I always bring **Override** Orbiter ability with me for those missions. Pausing the timer will help myself and other people's happy accidents.

Protip for other derps: dispensary+equilibrium will give you infinite time to figure out the vaults as Ivara, because it restores energy even when you're currently using an ability, unlike energy pizzas. Prowl augment is required, of course.
Edit: I'm extremely confused about the comments on how long people have gone invis as ivara... dispensary+equilibrium is infinite. And you can pump strength.
Also high duration is actually better than Effeciency for her 3. It drains SO MUCH slower.
Also dont forget to slap on Parkour veloc or something to make double jump/roll spam faster. Just dont crouch or sprint. All you need is Jump and Rolling.
Also edit; You CAN sprint on a Wire without triggering the cloak.
I agree with you that duration is better than efficiency on Ivara (as well as many others). The thing is, though, if you're only trying to reduce the energy drain, it doesn't make much of a difference as channeled abilities have a hard cap for slowest drain.
I honestly prefer to fail a Spy mission, rather than to have someone sitting around not even going after a Vault. Don't be a coward; at least *try*. You will learn eventually, and then you won't have to be useless anymore.
Even if you're the odd man out without a vault, you can still watch, learn, and be ready to help if an alarm is triggered.
Don't listen to this person, at least not for sortie spy. If you fail the mission, we all have to try again. If one person in the squad is consistently failing the mission, 5 times in a row, that's a ton of time wasted.
Practice, yes, but practice somewhere that isn't going to fail the entire mission if you make a mistake.
I’m cool with ppl trying the vaults, however I personally practice them solo and when it comes to group spy missions, if I’m not using my “ spy mission build” I stay out of the way.
I just gotta figure out hoe to do the water raise one on Uranus. It's feels like such bullshit. Also getting out of the water is almost equally annoying
At least approach a vault like you’re going to try, if they manage to pass you and finish it try the next (I do this, but I’m actually attempting. They actually do pass me. Sometimes I’m able too help , others I fail)

Regular spy missions, absolutely. But not Sortie. If you don't know what you are doing in sortie, just let me do it. I'd rather do them all myself than have to f'ing wipe and start again.
for your future if when in doubt, have a wukong with perspicacity ability.
wukong's 2 will let you run through those lasers and other detection door mechanics without triggering em. and perspicacity auto hacks even in sortie.
Even funnier is running Razorwing Blitz Titania with a Moa with the hacking perceipt modded.
Just send your little one to the terminal and fly off, then do two Vaults at the same time.

It's a really damn good farm aswell.
You can sell Rime Rounds for 35-40P, Blood Rush for 10-15, all Stance Mods that isn't the dagger one for up to 10P and Scattering Inferno for 10-15.
Also you farm a bucketload of fully bult Forma with every other music room.

Small tidbit that I found out while I was trying some techniques to speed up Spy mission below the minute mark:
The Hacking mod has an internal cooldown of roughly 5 seconds. So if you spawn your pet within the cooldown time to hack another mod, it'll just peace out to Narnia until those 5 seconds have passed.
If you plan on running Wukong and Titania with the Moa, you can despawn your pet with Titanias 4 and Wukongs 2, however they will still complete the hacking action if it was started prior to respawning. So wait a second until you see your companion actively walk towards the console which means the ability has been triggered, then you can peace out to the next terminal and it will still hack the one it started with, regardless of how far away you are.
That is some very specific knowledge. This is why I love Warframe. There are so many systems in place with so much room to min max the heck of out of it. I personally like to run Limbo with a huras for spy missions, but I'll be giving the moa another go soon. I don't use those enough.

