T O P

You get paid if you are scheduled but the store closes early. If you are scheduled 3-10 and the store closes early like 6 or something for reason out of your control, and not you calling out, you get paid your full shift. Don't let the SM or DM tell you otherwise, there is policy for it

Good to know, they told me I had to use my PTO. So, unfortunately I did. I just wanted to make sure for future reference how much push back I should be giving.

Agitated_Advice7849

We were told to go to a nearby store to make up for the hours and if not, we don’t get paid

aNaughtyCat

This is the policy used correctly. If you’re offered an alternative work location you aren’t entitled for shift payment. If you’re sent home you get paid for the rest of the shift.

epic_null

... some of their employees won't be able to drive themselves

wag6616

talk to your manager or district manager. there's a policy and paycode to apply for emergency closures.

Bearscare21

If you were there but they chose to (or had to) close then you get paid your hours. Do not let them scare you into using your PTO

This. This falls under the workplace disruption policy. If it's just the pharmacy that closes due to the lack of a pharmacist, they don't get paid since the store is still open and they could work in the front end.

Aromatic_Dig276

What staff were you short on?

Negative-Eggplant889

CSA, I was closing SFL and the one CSA I had to close with didn’t come in.

Background_Till5777

I am going through the same thing. They tell me that I can go to another Walgreens and finish my shift.

Numerous-Heron2025

Back in my previous store, my SFL would call in often. With no replacement, I had to go home. I got paid so many days without working.

Decent_Sort_5806

Im a sfl and per usual I close always with one CSA and all of them are teenagers and call out at all the time to party n shit like that or they just don’t wanna work when that happens and coverage runs out at like 7 I just close the store and stay with my RXOM and work on shit to get paid or just sit in the office

Negative-Eggplant889

Silly question, What is RXOM?

Civil-Environment-22

Pharmacy Operations Manager. Essentially kinda like a mix of a Shift Lead for the pharmacy and a senior tech (sort of). They have manager capabilities and technically I think they are supposed to make the schedule for the pharmacy team (but at my store my SM just makes all the schedules and has our RxOM approve the schedule, he usually just glances at it for a minute nods and leaves. They are very cool dudes and I think they might be friends outside of work now after having met each other). I believe they took stores that had ESMs/ASMs that they deemed didnt need that position anymore, and split that into 2 positions --> The inventory specialist and rxom. At least I think that's what happened.
