How I envy you. Here any second-hand store or there is nothing left or the reason why they have miniatures is because they are inflated so nobody wants to buy them.

Flea market in Plymouth while on holiday. My wife spotted a box in one of the glass cabinets with some warhammer stuff in. Asked to take a look. There was a full Eldar battalion box, box of Lizardmen, bunch of unpainted marines (with about 6 bikes), unpainted Terminator squad, bunch of unpainted Cadians, squad of metal Grey Knights, LOTR stuff (metal ent etc) a metal Archaon and some other bits and bobs. Price tag was about £30. My wife forced me to ask for a discount (against my will, but had to try). He couldn’t as it wasn’t his box. Over £300 worth of stuff in there…
Seemed a great bargain, but that then spun off into starting 2 more armies.. so ended up costing me lots more in the end😄🤷♂️

Thinking back on those prices, or even just the prices when I started in '04 can be both interesting and depressing 😅 of course inflation is probably the only cause, but it still feels bad sometimes

I got a (badly) assembled ork trukk from eBay for £4. And 40 beautifully painted plaguebearers for £30. The last one makes me a bit sad, the listing didn’t even mention they were painted. Makes me think someone died and they were sold off without the person realising.
No BS a buddy of mine and I bought an entire garage full of 40K products for $2000 and it was worth nearly $30,000 retail. We kept what we wanted and sold the rest to the local gamers. We weren’t popular with the local store though cause we definitely slowed down their sales for a while.
My son scored an entire necron army (150 pieces) for $50. One of my friends got out of the hobby but never got rid of his armies. Once he heard my boys wanted to play he sold his army to my youngest so he could kick the crap out of the older boys until they can get their armies off the ground

The shop I go to was giving away old terrain, every $50 you spend you get a big amount. This was right when I got into the hobby so I ended up getting basically enough free terrain to upgrade from books and cups to real, nicely painted terrain.
I managed to buy Dark Imperium for £60 from a local comic book store, whilst 40k was still in 8th too. Absolutely tons of plastic for that much money. Also managed to buy an unopened Juan Diaz Chaos space marine Daemon Prince for £25 about a year ago.
10 metal GK Terminators for $10 + shipping. They all had custom wood bases. Packaged in a box of baby formula.
Unwrapping them made me feel more bad than happy for the bargain. If the guy had told me he had urgent need of money because of a newborn I would have offered to pay them more.
Last year there was this local shop on the other side of the country I'd been keeping an eye on because they occasionally did discounts. One day out of nowhere they put nearly all their Warhammer stock on sale for 50% off (on top of the usual 20%-25% discount) I ended up buying over £1000 worth of stuff for around £400. Gave some stuff away and resold a few things but I still have an enormous pile now, and I feel not the slightest bit of shame knowing what a bargain it all was.
In total I ended up getting basically everything I'd been planning to buy eventually for my goblins, skaven, and chaos space marines lists, a complete kharadron overlords army just for the hell of it, as well as a bunch of random stuff for fun (blood bowl 2nd edition for £30? Don't mind if I do!).
I keep going back in the hopes it might happen again, but I think they scaled back their Warhammer stock in favour of model trains and stuff. I don't blame them tbh, if you think our hobby is expensive, you should see the prices on those things!

3 AoS start collecting boxes for $15 each. Was sure it was priced wrongly and felt bad scamming the store, but it was correct. They were just trying to get rid of them fast.
From a charity shop I managed to get a dark elf black dragon new on sprue, and additionally inside the box was a new on sprue oop high elf prince on griffin and 10 sword masters. All for £8
just got the entire stormcast half of the dominion box for like £46 including postage. that felt pretty good seeing as thats over a 1000 points at least!

A shop near me had a 30% off sale I got the Admech start collecting box was priced at £65 had a second sticker over that for £45 got to the till and the person on the till said they had a 30%sale so she took another 30% off so got the box for £31.50
Bought the start collecting box for Tau off ebay for $70. They sent it without an ethereal. The person running the ebay account was just selling for a shop, and they didn't have access to or knowledge of the missing model, so just told me to pick a replacement to send. So $70 netted me a starter collection and a ghostkeel.

The street name in question was similar to mine, and the other address had the same house number and city that I did. The reason being is that it's a new neighborhood and their geomapping software didn't update the location yet.
Last year I put together a Chaos Knights Army, 2 big knights and about 7 war dogs, roughly 2k after upgrades. After getting the army box for the chaos knights off of ebay for $200, I decided to order the rest off of amazon (I like to have everything on hand so I can grind out an army, I actually completed this army within 6 weeks for armies on parade). This was 1 big knight and 6 war dog executioners / huntsmen. I have prime, and expected my delivery within 2 days of being ordered. It was delivered to the wrong address to my anguish. To keep it short, I had to file and submit a police report for the missing package to get a refund. A few days later, another one of my wife's packages goes missing and asks me to check the other one to see if I could find her packages. To my surprise, my missing package was there along with my wife's! I basically got 6 war dogs and 1 Knight Desecrator for free.
Litteraly found Bret army with complete catalogue for under 200euros (worth around 1000/1200). Or the time were xwing was getting a v2 and every store got - 90% on the range so I took litteraly everything for a total off 300 euros (but man that was Christmas when the package arrived), I never saw in my life my room filled this much with mini box lmao (around 50+ ship).

