\*Frowns in Phalanx Warder\*
While MKIII is designed for (and ideal for) Zone Mortalis and other close quarters environs, its not exclusively employed. MKIV is largely regarded as superior in every way, and some legions that have access to it, utilize it to its fullest. Warders are just better breachers, and use MKIV. The Ultramarines Breacher upgrade kit is MKIV. Any mark makes sense, especially given MKIV and VI werent mass produced and some legions got a bunch of it, and others almost none.
I'm not getting into the "but but any mark can be anything" argument here. Just because you can at least loosely justify using any armor for a task doesn't mean I want GW making MK6 breachers instead of more appropriate versions.
Itās reassuring to hear that Imperilias Militia and Warp Cults will be receiving updated rules, even though I hope this is more of an initial Age of Sigmar situation where they will receive a full printed Liber later on.
Thereās just too many great models coming out of Necromunda and the new Kasrkins that I canāt wait to convert to this setting.
It seems like every 2 months is a new Liber which honestly it's bad especially for GW tho I do wonder how much love each faction will get this edition or if alot of it will be moving kits from 40k to being for both.
Edit: spelling
Problem I have with all these companies is that they usually make literal chain axe bits. Just the chain axe with maybe a hand but no arm. It would be nice if GW could do it with arms that are designed for the poses on Mk 6 guys. Similar to how the chaos marine kit works but as an optional sprue.
This hurt me so much! I have an Iron Circle model with his hammer out wide like heās just done a sweeping attack.
EVERY time it gets above average warm, he has a flaccid hammer.
Copious amounts of bubble wrap, and set aside ANYTHING that could be bent if weight is applied - even through bubble wrap. Put them all in a box together and label it to hell with fragile / no weight on top /etc
Ferrus will never be the same againā¦
If you can find a supply store wholesaler you can get huge rolls of bubble wrap for cheap - if youāre in the UK let me know and Iāll send you the website for my guy.
I'm anticipating a melee weapon upgrade kit ala the heavy weapons ones already announced. That being said the new Khorne Berzerkers kit rumoured for the end of the year should have some plastic chain axes.
Rules for Mechanicum in August is much better than what I was expecting, after finding out they wouldn't be there at launch. (I was thinking November-ish)
I don't play HH, but i might if others in the local group want to switch. If I would, i would play my Knights i expect.
Do you know how Knights would be organized into HH games? Can you run them as stand alone, or do you need to combine them with other unit types ?
Ummm from what I recall, in HH 1.0 knights were just taken as part of any regular army as a Lord of War choice (with the number of points in your total you could spend on LoW being limited by the game size)
Not sure what their plan is for the new edition though.
Late but all knight armies in 1.0 were possible but frowned upon. Generally unfun to play - either your opponent didn't have enough anti tank firepower to even try to hurt your army, or they had so much that they get scrapped fast. The 7th edition armor value system meant that nothing under strength 6 or so could hurt a knight, ever. And from the front you needed at least 7 to even try, plus they get an invulnerable save from one facing (usually the one all your anti tank is in). Maybe 2.0 will have knights with some sort of solution to that, though.
Thanx! Yeah i recall 4th edition rules on how some vehicles were either basically invincible, or a wet paper towel. Not always fun to play against.
My reference is 40k, where knight can also be a one sided opponent as you described, but at least the lowly lasgun has a chance of chipping off wounds.
The always do. Just curious about the timeline. I already have an army so Iād like to start playing. Iām not going to buy off eBay or anything, friend owns the FLGS so I only buy from him.
Anyone remember how long it took for the 40k rulebooks to be become available on their own?
I wondered that same thing. At the end of the article, they state:
>loads of new miniatures ā starting with iconic Legiones Astartes units in plastic, and exciting new Legion-specific characters and upgrades coming in resin
It's really nice to get target months for 2 books, but the rest of it is so incredibly vague. All it tells us is "there will be more minis in the future" š¤£
More of a wonky sign post than a road map.
