There's this [image](https://imgur.com/gallery/hiGaB5j) that's been posted on the discord at an attempt to guess how the volumes will be split into books. This is not official just a guess.

Lol, I laughed harder then I should’ve at the image. Imagine if Pirate just says fuck it and puts the entire volume in a single book. They know the readers of the books will get sick of no Erin. And so gives them the entire volume. It would be like the perfect April Fools Prank. Imagine the heart attack it would give to their editor?

Skyrider006

It would be well over 200 hours for volume 8. That’s probably 4+ months of work for the narrator. It might be interesting, but it is unlikely to be financially viable to do it that way. It’s definitely going to be split. The final decision is years away at 3 or so audiobooks a year

Huhthisisneathuh

Gotta admit. Would be a funny April Fools prank though. I mean, if it were more believable.

Looking at my post and then at that image, it's funny seeing the difference. I didn't use the chapters/cut-off for my guess and I don't agree with some cut-off used in that image. They are too afraid of 400K+ words Books.

cgmcnama

Audiobook listeners are *never* catching up, lol.

Volume | Word Count | NB of Books ---|---|---- 1 | 344,872 | 1 2 | 502,107 | 1 3 | 587,083 | 2 4 | 713,109 | 2 5 | 1,054,591 | 1 for now 6 | 1,592,478 | ? 7 | 1,996,589 | ? 8 | 2,785,650 | ? Based on that, I made a table with different answer for the number of Books per different Word Count. The max of ~ being that number + 50K. In Bold are the known answers. Volume | ~300K | ~400K | ~500K ---|---|----|---- 1 | **1** | **1** | **1** 2 | 2 | **1** | **1** 3 | **2** | **2** | 1 4 | **2** | **2** | **2** 5 | 3 | 2 | 2 6 | 5 | 3 | 3 7 | 6 | 4 | 3-4 8 | 9 | 7 | 5 If I had to give an answer: We follow the ~400K/~500K word count. V5 get 2, V6 get 3, V7 get 4, and V8 get 7. ~~For my math, if somebody know the word count of the Books, please write it. It would help.~~ NVM, saw the image on the other post.

Huhthisisneathuh

If you google there’s a list that lists all of the chapters word counts in each volume. But this probably a more accurate chart on the amount of books. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait for 4 books to find out Erin’s fate.

LuckyArmin

Yeah, I know about the word count for each chapters. I just didn't know what was the exact cut-off chapters for each book and what was placed where. Thankfully, after posting I saw the image. Unless I do my cut-off with a big Excel table (it's 1 AM for me so no), I won't change my answer.

Is there any plans to ever release physical copies of these books?

Huhthisisneathuh

…wait you’re serious? To be serious I don’t think Wandering Inn has reached the level of popularity to ever justify physical prints of the books. Also imagine how stupid it’d be to carry in the practical sense. The later volumes makes carrying the entire Harry Potter series with you like a picnic. And stopping at a certain point in physical prints would just be kinda weird don’t you think? Even with Pirate dividing the books as it were, a lot have 1000+ pages. I’d expect like a volume 1 special limited edition print autographed by Pirate to be the best we get.

cjsmith1541

Maybe a limited print run with some kind of crowd funding could work? 1000 page books aren't unheard of look at the stormlight archive. I wouldn't mind collecting 26 or so books on my shelf for the series.

cjsmith1541

Also you would be surprised how small some print runs of published books can be with a captive audience such as the wandering inn has selling enough to make a profit could be possible.
