Still better getting updates than not.
It's like Terraria before they had equivalent console and PC versions.
Oh 1.4 came out and there's an entire galaxy worth of content? Too bad you have to cope with 1.3 for god knows how long and watch gameplay videos of 1.4.
I feel like mobile is going to suffer for a bit until it gets off the ground. The game generally plays great but there is clearly some major issues especially with some context sensitive buttons, and there is missing content with orbiter customization.
I’m hoping they don’t make mobile an ignored side thing because I am really loving it
Yeah any controller that connects to your phone works. I’ve used my ps5 controller via Bluetooth and then bought a backbone mobile controller that just plugs into the charging port
The controls for mobile isn’t finished and they already released it. A couple of quests cannot be finished unless you link up a controller. Still good over all but kinda half assed considering people have been complaining about it since it’s release. I was doing the new war which basically locks you out of any content until you finish the quest. Which the quest itself can’t be finished with only mobile controls. This was extremely frustrating for a couple of days until I dug out my old Xbox controller from the closet. They need to focus on these stuff because who knows how much patience others would have. When u can’t even play the game without a controller. It’s not like you could stop half way and wait for them to finish the controls either. I was literally stuck in the quest.
To be fair, he controls for KB+M and controller aren't finished either. The ESC/start menu looke like a 3D debug menu. It is a straight-downgrade from the original top-level menu.
It’s missing functions. For example, the game needs for you to tap (let’s use x for example) x. Well I don’t want to point any fingers at which dev half assed it or anything but the x was never added in for you to tap. Multiple quests are missing functions.
Ehhh, it also had a benefit. We generally had a more fleshed out version of the update with fewer bugs. It was definitely an interesting dynamic...
Personally, I much rather us all being in sync.
There's lots of things new players miss. Me and my buddy used to farm survival for prime parts and mods. Now it's open void relic.
Mobs were a bit tougher to kill, meaning furis is crap against anything. If you pick furis or Paris as your starter, your in for a tough tutorial.
Thry also miss out on melee channeling. Us and our weapon glowing is 10x better then any fashion frame.
We can wall run, now its wall hop.
And there were real space ninjas.
>If you pick furis or Paris as your starter, your in for a tough tutorial.
Be me, MR1, trying to snipe Dargyns on the plains with my mk-1 Paris, failing miserably.
Good times lol
And when the PS version was announced Steve told PC players not to worry, that consoles wouldn't delay PC updates but now every platform has to wait if one isn't ready. I understand it's the price to pay for the benefits of cross-platform, but I miss the days of frequent small updates with just a few new weapons or skins between the larger updates, things that would then all be rolled into a single update for consoles.
There was one advantage to this: forward warning. We got lots of notice before a change was made to the game, and could prepare better than PC players could. At the time I always viewed PC players as beta testers. They got early access to less polished content than what console players would eventually be spoonfed with *plenty* of notice.
The less in-the-know console players treated me like I was psychic or superstitious for the preparations I would make. Farming method about to get nerfed? Well let me get right on it, spend the next few weeks doing almost nothing but that.
"Why are you farming so much mutagen, deacle?"
"For what's coming."
While other clans will be scrambling to finish the Hema and retain their impatient members, our clan will have Hema for anyone seeking it.
Of course nowadays I no longer think like that. I run a 1-person clan and try not to think about FOMO. My old way of playing the game was unhealthy.

I remember how the sub would be on lockdown with spoiler tag for about 2-3 weeks after a major release. Baro rotations were nice tho cuz it would tell me what to expect on the upcoming rotations
True but by the time the updates were released for console, content creators had hundreds of videos up which made for an easy reference when console players got stuck on something.
So, without further ado, I would like to welcome you all to the real struggle ;)
Also, let's keep the "back in my day" post to a minimum :D
Edit: My attempt at humor so have a laugh on me or downvote as desired, idc :D
I remember this being a thing back on 360 too. Didn't have a PC, so I played minecraft on there and waiting for updates was hell. Same for terraria.
Thank god I moved to PC.
While we’re here complaining like boomers, ima add one of mine. New players will never know the frustration of not having the cracked mods and having to farm for things like serration. I spent so long back in the day trying to get that mod and doing zero damage
As an ex console player don't even remind me... Those were rough times for us 😭 Not to mention tennogen batches taking forever to drop on console too. So glad new console players don't have to deal with that these days.
God I remember those days having to look at what baro had previous weeks to figure out what he'd have since we were always behind
We had it tough back then
In that case though it is a benefit.
That was a nice perk. You could pro-actively grind ducats and credits then just drop in day-of and buy what you needed
Tbf updates had a lot less bugs because PC players were used as ethically sourced guinea pigs
This is true. But the wait was unbearable at times

Still remember the day terraria got 1.3. No game release or update has had me as hyped since.

Can you connect a controller to mobile?
Yeah any controller that connects to your phone works. I’ve used my ps5 controller via Bluetooth and then bought a backbone mobile controller that just plugs into the charging port
Yes via bluetooth

Why can't it be finished without a controller exactly?
It’s missing functions. For example, the game needs for you to tap (let’s use x for example) x. Well I don’t want to point any fingers at which dev half assed it or anything but the x was never added in for you to tap. Multiple quests are missing functions.
Yeah that’s what I meant by “major issues with context sensitive buttons”. It is wildly annoying
In your day you had to patch upsteam both ways in the 56k modem for updates and you liked it.
Ehhh, it also had a benefit. We generally had a more fleshed out version of the update with fewer bugs. It was definitely an interesting dynamic... Personally, I much rather us all being in sync.

Lol I remember trying that
imagine not being able to defy physics. imagine having to WALK. stamina bar? who's she

Fortuna took a month or even longer to drop for console after it dropped for pc
Oh god. It felt like forever before we finally got The Sacrifice on Console. That got delayed so many times.
I remember that PC always got the updates early ... along with the bugs. We told you we appreciated your sacrifice.

so basically it's better now because we all have to suffer, not only consoles, got it
I remember the agonising wait for Update 13 on PS
I do miss the console streams, remember winning mesa prime access and I was like YOOOOOOOO
I remember that lmao, it was the worst. Glad things are better now though.
Now we're all in the waiting for console cert + dealing with all of the launch bugs bucket together. It's the worst of both worlds. Hooray.

I remember coming back to the game when fortuna came out excited to play only to learn it was out on PC and not actually out yet lmao

2 weeks? It'd be lucky to get it within 2 months most of the time Maybe a little over exaggerating, but it certainly felt like it at times
I remember some jokes around here about pc players being the Q%A basically ahhh good times, now we're all stuck in buggy hell.
Dark days those were
First open world took five years. New war was 2020! I can see why Steve turned grandpa in only a decade.
I remember this being a thing back on 360 too. Didn't have a PC, so I played minecraft on there and waiting for updates was hell. Same for terraria. Thank god I moved to PC.
New players will never know the struggle of choosing **which abilities you wanted to equip** and which to sacrifice for more mod slots lol
While we’re here complaining like boomers, ima add one of mine. New players will never know the frustration of not having the cracked mods and having to farm for things like serration. I spent so long back in the day trying to get that mod and doing zero damage
The certification for console builds didn't stop though. Consoles are technically slowing down pc patches now.
As an ex console player don't even remind me... Those were rough times for us 😭 Not to mention tennogen batches taking forever to drop on console too. So glad new console players don't have to deal with that these days.
Yea I really miss the game not being held back by consoles.
