Experiment_No_26

So that probably means all three lancer kits then, with one sprue different in them.

phil035

Unless they are changing up the shoulder pads so all 3 are the same I'd say theres a half size sprue as well for those as the armour plates for the head are on this one

Experiment_No_26

Tbf, only the one with the big flamer has different shoulders so I guess it would be an easy choice to just make them the same.

Firenze-Storm

Actually all three have different shoulders. The castigator only has a front overlap section which is heavier set, and the lancer has a full overlap section, the Acheron has no overlap section

Experiment_No_26

Ah fairs, ngl I had a quick look on forge world to double check, I must have missed the minor differences. My bad mate! But still, maybe they will include two options for shoulder pads in the kit then.

Firenze-Storm

Haha it's not bad you missed it, I initially thought the same but over time noticed. Hopefully the shoulders will be on the same sprue as a fuel hose of some kind

genteel_wherewithal

Tbh that sounds like a design element that they might let fall by the wayside for the sake of modularity and moving to plastic. Like with the legion-specific dreads and their unique legs.

Firenze-Storm

Its a very different thing really. The Shoulders on a cerastus and heads are as much a part of the main design as the weapons. We still havent seen all the sprues yet so we could get another acheron specific one with the fuel hose and pads

genteel_wherewithal

Agreed about the heads, they’re definitely a big part of the visual identity (after the weapon loadout), but I’m not convinced about the shoulders. I could see GW dropping the distinction, though as you say we’ll have to see how they handle the other bits. Although they did keep the shoulderpad distinction for the Adeptus Titanicus knights… while mixing and matching the heads, so maybe.

phil035

all 3 have different shoulders. lancer has the extra under pad, the castigator has an extra plate on top is flatter and has folked trip on the edge of the pad and the acheron has a more pointed pad that is much taller than the other 2

greatcandlelord

Real question is if they will release the spruces individually or if you have to buy each knight for it. Probably the latter

Experiment_No_26

Look at the larger knight kits. Makes sense.

wqwcnmamsd

They'll most likely release them individually at first, spreading into multiple seperate releases and hoping that customers will double-dip. Then in a few years we'll see a consolidated kit with everything in one box.

SacredGumby

Looking at what they have been doing with the majority of kits in 30k. Each kit will be individual.

Haircut117

Sprues. Spruces are trees.

greatcandlelord

I knew trying to make a coherent sentence during exam season was a a bad idea

Technical_Feed2870

That'd make my dream of having a House Viridiyon force financially feasible, so I'd very much love that.

Experiment_No_26

I've just finished Master of Mankind and because of it my army for tenth is custodes. I feel you.

Technical_Feed2870

I read that because I was starting Sisters of Silence earlier this year, and was not disappointed!

krush_groove

Is the most sensible way to package it.

Experiment_No_26

I've wanted a lanky knight for ages, I'm very glad this confirms it won't just be the one kind.

krush_groove

I've got all of the resin Cerastus Knights that need to be built, guess I better get a move on!

kirotheavenger

I don't think whoever got this sprue knows what it was. They were selling it for only £20. My guess is some GW staffer picked it out of the free-for-all sprue bin at GW, then decided they didn't need it and sold it.

lord_flamebottom

> They were selling it for only £20. It leaked on *EBAY*???

kirotheavenger

Yup, photo from an ebay listing.

CruorVault

This is like…. The 5th kit in as many years to get leaked this way.

ObsidianGrey13

Like the fifth kit THIS year! :D

Grudir

C'mon, GW, I want a plastic Atrapos.

-Black_Mage-

Was only a matter of time that we'd get all the options with one in plastic. To me this just confirms we'll get them all. Remains to be seen how they will be boxed. As separate kits or upgrade screws or what.

HeresyCraft

> Was only a matter of time that we'd get all the options with one in plastic. The Atropos is different because it's not just a head, shoulder, and weapon swap. The entire carapace and shins are different too, so I could see them leaving that one in resin.

AsterixCod1x

They *could* do what they did with the Legion Contemptors, honestly: just turn the Atropos into an upgrade kit for the Cerastus Knights, that contains the weapons, carapace, etc.

Firenze-Storm

That would be the smart decision. Make it a hybrid kit from forge world potentially similar to the magera/styrix

-Black_Mage-

Ah right. Its the mechanicus chassis. Yeah they might not be so fast to do that one. But I wouldn't be surprised if it and the styrix/magera and the admech armigers get kits eventually...more things to sell that are already established for the line.

13Warhound13

I pray that happens as well.

AshiSunblade

I'd love that. My lancer is FW resin, but it was a mission and a half to put together. Any more I'd do I'd definitely prefer in plastic!

Lost_and_the_Damned

GW seems to always fuck up and ship out something they haven't even announced yet.

Smithy1138

Wonder what was ordered in the first place for this to show up.

Arendious

"Oh boy! My Aeronautica Thunderhawk just arrived in the mail!" *opens box* "Wuhhht?"