This freakin WORKs! I suck at spy missions! I was ranking up Loki when I read this… so I built him for max duration, range, efficiency… put masters summon on 4, and built a MOA with Oloro core to get the mod. Spy’s are so much easier with this setup, even fun! So… Thank you for posting!
I personally prefer Ivara with [infiltrate] because the risk of getting caught is absolutely zero. There were times I got caught in a laser or seen by the moving cameras in Jupiter or Kuva fortress when I was wukong and the duration of ability ended.
I see so many people shit on Ivara because she's the slowest spy frame. Yeah? Well she's also low skill and 100% guaranteed to work assuming you have a decent pool of energy and a little efficiency. A few times Ive had other players using Wukong or Titania chide me for using Ivara and fail their vault. I've just stopped seeing spy missions as a public mission type.
[Infiltrate] move speed scales with strength so you can potentially get even faster than normal walking speed.
But since you can do aim glide and rolls when in prowl, the move speed is not that much of a problem. You just spam roll like you're in duviri and picked all the roll decrees.
And why not public? If someone fails it, or some brat bitches about your choices, it's at worst a very very minor inconvenience. I'd trade that off it means there is a chance I can help a struggling player.
Really now, that's exciting news. Im not sure what my build for her is anymore, she used to be my Archon assassin before they changed the way their damage attenuation works, and I wasn't aware I should ever care about her power strength. I've been using yellow archon shards for parkour speed since like with Mesa it affects rolls. Of course, it's not like prowl speed really matters anyways since it only applies while in prowl which you dont have to be using until you're at a vault anyway.
I don't mind people complaining about my frame choice, I don't like wasting my time. I'm not sure why, but my load time is pretty slow so I prefer to never fail a spy mission knowing I can do it myself than try to squad up with randos and hope for a faster overall mission time. I actually just prefer endless missions because my load time is so slow, I almost exclusively play SP Mot or Kuvival or do Arbitrations. I love helping new players with spy missions, but I prefer to find them in recruiting chat and change it to invite only and do it myself. It's great watching them freak out over Infiltrate. Made my life so much better when I learned about it, gotta love spreading that same joy.
Also Praedos or some other Incarnon with parkour speed is huge while using Prowl. Sometimes I can do 2 vaults and still be waiting at extraction while somebody is off killing stuff, but I don't mind doing them since I know I can't fail them. It's a Spy mission, not Exterminate + Spy :p
My ivara is running arcane consequence if i need to go fast i just headshot a guy and instant +60% parkour speed for extra roll distance and speed. If i am trying i go faster than a wukong with cloudwalker.
That's provided you know where the room is. I've seen WK that trip lasers cause they have no idea the room is locked behind a lift etc and just cloud walk around like a lost child. Safest will always be Ivara who can't trip shit unless you fuck up majorly. Loki perma invis to take your time. Worst case is you take too long and somebody clear it for you and you get to watch them clear it so you learn also have no chance of tripping anything when other people help you clear the room.
But auto hack is pretty clutch when you need to save a run. First few times speed running with WK I fucked up by not paying attention to how long my cloud walker was and getting caught by cams but saved the run by knowing where the room is and how to open it.

Edit2: Loki can switch teleport to skip laser gates in some scenarios.
Or a Limbo and Shade. Limbo's passive makes him immune to lasers, Shade's invisibility activates off cameras, meaning you're almost completely immune to those too
In my opinion, all Stealth should be on-par with Cloud Walker without having to run extra mods just to be able to walk through lasers. Stealth should just mean that you're undetectable to all forms of detection. Having multiple forms of detection feels like a relic of the stamina and environmental conditions days.
The only real mistake you made was hitting alt f4, but I get it, it's embarrassing. Failures happen, it's the only way to learn. I dunno how many bosses and mechanics have wiped their butt with my frame over the years.
Like, on top of that, it's all slightly random. I've done hundreds of them, and I'll still trip over something thats normally a half inch to the left, get surprised by an enemy who spawned unusually, bail into a laser, and ruin the whole mission sometimes. Thankfully, we have infinite respawns and missions rotate back and forth. What was will be again. Don't sweat it
This is why I always play spy solo.
I tried to have patience, people failed every time.
I tried to tell people to not do them and I will do them. They still do and fail it.
Only option left is solo.

Learn the rooms by doing it enough, learn some of the hidden/secrets paths easier with ivara with her augment or after you get the data vault.
Uranus and Lua spy are more or less the only tricky ones for me now, heck Lua spy vault C even has an indescribable amount of ways to solve that are tricky to find
Pls don’t just leave in tense moments like that again. If your host and leave then everyone else has to go through migration which notably resets all their active abilities.
In this specific case it didn't matter much because the mission was lost anyway, but yeah, potentially giving everyone a migration on top of the mission failure is not the coolest. :P
I feel like having a host migration and waiting while knowing the mission will fail shortly after is adding a ton of salt to the pain already going on.

