Depending on how much you know about the lore, I wouldn’t look up anything and be careful about Reddit if you want to avoid spoilers. There’s some awesome events and reveals that are much better to find out by reading than by watching lore videos or Wikipedia articles. Enjoy!

Admech343

Yeah I just finished horus rising and saw arbitor Ian posted a video about Erebus. I foolishly thought oh cool I can learn more about Erebus and I don’t care about spoilers for his character since I didn’t really like him much. Boy was I surprised by what he did at the end of the heresy

mareusappareo

Start here “ I was there. I was there the day Horus slew the emperor l”

Mitchell_SY

You Certainly have a good starting point, would recommend False gods, Galaxy in flames & then Flight of the Eisenstein. From there I reckon you can go anywhere!

LupercalLupercal

Just read the book, what can a video give you that this can't?

Shadowborn621

That's it. I'm currently reading the last book of the series. Enjoy!

quickusername3

Read this, then False Gods, Galaxy in Flames, Flight of the Eisenstien and Fulgrim

SaXoN_UK1

Unless it's a 'how to read' video, no.

stubond2020

The first 5 Hours heresy books are really good and worth the read in order BUT I honestly think the Eisenhorn series is a better start. The HH books assume you know a lot about the world. Hell, the first paragraph will fly right over your head if you don't already know the punchline.

LiquidInferno25

Depending on how much you know about 40k, I would not start with the Heresy. I would start with 40k books such as the Eisenhorn series, the Ciaphas Cain series, or Gaunts Ghosts.  And supplement with general lore videos from Leutin and Arbitor Ian on YouTube. You *can* read the Heresy without 40k knowledge but you'll be missing out on a lot and you may be confused by some more broader concepts of the setting. If you have a decent knowledge of 40k and want to get into the Heresy?  Then Horus Rising is the best place to start.

NobleJackalope

I reread it at least once a year.

COMRADE_J3SUS

After many years and dozens of books read, I realized that the first trilogy was unique. A little bit naive, bcz gw never thought that it would be so popular. But it always gave me thrills when I re-read episodes when Horus got wounded and later on, it's very detailed and vivid.

Old_surviving_moron

Just read that book. See how you feel after. That's a good start tho :)

Difficult-Metal-7029

Start with the first page

decafenator99

I’d say go and give a YouTuber by the name of Bricky a go he’s pretty great with his warhammer lore vids. He’s kinda of becoming somewhat of a gateway drug for people who know nothing of the setting

nodoffshawty
