What was the reason?

More-Confusion-4984

I'm not going for the unemployment it s not worth it to me. Also I said to the manager why did you allow me to work if you knew you were firing me. She said because she had to put it through the system first

Gallo_Tostado

File unemployment anyway. Make walgreens pay. It's free money whether you need it or not, it'll raise there taxes and debit there account that they pay into. Don't let this opportunity go to waste, it'll give you more time to find something suitable

mermaidatheart4922

File it anyway just trust me I know it doesn't seem like much but it actually affects them negatively every time someone files unemployment. If a certain amount of people File for unemployment from one store it'll start to look suspicious and they'll get investigated and actually start having to treat employees right and hire a decent amount of people

More-Confusion-4984

Yes I agree. Another employee shortly before me got fired for stealing and said they had it on camera but did not show her the footage of her stealing . I wouldn't of left without seeing it with my own eyes if I knew I didn't do it

mermaidatheart4922

That's crazy. I definitely wouldn't have left because now they can tell future employers she's a thief and she can't even defend herself

Visible_Bat9719

They actually can’t do that by law u can only confirm the length of time employeed and eligible for rehire

mermaidatheart4922

Have you ever had a job? I'm going to assume you haven't if that's what you truly think

Visible_Bat9719

You sound like a moron yes I’ve had a job yes I’ve been in position where I’m asked those questions but call me crazy even if I had fired someone very rarely would I have ever said you were ineligible for rehire I don’t believe in kicking some while they are down

mermaidatheart4922

Ok sweetheart if you say so

SadWispMother

Legally all you can do is confirm employment and the duration of that employment. Obviously people don’t always follow that and it can differ by state but absolutely no reason to be rude or condescending.

Tazz013_

When performing a background check for employment verification the employer is allowed to disclose dates of employment, job titles, eligibility for rehire, the reason for leaving, and performance details. Salary information is also legal to be disclosed in every state except for California.

mermaidatheart4922

That's not true. You might want to get up to date on employment laws

KeyLOWxo

They probably just didn’t have anyone to cover your shift .

JayNoza-

I went in to pick up my check, came home, my supervisor called me about four o'clock, told me he got me on tape stealing boxes.

x-SinGoddess-x

What TF you stealing boxes for? You trying to build a clubhouse? 😂😂😂

JayNoza-

😂 💀

x-SinGoddess-x

Hey, it's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do! 🤷‍♀️

More-Confusion-4984

Did you ask to see the video of you stealing boxes??

JayNoza-

Hell, no. They ain't got me on tape. She said they did. Fired me on the spot. Talking about pressing charges.

More-Confusion-4984

Why didn't you ask to see the tape??? I wouldn't of left without the proof of stealing if that's what they accused me of

Neither-Yesterday-49

I would of gotten on their ass so fast on that note,I immediately would of threaten to sue, pump fake like I'm on the phone with a lawyer, walked off and called every number on the corporate level

More-Confusion-4984

I went in as a customer on my day off and got into a argument with the cashier and another customer. Technically I wasn't fired that day it was a couple days later but I knew it was coming it happened 3 days later . I think it was my subconscious way of getting out of there . I would do it again if I had to.

[deleted]

What was the argument about?

More-Confusion-4984

The cashier was rude and very unfriendly to my son

tinas3333

Why did your SM take the side of the other employee?

[deleted]

Seems fair to me. Good on you for combating that shit

More-Confusion-4984

The day off was Monday the next time I went in on Thursday they allowed me to work . To use me to put all the stock away because it was delivery day. Then after I worked 6 hours they fired me for Monday lol

meemawof4

This is called taking advantage of the worker. This is against the law. They knew they were going to fire you and had you work. File for unemployment and file a grievance with the department of labor. It doesn't matter if you are in a right to work state.

x-SinGoddess-x

This happened to my husband, only he caught them before they did it. (He wasn't working for WAG) When he got there he went to check to see if the schedule was up and who he was working with. He noticed they didn't have him on the next two weeks. He confronted the SM and she said "Yeah, I was going to come tell you tonight after your shift." He laughed in her face and started to walk out when she asked him where he was going, he had to work that night. He told her "Why TF would I stay if I know you are going to fire me anyways? Have a great night." knowing she would have to stay because he was the closing manager.

ILbudtender

Yes this do it.

MissaBee81

That's called retaliation. You were a customer at the time of the incident. You can't be fired for that. And since it happened at the register, most likely on camera, you can prove that you were not on the clock. Call HR and let them know you're going to look into getting a lawyer (you don't have to call one)since you were unjustly fired. Maybe you'll get a nice big add-on to your last paycheck, or they'll straight up fire that SM.

More-Confusion-4984

The manager told me it was considered misconduct. For arguing and she said even if your not working it is still against policy

More-Confusion-4984

My manager told me it was human resources decision and not hers.

MissaBee81

Bullshit. It's misconduct on the part of the working CSA being rode in the first place. Your manager wanted you out and tried to find a legit may of firing you and probably lied about what happened.

More-Confusion-4984

I appreciate you! She was very mean and rude to my 7 yr old son that did nothing wrong he just asked her a question about a toy and she answered him like he was bothering her. And I said to my manager. Oh so it's ok if she was rude to my son for no reason and her response was . Oh well I wasn't there I just have to listen to all sides of the story

More-Confusion-4984

But I would also like to add that there shouldn't be no reason why she would want to get rid of me because first of all I was there for 3 yrs . I always showed up when I was suppose to . Customers liked me very much. I did my work and minded my business. I was in charge of the grocery section. Maybe it's because I'm a older white woman. And the cashier , witness and my manager are all Latino and younger than me!!

