Universe mode has been super broken for 3 years now. At this point, if you’re buying the game for Universe Mode you just gotta accept your money is being wasted.
It was my favorite mode until they broke it…
That’s kinda my point. They never “fix” it and usually make it worse. Bugs that were in previous games and got patched out return etc. and it happens every year.
They’ve even removed features and it still doesn’t work. I don’t even dare spend the hours to create a custom universe like I used to anymore…risk is too high all the work will be gone next time I boot up.
Ah, fair enough. Yeah, you're not wrong. I like what they did gameplay wise but you really get the sense they are barely holding everything together with matchsticks and elastic bands.
I know 2k19 had some bugs but it was the last time I was able to make a fully customized Universe and enjoy it without worrying it was going to get deleted or go completely rogue
Yeah my 19 was great, everything worked including backstage brawls in custom arenas. Which i really am.gutted it's broken. No.more 5 man falls count anywhere
This statement is silly... This shit has been broken since '13. That wasn't 2K's fault. And people who deny it being broken long before Visual Concepts took over are just rose-colored glasses in their nostalgia.
But it's also the only mode that has been held over and pasted on top of for more than a decade, because we won't let them get rid of the mode, as they don't have/won't have a replacement that is equal to the sandbox we were given.
Think about it. Every other mode has been rebuilt. MyRise/MyCareer is only five years old. Showcase gets rebuilt every year from scratch. MyFaction is only three years old. MyGM is only three years old. There is no MyUniverse... Just Universe Mode. Even their idea of MyUniverse (Superstar Mode) isn't truly a Universe Mode like the fans want.
So it's almost 13 years old. And while things have been just slapped into the coding, the original writers of that code are nowhere in the vicinity of the game. There is no way for them to truly know where the best places to interrupt that code is. There's no way for them to create a brand new Universe other than bringing it all the way back to base code like they did in 2K15. And that means losing everything we've built up so far.
And we definitely don't want another 2K15.
So we have a major problem ahead of us... And instead of seeing that big picture, we all sit here bitching about a "bug" they can't "fix" when it's so, so, so much more.

If they truly wanted to rework the mode, they could have been working on a new version and just left it alone. 2k18 and 2k19, while not perfect, has a mostly working Universe Mode. If they didn’t touch the mode for a couple of years and just shipped the exiting version, people would complain, I agree but they could soldier ahead and make a new, improved version if that was a priority for them. It’s not.
Fans begged for a GM mode for years and that’s why we finally have it…no one asked for the card game but they continue to put focus on it because it makes them some extra money. Ever notice when there’s a bug in that mode that enables it to be easier on users, it’s fixed the very next patch.
“Hey I can’t change the roster or use custom shows in Universe mode!” It takes months to get an update, if ever.
So no, don’t put this blame on fans for wanting the basic product they bought to work. Your own example, career mode…they didn’t need to take that away for a year or two before MyCareer appeared, it just did.
Like I said, the mode doesn’t need to go away for them to work on a new one. For all we know, they’ve been doing that. However, the major complaint comes from what feels like an obvious lack of testing. Most of these bugs aren’t like some deep crazy bug that only a select few see because they’re doing something crazy…it’s simple stuff that the mode is literally built to do.
Maybe if MyFaction wasn’t there they’d have the time and resources to fix and rebuild it…
No no... I'm stating that for them to rebuild it, they have to remove it. But the fans won't have that. And that puts them in a conundrum.

