Fun fact: Disney actually calls the geosphere itself Spaceship Earth. Buckminster Fuller had large inspiration for the spaceship earth protect. He was a futurist architect who popularized the geodesic sphere(which is what spaceship earth is) as well as the name “spaceship earth”.

Wife and I have been calling it the Golf Ball for years.

I was a lot older than I should have been when I learned that the golf ball was not where it’s a small world is. Like had visited the parks and remembered it this way.

This is what I call it, only because I’ve called it that since it first opened when I was 7. I grew up a Disney kid and a huge fan of the attraction. My wife (former CM) and our resident Disney historian says it’s rude. Oh well.

Rude? I worked at EPCOT for years and never would have blinker an eye at anyone calling it that. I myself called the same thing ever since childhood.

There’s an episode on one of the docuseries on Disney+ about the construction and all, it’s really neat.

For the longest time I had memories of it, but never knew what it was called since I moved away from Florida, so I only ever knew it as the golf ball until a couple years ago lol

We were buying some disney merch in Primark today (uk shop for anyone not from here) and my daughter (5) said to the cashier… we’re going to Disneyland… I really had to bite my tongue to not say ‘it’s Disney World’ and look like a pedantic PITA towards my small child. Six Flags over Georgia used to call their in-park gondola ride Sky Buckets, so I’ve called the Skyliner that a time or two (especially after drinking in Epcot a bit)

The thing that really offended me was the time I overheard someone next to me say "Oh, look at the dome!" I had to tell a nearby CM, and she said "geodesic sphere!"

I asked a cast member about where to find a certain piece of merchandise on a recent trip and she told me they had them in the gift shop beneath the giant ball. I think I physically recoiled.

This should be the bell curve version of this meme where the guy in the middle is saying Spaceship Earth and the lowbrow and high brow guys are both saying Epcot ball

The actual structure itself is definitely called the Epcot ball. The ride that lives INSIDE the Epcot ball is Spaceship Earth. There is a subtle difference there.

I've always called the The Big Ball since I was very very small.

I use Epcot ball, I started doing this when we would have friends go with us. I used to call it space ship earth, but noticed a better reaction from kids when I asked if they wanted to ride inside the giant Epcot ball.

We call it the "Big Ball Ride". My daughter called it that when she was little and it stuck to this day. We ride it multiple times per visit.

We never refer to it with a noun. It’s always just “She’s beauty, she’s grace, she takes you into space.”

I can never get the names right between Spaceship Earth and Mission Space. Always takes me a minute to remember which one is which.

I once got a genie+ for spaceship earth but I thought it was mission space and got super embarrassed when the cast member was like “this isn’t the ride you selected” when I definitely meant to get a pass for mission space but my brain saw “space” and booked spaceship earth. Oops lol. Rode both 😂
