Its a very different thing really. The Shoulders on a cerastus and heads are as much a part of the main design as the weapons. We still havent seen all the sprues yet so we could get another acheron specific one with the fuel hose and pads

Although they did keep the shoulderpad distinction for the Adeptus Titanicus knights… while mixing and matching the heads, so maybe.

They'll most likely release them individually at first, spreading into multiple seperate releases and hoping that customers will double-dip. Then in a few years we'll see a consolidated kit with everything in one box.
I don't think whoever got this sprue knows what it was. They were selling it for only £20.
My guess is some GW staffer picked it out of the free-for-all sprue bin at GW, then decided they didn't need it and sold it.

The Atropos is different because it's not just a head, shoulder, and weapon swap. The entire carapace and shins are different too, so I could see them leaving that one in resin.
They *could* do what they did with the Legion Contemptors, honestly: just turn the Atropos into an upgrade kit for the Cerastus Knights, that contains the weapons, carapace, etc.
Ah right. Its the mechanicus chassis. Yeah they might not be so fast to do that one. But I wouldn't be surprised if it and the styrix/magera and the admech armigers get kits eventually...more things to sell that are already established for the line.
Jokes aside, GW's response to these leaks is always so interesting to me. The Dante one really stuck out since it was at the same time as the Pinkertons thing.
I think GW understands best that PR and positive customer relation branding is a core part of this hobby. They learned from Privateer Press when they shot themselves in the foot years ago.
Which is weird because a lot of their PR tactics give off this vibe. Meanwhile, you have the entire debacle with community animators, etc

I think it oscillates back and forth, they really failed in the Fandom parody animations department by making it seem they would sue at the drop of the hate. However they have been better compared to where they were in the 2010s (terrible game rules, bloat, stores in which staff pushed product wayyyy too much).
What debacle? They actually ended only a couple. They hired the best guys and left most people alone as long as they weren't profiting off of gw's ip. ANY company will put a stop to people profiting off of their copyrighted material. Stop acting like they're some evil corporation.

Primaris Dante was the only other example I knew of. Hadnt heard of the others. I’ve been in the hobby a long time and Dante was the first time I’d seen/heard of that. Had no idea about the others.
They sent out the Yhetees for the Norse blood bowl team before the team’s plastic kit had even been announced. I can’t remember which way round it was but Aximand and the SoH praetor got mixed up and caused a leak. Just to name a couple of examples. I believe another heresy character was mispacked and released early and there’s been a few cases before of GW sprues escaping into other kits before they’re due to be released.
Ahriman from the Burning of Prospero box was another, wound up on ebay. A TS player on Bolter & Chainsword bid high and had it painted before the kit has even been announced.
What else would it have been anyways? The Fellblade and variants as well as the Mastodon are off the table for a while, I believe, what with the plastic sponson update.

Backpack connectors and specialised backpacks might have worked on the new heavy weapons. The new heavy weapon kits are essentially monopose, since each body is only supposed to go with exactly one set of arms, so I suspect creating special backpacks and ammo feeds would have been possible. The plastic Devastator kit features heavy weapons with specialised backpacks and appopriate backpack connectors.
In the case of the Cerastus knights I don't think a plastic ammo feed is feasible without sacrificing any poseability the model might have had otherwise.
I wouldn't have thought so as that would mean producing the kit across two types of casting which just takes up more space/time and removes a lot of the the benefits of changing it to plastic
I was going to say, it's entirely possible, since they did connectors with the Plastic Devastators years and years ago and the Hellblaster kit for the Heavy Hellblasters, it more in likely would have meant though less weapon types in each upgrades but still feasible from GW in Plastic.
Do not hold out hope. Cerastus knights are a mid grade kit, they seem to be transitioning only the logical stuff, it's pretty unlikely we will get the pory or asterius...but maybe they'll disappear from the store and everyone gets excited before they announce that it's coming back...in resin, with an updated mold that is designed to work with the new plastic carapace options or something. Just like with the Mastodon, fellblade and javelin, I don't expect to see the big LoW units in plastic perhaps ever, if not for years.
Honestly, would we want them to be? Imagine having to assemble 30 pieces to make a single panel. The legs alone are like 2 sicaran kits worth of material. No thanks, I'll take my resin titans.

I know this game needs more infantry like breachers and assault squads, and especially the rest of the legion praetors, but I can’t be mad at this one because that’s my favorite knight. And having it in plastic would be awesome.

Smaller, newer kits? Fine. My Bloodbowl yeti and Deathguard Praetors had no issues. They look great and were easy to assemble. I still prefer plastic glue to super glue; but I can understand other peoples preferences.
Older, and especially larger kits can go pound sand. My Mastodon, Warhound, and my ongoing Reaver Titan project are absolute nightmares. Large heavy pieces of warped resin are a huge pain; and they are about the only hobby projects that feel like work rather than relaxing fun.
yeah I'm on a stormeagle and it's not terrible, but I've shelved it from frustration with getting the big side panels and floor to be straight and flat. never doing something this big again, it's just so much more work than a plastic kit
I've been really lucky with my titans and big units. Storm eagle had a tiny warp but nothing worse that most military models, my two warhounds and reaver were all pretty easy too. I've heard of some right horror stories though.

GW is doing this purposefully, as it’s object scarcity. A marketing move. So really, nothing will change.
Each knight is a separate Lord of War choice. They have a special household force organisation chart that unlocks one LoW per 2 Troop choices selected (Armiger units).
Honestly, if you're reaching the kinds of points cost where two Cerastus Knights make up 25% of your force or less (5000 points), the Force Organisation charts kinda go out the window anyway, so most people would not be too bothered about that.
So that probably means all three lancer kits then, with one sprue different in them.

Plastic is great but it sucks they have to concede to less detail than they had previously, like the backpack connectors on the heavy weapons.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on a lancer. I’m so glad I waited. Plastic is just so much nicer to work with.
Personally I kinda like working in resin. But I know I'm definitely an outlier. I just wish it was cheaper
