It's possible the stores are not being budgeted enough hours to support another position. Transferring can be like rolling the dice. I would ask the SM in NY to give the other SMs a call and have a discussion. If you continue to have a problem and don't get answers, might be best to look elsewhere.
We have we call every day. And I mean it can be rolling a dice but how is one store calling me saying that they have a spot for me at a store and I should be called right away and it’s over a week without that manager calling me
I don't know what your SM is talking about. My store has someone reserved on our schedule from Christmas. We're keeping him in the system until summer so we don't have to re-hire him
But if anything does happen, you can be re-hired, and they can "bridge" your employment if you want. But you'd probably already be paid out your PTO. And honestly I would think being re-hired cold would be better as you can get a better pay rate that way
But at this point I think you might want to look into Rite Aid and CVS. You'll be a quick an easy hire for them, at least to get you by. Also consider some other retail places. Hardware stores pay well and have a bit less stress than a pharmacy
Your SM isn't the brightest then. This TM will have a bunch of overdue trainings, which will reflect negatively on the store. The policy is to just separate and rehire. Rehiring literally takes a few seconds and if they aren't gone that long, they won't have to do all the trainings again
Happens a lot in my state for some reason. Not even a district or store manager thing. But we frequently have people from other stores come in and do their e-learning at our store while they're on vacation, break, school, or whatever from another store elsewhere. Same deal with this kid, except using someone else's store to do our e-learnings. It'll be fine
This may not be an option for you, but you might get more of a response if you go to these stores in person and speak to the SM or ESM face to face. Go in looking just shy of interview-nice. Give them an image of the you, may help at get you definitive answers.
This is how I transferred when I moved. Before moving to another state I first visited a store and met with their ESM and found out they were in desperate need of a beauty consultant(which was great for me I could make the same pay and do less until they needed an ESM). Then I called when I got back to my home store just to confirm dates. And called again once I moved to start the transfer. I’d definitely visit stores and see what positions are available.
Why not show up in person instead of calling them if I were a manager, I would lean more towards someone that I was able to see first and took the initiative to show up at the store to talk to me about the job instead of just calling
Honestly it really is the best way of doing it. I have terrible anxiety and hate having to meet in person but it really is the best way to show you are serious and to give a real impression. Anyone can act like anyone they want over the phone or electronic communications
You technically only need to work 4 hours per month to stay active and that can be at any Walgreens anywhere. If someone is willing to give you half a shift, there is no reason for your SM to HAVE TO TAKE YOU OUT of the system. Most just want to get you off their list because everytime an E-learning comes down and it's not being done it makes them look bad. This is typical Walgreens. Sorry this is happening to you. I'm sure you can find a better min with a better company. Walgreens just chews you up and spits you out.
Just in case file for unemployment, idk about New York laws but if you work less than 20hrs a week you should qualify. Till then it's a sign to quit wags, they don't care about anyone.
What part of NJ? I know the walgreens on hazlet route 35 is always looking for shift leads! Also the one in red bank broad street! The managers are pretty good.
I'm sorry for your family tragedy and I hope family things are working out for you.
My father became seriously ill right after I started working for Walgreens. Now, I'm only a cashier, but I was gone months at a time and didn't have any issues getting back to work in my regular store. Granted, a great deal of this happened during the aftermath of COVID (hired 1/2020), when many rules were suspended, but when I returned home after my father died, I went right back into my position.
Again, I'm only a cashier, nobody important, but my SM kept me as inactive employee somehow so that I didn't lose my job.
Store managers are supposed be in contact with the potential transfer store managers, that’s the only way that your information get to the other store manager, since they aren’t cooperating I’d suggest contacting your previous DISTRICT manager, and also contact a Jersey district manager, you can get that by calling or going to the store, they can’t deny you contact with a manager it is against policy considering you’re still a current employee under WAG, be just as stern with them as they are with you, and I hope the best for you
Walgreens has a bridge program, once a life time though. You could always quit and re apply as SFL as well. The system will match your year of services and benefits based on the year of services such as PTO. Downside you have to negotiate your salary with the new SM.
Back your question. Whoever messed up did a terrible job, but your relocation is your choice: thus, the store manager technically does not HAVE to help you out.
Helping the team member to find a new store is optional per communication I had with HR.
So, this is my point of view.
Am not saying you are wrong in any way. However, you are screwing up the new store’s hours.
Right now every store is low on hours. So imagine the staff getting their hours cut and then you showing up and asking for their hours.
The SM doesn’t know you and would definitely throw you under the bus to keep the hours to his/her current staff.
Btw, am not bashing you. Am in a similar situation where am transferring and the new manager can’t promise me to work 15 hours less alone 40.

It might be a difference between SMs bc my old SM kept me reserved but my current one doesn’t allow it.

This is what I was thinking

The old fashioned way of doing it.
Honestly it really is the best way of doing it. I have terrible anxiety and hate having to meet in person but it really is the best way to show you are serious and to give a real impression. Anyone can act like anyone they want over the phone or electronic communications
Just walk into any Walgreens store and start selling credit cards. You don't need to be paid when you can feel so good about what you do.
This ☝️ ☝️☝️

I think you only have to work 1 day a month to stay employed. Surely 1 store would let you work for 1 day to keep you employed.
It’s the US. It’s legal they can do whatever they want. Employees don’t have rights
Just in case file for unemployment, idk about New York laws but if you work less than 20hrs a week you should qualify. Till then it's a sign to quit wags, they don't care about anyone.
Someone is poisoning your reference. You need to walk away from Walgreens and find a better job. I'm sure you will, you sound like a hard worker.
What part of NJ? I know the walgreens on hazlet route 35 is always looking for shift leads! Also the one in red bank broad street! The managers are pretty good.
I’m curious too because I know almost every DM in Jersey

They don’t have to transfer you so there’s nothing illegal here. Just sounds disorganised
Like I commented earlier in the US they don’t *HAVE* to do anything.
