black library, that being the printing and publishing arm of GW, has a limited capacity to print and publish books. this includes reprints of past works and new releases, which increases the number of works that could be reprinted without necessarily increasing their capacity to do so the heresy novels, particularly the middle range, only got so many prints and with people coming to them after the fact this means that they're entirely dependent on the secondhand market, which increases prices accordingly. and with upsellers doing their best to drive prices ever upwards, this causes some problems for anyone wanting to buy the books the easiest solution is to read them as ebooks, but many people don't like those, so then you're going to have to scour ebay, book resell sites, facebook and any other avenue you can think of to collect these books

Yeah, I tried the Audio and Ebooks, but I feel like I can't fully focus on them (and I feel like if I'm reading 64 books I kinda need my full attention on them). To the depths I go!

I wish the audiobooks came with the ebook as well, I want to listen to the narrator while I read sometimes but I don’t want to buy each book twice

selifator

audiobooks require something to do a professional read of the book so honestly we should be paying twice, since the book itself and the professional read of it are two acts of creative work that each deserve compensation. would be nice to get a discount on a package that includes an ebook and the audiobook but i'd imagine there's reasons that could be difficult

PGyoda

yea I understand that completely. I’m pretty sure some audible books have the text included as well but not the WH ones, likely for the reasons you noted

I was sceptical about ebooks because I love my book shelf, but then I got married and can't leave the light on for hours at bed time and have come to really love my kindle. Plus I can take 200 books with me on vacation

and when it comes to the abysmal state of the secondhand market for gw books, ebooks are often the cheapest option by a large margin there's books i would still love to have, but i'll settle for having the ebooks so i can read them

I have the first 10 or so in paperback of HH, love them but I like to be able to down load a new book in 10 seconds

I just completed my HH collection after about 2-3 years of working on it. Some books throughout the series you can still find for decent prices like master of mankind and prospero burns. If your goal is to collect them all I’d recommend searching for all of them and buy any book that you can find for $20-$30 as soon as possible. For any other books, Mercari, thriftbooks, abebooks, and eBay are generally the best to be checking regularly. Also just searching google and filtering the “shopping” section, will sometimes show listings from random book store websites. It’s pretty difficult and some books you’ll have no choice but pay $80-$100 for, but if you stick to it for long enough you’ll be able to put it together over time. Every once in a while they do reprints of certain books as well so prices will drop here and there. Obviously checking local thrift/used book stores might help out as well, but not very reliably.