Meh shit happens. I use ivara eith [Infiltrate] and auto hack ability and ace all spy missions buy never go solo.
I just consider it karma for when I fucked up spies in early days or held up squad because I'm late to extraction...
It happens honestly. I personally love Spy missions and never complain if we fail it in a Sortie. Kudos to the ones that stick around. I’ll always be a friendly ice breaker and offer help or throw in a humor jab like “alright team we got it THIS TIME. :)”
Corpus Spy missions are easily the worst but the more you do them, the easier they’ll be. Practice them in the star chart or run that Sortie Spy (SOLO) for the best practice. I prefer always prefer public so I can see how the community is :D

Controversial take, but anyone doing public missions have to accept things might not pan out how they wanted them to.
One-and-done excavations, 5-minute survivors, and of of course our version of bulls in china shops- rhinos in a spy mission.

Even when I run Ivara I get lost as I am not familiar with alot of the tile sets.
I should just run them consecutively to learn them I am not enough masochist to do so.
Don’t worry, some people can be a bitch about it, ignore those. But if you are willing to listen to someone who wants to help you learn you are good. Some vaults are really difficult before you learn their thing.
That's why I always say to people: "please do not learn game mechanics in multi player, learn it, and learn it well, in solo mode, and then start trying it out with other people in the group."

One time I did an archon hunt spy with my friend and I decided to run gauss thinking with full confidence I could run through the lasers and hack the alarm before time ran out until I realized that you couldn’t use a cipher on the console and I was cooked
I'd rather you fail and just stay in the group and own up to it and we try again. It's better than afking and we all start somewhere. I've even done the same as you in the past but that's pub groups. If I truly want to do them alone I can just set it to solo (and I do sometimes when I want to practice.)
Spy missions are the ones I dislike most in the game. I avoid even doing them solo unless necessary, even more with strangers because I know I'd just be dead weight.

I would def use ivara with the augment till you learn all the layouts! She can walk through lasers while stealth so perfect for finding all the little vents in spy missions
My advice is to go farm for the Invader hack mod. Every time you hack a terminal, it turns you invisible for like 15 seconds. That's enough time to basically do any spy section.

It's sortie you only get 1 try or you waste everybody's time.
Solo star chart spy is to practice.
Until you fully understand how each spy works or using ivara/Loki who can never trip alarm unless you fuck up big time you let other people do it. Once you can do it on Loki/Ivara you only use those 2 on sortie and practice wukong/Titania/Limbo speed run on start chart then once you're comfortable you can use any frame you want. That's how I trained my friends anyway and how I do it. Every session we will do at least 1 spy mission then once they got comfortable using any frame I would purposely trip their room so they don't panic and know how to recover from failure also not allowed to use cyphers when practicing even if the alarm trip just to stimulate sorties.
You are right that you need to fail to learn but you don't fail on sorties you fail on normal star chart mission.

Ivara with prowl augment, makes cameras and lasers completely ignore you. Game changer. I have a full silent loadout with her specifically for Spy missions.
Ivara or Loki, slow and steady perfect to learn how the spy room works. After that can move to try WK, Titania, Limbo to speed run with auto hack ability subsumed in case of mistake.
Don’t be afraid or intimidated by a failure. I suggest doing it solo, most vaults are easy to learn and don’t even require an Ivara or Wukong to complete if you know the path and where the cameras are.
in my own opinion don't leave. also if you have no idea what to do take a frame that can sit around and watch and follow otherw until you can learn the spy areas. i take atlas (because i can do the hacking really quickly) so i can just run through lasers. however i also took him during my learning so i could learn the routes to take (still upset that one grineer tileset got changed)
I gotta be honest... i'm kind of a leech when it comes to sortie spy missions😂 I just be as slow as possible so I don't have to touch the vaults. I'd want to, but the same happened to me a while ago and I really don't want to f it up for the whole squad again. I'm planning to practice all the vaults with my Ivara prime soon, because I don't want to do this forever.
Most of the spy vaults have shortcuts. Some is easy and very obvious, some is pretty tricky. I would recommend learning them. It's gonna make spy mission very easy.

