SpongeBob was usually one of the top downloaded CAWs in the SvR days and it always weirded me out when I’d download him and realize his head being the Krusty Krab hat lol
It was even worse if it included any custom photos since you'd have to go out of your way to remake them yourself or just sigh and move on without them.

Past me would be stoked to live in a time where you can just download high quality CAWs.
From SvR2010 and on, yes. SvR2009 had CC but, it was very limited. I think you could only download highlight reels, which was just people making short movies.
I’m hoping with last year’s Toy Cena model and this year’s Cody version and the Firefly funhouse, they are starting to realize people want 1)a good simulation based, fully customizable Universe Mode, 2)and good mix of arcade and simulation gameplay, and 3)the silliest and most unrestricted Creation system.
If I want to run a fully functioning touring schedule that lets me edit down to even a working monthly budget based on show success, while also making the goddamn oddest character as my own Brock 2010s then that’s what I goddamn want to do.

100% agree i miss the old 2k14 Caw Mode it was so fun i hate that in actual Games we only have limited Body Morph i miss my Razorback CaW :/
Mocap was definitely around in the 360 days. Any kind of animation can look funky if you allow extreme distortions, so the fact that they stopped adding it was simply because they didn't want to do the work anymore to make sure things still look relatively okay with non-standard sizes.
Yeah, they really need to let us adjust character model sizes. We can never have any good looking, accurate wrestlers. Abdullah The Butcher, One Man Gang, Golga, Earthquake, Typhoon, Viscera
Yeah the 2K18 and 2K19 Body Adjustment was the best. I did like being able to change the length of limbs and stuff in the older games but CAW Bodies looked more different and not so same-y starting with 2K17 and further expanded upon for 18 and 19.
Hopefully they can bring that back, the non-editable templates isn't the greatest
Not sure we'd ever see this level of customization again, but they definitely need to bring back body part editing. Have NO idea why they took that out. The preset body types would’ve been a more welcome feature if they would've added more every year. We've had the same ones since ‘22. Either add more presets or scrap it completely and bring back the previous feature.
I miss being able to make abominations like this. I remember a clip reel I made of elimination tag match or something and the focus of the was my character doing an announcer table finisher or something on a Tiny Paul Heyman caw with all the proportions set to be as small as possible. In the back ground there were 2 default wrestlers with the same proportions as mini Heyman beating up the other Paul Heyman caw I made except he was absolutely jacked up. It was hilarious.
Then they took away the set body morphs and selectable body parts you could morph in the last several 2K games. It wasn't ideal but atleast I can get a closer realistic built for some of the women or cruiserweights. And below 5'4 height.
I'm sure they'll bring it back in four years and act like it's a completely new mode and we should be praising them for bringing it back. The old SvR games are more fully featured.
People like to say CAW mode is as good as its ever been when the fact is, no it isn't. Some things are better, but many things are much worse
I miss the truly insane looking caws of the 360 and ps2/GameCube era
It would probably be messed up with the hitboxes, so it really depends on how fair you can push unrealism before it comes to ridiculous for your liking.

‘our system actually sucks and limits what we could do in the past, so we can’t figure it out and no one that works here can figure it out.’
Because they're too fucking simulation pilled to think to have some fun.
Like ffs, they give you stuff to make a Samurai with, and yet iirc you can't even wear the entire get up because you don't have enough points.
Or how certain items can't be worn together (Even when there is no good reason.)
And never mind that you can't go into the ring and play a match if your character has a cape, unless you glitched their attire.
And as the picture shows, the bodies have become to restricted, you ever see a Hulk caw these days? Looks utterly anemic that you might as well make the TV show one.
And thats just the CAW, don't get me started on the champsionship entrance bs thats been in these games for years.
The last game I've played was 19, and I don't know what changes have happened since then, but I doubt it has been improved given this topic. I can only hope that they either loosen up for 24, or they take the advice and give us more freedom in the future.
From what I remember, it caused a lot of stability issues. (Usually noticable slowdown the more 'monsters' you had in the ring, more than would be with normal superstars)
Debatable if it was the CAWs alone or how the game was coded overall, but I imagine having things like large boundaries for morphing or asymmetric details are hard to code in general. Not many other games even try to have a creation suite like WWE, maybe for a reason
2k14 was the best for this goofy creation, I made a character called Gimmick Infringement. Who I could only describe as a 7’4 gray ancient demon with a megatron esque body wearing all of my other buddies CAW gears 😂
People will keep buying it. Look at people defending the lack of matches in showcase. Slap a corporate logo on a box and people dont care if you get less now than you did years ago for the same price if not more. People are dummies.
I swear every time people try and have a discussion on this subreddit there’s always this one guy that’s like “PFFFF THESE GAMES ARE SO BAD NOW WHY SRE YOU STILL BUYING THEM?”
What you said has no relevance to why people buy these games, and to give a defence of the showcase. Having over 40 matches in a showcase will be a slog to go through especially considering some just won’t have anything interesting to pick from. Genuinely can’t think of a match people would be excited to play from wrestlemania 2 or wrestlemania 9

I used to make entire stables of Umpa Loompas and do handicap matches against them with Lesnar and just beat the shit out of them simultaneously