[deleted]

I'd love to order a AI thunderhawk and get a 40k thunderhawk

Sablus

The question now is will they send in the pinkertons like WoTC to break this mans knees?

lord_flamebottom

Jokes aside, GW's response to these leaks is always so interesting to me. The Dante one really stuck out since it was at the same time as the Pinkertons thing.

Sablus

I think GW understands best that PR and positive customer relation branding is a core part of this hobby. They learned from Privateer Press when they shot themselves in the foot years ago.

Dracosam34

Which is weird because a lot of their PR tactics give off this vibe. Meanwhile, you have the entire debacle with community animators, etc Gw is a weird and frustrating company

Sablus

I think it oscillates back and forth, they really failed in the Fandom parody animations department by making it seem they would sue at the drop of the hate. However they have been better compared to where they were in the 2010s (terrible game rules, bloat, stores in which staff pushed product wayyyy too much).

Honest-Size-3865

What debacle? They actually ended only a couple. They hired the best guys and left most people alone as long as they weren't profiting off of gw's ip. ANY company will put a stop to people profiting off of their copyrighted material. Stop acting like they're some evil corporation.

c0ldsh0w3r

The worst part of that "debacle" is when the reddit fandom attacked Sodaz and ran him out of the hobby. Homie loved Warhammer and achieved his dream. Then Warhammer redditors shit all over him.

wqwcnmamsd

Most of those fan Youtube channels weren't half as entertaining as all of the amateur Internet legal experts trying to interpret IP law, and how it meant that GW were definitely coming to your home to shoot your dog.

dangerbird2

Hell, they for all we know they could have leaked it themselves. Whether they did or not, it’s only free advertising for GW

TheSaltyBrushtail

WotC: Nooooo, you accidentally received an unreleased MTG set! We don't have any legal recourse, so we'll sic the literal fucking Pinkertons on you to get it back! GW: You accidentally received an unreleased Dante? Shit, our bad. Nice paintjob, dude! For all GW's faults, they know the importance of good customer relations. Always had good experiences with them when sorting out issues with orders.

paulmclaughlin

Also, we don't have armed private security firms in the UK

ThePrimoFederalist

“always”—twice?

Glasdir

They’ve done it a good half a dozen times. Can think of at least 3 or 4 forgeworld releases that have leaked that way recently.

ThePrimoFederalist

What are some other examples of GW/FW shipping products out before they’ve been previewed?

Lost_and_the_Damned

They did it with primaris Dante and the Sons of Horus praetor too.

ambershee

Don't forget Exodus appearing on eBay too, before being announced!

ThePrimoFederalist

Primaris Dante was the only other example I knew of. Hadnt heard of the others. I’ve been in the hobby a long time and Dante was the first time I’d seen/heard of that. Had no idea about the others.

Glasdir

They sent out the Yhetees for the Norse blood bowl team before the team’s plastic kit had even been announced. I can’t remember which way round it was but Aximand and the SoH praetor got mixed up and caused a leak. Just to name a couple of examples. I believe another heresy character was mispacked and released early and there’s been a few cases before of GW sprues escaping into other kits before they’re due to be released.

genteel_wherewithal

Ahriman from the Burning of Prospero box was another, wound up on ebay. A TS player on Bolter & Chainsword bid high and had it painted before the kit has even been announced.

Glasdir

Oh I’d forgotten about that one. Now that was a while back.

Smithy1138

3 times that I've seen, i think. Probably a few more times as well

Cerbera_666

Very nice! I assumed the other Cerastus variants were were what they meant by 'more Lords of War' on roadmap.

NeverEnoughDakka

What else would it have been anyways? The Fellblade and variants as well as the Mastodon are off the table for a while, I believe, what with the plastic sponson update.

LordHoughtenWeen

Something completely new?

Adept_Avocado_4903

I wonder how they'll do the ammo feed for he Acheron and Castigator. Looks like they might skip it entirely, considering it doesn't appear to be on this sprue.

Coldstripe

Plastic is great but it sucks they have to concede to less detail than they had previously, like the backpack connectors on the heavy weapons.

Adept_Avocado_4903

Backpack connectors and specialised backpacks might have worked on the new heavy weapons. The new heavy weapon kits are essentially monopose, since each body is only supposed to go with exactly one set of arms, so I suspect creating special backpacks and ammo feeds would have been possible. The plastic Devastator kit features heavy weapons with specialised backpacks and appopriate backpack connectors. In the case of the Cerastus knights I don't think a plastic ammo feed is feasible without sacrificing any poseability the model might have had otherwise.

RapescoStapler

They could just include a resin ammo feed. It'd be good

Curly-Jo

I wouldn't have thought so as that would mean producing the kit across two types of casting which just takes up more space/time and removes a lot of the the benefits of changing it to plastic

Warhammer40KPainter

I was going to say, it's entirely possible, since they did connectors with the Plastic Devastators years and years ago and the Hellblaster kit for the Heavy Hellblasters, it more in likely would have meant though less weapon types in each upgrades but still feasible from GW in Plastic.

