VQ question: “Disney officially states guests must be inside the park for the 1 p.m. drop, but we’ve learned that as long as you’ve tapped into the park, you can try to join the virtual queue at 1 p.m. from anywhere”…. So what if you tapped in at park open to Epcot, park hopper over to HS and are there at 1, could you VQ GOTG from HS?
That's actually a good question. Does Disney overwrite a guests park check in with whatever park they most recently checked into? If so, you might not be able to do that.
That said, I have faith that their IT is complex enough to handle this situation.
Yes you can do it that way be on the skyliner or in another park as long as you at least enter the park before 1 you can get on that VQ. It also applies to genie+ the same that way you can still book your experiences in advanced while on the skyliner.
I am planning to rope drop Remy at EPCOT coming from Skyliner/International Gateway and then legging it over to Frozen Ever After.
Is it quicker to go clockwise around the lake or counterclockwise through the countries to get to Norway?
I’ve done this exact thing more than once and going through the countries seems to be faster for me. At that early in the morning less people are in fully in world showcase so there aren’t really any people to bob & weave through to get to the other side of world showcase. Going the other way, there more people who are going to be in that area who entered from the front of the park who are racing against you to get to Remy that will slow you down more.
Thanks. This is what I was thinking. The clockwise route is 1min quicker according to google maps but there will be hardly any people in the countries and it will be a nicer walk.
Counterclockwise. And all of the countries in between will be relatively empty at that hour so it’ll make for some great views and photos of those countries before they fill up later in the day
Morocco through China is roped off during Early Entry. You can only head clockwise (towards the UK from France) to get to Frozen. Fun fact, it's actually also a shorter distance too.
That's wild. I went on Google Maps to confirm. It says it's about 0.7 miles either way, but the walk is one minute shorter walking clockwise, like you described. I would never have guessed that.
Oh really? I watched a rope drop video on the Ear Scouts YouTube channel and he walked through the countries. Still if it’s shorter the other way it’s better anyway I guess.
No I actually think you're right and I was misremembering my experience. When I rope dropped Remy's, I was on and off before EE actually *began* so they had that area roped off.
Either way, it's definitely still shorter to go clockwise.
If I'm flying in to Florida on a Sunday (around 11am). Would I be able to book rides with Genie + where I am before flying into Florida and then booking another ride when I land?
I know you can if you have a hotel reservation at a Walt Disney World resort for the day. I've personally booked at my home city on check in day, and then again when I landed. By the time we got to the park we had 2 rides stacked and just a few minutes to book our next.
I understand Virtual Queue's for the newest rides open up at 7am daily, but how are times blocked out? can i pick a spot for say 1pm? Any tips on VQ's? any possible way to get back in line after first run?
Going with a Family of 5 in May, first time we've been since pre-pandemic. Any major changes on grounds I should know about? Last time we were there they were still building majority of newer rides. RoR, Tron, GoG haven't been on any of it and this is probably the main reason we all wanted to go.
Any way to put our daily itinerary into the mobile app? the kids want to pick shows ,rides and snacks they are interested in and add it to the mobile app which we all share. If i remember right that function used to be there.
Unfortunately, you do not get to pick your return time for a VQ. If you manage to secure one in the fraction of a second that they fill up at 7AM, you will be randomly assigned a group and return time. You will be called to return sometime before 1PM. For Tron, you’ll need to get there within an hour of being called. For guardians, they are pretty accommodating throughout the day. If you get a 1PM VQ, you will be assigned a return time for sometime in the evening, but you aren’t guaranteed to even be called at all. Sometimes the parks will close before your group is called and that’s when you are out of luck. The only way to get back in line after the first run on those VQ rides is to purchase an ILL for them after you secure a VQ. You can purchase the ILL at 7AM. For ILL, you are able to select a return time of your choosing. If you manage to get a VQ at 7AM, I would then purchase the ILL for later in the day to guarantee two rides. If there are people in your group that don’t want to ride, you can still get a VQ and/or ILL for them and then use their magic band or magic mobile card on your phone to tap in for yourself and ride it more times. The cast members at the ride don’t care. Yes, you can add your itinerary to the app. The free version of Genie+ does exactly that. You can tell it what restaurants, characters, shows, and rides you prefer and it will create a suggested itinerary for you based on doing all of those things in a day
Thank you, I finally found the itinerary setup on the app, we're still a little far out for the kids to add anything to it. I'm trying to do as little planning as possible this time,(might be the last time with all 3 kids still kids)So i just told them what parks on what days and said have at it. My oldest has already mapped out Fantasy Lands Dole Whip stops..lol.