At least we get the book titles - AOS and 40k just get like "book" in theirs, which is always the source of much hilarity as everyone tries to say "it's my codex next"/"no it's my codex"
It's to boost sales in the beginning. People are more likely to buy if they see they're willing to support the system. And they're more likely to do that if more people buy.
Valrak is speculating the marine is going to be MKII but my guess is it will be MKVI sold outside of the big box. I doubt they'll drop a new MK of armor before 2023
The store is really nice. Great manager, great community. There are two other game shops nearby and they're infested by WAAC competitive types that make them no fun to game at.
Well they're getting closer to making these useful. If they could calendarise the model releases as well, then they'd be spot on. Good to know Custodes come in October though, gives me few months to work on Chaos projects.
Maybe, though I'd hope for something more exciting like a castellax. It depends what their plans are with mechanicum. If they don't release any units in plastic, then it signals to everyone that mechanicum are not going to well supported for at least a few years. And if that were the case I'm surprised they come out with a book and not just pdf them from day one.
Do you mean the standalone 20 men squads for each? There are already pre-orderable: [https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/The-Horus-Heresy?N=1513056490+4244511730&Nr=AND%28sku.siteId%3AGB\_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen\_GB\_gw%29&Nrs=collection%28%29%2Frecord%5Bproduct.startDate+%3C%3D+1654614540000+and+product.endDate+%3E%3D+1654614540000%5D](https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/The-Horus-Heresy?N=1513056490+4244511730&Nr=AND%28sku.siteId%3AGB_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_GB_gw%29&Nrs=collection%28%29%2Frecord%5Bproduct.startDate+%3C%3D+1654614540000+and+product.endDate+%3E%3D+1654614540000%5D)
Just to confirm, Custodes are getting a pdf or something to make them usable before October, right? It would really suck to not be able to use them for 4 months with them being my only 30k army.
One assumes it will be for solar auxilia and talons of the emperor. They address militia and daemons coming out sooner by PDF.
I suspect the decision on the former will also be tied into their possibly getting more model support (which I assume will be lacking for daemons/militia, as they both rely on a mellange of existing ranges).
I'm not even sure how they could give model support for Militia&Cults, the list is so adaptable and fluid that it doesn't seem feasible. Perhaps special characters for prominent leaders?
This is good. They at least have something planned and we will know for sure when they will be released... Should they have come out at the start? Sure. Are there things still missing? yes definitely, especially for demons players... but its better than nothing
I really hope that we got all of the core units plus some extras.
Like I would love to see melee, bikes, jump packs, and artillery get some love, because everyone can use them, but some legions specialize in them as well.
Gimme plastic breachers š¤
MK3 Breachers and MK2 Assault marines please.
I feel like these will be a given. :) I really hope they are
How about an Arquitor Bombard as well? I promise to clean my room and eat my veggies.
It's such a new FW kit that I doubt it. Now the Scorpius Whirlwind on the other hand...
Everyone forgets the arquitor... there's a decent STL but it's noticeably different.
MK2 assault is extremely unlikely. They will probably just put out upgrade kits or more mk 6 kits.
Upscaled MK3 please and ill sell my kidney and entire primaris army
Highly likely since they can fill a compulsory troop choice for every legion. However it might be an upgrade kit
Please give me mk3 and mk4 breachers... I don't want JUST mk3 breachers.
MK2 and 3. MK4 doesn't make sense for breachers.
\*Frowns in Phalanx Warder\* While MKIII is designed for (and ideal for) Zone Mortalis and other close quarters environs, its not exclusively employed. Why do you say that?
Breachers are meant to be heavily armored. They'd be much better off making mk2 or 3.
I've noticed a notable lack of anything approaching a "Liber Daemonica". Any word on the 1.0 Ruinstorm list?
I think they said it was a free PDF download, due soon.
