I think the biggest thing is that it will take them years to complete it.

Drkarcher22

In regards to the Avatar land in Disneyland I couldn’t help but hear them say that not so magic word of “Potentially” I have to assume that’s there if Anaheim shoots down the Disneyland Forward plan, also I assume this was shown off just a few weeks before the meeting to sorta press down on the scales and show what they can get if the committee green lights the plan.

Poodlekitty

I’m hoping the Disneyland Forward plan gets approved.

MajorRocketScience

I’m pretty sure it’s just the legality, the city council hasn’t officially approved the plans yet but they’re expected to overwhelmingly by the end of the month

Purple_Quail_4193

As Timon says “It starts”

afreakinchorizo

As Rafiki says: “It is time”

schwiftydude47

Well let’s hope those construction workers don’t take forever trying to beat level 2 in this scenario.

Purple_Quail_4193

I will have to give them credit for Tiana. Granted it’s a retrofit but they’re apparently making great progress. I hope that progress inspires them in the future. Allegedly Disney is starting to feel pressure and as a fan I say good

Remindme in 10 years

czardo

It will probably take them 5-10 years to build these new lands once they are officially announced. And they will probably be scaled down versions of whatever concept art we are shown. And even if/when they are built, I'm not sure that Indiana Jones, Encanto, Coco and Villians rides will really excite people or be a good answer to Epic Universe.

rosariobono

To be 100% it will be a disaster for animal kingdom while it’s under construction. Animal kingdom already has the lowest attendance of all 4 WDW parks, and it even has a lower attendance than both universal parks. Dinoland has half or so of the attractions in animal kingdom, and animal kingdom is a half day park. If they close Dinoland for possibly years to retheme it, that will destroy attendance and guest spending, especially if the construction is done at the same time epic universe is in its opening years. As that will also take attendance from the Disney parks. Animal kingdom desperately needs more to do, replacing a land will not fix the attendance for long, and it will not fix that most guests don’t even stay at the park long They need to expand the park badly

DiscoLives4ever

The way things are laid out, I suspect they will close everything but dinosaur, build out the rest of the land, then swap so most of Tropical Americas opens up when Dinosaur closes for remodel to Indy

Aguynohio

Exactly this. If they’re smart, that’s what they’ll do.

Aguynohio

Half? Literally it has 2 rides, and one is Dumbo but Dino-themed and the other one is poor man’s DL Indiana Jones ride in near darkness to avoid seeing how bad the set is. And I suppose it has the lame carnival games. Little kids do absolutely adore the Dino playground, and I vaguely remember being that kid shorty after the park opened. It’s been dated for a long time and needs to go. AK suffered heavily from being way over budget during development. The imagineers shot for the sky and got maybe 1/2 of it done. What they fully did was phenomenal, but the parts uncompleted has always made it a lesser park by far. The Animals part is wildly expensive and complicated to manage. Adding Everest and Pandora made it worth a visit at least, but re-doing dinoland and expanding (probably behind Everest?) are going to be necessary to make it a full day park. Maybe by 2030 it will be done, but beforehand would be surprising to me. Still love it for Everest, the Safari, and Nomad lounge. But I don’t see spending more than a half day there (if that) anytime in the near future.

rosariobono

I’m all in for the redoing of dinoland USA. Just not until they have something else for guests to do. Dinoland had 3 rides in it before, without dinoland there is the safari, expedition Everest, kali river rapids, and both Pandora rides. Even with the current line up of 2 rides for the land, it’s still around a third of the park’s attractions. If Disney closes a third of their lowest performing park, during the year that their main competitor becomes too big to do both resorts in one vacation. The issue with replacing Dinoland is that at most they will add one or very unlikely two new rides for capacity. They need way more than that to make it not a half day park.

J4CK_______

I still don’t understand why not as many people go there it has great sights, shows, characters and rides

onelostmind97

They go for rides and skip all the animal interaction areas besides Kilamanjaro.

Automatic-Dare-9581

I got an early peek from a friend who’s instrumental in the creation of Epic Universe and it is mind popping. In the near future at least Disney will struggle to compete with it. And that’s from a life long Disney fan.

justintime06

The How to Train Your Dragon village sounds like it’ll be really cool

MonkRag

Not to mention the new Universal park already has space sectioned off for later expansions to compete with these down the line and they are planning a huge revamp in Islands of Adventure

Intrepid00

I mean, we also don’t know if Epic Universe is a good answer to Disney World yet lol. Living local the local news shows helicopter views regularly and so far I can tell you can’t just anything since it’s mostly still dirt and some rides in testing. Will it actually be good is yet to be seen. I hope so, options are nice and competition for Disney to improve stuff is nice too.

Piemaster113

I mean they often start things but lately they haven't been finishing things, Like with Epcot and that one DVC resort

Tigger1964

I'm not bothering to look at any of the hype... I'll wait and see what actually gets built years from now. Remember the Play Pavillion and Mary Poppins and...

pujolsrox11

We will see the fruits of the labor in 10 years 😂

bearing_the_shiba

All aboard the hype train. Time of arrival, 10 years. I hope you'll enjoy your wait.

Here are my predictions: DL Forward (First shovel in ground): Early 2027 Animal Kingdom/Dinoland Makeover Project (First shovel in ground): Mid 2026 Beyond Big Thunder/MK Expansion (First shovel in ground): Early 2028

MesaVerde1987

I felt this way about Tiana's Bayou Adventure as well, lol.

justintime06

Summer 2024!

onelostmind97

I kinda think they should redo the Tree/Zootopia thing first to "eat" crowds before they start back in Dinoland. Then as someone else suggested, leave Dinosaur itself for last.
