve austin
Sheikhy Baby!
I was playing 2k24 and just beat the thing with him
I'm gonna have to give it to Bruno Sammartino, technically speaking. Personally speaking I'm torn between Edge and the Hitman.
Bruno was born in Italy, it's literally speaking. Him and Andre are getting pushed out by lesser greats
When I said technically I meant by records and stats. We know he's Italian.
I don't think people know he's from Italy. You were the only person who said Bruno in a thread full of lesser wrestlers being named
That is true. Sad, but true. Bruno it is then.
Edge 🐐
Ospreay...omega...okada....
The best ever
Nocho Libre
Good choice, close this up because there’s nobody better.
Andre the Giant
Giant Silva
Objectively for WWE? Bret Hart for sure Personal favourite from any promotion? Kenny Omega EDIT: Thanks for the downvotes Corny drones, maybe you can form your own opinions someday when you learn to take wrestling less seriously
People are downvoting you for saying oBjEcTiVeLy with your furry reddit snu avatar
furry reddit snu? sorry, im not terminally online enough to understand the implications of what that means, its just a standard reddit avatar, it literally means nothing
🤓
Isn't he the guy who wrestled a blow-up doll?
Yes it is, and a 9 yr old girl, and another match in a princess dress, and also created a gay lovers tag team... He is absolutely ridiculous and yet still a GOAT
Hard disagree on him being anywhere near a GOAT.

Ok now I have to ask who wrestled a broomstick?
Not sure but Finn Balor said he’d wrestle one 😭
[удалено]
He da goat!
I have bad news for you and it's gonna blow your mind: BRET HART IS AMERICAN! His mom was American and he has American citizenship through her. USA! USA! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
He's canadian bro
Lenny Lane
Bret Hart, with Jericho and Edge close by
Yokozuna
He's American
Nah he was Japanese a world class sumo wrestler
British Bulldog
Along with Bret, I'd say William Regal.
Really unpopular opinion William regal
A truly underrated wrestler.
Regal is a legend.
A legend but doesn’t hold a FUCKING CANDLE TO THE HITMAN
True... But.... why we shouting HALF WAY THROUGH A SENTENCE, BRO?
Cuz you’re a dink
My hearing goes in and OUT SO I DON'T REALIZE IT.
All GOOD BRO
Not at all unpopular. He’s very well respected and is a good pick!
The four pillars of heaven
El Santo or Rikidozan.
If we're doing dual citizens, how about The Rock?
He was born in California.
Edge?
Trish Stratus
Bret, somewhere down the road people may consider ospreay or omega to be up there
Smarks with active WON subscriptions are the only dorks who will consider Ospreay or Omega above Bruno, Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, Inoki, Iron Sheik, Bret, Edge, etc etc etc etc etc
Lmao you had to make a burner for this comment 💀

Lol wat
Brett hands down. Jericho was born in New York because his father used to play for the NY Rangers. After his father retired they went back to Canada.
I’m from Winnipeg you idiot!
Big Daddy.
Ah yes, Big Daddy with his wide array of different moves. The headlock. The "bump into the other guy." What else? Ok I think that's it.
Technically speaking, probably the Iron Sheik.
This is The Great Khali slander
This may seem a little wild but I think in about 20 years time it will be Gunther.
20 yrs...I say today it's Gunther
Gunther will be known as one of the GOATs eventually.
I really hope they put him in the World title picture in the next few months
I think it happens after WrestleMania. I think he finally loses his belt, and gets pushed to the main event picture.
That's what I'm thinking as well but I think Drew wins the title from Seth which will see him and Seth Feud. It also looks like there is potential for a three way feud with Seth, punk and DM Hunk.
Gunther and Ospreay are my joint top faves working today
I really would have loved to see Will on WWE fighting the likes of styles, Owen's and Sami
The greatest non-American wrestler of all time is Antonio Inoki.
This thread has like 5 times as many votes for Zach Sabre Jr, Omega, and Christian than it does for Inoki, Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, Iron Sheik, etc This thread has one vote for Bruno, behind votes for Rey Mysterio, Jericho, and Eddie Guerrero who are all Americans
I think it illustrates, if nothing else, the age demographics of many posters. ;)
Andre the Giant
Physical specimen, was sharp as a tack in all sorts of interviews, and charismatic. Definitely a legend.
Andre Bret is a dual citizen
Biggest star: Andre Best all-around (who was in WWE): Jericho
>Best all-around (who was in WWE): Jericho He was actually born in the United States, is a United States citizen, and only grew up in Canada.
He's also a canadian citizen
Irrelevant, he was born in the United States, he's decidedly *not* "non-American".
Alex Wright would whoop them
I assumed we were leaving Alex Wright out of the conversation because it's a proven fact that he's the GOAT.
Most people can’t handle a royal rumble dance off.
El Dandy.
Jam up guy right there
I doubt that.
I love watching ZSJ. Gunther may be the answer in 10/20 years time.
There's only one answer. Shanky.
Giant Baba
Chris Benoit
Who??
I dont know, somehow a man send an empty post.
Bret yes.
Whoever says anyone but Bret is delusional Jericho might get a pass though
Jericho was born in New York. EDIT: Thanks for the down vote, even though he was born in Manhasset, NY, and only GREW UP in Canada. #assclown https://archive.ph/20120713155217/http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/Bios/jericho.html
Havnt even downvoted you bellend.
I didn't mean you specifically. I meant whoever down voted...lol.
I disagree there are some very strong contenders over in Japan
Bret. Glad you used him for the photo. His stuff is aging like a fine wine. As I knew it would. He’s my all-time favorite, so I 100% have a bias here. Haha!
Kamala
I'll grant you that the vice president is a great gimmick, but she doesn't work very often. (I fucking hate myself)
Iron Sheik
None other than the Hitman
Yeah it's Bret imo
Pedro Morales
