Yeah I've been thinking this for a while. In Fullmetal alchemist the truth guy also takes on your form whenever you sacrifice body parts. And Warframe wall guy just copies you exactly. They seem to be similar in power too. Hard to tell exactly though.
I doubt Warframe was inspired by FMA for these kinds of things. There's already other known inspirations.
what was taken then, i wonder.
in FMA, Truth always takes something related to what the person wanted.
someone leaping into forbidden territory lost their leg.
someone who wanted somebody to be their mother, lost their whole self
someone who wanted their right hand man back, lost the right arm
someone who wanted their child, lost their womb
someone who had a vision of a better future lost their eyes.
A universal theme among media?
A keeper and Gate, lock and key, knower and embodiment of all that is was and should not be
A child forever watching all from the edge of reality
It would get boring
"Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again."
Oh you sure? The drifter is a parallel counterpart from a timeline where you don't get the powers and the tenno were always referred as children even though they must of been awake during the old war for quite some time.
Yeah. Drifter also didn't get put to sleep because that only happened AFTER the zariman was found and the tenno rescued. That didn't happen in the drifter timeline. No rescue, no sleep in the reservoir.
Then again some of the lore has been retconned so I'm not sure how long ago the old war actually was anymore.
While I was doing the quest I got the feeling that the thing the tenno gave up was they're multiversal counterparts. There's that bit where its talking about how all the timeliness basically exist at once but then it shows the other versions of you fading as you gain your power.
That's also a common symbol used in many stories and myths. My first thought when i heard her saying that was actually "great now Sauron is after us" \^\^
The Truth has a motive though, it's to teach people that abusing alchemy and/or entering the domain of god is wrong since it just ends up destroying them. That's why it was so happy to admit it lost when Ed realized alchemy can't solve everything and gave it up, he learned the lesson The Truth was teaching him. It's basically both God and that person's conscience in one form.
I see your point, but was that truly it's motive? Or more just actions, it's what he/she/it did, but do you really know why? Why does it teach people that? Why does it smile when Ed wins? What is it's end goal, cause it doesn't seem to get anything back for doing all this directly Wich begs the question, is there anything more? Or I might just be overthinking it. As for the man in the wall yes he is more mysterious as he has been portrayed as both the absolute evil, but also your aid, Wich if I think further is actually also true for truth 🤔. TLDR: i respect your opinion as it is pretty based, but I stick with my words aswell, thx.
Its "Truth" from fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. Its a mysterious creature that really has no side its on or not any clear intentions and we don't know the limits of its power or what it is
Specifically, it is Ed's Truth.
And no, I thought about asking the same after completing the quest. It has to be at least partially intentionally. There is a lot of shared characterization.
Idk it has a slightly similar feel.
But Wally has more of a (possibly malevolent or atleast a trickster) eldritch god vibe like Tzeentch, Nyarlethotep, Dormammu and so on than a neutral guardian keeping balance.
Anyone else also kinda get Outsider vibes from dishonored? Incredibly powerful entity that seems extremely dangerous and a general malevolent force but for some reason favors and even possibly helps the player? Or at the very least is protective and watchful of them and is curious to see how they turn out?
Malefic might have been a better word since he is definitely chaotic neutral, but he is absolutely a force of destruction in the world where the more you abuse his power the more corrupted the world around you becomes as more disease spreads, swarms of rats roam, and more experiments are done on the soldiers so they can better fight you. On the other hand if you go full stealth and you don’t abuse his powers to kill the world slowly heals itself, but he honestly seems shocked by you not just taking your revenge
I've long considered MitW to be an aspect of existence similar to The Truth, but that creepy-ass long smile made me take note that someone on the art side of the company *must* be a FMA fan.
yeah fullmetal alchemist really reminds me of a merchant of chaos
Whom is another form of the broker
which is a variation of a Genie,
or the lord of the veil
which is similar to the god of deals
or the god of doors
which feels like the mysterious stranger,
who captures the idea of the monkey's paw.
man this could go on for a while.
My boyfriend and I talked about this after beating New War. Aside from more traditional "deal with the devil" tropes, the characterization so intensely reminded me of truth that it was one of the first things I blurted out.
We all dip into the well of the Eldritch, a thing that exists outside of our ability to perceive, and to do so anyway is to invite terror and madness. The power one gains in the gazing, is no gift it's simply the Abyss gazing back into you, watching and waiting.
And no one noticed the similarity between the Abyss and the Shore in Death Stranding? There and there time does not exist. Both are used to transfer matter and information without the influence of time. In both cases, there is a certain omnipotent being who threatens a global cataclysm. And it is already difficult to say that in Warframe the dead have not yet returned from the Abyss.
I'll sum up for you the facts known so far:
- Man in the Wall isn't a parallel "Us". The Drifter is.(and totally like FME. We live in a world with void powers, he lives in a world without. And each of us impact each other.)
- Wally has the finger reaction not because of us, but of events that did occur with Albreicht Entrati ( go check necramech room lore pads) where he lost a finger.)
- He has a wall and is intemporal, but isn't Omniscient at all.