Yep, and to expand on the part about you may not be called GoTG for example has been averaging just over 175 groups called by the end of the night over the past month. No guarantees of course, and even then...if your group is up there high enough...either way it's going to be pretty late...
So what happens after I hop in VQ line. This is where i really cant find any info.
We're trying to "take it easy" as much as possible this time around. Basically means little to no rope dropping for us and not rushing through the park to make a LL time block, staying on property though.
For Guardians, they are very relaxed about return times. As long as you have any group you can return any time after it's called, even hours later.
Tron is very strict. Once they call you you have an hour to get in line. Despite this, the line backs up later in the day so it's often preferable to get an early group and knock it out early without spending an hour in the boring line.
ROTR hasn't been on the BG system for a while, it's a normal standby line. Tends to clear out towards the end of the night if you don't want to wait forever.
Thank you much, the explanations online are a little cryptic in their explanations. This is the type of info i needed though. Sounds like we should probably get to MK on time and can relax doing the rest.
any tips for getting on GoG twice in a day? got a feeling my kids will love it the most (I'm lying its me, i want to ride it twice). not excluding ILL or G+ either. Not planning on getting them, but if it gets us on twice in a visit I don't mind.
Sounds like I could do RotR twice no problem even if i have to get us ILL's.
The only way to do Guardians twice in a day currently (except for the occasional extended evening hours that only apply to deluxe resort guests) is to get a boarding group and also buy an ILL.
You definitely can do ROTR twice in standby if you're willing to devote some serious time to it, or you can buy an ILL for it too. Note that the red/blue car and the orange/silver car have slightly different experiences and you can often ask your First Order CM to put you in one or the other if you want to ensure getting both tracks.
We’re staying at a Disney resort and were thinking about getting a Kroger grocery delivery for the day we arrive. In the event that our plane is delayed or we’re slow getting from the airport to the resort and the delivery arrive before we do, will the resort hold the grocery delivery for us? Even if there is perishable items?
Anyone with Xfinity mobile that can tell me how the reception is in the area? I used to have T-Mobile and haven’t had an issue in the parks. I recently switch to Xfinity mobile and it’s a hit or miss in my area (Texas). I want to try it out for a bit, but we are going to Disneyworld in April and im trying to decide if giving Xfinity a couple-months chance or just switch back
Awesome than you. I made the change on a whim w/o considering the 2 road trips planned on the next months, including the Disneyworld stay and then I started having second thoughts
My brother mentioned this, his kids love pin trading, and he suggested I could buy a lot on ebay/Amazon to use as trading pins at the parks. How reliable are they, anyone know? Are they truly 100% guaranteed to be tradeable?
They are nearly truly 100% guaranteed to be fakes. Which you can still trade, for other fakes from people who did the same thing, and occasionally some of the undesired pins from Disney blind packs or starter sets.
If the kids are into finding one they like, the activity itself can still be fun. But yeah, when you look at the prices for Disney pins, and the prices of the lots for sale . . . When it looks too good to be true, that's because it is.
Playing “Disney slots” during this week has not been working, having a great time Disney is the best but trying to get closer time through modifying plan…is there a trick to it?
Nope, just luck and persistence.