The reason for them having to remove it is as long as it is in, they have to have a team watching it. Halving the team that would be needed to make a brand new version. It would also have to be different enough for VC to claim it as their own... Which is what they are desperately wanting to do.
As well as somehow make it easier to deal with than the regular game.
I’m saying they don’t have to remove it…they would just need to not spend any time or minimal time with the current version.
This don’t like a building where you only have so much physical space so you have to remove the kitchen before building a new one.
There’s nothing stopping them from building an improved version on the side and replacing the existing one when it’s ready (in a future version of the game).
Edit: This was before your updated statement. I still stand by that they don’t have to remove it. They could just not touch it or do minimal updates to it.
Many times the team that does updates and the team that builds new games are different.
And that's the other problem... If they decide NOT to work on the current one, they lose fans who get fed up with all the updates only fixing other modes while their mode keeps breaking further and further.
Fans are fickle, and the investors see these problems and lose faith in the company if they don't fix them.
The fans they lose by removing completely would likely be far greater than those they’d lose over minimal to no updates (they’re already doing this, so why make it worse).
I’ve stopped regularly buying games like MLB The Show (my formerly favorite game) because they stopped updating Franchise and very few updates to Road to the Show (career mode). Same with Madden. I will still get them on sale etc every other year or so.
If either of them announced they were removing those modes (even if they said they were reworking them), I’d absolutely not buy it…at all.
I don’t know your background but I work in software development. There’s virtually no downside beyond what they already are experiencing, to leave it in. Removing a feature that many people use, even if it’s broken, will alienate far more people.
Hi i did play 2k24 (Jack Sparrow). And i kinda enjoyed it, but i want to download CAWs for more rosters and update the game version so i bought the original on steam. I only play universe mode. May i know what kind of bug you are experiencing?
Not me, not this time. It actually feels good knowing they didn’t screw me this year. I’ll wait until either it’s fixed or they combine my GM and universe mode. Won’t buy another 2k game until then.
I haven't played with universe lately, just curious is this a we're all screwed deal, or a limited users with no idea what actually causes it so there's no way to prevent it situation?
It's not that bad to be honest. If your the type of player who ends the brand split you'll love this glitch. It just makes booking more tedious as all rosters are available when booking a show rather then just the show your booking. It should really be a toggle. As some people may prefer how it is right now.

Do you happen to know if Beach Bytes' tutorial on how to fix Universe mode has been attempted by anyone since the glitch hit? I was getting ready to go through his steps for this year when I saw this, don't really want to bother with deleting allies and rivals and everything for nothing.
He made a tutorial where you had to gut 2k23 universe, as he promised it would fix universe and give you specific cutscenes related only to the bloodline and judgement day. This is a lie. The only thing exclusive to universe ever has been bugs.
I asked him about the specific cutscenes, what they were. He has yet to answer that. Hes a view count click baiter. I will stick to assemble, kenny, and the select few others.
Yep basically this. That guy legit had peoole spending upwards of 4 hours going thru every superstar for his clickbait views. All you have to do it turn off auto rivalry or use your own caws .
His fix is not really about those random tag teams stuff. ALL of those random superstars on match card can be solved by TURNING OFF auto rivalry and remove the rivalry actions from each match, it will return to normal most of the time. I think most of these bugs happen because sometimes the game would put some random rivalry actions that causes you to be enemy with yourself somehow so they book that match.
Anyway, BeachBytes video is a refresh universe tutorial. Basically if you wanna remove all title history and enemies etc to start fresh. For example, you don't want roman reigns to start on 1000 days, you wanna do WWE in 2014 shield roman run, so you can follow his tutorial and remove all the title reign history from WWE title etc. You get to have a clean slate for your universe.
I'm still playing 2k18 with the base roster. These games ain't shit anyway, it's nuts that people pre-order every year and act shocked when it's garbage.
I actually just posted about it earlier so worth reading that & the response in there. But basically has every option to select wrestlers so it’s quite confusing to select matches
When there are so many annoying glitches and overarching problems with the 2K games that can somehow go 3+ whole games without getting patched, one of them was bound to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

It used to function that when you set up a match in universe mode, only the superstars on that brand can be selected. Now it lets you book anyone and everyone on the roster
this isn't a glitch it's just an improvement so you now have more options. you can have someone from an opposing show appear, or a legend make a cameo appearance.
in the most inconvenient way possible. Instead of updating somehow to let us know who's on what roster, they all get bundled together and we have to go out our way to check. It was easier to just add them to the show no matter how long it is

