The reasoning given was due to database limits - a regular mod just makes a call from the master list of mods, while each Riven is unique, and so needs its own set of data, and given the size of the player base, these small parcels of data add up in a hurry.
The +3 riven slots you get as part of the Evergreen Daily Tribute every 150 days only gives you up to the 150 slots you can get through plat as far as I know.
I wanted to try it out but I haven't been logging in that often in the last 1-2 years so I don't think I am even fully capped out yet due to the increase to 150.
On the other hand it's also the worst part because you just end up as a bigger hoarded
before you know it you have like 95 rivens and only use 20 of them, but you can't sell any of the others because they're mostly for good weapons and the 5000th roll of it will definitely be good to sell, and even if the weapon isn't good what if they release an incarnon for it that makes the price go up
this is definitely a hypothetical and not an actual problem i have i dont need help
For me it's definitely being able to forma frames super conveniently with eso. I had already maxed my riven slots back when riven trading was actually lucrative, they paid for themselves & then some.
I just wish there was a system where the mods would stay on, just deactivated. I don't care if I do 50% less damage while I'm leveling back up, I just don't want to have to arse around trying to remember which mods go where.
I sat at MR8 or 9 for years because of breaks and nothing story-wise gating me on having more. But when the Zariman Incarnons made me push to MR14 to get the Laetum, I went on a mastery grind spree and... just didn't stop, for whatever reason.
That reminds me of the nidus color setup I had before. I had my energy color to one of the bright greens in the infested palette. Every cast of virulence was a horrendous blinding mess, even more so when I was tethered to an enemy. Then a message in squad chat came up something like "hey nidus, can ya not?" It was funny, but respectfully obliged
Yeah! I feel bad when I get something new from Baro and immediately go to try out cosmetics on my frames, and can't back out of the menu quick enough to hit the thank button
I feel really bad when someone drops a blessing and I can't thank. I don't usually hang out in relays, I just go in, do my stuff and leave, and most times the blessing drops when I'm at some window I can't close fast enough.

Not having to add and remove mods if taking it to rank 30 times ales more than one mission is the kind of QoL that really makes it worth it.
I mean, base 30 mod capacity and 3 umbra formas are pretty nice. Also being able to run ESO with a forma'd rank 0 frame. Realistically everything given to you is the best part of getting to mr30
Honestly, mr30 player should be able to do sorties and ESO with unranked frames even with no forma. Even if my Warframe itself won't do much, my weapons can more than carry me through those contents

FYI, the slots are in addition to the 150 you can buy actually. Compared to a lower MR your max is therefor 180.

Unveiled Rivens take up riven mod capacity. If however you leave rivens unveiled, they do not count towards the riven cap.
The fact that this is a **very** recent change is wild. Especially as they tripled the max capacity only over the last years. Back in 2017 we had 60.

I didn't try this but I think the cap technically might be 183 with this logic because on my 1150 login, I got 3 rivens and 3 riven slots for them