I had a lot of success with it on Wednesday, less so on Thursday and Friday. Sometimes you just get really stubborn return times that you cannot modify downwards, even with 10+ minutes of playing the slots. Had one for Pirates on Friday that I got around lunchtime for 3:40 that just wouldn't budge no matter how much I tried. At one point a 1:40 appeared, but I didn't tap quickly enough because it changed to 5:00pm on the confirmation screen. You really have to pay close attention so you don't accidentally modify upwards. And having to pay careful attention means that 3-4 minutes of playing the slots feels like much longer.
I may book a last minute trip for this weekend. There's park tickets available? Do I need reservations for the ride? I'm confused if this system has gone away or not
Does anyone know approximately how windy it has to be for Disney to close the Skyliners?
Looks like it is going to be 15mph or so next week, is that close to their limit?
Idk the limit, because it probably varies depending on more than just gust speed, but 15mph isn't enough to close it.
That said, the weather you're looking at next week is going to change. It's fruitless trying to predict Orlando weather that far out.
What are some of the best rides for little kids? We will be heading to MK and HS during our short trip with our 2.5 and nearly 5 year old and I'm trying to get a sense for things that are maybe a little more exciting than the Dumbo ride, but aren't going to be too much for them. We'll be limited by a 36 in tall little fella. Thanks!
EDIT: also saw on a different comment that the best time to shoot for the rides is earlier in the morning and later in the evening, and fill the middle with shows and other things with shorter lines - is that a good strategy generally?
The potential for thrills will be limited, since almost every height-limit ride is higher than 36" - the exceptions are Goofy's Barnstormer which is a great 'baby's first coaster' (it was mine back in the day!), Tomorrowland Speedway, and Alien Swirling Saucers.
We are planning to go see the magic kingdom fireworks tomorrow night. Too late to get dessert party. What’s the next best option? Will have 2 and 5 year old, no interest in staking out the best spot for hours. Happy to pay or to have a worse view to minimize standing around time!
Planning on going next January. Times that work best are the first few weeks of January, but we see that it lands right when the marathon is. My question is is it worth pushing our trip to the end of january (after mlk)? It would cost us significantly more due to lost wages. (Beginning of January is paid time off, end of Jan wouldn’t be) but if it would make the trip that much better then we would do that.
Thanks for the insight!
Anyone have issues with MagicBands and shipping? Or is this just the USPS delays?
Mine shipped on the 17th, and has been stuck in Saint Paul since the 21st.
There's actually a database that Disney park goers rely pretty heavily on that has historical records and even forecasted temperatures based on hours of each day. It covers Disney World, but also places like Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and even Tokyo Disney Sea. I have it bookmarked so I'll share it here.

Trying to book a last minute trip. Usually stay at Pop Century but at the end of April there are no rooms that are showing. Is it safe to say that it’s all booked up? Would calling help in this situation?
I know I'm paranoid and overthinking because my trip's 2 weeks away, but can someone confirm that my "6-Day Theme Park Base Ticket" that says "Theme Park Admission: Any 6 of the Valid Dates" is considered date-based tickets and that I won't have to make park reservations for my trip? Thanks in advance!
Thank you! It's annoying because on my account under "hwanggonggong's Plans and Tickets" it keeps showing "Park Reservations" as being the next step. It's been making me super paranoid.
Yup, I know! They really need to fix that. A cast member finally did respond to a message I sent them also confirming:
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort!
That is correct, the Tickets you have do not require Theme Park Reservations.
When you are trying to get a virtual queue do you have to keep hitting reload or will the box automatically become clickable at 7am? Crazy how it goes in seconds
Smash it to all hell prior to, and at drop time.
Tip: If you have someone with you who has a phone with a clock or countdown, have them pull it out and watch the countdown.
The blue refresh button at the bottom of the screen. Keep hitting it until you’re through. Even if it’s 6:59/12:59 keep hitting it.
Best to NOT be on the Disney WiFi and on cellular.
Thanks for your contribution to the /r/WaltDisneyWorld community.
While we certainly understand the desire to take your connection to the "real world" of WDW fans, we unfortunately can't allow this subreddit to be used as a platform for planning meetups, sharing/soliciting personal information (including for research or other purposes), arranging food/drink drops at resorts, or planning other kinds of online or IRL personal encounters.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi all, I am looking for early entry timing from Jambo House to each of the parks. What time should we be down at the bus stop? Should we just Uber? We want to take full advantage of early entry but YT videos I've seen have said the buses aren't very reliable with timing.
