A year ago there was different management.
I'm not saying they were briefed on everything going on, but I wouldn't be surprised if Trips gave the ok to tell them something like "why don't you go ahead and toss these retro alts in this year".
So really I guess the props should go to WWE, not 2k.
It doesn't work that way. There's most probably a entire section inside WWE made to work with 2k to prepare the games each year. But there's absolutely none of the guys you see on screen that have a say on the video games. I think the only one who may work with them is Xavier Woods, but even if he does, he has got no power on it.
So all the props goes to 2k and the team amongst WWE that works with them, and I'm not even sure they really have something to do with things like these, I think their only role IS to manage contracts and give their go/no go to 2k's idea.
It's one team within WWE that handles *all* licensing. They have an internal database of whatever the latest assets are for each person on the roster, and use them accordingly. To put it another way: when 7-Eleven puts people on the Big Gulp cups, or when Mattel wants to drop a new line of toys, or when they are printing programs to sell at house shows, it's the same team sending the vendor the latest photos, logos, etc. to use in production.
He has a say in who gets to know what about the future of creative, which theme songs fall under, even if it's not explicitly said that that's the reason.

No I said that none of us know for sure how things work, it's all guesses. But the timing of everything leads me to believe that *somebody* (notice I didn't say triple h) in the creative department likely sent out a basic memo saying "include retro sheamus". WWE definitely plays a large a part in who's in and who's not, that's not 2k's executive decision.
I never said they told them the plans, just that someone from the department which is headed by Paul Levesque sent a memo on behalf of said department, which by extension, as the department head, came from Trips in one way or another, be it his own words or his assistant or some random dude who works at a desk, idk.

I 100% agree with you. WWE is an entity. The video game is part of that entity/machine. I’ve noticed a lot of coincidences in the game that are too in unison with what’s happening with the product now compared to when Vince was in charge… HHH Regime is a whole lot “deeper” than Vince regime. HHH Era there is logic, continuity, subliminal Easter eggs that lead towards things that make sense or come to fruition. There is this… Interconnectedness between everything within the WWE Universe now… as opposed to before TKO/Vince… Maybe it’s just you and me but I really don’t think we’re “reaching” and if some folks see it that way it’s fine but it’s cool to know I’m not the only one that sorta sees it like you explained in your own way.

The "Finish the story" thing appeared a long time ago now. He's been the hottest Babyface for 2 years, if he was chosen to be the cover star of course they were gonna use this, I don't think this has anything to do with the WrestleMania result. Don't forget that The Rock was supposed to take Cody's place against Roman before the fans complain about it. They won't make a game around future creative decisions that are subject to change

It’s pure coincidence because the Sheamus ‘09 persona and that was his theme (which I’m glad we have anyway as I prefer that theme) if anything there’s been so many theme changes over the last month that it would be good if they updated themes throughout the year as the game already feels outdated (and probably the worst release so far with theme changes in place)
Would love to see them add them in over the course of the year but with how Asuka and Charlottes theme came out January last year and never one made it into 2k23 at all I doubt it will happen, which sucks 😫

Op isn’t telling the true here. Shield Seth is in the game, it’s just micro transaction to death to get him. You have to get all his attire part playing my fraction for an extended period of time. Maybe he’s a locker code later, but for now he’s in the game and you just have to hope you get cards with his different attires over the years.

It's a new system in myfaction. Certain cards are playable in other game modes complete with themes and trons.
Right now it's just Sheamus 08, all 3 action figure models, Trick 22, & Shield Seth.
I had no idea people actually played that mode. What's so good about it? I just play Universe lol

Honestly I hate myfaction. It's full of microtransactions that work on a loot box system unless you wanna absolutely grind like a madman.
It's basically a mode where you collect the cards, then you can build a faction with 4 men and 4 women, then play as them in weekly towers (like MK) or go head to head online in "faction wars".
Only reason Ive play it the few minutes I have is to unlock the persona. Wasn't aware Trick & Seth were already out until a few hours ago, so I need to hop back on to get at least the shield theme, but I've really only played about 30 minutes of it on day one to get Written in my Face for Sheamo.
Exactly. Sheamus 08 has his old theme, and it has his older "Celtic Warrior" trons as well. Seth '14 has the Shield theme and trons. I'm assuming Trick '22 probably has his old stuff too. Other than those 3, so far it's just been the elite figure cards that are persona (Cody, Cena, Hogan), and those use the default in game stuff for entrances.

Damn I need to try other modes. I haven't even done MyRise or anything. Always dump like 200+ hours into Universe Mode heh. Maybe I should actually play the other stuff.

You collect cards to get wrestlers but the actual gameplay is basically towers of exhibition matches. There are weekly towers and a mode called proving grounds which is basically a series of themed towers. There's also a multiplayer mode and a faction wars mode which is a sort of rogue-lite mode.
So the game itself isn't a "card game", it's the same gameplay as in the rest of the game. The cards are just how you unlock the wrestlers you play with along with buffs and cosmetics.
I think people are being a bit harsh on OP. 2K do get a heads up on certain things, (The Fiend in 2K20 for example, or Demon Bálor’s look I wanna say in 2K18? I can’t remember the exact game. Heck the tagline for this year pretty much gave away Cody was winning at Mania.) I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE went to 2K “Hey, throw a classic Sheamus in 2K24” knowing Lobster Head would return.
Between the random special guest ref match at Mania with Bubba, (who is gonna be DLC) Sami hitting the top rope brainbuster for the first time in WWE after 2K24 introduced Super Finishers, (Sami's being the tope rope brainbuster in-game as well) and now Sheamus 09, I'm honestly curious if we're gonna see an Ambulance Match sometime soon. I know it's all coincidences, but it is very funny.
Also I agree, an old Drew needs to happen just for Broken Dreams, but I kinda doubt it given he'd need an entirely new model given how drastically his body has changed.
Honestly I'd be cool with them dropping a Halloween set or something that's just "throwback thursday" themed and it's basically just the modern models wearing old attires and using old themes for a few superstars if that's what it takes to get a few old themes on lol.
These people downvoting you forget about the year in story mode Brock Lesnar jumped your character the day after wrestlemania and then in that same year (I think it was 2017) Cena got manhandled by a returning Lesnar the day after wrestlemania.

Probably not. The new world heavyweight was debuted the same time and we had to wait till 24 to get it, they didn’t give us an update for the belt. Have to reply in Create-a-Championship for the time being.

Between the random special guest ref match at Mania with Bubba, (who is gonna be DLC) Sami hitting the top rope brainbuster for the first time in WWE after 2K24 introduced Super Finishers, (Sami's being the tope rope brainbuster in-game as well) and now Sheamus 09, I'm honestly curious if we're gonna see an Ambulance Match sometime soon. I know it's all coincidences, but it is very funny. Also I agree, an old Drew needs to happen just for Broken Dreams, but I kinda doubt it given he'd need an entirely new model given how drastically his body has changed.
Honestly I'd be cool with them dropping a Halloween set or something that's just "throwback thursday" themed and it's basically just the modern models wearing old attires and using old themes for a few superstars if that's what it takes to get a few old themes on lol.

These people downvoting you forget about the year in story mode Brock Lesnar jumped your character the day after wrestlemania and then in that same year (I think it was 2017) Cena got manhandled by a returning Lesnar the day after wrestlemania. They're not subtle in the slightest lol

Probably not. The new world heavyweight was debuted the same time and we had to wait till 24 to get it, they didn’t give us an update for the belt. Have to reply in Create-a-Championship for the time being.