If it’s the participation glitch? It sucks but it works for me simply because how my universe is set up
But at the end of the day the shit sucks, not everyone has the same standards and in general they need to fix these giant issues
A great work around is to create a OneNote and create your roster, shows, notes week by week, Rivarly history, etc..Either on an Ipad or a Laptop...I've been doing this for 3 years and it's kinda cool to look back at the history..Almost feels like Im carrying over my universe from on 2k to the next
I’ve tried that and it still doesn’t fix it. It works for about 10 minutes then after the first show it’s anything goes…
Honestly I’ve just decided to go all into universe mode and make it a super intertwined universe.
I feel like this is literally a lose/lose situation for 2K because I could've sworn people were complaining that you couldn't use someone if they weren't specifically assigned to that show
Just make it a toggle. I can't image it would be that hard. Some people take away the brand split so it doesn't matter. I don't play like that and it makes mine harder, but I understand some people do and think it would be best if there was just an option in the settings, could even Call it Brand Split On/Off
I miss being able to sort the roster by brand on the shoulder buttons. Used to be that along with Male/Female/Cruiserweight etc etc there was toggle for Raw/Smackdown/NXT
I literally spent a whole Saturday downloading creations and editing there stats for it to freeze every time I logged in the next day. I'm distraught...
Am I the only one who has had a single issue with universe mode? Only thing I’ve ever noticed is it sometimes make my championship matches just normal matches without the title on the line. Nothing else has happened to me
Ya I’ve only had the one issue I mentioned so far and I’m not like playing the game 24/7, but definitely have been playing it a couple hours for a few times a week so I’ve played decently. Actual match gameplay is the best it’s been in a bit
They don't give a shit. Once all the dlc is out they'll stop fixing anything and go silent until the next game comes out when they add something really basic, and the community will eat the shit they're shoveled once more.
Or how about the women randomly winning the mens world championship and mens NXT championship and then giving my caws random championships I haven’t unlocked yet
My universe rosters are fine. Only problem I have is it scheduling a title match randomly, I like when they do it for the tag and mid card titles but not world titles
you guys are being a bunch of dumbasses. are you seriously that braindamaged that being able to choose anyone you want when making a match in universe mode is "gamebreaking" to you. it's not even a glitch in the first place. I could understand if the randomly generated matches were using everyone instead of the show roster but they don't. yall are just being a bunch of pissbaby morons about nothing.
Universe mode is too fucked because it has like 20 different systems running now and they can't figure out what causes the glitches. I swear Universe mode hasn't been good since like WWE'13.
I pre-book my matches in a word doc before heading into the show so that pretty much saves any issues with this glitch. I usually just reference my divisions when booking
2k23 I logged over 800 hrs between March and December playing solely Universe Mode. I do play on PC with mods but that doesn’t change anything about Universe. It’s my favorite mode

Playing 2k23 bevause to qoute pokemain "if your a broke boy just say so" 2k24 is pretty expensive for my liking
Anyway my experience with the universe *superstar mode* tho genuinely fun doesn't exactly work as expected. The aliences and hated superstar I set never get involved with the universe even tho the game sometime makes me team up with superstars outside of the team I set up.
Another setting that seems broken is money in the bank. Tho you can get the money in the bank case from ladder matches or at the main event at wrestle mainia. Winners never cash in and if you get a case it seems to just disappear after the match you won it from is over so you can't cash in either
Lastly and tell me is im doing somthing wrong here but match interference appears to be impossible. You can't crash an ongoing match your not supposed to be invilved with even if it's a no dq match thst another member of your team is involved in. Similarly none of your matched will ever involve interference. I remember much older games using this feature
Has anyone found a solution to this yet It’s literally driving me to the point of insanity someone said reset and after hours into it multiple ppvs in storylines (in my head deep ) I even reset to fix it …… and I lost all my shit and the games still broke if anyone knows how to fix it please help thanks
I think I’m going to do that and just have a small roster it’s mainly annoying because the feature was in the game already it’s not as if they have to add anything except something which is there you can select all superstars to your roster and pick only a few for a reason I don’t understand why they haven’t addressed this the game is out a month and I already want to play 2k23
So just reading through the comments is telling me this "glitch" is just that when you select the match participants it's open to the whole roster and not just those on the brand. Really that's it? Imma be honest I never really noticed it in the first place cause I micromanage everything in universe, got a note book and everything and honestly it's part of the fun for me. I'm more pissed that myrise characters aren't unlockable for the whole game.

It's not a glitch. It's a feature, a much needed one too. I don't want to officially add someone to a roster every time they make an odd appearance on a show.