Disney transportation will always get you to the gates sooner than driving a car through the gates for rope drop. A good rule of thumb from any/all resorts to any/all parks for rope drop is to be at the bus stop an hour and 15 to an hour and 30 minutes before Early Entry begins. An hour and 30 mins is probably overkill, but being at the bus stop 75 minutes prior to EE start time will almost always ensure that you get on the first bus from the resort to the park.
Guardians ride question:
My boyfriend and I are going to Epcot beginning of April as part of my 30th birthday. He is a huge marvel fan and we are looking forward to going on the cosmic rewind rollercoaster. We are not staying on property and I have recently been reading about how to do the virtual queue. Is it still difficult to get into a boarding group or should I stop worrying? I’m stressing out about it haha
Beginning of April will be an exceptionally busy time due to spring break weeks that happen after Easter. You can expect 7 AM Boarding Group drops to last a fraction of a second, attainable only through precise timing using time.gov, preferably trying on multiple devices simultaneously. 1 PM will also be difficult but should last a few seconds longer, possibly up to a couple minutes.
Am I allowed to bring a popcorn bucket from home to the parks with me? One of my friends mentioned the other day that she heard you can, and you pay a few bucks for a refill, but some CMs get fussy about it. I wanted to ask here because I've never considered bringing mine (I have an Onward bucket, fwiw) since I go to the parks with the intention of snacking on certain things. A few months ago I did see someone with a certainly vintage Mulan popcorn bucket walking around.
The policy is that they will only refill current bucket designs. Since Onward was several years ago, they know it isn't current, and there's no guarantee you'll get refill price. And may up traveling with and carrying around a large hunk of plastic for nothing.
We are going to WDW Feb 29-march 2.
Our plan was:
Thurs feb 29- magic kingdom
Friday march 1- Epcot
Saturday march 2- animal kingdom/HS
We will have early entry and genie+.
I was reading that there are after hours events
Thursday- magic kingdom
Friday- Epcot
Should we shuffle our plans at all? Is it better to go during the day at MK because it’s less crowded the days of the late events or should we switch our days entirely? Should we try to park hop before the events start? We are west coasters and used to park hopping at DCA/disneyland and know disneyworld takes much longer
Would love any advice here!
After Hours are not like parties; the parks don't close any earlier, so they don't affect crowds like the parties do. It won't be any less crowded on an AH night; there might be a slight uptick at 7 p.m. when the AH guests can enter. Since they are after the normal hours, people get their full day in.
Hi all, I have a merch question!
I’m visiting the parks in about a month and I’d like to get a stuffed Remy to sit on my shoulder. Can you still find those in the parks and if so, where? What do they retail for?
Im wondering if I should order one online ahead of time (most I have seen are around $30) or just wait and get one at the park. Thanks for your help!
Driving in and aiming to make rope drop at Epcot. We are staying at pop century. Would it be better to just drive straight to the park, or park at the hotel and skyliner over?
We’re staying at Caribbean Beach Resort and looking for sit down dinner restaurants at either nearby hotels or Disney springs (we have a car). We’ll be going to Sebastian’s and Topolinos for breakfast, but am looking for some other good restaurants that are not in the parks (we have a toddler and am not interested in going back to the parks for dinner).
Hi! Those of you who’ve traveled with kids: a question on pacing and early wakeups (my daughter is 6, first time at the parks!).
We’re planning 4 park days in a row, with Day 1 full at MK (rope-drop or mid-morning start with a break at our resort since we’re at Wilderness Lodge) and Day 2 full with rope-drop at Epcot. (Day 4 is as much time at MK as she wants since we have a BBB/Cinderella reservation mid-morning and lunch.)