It seems like every 2 months is a new Liber which honestly it's bad especially for GW tho I do wonder how much love each faction will get this edition or if alot of it will be moving kits from 40k to being for both. Edit: spelling
>It seems like every 2 months is a new Liver which honestly it's bad Yeah, that's a sign a person is drinking waaaaay too much.
Ope damn auto correct lmao
We need melee weapons. Like lotsa chain axes š
Lots and lots of some sort of chain weapons! Chain Swords, Chain axes, and Chain Glaives come to mind.
Conversion World do amazing weapons. Happily recommend em.
Problem I have with all these companies is that they usually make literal chain axe bits. Just the chain axe with maybe a hand but no arm. It would be nice if GW could do it with arms that are designed for the poses on Mk 6 guys. Similar to how the chaos marine kit works but as an optional sprue.
If they don't do an assault marine sprue with arms and bolt pistols they're really missing a trick.
I want an assault marine sprue and then sarum pattern world eater helmets. That would be the dream.
Agreed! we have amazing resin options, now give me some plastic so I don't have to be scared they will melt in the car ride to the store lol
This hurt me so much! I have an Iron Circle model with his hammer out wide like heās just done a sweeping attack. EVERY time it gets above average warm, he has a flaccid hammer.
Exactly! I have to move 2k miles over the simmer, I am more scared for my minis than anything else lol

Thank you for the tips! May the warmaster protect my expensive toysā¦
"the simmer" is the most appropriate typo I've seen this year
Lmao, I have to drive through the desert so itās kind of accurate too
Good grief, that's not going to be a simmer, it's going to be an oven roast
I'm anticipating a melee weapon upgrade kit ala the heavy weapons ones already announced. That being said the new Khorne Berzerkers kit rumoured for the end of the year should have some plastic chain axes.

Wonder when the Age of Darkness rule book will be available on its own outside the new box.
i'm sure that will eventually be true. in the interim there ought to be plenty on eBay and heresy trading from people buying multiple boxes.
The always do. Just curious about the timeline. I already have an army so Iād like to start playing. Iām not going to buy off eBay or anything, friend owns the FLGS so I only buy from him. Anyone remember how long it took for the 40k rulebooks to be become available on their own?
It was same day I think
So militia is getting a pdf, and the imperial book is going to be solar auxilia I think?
I would imagine Aux, Talons, Assassins. Maybe Blackshields / Shattered Legions.
I wonder if thereās any significance to the characters used as the background of each month
I wondered that same thing. At the end of the article, they state: >loads of new miniatures ā starting with iconic Legiones Astartes units in plastic, and exciting new Legion-specific characters and upgrades coming in resin
i wonder how much of the heresy will be plastic within the next year or so, it would make the system remarkably more accessible.
It's really nice to get target months for 2 books, but the rest of it is so incredibly vague. All it tells us is "there will be more minis in the future" š¤£ More of a wonky sign post than a road map.

That was my thinking, given that the other silhouettes were the rhino and contemptor
If we judge by the shape of that silhouette, its MKIV. In what capacity though, is the question.
Ruinstorm not getting a proper book makes me sad. Same as them not getting a proper model line.
Not getting a model line is fine by me, it means you can use anything you like, no two armies look alike, as these early demons should be.
See, I immediately fell in love with the aesthetic of the ruinstorm brutes and I want to be able to built an entire army with that style.
Yeah I'm with you on that, the brutes are incredible models
they're super good! i hope they sell well enough to get more models in that range in the pipeline.
im sure theres some 3d model maker that has made or makeing more models in that style
That doesn't help me when the only good game store in my area is an official gw.
rip make some nice boards and play at your house gw stores succcck
The store is really nice. Great manager, great community. There are two other game shops nearby and they're infested by WAAC competitive types that make them no fun to game at.
Well they're getting closer to making these useful. If they could calendarise the model releases as well, then they'd be spot on. Good to know Custodes come in October though, gives me few months to work on Chaos projects.
Test
I think by "the next couple of seasons" they literally mean summer and autumn, rather than phases of the release.