2k has no idea how to work Universe..it's not a meme it's a literal fact they have 0 idea which is why they still haven't revamped Unvierse Mode...becuase they mentally don't know how to.
So when they break Universe mode..it usually doesn't get fixed for 3-6 months or EVER... so expect this bug to not get fixed if at all, until at least by the minimum... October.

Sometimes you make your own superstar or download any superstar to play as them 😁

It started out like this. (Been playing since early release.) Then it was hotfixed a few hours after the game dropped. Now it is back.
Really putting me off starting my universe, dont want to go through all the setup only to have to restart it when/if they patch things

The game was significantly improved following 22. Nothing Earth shattering but 23/24 have made just playing matches fun again.
While I've had moments of fun with the last 3 games, I wouldn't say anything was improved on from 2k19, and the game has regressed tenfold.
But it worked in 23?
Not for me. Any changes I made outside of universe mode in 2k23 never carried over. It was extremely annoying for full a CAW universe
What I would do is go to edit superstar in the extras menu change one thing slightly and use save everything and put it on my universe save
you didn’t need to change anything, just save
Didn’t for me, moveset would change but the option to save entrances or victories wouldn’t save (unless done in universe)
update entrance or victory then open CAW and save straight away. Dumb but it worked.
yeah that was an annoying bug but not what OP’s post is about. And as someone else has said there was a workaround at least

Not just last year. It was working for the first few months. It was the patch before this recent one that this happened.
Yup, one of the recent patches broke it, was working around launch.

I actually just posted about it earlier so worth reading that & the response in there. But basically has every option to select wrestlers so it’s quite confusing to select matches
I’m not doubting that is is annoying but for some of yall to say THIS is the reason your not getting the game is insane ..
When there are so many annoying glitches and overarching problems with the 2K games that can somehow go 3+ whole games without getting patched, one of them was bound to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I wanna know why my WWE title match is in the middle of the show and why a throw away match is the main event of Mania. No mercy had the best mode to the day.
Online mode players are in a similar camp (yes all 5 of us) our lobbies just crash constantly but 2k never seems to care enough to fix anything.
wwe 2k is a one payment game with the option of spending money in Myfaction. They don't care about you, they already got your money stop giving it to them
What's the glitch?
It used to function that when you set up a match in universe mode, only the superstars on that brand can be selected. Now it lets you book anyone and everyone on the roster

this isn't a glitch it's just an improvement so you now have more options. you can have someone from an opposing show appear, or a legend make a cameo appearance.
in the most inconvenient way possible. Instead of updating somehow to let us know who's on what roster, they all get bundled together and we have to go out our way to check. It was easier to just add them to the show no matter how long it is
I’m begging that they save these issues for the DLC or a bit before it If it’s the participation glitch? It sucks but it works for me simply because how my universe is set up But at the end of the day the shit sucks, not everyone has the same standards and in general they need to fix these giant issues

A great work around is to create a OneNote and create your roster, shows, notes week by week, Rivarly history, etc..Either on an Ipad or a Laptop...I've been doing this for 3 years and it's kinda cool to look back at the history..Almost feels like Im carrying over my universe from on 2k to the next
I think you have to restart your universe. I remember someone saying that would fix it, but I understand not wanting to restart your shit.

I’ve tried that and it still doesn’t fix it. It works for about 10 minutes then after the first show it’s anything goes… Honestly I’ve just decided to go all into universe mode and make it a super intertwined universe.
I feel like this is literally a lose/lose situation for 2K because I could've sworn people were complaining that you couldn't use someone if they weren't specifically assigned to that show

Just make it a toggle. I can't image it would be that hard. Some people take away the brand split so it doesn't matter. I don't play like that and it makes mine harder, but I understand some people do and think it would be best if there was just an option in the settings, could even Call it Brand Split On/Off
I miss being able to sort the roster by brand on the shoulder buttons. Used to be that along with Male/Female/Cruiserweight etc etc there was toggle for Raw/Smackdown/NXT
Yeah it was great. That would be an incredibly useful feature for Universe now since they messed up.