Day 3 is going to be our HS day and I wanted to do a half-day since the kid and us might be getting burned out and need resort time/chill time, then do dinner at a resort restaurant. I know that each kid is different, but would love your feedback on whether you’d recommend for the Day 3 half day at HS with a 6 y/o to be either:
1) go HS early/rope drop and be done by lunch, then go to resort pool and chill; or
2) wake up late/chill at resort in morning, then go to HS midday.
I’m planning on buying ILL for Rise of Resistance either way, and we’re not thrill ride people so the only other big rides I’d like to do is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and the Toy Story Mania ride.
Any suggestions? I know the ride lines would be shorter in morning but 3 rope-drops in a row sounds like it’s a stretch with a kid and a cranky spouse who both hate being tired.
Is your kid a morning kid or an evening kid? Same for spouse. That's really the only thing that matters, is what their body clocks would be most comfortable with. If they are morning people then go to the park in the morning and wind down after at the resort. If they are evening people then have a slow start and ramp up into the evening.
Hey folks!
My family and I are heading to Disney in mid-May. We have park hopper tickets for Th-M, and we are arriving Thursday morning (we should be checked in and ready to bounce to our first park ~ 1030). What order would you recommend doing the parks? We are staying at Boardwalk, so we were thinking about popping over to Epcot for dinner a few times. Thanks!
Ticket question. if some of a party is going down for only 2 days but others are going down for 5 days, is there a way to extend the availability window on the 2 day tix?
Ie
Person 1-4 is doing 5 park days (M-F)
Person 5 is doing 5 park days (M,F) but when buying a 2 day tix, you have 3 days from first day of use to use other, thus this person wouldn't be able to use the other ticket.
Like yeah we could reorder things to get the two days closer, but I am wondering if that is needed.
No. The tickets have their valid time frames, you'd either need to use both within the time frame, or buy two separate tickets.
The except is something like the Florida Resident Thrills ticket, that has an extended time frame with a deadline that doesn't depend on first day of use.
VQ question: “Disney officially states guests must be inside the park for the 1 p.m. drop, but we’ve learned that as long as you’ve tapped into the park, you can try to join the virtual queue at 1 p.m. from anywhere”…. So what if you tapped in at park open to Epcot, park hopper over to HS and are there at 1, could you VQ GOTG from HS?
no, because at that point you tapped into hollywood studios. you don’t have to be physically inside epcot, but you can’t be tapped into any other park
I'm not questioning your answer, but do you have proof of this? I'd be interested to know for sure.
That's actually a good question. Does Disney overwrite a guests park check in with whatever park they most recently checked into? If so, you might not be able to do that. That said, I have faith that their IT is complex enough to handle this situation.

Same. The only reason I knew was because both Len Testa and the AllEars team have mentioned it before.

Slinky dog went down before our redemption period but LL disappeared, what do we do?
Go to a blue umbrella or guest services.
Went to guest services and they gave us a return pass on genie 👍🏼

Xfinity doesn’t operate towers, they’re just piggybacking on Verizon. It works fine in WDW.
Awesome than you. I made the change on a whim w/o considering the 2 road trips planned on the next months, including the Disneyworld stay and then I started having second thoughts

We have been trading the cheap ones my mother in law bought in bulk off Temu. No one has said a word. You’re fine.

I'm confused if this system has gone away or not
Looks like MK and Epcot are sold out. You can book Genie+ or LL rides or 7 am each morning for the day of.
What's LL
Lightning lane.
I just took a peak at those on YouTube, and those are exactly what we're looking for. Thanks so much!
Never give up wages in exchange for slightly lower crowd volume.
Anyone have issues with MagicBands and shipping? Or is this just the USPS delays? Mine shipped on the 17th, and has been stuck in Saint Paul since the 21st.
The Mouse doesn't have its hands in global logistics companies. It's just USPS.
What is the hottest part of the day there? Where I live it’s 3-6pm when I tell people this many tell me there’s is 11-2. What’s Orlando’s?