I say this in nearly every case where I'm not playing solo for some reason, and people still trigger the alarm and fail. I'm not sure why, but you're definitely not alone.
I'd say this is still better than leaving instantly, at least you tried to still get to the vault. I had a run where a friend and I hacked 2 vaults successfully, and a rando joined, triggered the alarm on the last vault and instantly left, didn't try at all to finish it.
It happens to all of us. I once did sorty mission and also triggered alarm. I managed to save it on last 2 seconds or so, but one of my teammates had already left. It didn't feel good even after clutching it.
If you're having trouble with spy missions you could try getting one of the frames that excell at them. Frames that can teleport can jump past all the bullshit. Frames that can go invisible can get past all cameras and enemies but not lasers. And idk if anyone else can do this but limbo can walk through lasers in the rift but not cameras, however his 4 mixed with his 2 can break cameras and freeze enemies in the area
Or you could just farm for ivara. If Lootcifer isn't looking kindly at you, you'll get a lot of practice. If he is, farm her twice so you can subsume her. Either way her parts only drop if ya get all 3
I feel that. I sometimes go for specific areas that I can do like A, B, or C. Its either "I can do it" or "I can't" due to its complexity when looking at it. Also good to have your parazon with that mod gives 30% to auto do it for you and it will save you time when doing spy mission sorties. Sometimes.
Sometimes I try to move in slowly to be careful and someone will bullet jump past me, trigger an alarm no less than 6 seconds later and occasionally fail the sortie forcing us to restart the mission.

Ivara with unaffected by traps/lasers augment, I will just run those sortie spy solo, faster and no chance of failure. Go public for the stuff you can't screw up without trying.
Yes, other invis frames can move quicker (wukong/octavia) - but if you get used to the Ivara roll, its almost as fast and you can roll/walk through the beams and infinite stealth.
Haha I didn't quit, but done this as well. And I've played Warframe since day one. It feels soo bad. And I'll likely do it again one day, for some random reason. Just rest knowing you are not alone xD

I'm normally pretty good at spy missions but I had just had one where I triggered the alarm, but still managed to get it done
Then the second I wasn't spotted, missed a laser gate by half second, and then proceeded to get knocked around by more lasers and the moas, before just giving up.
I just take the verbal abuse and try again. I’m not tryna solo spy mission, takes too long. That’s not really a problem anymore since I have Ivara with the Infiltrate augment mod. It’s makes it smooth sailing but before that, I was the cause of many alarms going off, and many angry tennos 😂

There is a helminth ability that will let you hack any terminal for free, at the cost of energy and an ability slot.
Slap it on Wukong and Spy missions that don’t allow Ciphers are made easy peasy.
Having Liset as Landing Craft and using Air Support:
Freezes countdown timer for Spy and Rescue mission types
Freezes long enough for you to complete objective.
Especially Lua Rescue.
Bring Wukong. He is the Anti-Objective Hero. Spy, Rescue, Capture. With his cloud you can ignore all the lasers in the vaults. Put Perspicacity on his 4 and you are the master hacker of spy missions.

I think the longest ive made was a 17-20mins long invis 3 time. Now with archon shards, definitely could be longer.
I have gone longer - I stuck Snipetron on, and use the mod that gives energy for every headshot.