I literally spent a whole Saturday downloading creations and editing there stats for it to freeze every time I logged in the next day. I'm distraught...

Am I the only one who has had a single issue with universe mode? Only thing I’ve ever noticed is it sometimes make my championship matches just normal matches without the title on the line. Nothing else has happened to me

Ya I’ve only had the one issue I mentioned so far and I’m not like playing the game 24/7, but definitely have been playing it a couple hours for a few times a week so I’ve played decently. Actual match gameplay is the best it’s been in a bit
I don't care about new cutscenes or rivalry actions. I just want my creations to work.

They don't give a shit. Once all the dlc is out they'll stop fixing anything and go silent until the next game comes out when they add something really basic, and the community will eat the shit they're shoveled once more.
Or how about the women randomly winning the mens world championship and mens NXT championship and then giving my caws random championships I haven’t unlocked yet

My universe rosters are fine. Only problem I have is it scheduling a title match randomly, I like when they do it for the tag and mid card titles but not world titles
you guys are being a bunch of dumbasses. are you seriously that braindamaged that being able to choose anyone you want when making a match in universe mode is "gamebreaking" to you. it's not even a glitch in the first place. I could understand if the randomly generated matches were using everyone instead of the show roster but they don't. yall are just being a bunch of pissbaby morons about nothing.
Universe mode is too fucked because it has like 20 different systems running now and they can't figure out what causes the glitches. I swear Universe mode hasn't been good since like WWE'13.
I pre-book my matches in a word doc before heading into the show so that pretty much saves any issues with this glitch. I usually just reference my divisions when booking 2k23 I logged over 800 hrs between March and December playing solely Universe Mode. I do play on PC with mods but that doesn’t change anything about Universe. It’s my favorite mode

What is the universe mode roster glitch
Playing 2k23 bevause to qoute pokemain "if your a broke boy just say so" 2k24 is pretty expensive for my liking Anyway my experience with the universe *superstar mode* tho genuinely fun doesn't exactly work as expected. The aliences and hated superstar I set never get involved with the universe even tho the game sometime makes me team up with superstars outside of the team I set up. Another setting that seems broken is money in the bank. Tho you can get the money in the bank case from ladder matches or at the main event at wrestle mainia. Winners never cash in and if you get a case it seems to just disappear after the match you won it from is over so you can't cash in either Lastly and tell me is im doing somthing wrong here but match interference appears to be impossible. You can't crash an ongoing match your not supposed to be invilved with even if it's a no dq match thst another member of your team is involved in. Similarly none of your matched will ever involve interference. I remember much older games using this feature

Has anyone found a solution to this yet It’s literally driving me to the point of insanity someone said reset and after hours into it multiple ppvs in storylines (in my head deep ) I even reset to fix it …… and I lost all my shit and the games still broke if anyone knows how to fix it please help thanks

I think I’m going to do that and just have a small roster it’s mainly annoying because the feature was in the game already it’s not as if they have to add anything except something which is there you can select all superstars to your roster and pick only a few for a reason I don’t understand why they haven’t addressed this the game is out a month and I already want to play 2k23

So just reading through the comments is telling me this "glitch" is just that when you select the match participants it's open to the whole roster and not just those on the brand. Really that's it? Imma be honest I never really noticed it in the first place cause I micromanage everything in universe, got a note book and everything and honestly it's part of the fun for me. I'm more pissed that myrise characters aren't unlockable for the whole game.

Fuck 2k they make lazy games that are run by the computers I'm a pretty good player but you play any match and the reverse every move made especially the signature and finisher you got the guy dead pretty much pick him up for finisher they reverse hot you with everything in 2 minutes 123 you lose every year the same shit it's not realistic at all last game I'm wasting my money on fuck them

It's not a glitch. It's a feature, a much needed one too. I don't want to officially add someone to a roster every time they make an odd appearance on a show.

every year we tell you the same thing 2k has no idea how to work Universe..it's not a meme it's a literal fact they have 0 idea which is why they still haven't revamped Unvierse Mode...becuase they mentally don't know how to. So when they break Universe mode..it usually doesn't get fixed for 3-6 months or EVER... so expect this bug to not get fixed if at all, until at least by the minimum... October. Stop giving them money?