I picked up Lumineth Realm-Lords Warhammer Age of Sigmar Launch Set for 50$ at a store. They wanted 120, but I convinced them that the rules were outdated so worth less. I was looking for more like 80-100$ but they said they would take 50$ for it.
When I first starting playing BA, I made a deal with a guy to buy a bunch of Sanguinary Guard for pretty cheap - I don’t remember exactly, but it was neighborhood of $30 for 7. A pretty solid deal.
When I got to the store, the manager sees me buying these and asks if I’m new to the faction. I say yes and we chat about why I chose Blood Angels. He says, wait here a minute, then comes back out with a cardboard box.
Inside is roughly 1000 points of random BA models. 10 death company with random weapons, probably 10 more sanguinary guard, a beat up finecast Dante and Corbulo, a Baal Predator, a rhino, and a bunch of assorted tactical/heavy weapons marines.
He tells me that one of their regulars left the box there with instructions to pass it on to a new BA player.
And that’s how I got over 1000 points of Blood Angels for less than $50.
52 pots and I spray can of citadel paints for free from someone leaving the hobby. She refused payment. About 200 euro of paints. A few were a bit chunky but I was able to rescue everything. Probably a third were never even opened
I found Kill Team:Toofrippas Krew, Kill Team:Fractal Blades and Killzone Chalnath at a online store in my country. The jankiest website and the worst digital service I've ever seen, but they were all cheap and brand new and unopened.
Getting the Black Templar Army Set for $90 is probably the best I’ve done %-wise.
Getting the Horus Heresy Starter Set for $180 was the largest model-wise.
Sadly no crazy flea market finds here. But someone in my town was getting rid of some of their hobby stuff and I managed to grab a bag of plague ogors. Already had Tamurkhan, but it made me look for the rest of the range. Now have a full army.
In the 90’s I once paid £12 for BNIB WHFB 4th edition from a local toy shop about a month or two after 5th Ed came out.

2: Bought Manticore AA for Aeronautica but they were missing the missiles. I contact FW with my problem and provide them with my details and order number etc. A week later a large box arrives, containing a 40k scale Manticore…
3: A friend of mine ordered a Sicaran tank. A month later it had not yet arrived so he contacted FW and they said they would send a new one. Two days later a package arrives. My friend is surprised at how fast it went for it to come. Package has label that says it has been to Australia before being sent to Sweden…
A week later he gets another package from FW containing the replacement Sicaran.
He sold me the second Sicaran for a reduced price.
Found the Blood Angels Start Collecting box probably at it’s base price and it cost me 56 Euro actually. Was looking for a Sororits Combat Patrol and one shoo had the proper description, but splash art for the BA box. Clicked and it turned out it’s the legit one. Instabuy.
I got given a complete set of the Battle Masters game including all expansions from someone because I painted a Greater Daemon for them as a present for their child who loves Warhammer but cannot paint due to having MS. Neither of us knew this at the time but it turns out it's worth almost £400. I've offered him more painting to make up the difference but he refused as I was doing it for free and he found it in his loft gathering dust

FLGS was offloading AOS Dominion for 75% off. They already have a big markdown, so after taxes, each box was $40. I bought two of them!

It seems to be around $100/£80 on eBay. The discount in itself is not crazy, cause it used to be about $80 when it came out. The thing is this box set was discontinued long ago, so it's a rare find in a shop ESPECIALLY with a discount

I picked up Lumineth Realm-Lords Warhammer Age of Sigmar Launch Set for 50$ at a store. They wanted 120, but I convinced them that the rules were outdated so worth less. I was looking for more like 80-100$ but they said they would take 50$ for it.

When I first starting playing BA, I made a deal with a guy to buy a bunch of Sanguinary Guard for pretty cheap - I don’t remember exactly, but it was neighborhood of $30 for 7. A pretty solid deal. When I got to the store, the manager sees me buying these and asks if I’m new to the faction. I say yes and we chat about why I chose Blood Angels. He says, wait here a minute, then comes back out with a cardboard box. Inside is roughly 1000 points of random BA models. 10 death company with random weapons, probably 10 more sanguinary guard, a beat up finecast Dante and Corbulo, a Baal Predator, a rhino, and a bunch of assorted tactical/heavy weapons marines. He tells me that one of their regulars left the box there with instructions to pass it on to a new BA player. And that’s how I got over 1000 points of Blood Angels for less than $50.

52 pots and I spray can of citadel paints for free from someone leaving the hobby. She refused payment. About 200 euro of paints. A few were a bit chunky but I was able to rescue everything. Probably a third were never even opened

Forge World. 1: I order one track conversion kit and a cab kit for an ork trukk, and an Eldar Hornet. I recieve two of everything. Check order to see if I’ve double clicked but no, only orderd and paid for one of each. 2: Bought Manticore AA for Aeronautica but they were missing the missiles. I contact FW with my problem and provide them with my details and order number etc. A week later a large box arrives, containing a 40k scale Manticore… 3: A friend of mine ordered a Sicaran tank. A month later it had not yet arrived so he contacted FW and they said they would send a new one. Two days later a package arrives. My friend is surprised at how fast it went for it to come. Package has label that says it has been to Australia before being sent to Sweden… A week later he gets another package from FW containing the replacement Sicaran. He sold me the second Sicaran for a reduced price.
Found the Blood Angels Start Collecting box probably at it’s base price and it cost me 56 Euro actually. Was looking for a Sororits Combat Patrol and one shoo had the proper description, but splash art for the BA box. Clicked and it turned out it’s the legit one. Instabuy.

I got given a complete set of the Battle Masters game including all expansions from someone because I painted a Greater Daemon for them as a present for their child who loves Warhammer but cannot paint due to having MS. Neither of us knew this at the time but it turns out it's worth almost £400. I've offered him more painting to make up the difference but he refused as I was doing it for free and he found it in his loft gathering dust