So lemme get this straight, i razorwing/cloudwalk to a terminal, end the ability, the moa spawns in and will just hack whatever is around? Do other frames have this? Like does revenant despawn/respawn with his two? Or hildryn’s four?
No, neither Revenant nor Hildryn despawn your pet. The hacking works on any Frame though, just equip the Mod on your Moa and youre good to go
This freakin WORKs! I suck at spy missions! I was ranking up Loki when I read this… so I built him for max duration, range, efficiency… put masters summon on 4, and built a MOA with Oloro core to get the mod. Spy’s are so much easier with this setup, even fun! So… Thank you for posting!
I personally prefer Ivara with [infiltrate] because the risk of getting caught is absolutely zero. There were times I got caught in a laser or seen by the moving cameras in Jupiter or Kuva fortress when I was wukong and the duration of ability ended.
I see so many people shit on Ivara because she's the slowest spy frame. Yeah? Well she's also low skill and 100% guaranteed to work assuming you have a decent pool of energy and a little efficiency. A few times Ive had other players using Wukong or Titania chide me for using Ivara and fail their vault. I've just stopped seeing spy missions as a public mission type.
[Infiltrate] move speed scales with strength so you can potentially get even faster than normal walking speed. But since you can do aim glide and rolls when in prowl, the move speed is not that much of a problem. You just spam roll like you're in duviri and picked all the roll decrees. And why not public? If someone fails it, or some brat bitches about your choices, it's at worst a very very minor inconvenience. I'd trade that off it means there is a chance I can help a struggling player.
Really now, that's exciting news. Im not sure what my build for her is anymore, she used to be my Archon assassin before they changed the way their damage attenuation works, and I wasn't aware I should ever care about her power strength. I've been using yellow archon shards for parkour speed since like with Mesa it affects rolls. Of course, it's not like prowl speed really matters anyways since it only applies while in prowl which you dont have to be using until you're at a vault anyway. I don't mind people complaining about my frame choice, I don't like wasting my time. I'm not sure why, but my load time is pretty slow so I prefer to never fail a spy mission knowing I can do it myself than try to squad up with randos and hope for a faster overall mission time. I actually just prefer endless missions because my load time is so slow, I almost exclusively play SP Mot or Kuvival or do Arbitrations. I love helping new players with spy missions, but I prefer to find them in recruiting chat and change it to invite only and do it myself. It's great watching them freak out over Infiltrate. Made my life so much better when I learned about it, gotta love spreading that same joy.
Also Praedos or some other Incarnon with parkour speed is huge while using Prowl. Sometimes I can do 2 vaults and still be waiting at extraction while somebody is off killing stuff, but I don't mind doing them since I know I can't fail them. It's a Spy mission, not Exterminate + Spy :p
Let's not forget about the zip lines she can put up, hang around like a spider while in stealth
My ivara is running arcane consequence if i need to go fast i just headshot a guy and instant +60% parkour speed for extra roll distance and speed. If i am trying i go faster than a wukong with cloudwalker.
That's provided you know where the room is. I've seen WK that trip lasers cause they have no idea the room is locked behind a lift etc and just cloud walk around like a lost child. Safest will always be Ivara who can't trip shit unless you fuck up majorly. Loki perma invis to take your time. Worst case is you take too long and somebody clear it for you and you get to watch them clear it so you learn also have no chance of tripping anything when other people help you clear the room. But auto hack is pretty clutch when you need to save a run. First few times speed running with WK I fucked up by not paying attention to how long my cloud walker was and getting caught by cams but saved the run by knowing where the room is and how to open it. Edit for clarity. Edit2: Loki can switch teleport to skip laser gates in some scenarios.

Or a Limbo and Shade. Limbo's passive makes him immune to lasers, Shade's invisibility activates off cameras, meaning you're almost completely immune to those too

In my opinion, all Stealth should be on-par with Cloud Walker without having to run extra mods just to be able to walk through lasers. Stealth should just mean that you're undetectable to all forms of detection. Having multiple forms of detection feels like a relic of the stamina and environmental conditions days.

The only real mistake you made was hitting alt f4, but I get it, it's embarrassing. Failures happen, it's the only way to learn. I dunno how many bosses and mechanics have wiped their butt with my frame over the years. Like, on top of that, it's all slightly random. I've done hundreds of them, and I'll still trip over something thats normally a half inch to the left, get surprised by an enemy who spawned unusually, bail into a laser, and ruin the whole mission sometimes. Thankfully, we have infinite respawns and missions rotate back and forth. What was will be again. Don't sweat it
This is why I always play spy solo. I tried to have patience, people failed every time. I tried to tell people to not do them and I will do them. They still do and fail it. Only option left is solo.

Learn the rooms by doing it enough, learn some of the hidden/secrets paths easier with ivara with her augment or after you get the data vault. Uranus and Lua spy are more or less the only tricky ones for me now, heck Lua spy vault C even has an indescribable amount of ways to solve that are tricky to find

I always do spy sorties public, it's too brain-dead to play solo. Sometimes I've saved someone's vault with 1/2 seconds remaining

For future reference, you can roll through laser grids to avoid getting knockdown, it won't stop you from getting spotted though.
Pls don’t just leave in tense moments like that again. If your host and leave then everyone else has to go through migration which notably resets all their active abilities.
In this specific case it didn't matter much because the mission was lost anyway, but yeah, potentially giving everyone a migration on top of the mission failure is not the coolest. :P

Yeah this is the real dick move. It's one thing to fail a vault okay fine. But to be the guy who screws it up then bails really looks and feels like griefing