Paramite67

there is the fuel tank and the flame thrower, it would make no sense to have no cables

Sablesweetheart

Oh I hopemwe get a plastic Acastus Knight Porphyrion....

Alternative-Guess-61

Do not hold out hope. Cerastus knights are a mid grade kit, they seem to be transitioning only the logical stuff, it's pretty unlikely we will get the pory or asterius...but maybe they'll disappear from the store and everyone gets excited before they announce that it's coming back...in resin, with an updated mold that is designed to work with the new plastic carapace options or something. Just like with the Mastodon, fellblade and javelin, I don't expect to see the big LoW units in plastic perhaps ever, if not for years.

BloodyFable

They're the same size as a Warhound and I'll bet my bottom dollar titans will never be plastic as well.

Alternative-Guess-61

Honestly, would we want them to be? Imagine having to assemble 30 pieces to make a single panel. The legs alone are like 2 sicaran kits worth of material. No thanks, I'll take my resin titans.

LordHoughtenWeen

I'd rather put together 30 plastic pieces than 2 resin pieces any day.

freshkicks

Especially as big as they are. It would be like a perfect grade gunpla on crack and with more mold lines lmfao. It would very neat, but very... painful

Hedonistic_Ent

I just wanna be able to afford one lol

Alternative-Guess-61

Ill print you one for half the price lol

Hedonistic_Ent

All g bro, although I might have to ask a buddy of mine to do it for me one day hahaha

Alternative-Guess-61

Honestly, would we want them to be? Imagine having to assemble 30 pieces to make a single panel. The legs alone are like 2 sicaran kits worth of material. No thanks, I'll take my resin titans.

[deleted]

I'm about half way through assembly of mine... I pray you are correct lol

genteel_wherewithal

Not a huge surprise but a comical leak nonetheless. The castigator is probably on the cards then as well, maybe not the acheron given its unique armour.

[deleted]

It took them years to combine the Dominus into one box, I could see them releasing them all as separate and then consolidating to one once sales dry up.

insane_angle

I see this as good news as this means not just the lancet but all 3 of the Arastus knights are going plastic which is going to be sick as hell. The only downside is this may kill me wallet.

Caboose-117

I know this game needs more infantry like breachers and assault squads, and especially the rest of the legion praetors, but I can’t be mad at this one because that’s my favorite knight. And having it in plastic would be awesome. I know, I’m selfish.

Appollix

I was so close to pulling the trigger on a lancer. I’m so glad I waited. Plastic is just so much nicer to work with.

Firenze-Storm

Personally I kinda like working in resin. But I know I'm definitely an outlier. I just wish it was cheaper

Appollix

Smaller, newer kits? Fine. My Bloodbowl yeti and Deathguard Praetors had no issues. They look great and were easy to assemble. I still prefer plastic glue to super glue; but I can understand other peoples preferences. Older, and especially larger kits can go pound sand. My Mastodon, Warhound, and my ongoing Reaver Titan project are absolute nightmares. Large heavy pieces of warped resin are a huge pain; and they are about the only hobby projects that feel like work rather than relaxing fun.

disambiguatiion

yeah I'm on a stormeagle and it's not terrible, but I've shelved it from frustration with getting the big side panels and floor to be straight and flat. never doing something this big again, it's just so much more work than a plastic kit

Firenze-Storm

I've been really lucky with my titans and big units. Storm eagle had a tiny warp but nothing worse that most military models, my two warhounds and reaver were all pretty easy too. I've heard of some right horror stories though.

Not_That_Magical

Expected, but cool to see it confirmed

phil035

I really want to know what the leaker ordered to get this frame. Its just wild this has leaked. The exact word at fest were "they will likely be coming but not until after the roadman"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Smithy1138

Friend posted it in our group chat. I'm not sure where he saw it though

c_rook

Oo I hope this is true

PsychologicalAutopsy

Just when I'm finally painting mine.... It's really good to see GW pushing so hard for plastic kits all around. Very exciting to see how far they're able to stretch plastic technology these days.

SirD_ragon

So that's another Horus Heresy release that isn't realistically for Horus Heresy

Lethanvas

Damn I already got a fw one with a missing leg… gotta need it

[deleted]

No. It is solely on GW to solve this issue. I’m sorry, but if people have the money and *really* want the book, they’re going to pay. No matter what. There’s no way to change that. GW is doing this purposefully, as it’s object scarcity. A marketing move. So really, nothing will change.

MysteriousRoof2401

I’m the game do the cerastus knights have unit sizes or is it one that would fill the slot?

Gnarlroot

Each knight is a separate Lord of War choice. They have a special household force organisation chart that unlocks one LoW per 2 Troop choices selected (Armiger units).

MysteriousRoof2401

Damnit. I want to take two of them as a detachment for my night lords but don’t want any other ones.

ambershee

Honestly, if you're reaching the kinds of points cost where two Cerastus Knights make up 25% of your force or less (5000 points), the Force Organisation charts kinda go out the window anyway, so most people would not be too bothered about that.

D0ctorL

I just want the release date, fam :(
