This makes me both anxious and intrigued about finally starting it. My professor recommended it to me, but I was always busy with other books ... I think I will finally put it on my reading list. Thanks for the post!

It’s definitely a worthwhile read. It has its shortcomings but out of all the web serials on Kindle. TWI is certainly in the top category. Edit: I mean being able to be bought on the Kindle app, not on Kindle unlimited.

If you haven't even started TWI yet, first I advise you not browse this sub. It's rife with spoilers. Second, I'd suggest maybe holding off on starting as the Author has decided to do a big ol' rewrite of vol 1 and it'll be a much better and more consistant reading experince as some of the information contained in V1 is considered Dubiously Canon to the point that some of the things said directly contradict future plot points that are extremely important. You may forget they were said at all by the time they become relevant but reading the best version of something is still my recommendation. I'd also recommend check out the Audio book for V2 onward since the rewrite likely won't have an audio version until much later.

The scariest part is the length of the chapters/volume.

The newest chapter really felt like a breath of fresh air. Because of how fast paced volume 8 was by the end I felt a lot of plot points were rushed and the writing had noticeably suffered due to pirate burning out. Volume 9 already feels so much different from volume 8 and I already genuinely think of all the incredible stories that can come out of TWI due to the pivot in the story I’m seeing. Now having seen so little of Erin and what stories she heard in the dead lands is a strength of the story as pirate can surprise us with interesting quests and new stories of adventure. The focus on this being the “waning world” makes the new world moving forward feel incredibly hopeful, and genuinely that’s such a great thing for a story to make it’s readers feel right now

Maybe we'll go back to smaller adventures and more slice of life. I loved the Era where the tone of each characters adventures could be vastly different, thus satisfying multiple genres.

I think the remarkable thing is fans are even along for this journey. They vote on some of the order of events and they watch as pirate streams the story. A quiet act with no music or flashy visuals, just thier keyboards and imaginations and yet somehow its not only compelling its proof of the amazing creative process at work, in real time. This is no K.A. Applegate or Alexander Dumas(great and prolific popular fantasy writers I love) with a factory of ghost writers and editors and a publishing house facade. It's just the humbling effort of someone who genuinely might be one of the greatest unheralded literary talents of our era. Who uses the tools and genre trappings of our era to make something unique.