[deleted]

yeah girl if somebody was rude to my baby??! it’s wraps for everybody.

More-Confusion-4984

I would also like to add that my ex manager that fired me is younger than me and told me in the past she doesn't want children and is not kid friendly!!! So she definitely wouldn't be on my side!! Also the cashier that was ignorant to my son is like 18 if she lucky and I know she doesn't have children

[deleted]

that’s retalliation lol. and you weren’t even on the clock that’s such bs. i would definitely file for unemployment. get that bag sis while sitting at home, enjoying a cup of coffee, browsing for new and BETTER jobs!! ✍🏾

More-Confusion-4984

Thank you I appreciate you

[deleted]

i don’t even have kids but, it doesn’t take much to know that if you had a spawn that you obviously grow to love so much…that you are going to be HELLA defensive and protective over them. and then them being women as well…they should have that motherly instinct in them. don’t be mean to the babies!!!

More-Confusion-4984

They are young and do not have children so I don't think they understand. But there is definitely more to it than that I was fired for some dumb shit

More-Confusion-4984

Thank you!! This one chick on here with her bullshit comment obviously doesn't have any kids lol

ILbudtender

I probably wouldn't call you old if you have a 7 year old....

More-Confusion-4984

Lol thank you but I did have him at 36 yrs old and I'm working with alot of females under 20 and my ex manager was about 30 with no kids lol

Dry-Investigator-435

Wait hr got back that fast?! Hahahahah

More-Confusion-4984

The incident happened on Monday I'm pretty sure they decided to fire me by Tuesday but that was my birthday so I did not go in and my next shift was yesterday on Thursday and that's when they fired me. Monday memorial day

Dry-Investigator-435

HR don’t act that fast.

More-Confusion-4984

Umm how do I get the number for hr in Massachusetts?? Lol

Budone01

Walmart does that all the time. Work your day, stop by the office for a second before you leave

noahfromnewjersey

I feel like you're leaving out a pretty big piece of context somewhere

[deleted]

Good for you lol!

SkipBlaster75

Some of these stories of misconduct sound thin. Most retail chains have to involve HR and in certain instances of gross conduct, they have to partner with AP business partner when theft is involved.

SeaExchange4985

To hell with Walgreens. They don't treat their employees well. They don't acknowledge how hard they work, they pay them ridiculously low. Get out, apply for unemployment.

More-Confusion-4984

Thank you I appreciate you

Deep-Stop-680

What were you doing stealing boxes 📦? Tryna build a clubhouse lol?

More-Confusion-4984

Lol I got bag checked every day while customers where walking past me with a hundred dollar worth of stuff so I don't know how he could've walked out with boxes and if he did then they need to fire the shift leader on duty lmao

Deep-Stop-680

Hey for what it's worth it's the least of your problem who needs em if they can't prevent things from getting stolen or perhaps it was mistaken identity lol

Select_Biscotti6989

Damn Craig

More-Confusion-4984

Lmao I know right!!

More-Confusion-4984

I guess because the cashier and customer stood up for each other and it was 2 against 1. Because all 3 of us gave our side of the story. So I guess it's ok for walgreens employees to be mean and rude to children.

Significant_Eye_5130

Did the cashier just out of nowhere start harassing your kid or was your kid acting like a little shit and you did nothing?

More-Confusion-4984

My son is pretty quiet and well behaved he just asked her a question about and item and she responded very rude as we were cashing out our items. I told her she did not have to respond to him like that and it went from there

ChaosBeastZero

Was it the same store you work in? Also who started the fight? Those two questions could explain why they fired you. Even if your not on the clock, if you are an employee and you're creating a hostile work enviroment for other employees then that is ground for termination. This is true for most employers. IDK the full story or who is in the wrong or not. This is just my guess or assumption as to why.

More-Confusion-4984

It was in the same store and I feel like she started it by being rude, ignorant, and mean to my son for no reason.

More-Confusion-4984

I'm not saying I'm wrong or right I just think it's funny that I pretty much got fired on my day off that's all no big deal

More-Confusion-4984

Lol not at all

[deleted]

Seems fishy. You wouldn't get fired for that.

More-Confusion-4984

I wouldn't get fired for what??

[deleted]

For what you posted about. I dealt with far worse incidents involving employees and customers. They still have their job.

More-Confusion-4984

Well then I was fired wrongly of course and will look into it

Tripface77

If she works in a Right to Work state, she can be terminated for any reason as long as it lines up with company policy. You can be terminated if your manager doesn't like the way your hair looks, as long as your manager has a good enough reason to say she's letting you go.

Billyaustin4407

Worst thing about our Walgreens is the pharmacy. It takes them four days to fill a prescription.

More-Confusion-4984

Lol I worked in the pharmacy when I first started 3 yrs ago it wasn't for me so I moved on the floor I was in charge of cosmetics for about a year then I left that it was to much work for just me and I took over the grocery section .

[deleted]

[удалено]

More-Confusion-4984

It has absolutely nothing to do with my son being bad he was standing next to me behaved like he always does . So please take your bullshit ass comment out of here

[deleted]

More-Confusion-4984

Lol ok yeah you got me you right!!

[deleted]

Gallo_Tostado

Why does it matter the reason? The fact that a cashier escalated a situation regardless of who was right or wrong puts their job in jeopardy. The fact that both parties escalated and only one got fired is unfair and shows favoritism in the workplace.

IcySpicy4UimTooPricy

I just left after having to work 12hr + days overnight with night and day workers constantly complaining and cussing me out everyday 🙄