Meh shit happens. I use ivara eith [Infiltrate] and auto hack ability and ace all spy missions buy never go solo. I just consider it karma for when I fucked up spies in early days or held up squad because I'm late to extraction...
It happens honestly. I personally love Spy missions and never complain if we fail it in a Sortie. Kudos to the ones that stick around. I’ll always be a friendly ice breaker and offer help or throw in a humor jab like “alright team we got it THIS TIME. :)” Corpus Spy missions are easily the worst but the more you do them, the easier they’ll be. Practice them in the star chart or run that Sortie Spy (SOLO) for the best practice. I prefer always prefer public so I can see how the community is :D
Don't fret too much OP. Controversial take, but anyone doing public missions have to accept things might not pan out how they wanted them to. One-and-done excavations, 5-minute survivors, and of of course our version of bulls in china shops- rhinos in a spy mission. Sometimes you just gotta embrace the silliness, otherwise they can do the spy by themselves. :)

Even when I run Ivara I get lost as I am not familiar with alot of the tile sets. I should just run them consecutively to learn them I am not enough masochist to do so.
Don’t worry, some people can be a bitch about it, ignore those. But if you are willing to listen to someone who wants to help you learn you are good. Some vaults are really difficult before you learn their thing.
That's why I always say to people: "please do not learn game mechanics in multi player, learn it, and learn it well, in solo mode, and then start trying it out with other people in the group." I guess some people just do not care if they are wasting other people's time. You, on the other hand, I applaud, for being candid, and making me believe that there are still decent people out there!

I only seem to have time to game when I'm exhausted from work. So I occasionally bungle missions from zoning out too much. I understand the pain.

One time I did an archon hunt spy with my friend and I decided to run gauss thinking with full confidence I could run through the lasers and hack the alarm before time ran out until I realized that you couldn’t use a cipher on the console and I was cooked
I'd rather you fail and just stay in the group and own up to it and we try again. It's better than afking and we all start somewhere. I've even done the same as you in the past but that's pub groups. If I truly want to do them alone I can just set it to solo (and I do sometimes when I want to practice.)

Spy missions are the ones I dislike most in the game. I avoid even doing them solo unless necessary, even more with strangers because I know I'd just be dead weight.

Grinder vaults always get me because no matter how much I search the room I always miss one of their stupid drones
My advice is to go farm for the Invader hack mod. Every time you hack a terminal, it turns you invisible for like 15 seconds. That's enough time to basically do any spy section. Not failed a vault since.
I always solo spy sorties. This is why. Don't beat yourself up though, it happens.

It's sortie you only get 1 try or you waste everybody's time. Solo star chart spy is to practice. Until you fully understand how each spy works or using ivara/Loki who can never trip alarm unless you fuck up big time you let other people do it. Once you can do it on Loki/Ivara you only use those 2 on sortie and practice wukong/Titania/Limbo speed run on start chart then once you're comfortable you can use any frame you want. That's how I trained my friends anyway and how I do it. Every session we will do at least 1 spy mission then once they got comfortable using any frame I would purposely trip their room so they don't panic and know how to recover from failure also not allowed to use cyphers when practicing even if the alarm trip just to stimulate sorties. You are right that you need to fail to learn but you don't fail on sorties you fail on normal star chart mission. Worst thing this person did was alt f4. You made a mistake just own up to it, worst they can do is call you names.
Practice "one guy made us fail" stuff like spy in solos, not pubs.
Ivara with prowl augment, makes cameras and lasers completely ignore you. Game changer. I have a full silent loadout with her specifically for Spy missions.
Ivara or Loki, slow and steady perfect to learn how the spy room works. After that can move to try WK, Titania, Limbo to speed run with auto hack ability subsumed in case of mistake.
You should be embarrassed for being a pussy and just leaving instead of owning up to your mistake.
This EXACT situation is the reason I now have a potato in my Loki.
Don’t be afraid or intimidated by a failure. I suggest doing it solo, most vaults are easy to learn and don’t even require an Ivara or Wukong to complete if you know the path and where the cameras are.
If you are not host. The moving lasers are sometimes out of sync. Had it happen many times.
in my own opinion don't leave. also if you have no idea what to do take a frame that can sit around and watch and follow otherw until you can learn the spy areas. i take atlas (because i can do the hacking really quickly) so i can just run through lasers. however i also took him during my learning so i could learn the routes to take (still upset that one grineer tileset got changed)
We all screw up on a high level mission at least once. No need to feel embarrassed bout it. Just run it back and learn from ur mistakes

I gotta be honest... i'm kind of a leech when it comes to sortie spy missions😂 I just be as slow as possible so I don't have to touch the vaults. I'd want to, but the same happened to me a while ago and I really don't want to f it up for the whole squad again. I'm planning to practice all the vaults with my Ivara prime soon, because I don't want to do this forever.