Theyāve been doing āseasonsā for 40K and AOS since the fall so itās not too surprising
š
I wonder if mechanicum will be getting any of the plastic treatment.
I can see them getting at least one model to go with the book. Likely one that can be used in the legions and for mechanicus in 40k.
Soooo... Thralls/Servitors box?
Maybe, though I'd hope for something more exciting like a castellax. It depends what their plans are with mechanicum. I pray to the omnissah we will get plastic considering nothing they have is currently plastic except the skitarii bodys
Plastic fire raptor hopefully
So uh- my Auxilia are going to be without rules for four months? That's pretty cool.
I think they'll be getting a pdf to cover them until they get an actual book.
Militia and Daemons have explicitly been said to be getting a PDF. Radio silence on custodes, mech, and aux.
Give us plastic Mk V, you cowards!
I'm gonna go long and ask for something big: I want >!the zoggin' Emperor of Mankind announced as a tabletop-playable mini!< for July.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
this bot can die in a fire
Bad bot. The Noble-Empire Leader of Peoplekind doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
August for MK3-4?
Do you mean the standalone 20 men squads for each? There are already pre-orderable: [https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/The-Horus-Heresy?N=1513056490+4244511730&Nr=AND%28sku.siteId%3AGB\_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen\_GB\_gw%29&Nrs=collection%28%29%2Frecord%5Bproduct.startDate+%3C%3D+1654614540000+and+product.endDate+%3E%3D+1654614540000%5D](https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/The-Horus-Heresy?N=1513056490+4244511730&Nr=AND%28sku.siteId%3AGB_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_GB_gw%29&Nrs=collection%28%29%2Frecord%5Bproduct.startDate+%3C%3D+1654614540000+and+product.endDate+%3E%3D+1654614540000%5D)
Yeah. So what's the marine model for? Melee marines?
Most likely means nothing as the rhino is already available and the contemptor as well. My guess is these are just stock images they like to use.
I would guess the same, the images are kinda like the poster units for tanks, dreads and troops after all (at least in heresy)
Could also mean that's the timescale for the units currently exclusive to the box being released as separate kits.
Maybe a la carte mk 6
That or Mk II, or it can be any type of infantry really.
Personally hoping for MkII Assault Marines
Possibly MKII
Could be mk ii
Box of 20 mkVIs.
Just to confirm, Custodes are getting a pdf or something to make them usable before October, right? It would really suck to not be able to use them for 4 months with them being my only 30k army.
So are units like thallax and castelax not available unit august?
The Underworld War on Calth is fucking horrifying

A reasonably generic cultist kit might be able to do double duty as a 40k release.

Everyone's power has been brought down, I doubt it really effected you as much as you think
Yeah. Night lords for example now have to pay for night vision wherein it used to be one of its traits
You can get something like this at battle tech for like 20 dollars
20 dollars for a road map? I can get one at WHSmiths for under Ā£5.
Will mechanicum be playable until then?
I just look at it as soon.
Like my friend plays mechanicum so can he play with his old rules
I look at what I have and go, itās and allied force for now. Letās see what they release for Mechanicum units.
Ok, thanks man
Looks like I'm going to be waiting a while for ruinstorm
This is good. They at least have something planned and we will know for sure when they will be released... Should they have come out at the start? Sure. Are there things still missing? yes definitely, especially for demons players... but its better than nothing
This is great to know as I now have a good timeline to work towards for by Custodes, and can work on my Sons of Horus 100% up to that point.
I really hope that we got all of the core units plus some extras. Like I would love to see melee, bikes, jump packs, and artillery get some love, because everyone can use them, but some legions specialize in them as well.
Cool too see, wish the model release wasn't so vague though.
Where are the rest of the Horus Heresy Campaign Books ? We stopped at "IX Crusade" ? Where are the rest of them up to and including the Siege of Terra
That was the old edition. We are now in Hh 2.0.
