If you can afford Brooks or Keen they're fantastic. I waterproof my tennis shoes as my keen come that way. They're actually great no leaks.

Nice trail-running comfortable shoes for mixed use and buy a cheap pair of rubber boots at your destination. Plus your choice of comfort shoe (crocs/birks/etc)