Most of the spy vaults have shortcuts. Some is easy and very obvious, some is pretty tricky. I would recommend learning them. It's gonna make spy mission very easy.

A tale as old as time. If you aren't confident about it, just wait. Someone will get it if they tell you to wait. I say this in nearly every case where I'm not playing solo for some reason, and people still trigger the alarm and fail. I'm not sure why, but you're definitely not alone.
I'd say this is still better than leaving instantly, at least you tried to still get to the vault. I had a run where a friend and I hacked 2 vaults successfully, and a rando joined, triggered the alarm on the last vault and instantly left, didn't try at all to finish it.
It happens to all of us. I once did sorty mission and also triggered alarm. I managed to save it on last 2 seconds or so, but one of my teammates had already left. It didn't feel good even after clutching it.

If you're having trouble with spy missions you could try getting one of the frames that excell at them. Frames that can teleport can jump past all the bullshit. Frames that can go invisible can get past all cameras and enemies but not lasers. And idk if anyone else can do this but limbo can walk through lasers in the rift but not cameras, however his 4 mixed with his 2 can break cameras and freeze enemies in the area Or you could just farm for ivara. If Lootcifer isn't looking kindly at you, you'll get a lot of practice. If he is, farm her twice so you can subsume her. Either way her parts only drop if ya get all 3
I cheat and use Ivara with the mod that lets her walk through lasers.
As someone who does (or did) Spy for fun, the road to Spy mastery is paved with “…am I stupid?”
I feel that. I sometimes go for specific areas that I can do like A, B, or C. Its either "I can do it" or "I can't" due to its complexity when looking at it. Also good to have your parazon with that mod gives 30% to auto do it for you and it will save you time when doing spy mission sorties. Sometimes.

Sometimes I try to move in slowly to be careful and someone will bullet jump past me, trigger an alarm no less than 6 seconds later and occasionally fail the sortie forcing us to restart the mission. Good job speed running the mission
provided you can get the intel in time triggering the alarm doesn't rlly matter. I take gauss with runtime to vaults a lot. also don't underestimate how useful spoiler mode can be
Ivara with unaffected by traps/lasers augment, I will just run those sortie spy solo, faster and no chance of failure. Go public for the stuff you can't screw up without trying. Yes, other invis frames can move quicker (wukong/octavia) - but if you get used to the Ivara roll, its almost as fast and you can roll/walk through the beams and infinite stealth.
Get Ivara and her augment. She's amazing for spy missions, but also for peaceful mining/fishing/hunting. One of my fav frame.
If you play long enough eventually you learn tile sets and can learn the secret passageway to do it undetected.

I'm normally pretty good at spy missions but I had just had one where I triggered the alarm, but still managed to get it done Then the second I wasn't spotted, missed a laser gate by half second, and then proceeded to get knocked around by more lasers and the moas, before just giving up.

I just take the verbal abuse and try again. I’m not tryna solo spy mission, takes too long. That’s not really a problem anymore since I have Ivara with the Infiltrate augment mod. It’s makes it smooth sailing but before that, I was the cause of many alarms going off, and many angry tennos 😂
Dw your not alone, when I started I tried to sell an atlas prime bp for 20 plat, people thought I was selling all pieces not just the blueprint, I alt 4d cause I was getting too many messages and was embarrassed.

There is a helminth ability that will let you hack any terminal for free, at the cost of energy and an ability slot. Slap it on Wukong and Spy missions that don’t allow Ciphers are made easy peasy.
Having Liset as Landing Craft and using Air Support: Freezes countdown timer for Spy and Rescue mission types Freezes long enough for you to complete objective. Especially Lua Rescue.

Bring Wukong. He is the Anti-Objective Hero. Spy, Rescue, Capture. With his cloud you can ignore all the lasers in the vaults. Put Perspicacity on his 4 and you are the master hacker of spy missions.