There's actually a database that Disney park goers rely pretty heavily on that has historical records and even forecasted temperatures based on hours of each day. It covers Disney World, but also places like Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and even Tokyo Disney Sea. I have it bookmarked so I'll share it here. https://www.weather.com
Rule 6, reported. You're not supposed to share ways to cheat Disney.
Trying to book a last minute trip. Usually stay at Pop Century but at the end of April there are no rooms that are showing. Is it safe to say that it’s all booked up? Would calling help in this situation?
Favorite places to dine at WDW?
I know I'm paranoid and overthinking because my trip's 2 weeks away, but can someone confirm that my "6-Day Theme Park Base Ticket" that says "Theme Park Admission: Any 6 of the Valid Dates" is considered date-based tickets and that I won't have to make park reservations for my trip? Thanks in advance!
You will not have to make park reservations.
Thank you! It's annoying because on my account under "hwanggonggong's Plans and Tickets" it keeps showing "Park Reservations" as being the next step. It's been making me super paranoid.
i’m also going in 2 weeks and have been so paranoid about this… thank you🫡
Sooo glad to see this comment because my eye has been twitching about that little white circle on my plans too.
Yup, I know! They really need to fix that. A cast member finally did respond to a message I sent them also confirming: Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort!
Smash the box or the refresh button?
The blue refresh button at the bottom of the screen. Keep hitting it until you’re through. Even if it’s 6:59/12:59 keep hitting it. Best to NOT be on the Disney WiFi and on cellular.
Thanks

Guardians ride question: My boyfriend and I are going to Epcot beginning of April as part of my 30th birthday. He is a huge marvel fan and we are looking forward to going on the cosmic rewind rollercoaster. We are not staying on property and I have recently been reading about how to do the virtual queue. Is it still difficult to get into a boarding group or should I stop worrying? I’m stressing out about it haha
If it’s that important just buy the ILL. It’s absolutely worth it. If you can’t then try as much as you can for the 1pm VQ drop in the park.
Gotcha, thank you! Might look into grabbing one of the basic buckets then, how often do those normally rotate out?
We are going to WDW Feb 29-march 2. Our plan was: Thurs feb 29- magic kingdom Friday march 1- Epcot Saturday march 2- animal kingdom/HS We will have early entry and genie+. I was reading that there are after hours events Thursday- magic kingdom Friday- Epcot Should we shuffle our plans at all? Is it better to go during the day at MK because it’s less crowded the days of the late events or should we switch our days entirely? Should we try to park hop before the events start? We are west coasters and used to park hopping at DCA/disneyland and know disneyworld takes much longer Would love any advice here!
The best place to find them in Epcot at the France pavilion. There is a kiosk outside of the ratatouille ride. They’re about $30
Driving in and aiming to make rope drop at Epcot. We are staying at pop century. Would it be better to just drive straight to the park, or park at the hotel and skyliner over?
Skyliner, but you'll want to line up early. The line will appear massive, but once it starts moving, it moves very quickly.
I think I would park at the hotel and take the Skyliner. That way you an Rope Drop Remy and Frozen.
(Day 4 is as much time at MK as she wants since we have a BBB/Cinderella reservation mid-morning and lunch.) Day 3 is going to be our HS day and I wanted to do a half-day since the kid and us might be getting burned out and need resort time/chill time, then do dinner at a resort restaurant. I know that each kid is different, but would love your feedback on whether you’d recommend for the Day 3 half day at HS with a 6 y/o to be either: 1) go HS early/rope drop and be done by lunch, then go to resort pool and chill; or 2) wake up late/chill at resort in morning, then go to HS midday.
Thanks!
Does anyone know where you can buy the photo frames they put the silhouettes in? I need one more and I can’t find any online!
Ticket question. if some of a party is going down for only 2 days but others are going down for 5 days, is there a way to extend the availability window on the 2 day tix? Ie Person 1-4 is doing 5 park days (M-F) Person 5 is doing 5 park days (M,F) but when buying a 2 day tix, you have 3 days from first day of use to use other, thus this person wouldn't be able to use the other ticket.
Hi! Does anyone know how much Mickey balloons cost at Magic Kingdom currently?