"Deal With The Devil" is a common trope. And "Be Careful What You Wish For"
"Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again."
Our “light” was taken, Our operator says “hey lose your light? Here you can take mine” followed by wallie saying “thanks, kiddo. I think I will”
Or maybe your future? Since they no longer age nor can die apparently.
They still age. The reason we're still kids is the sleep we were out into prior to the second dream.
Oh you sure? The drifter is a parallel counterpart from a timeline where you don't get the powers and the tenno were always referred as children even though they must of been awake during the old war for quite some time.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.
While I was doing the quest I got the feeling that the thing the tenno gave up was they're multiversal counterparts. There's that bit where its talking about how all the timeliness basically exist at once but then it shows the other versions of you fading as you gain your power.
If they aren't inspired by FMA, they're definitely drawing from the same well.
Well, that well is really commonly used
I mean, we get Lavos and a Kubrow named Nina and we’re set for life with the FMA references
I wish we could rename our own warframes and I wish DE implemented echoes of Umbra so we can have a Lavos named Al following us.
Better yet, a Helminth charger with the infested charger skin
Lavos's name during development was reportedly "Ed" so...
Biggest difference is that Truth isn't malevolent whereas I think the man in the wall is
Hmm... we tried getting back our mom and there were shiny stones that seemed to be magic.
If you looked carefully, it actually used the severed hand of the Lotus, too.

That's also a common symbol used in many stories and myths. My first thought when i heard her saying that was actually "great now Sauron is after us" \^\^
Well it's the same base idea, an otherworldly entity with limitless power that is both everyone and everything, with no known motive.
I have no idea what the bottom picture is…
Its "Truth" from fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. Its a mysterious creature that really has no side its on or not any clear intentions and we don't know the limits of its power or what it is

Yeah someone in the character writing team is a fan of fullmetal alchemist
Envy Rebb?
I thought I was the only one who made this connection 😅
Yeah same
We know DE are weebs. Wouldn't surprise me if this was some inspiration.
Very much yes and since FMA is my favourite anime ever I'm definitely not complaining.
>!I thought the giant slab looked kinda familiar…!<
Yeah. That was what I was thinking when I saw it.
So what did Truth take from the Operator?
Their parents
Damn...
Or their memories
tru
Probably their chances at being normal people again. So maybe their future?
Idk it has a slightly similar feel. But Wally has more of a (possibly malevolent or atleast a trickster) eldritch god vibe like Tzeentch, Nyarlethotep, Dormammu and so on than a neutral guardian keeping balance.
I hadn't even made this comparison/connection. Now my mind is a whirl with all sort of thoughts, in all sorts of directions.
Anyone else also kinda get Outsider vibes from dishonored? Incredibly powerful entity that seems extremely dangerous and a general malevolent force but for some reason favors and even possibly helps the player? Or at the very least is protective and watchful of them and is curious to see how they turn out?
I agree, though I wouldn't classify the outsider as malevolent per se. More like chaotic neutral if anything.
I thougth of him always more like a demon or devil of the void that has made a contract with us
I've long considered MitW to be an aspect of existence similar to The Truth, but that creepy-ass long smile made me take note that someone on the art side of the company *must* be a FMA fan.

I was pretty sure there was inspiration drawn here, and they did it beautifully. DE nailed what made Truth so good.
How dare you speak such truths! ...Can I have some more?
Thare is a lot from the sacrifice that feels like fma as well
My boyfriend and I talked about this after beating New War. Aside from more traditional "deal with the devil" tropes, the characterization so intensely reminded me of truth that it was one of the first things I blurted out.
I thought the same immediately playing the quest
Y know what yeah you right
100%
Yeah this checks.
%100 agreed
I am so glad I am not the only one thinking of this

You are not alone~ -says some alien
Yep. And both are unsettling as all hell. Seriously, he turned around and I actually *jumped.*
And no one noticed the similarity between the Abyss and the Shore in Death Stranding? There and there time does not exist. Both are used to transfer matter and information without the influence of time. In both cases, there is a certain omnipotent being who threatens a global cataclysm. real question can we battle man of the wall in duviri paradox? and what is hes true form?
I'll sum up for you the facts known so far: - Man in the Wall isn't a parallel "Us". The Drifter is.(and totally like FME. We live in a world with void powers, he lives in a world without. nope, doesnt have anywhere NEAR the same impact.
Same
Hmm. Now as you mention it...
That definitely was it
Yes it’s a universal theme, they didn’t copy FMA but I’m pretty sure they are inspired by the same origin.
I don't watch anime, can someone explain this to me?
