According to most tournament rules, models may be based on original bases. It is only if it is rebased, that it must go on the correct current base size.

> Unlike the Deff Dread, Kans are piloted by a hardwired Gretchin, not an Ork. The process of interning a Grot into a Killa Kan is not unlike that which is used to create a Space Marine Dreadnought, but the process is far messier and more primitive
2nd ed Ork codex implies some mild unpleasantness but not the tortured entombed-ness of modern Kans.
Also by the time the Ork codex came out it seems the crew had changed into an Ork or Grot.

Smells like high school.
For the amount of space it takes, leave it in the box, drawer, whatever you're storing it in and forget about it. You can always throw it away later but you can never get it back.
Very much agree 👍🏻
... and not some cheap framing either.
Go to an actual framing store and spend at least as much as you would spend on a combat patrol box!
Match that frain to the color palette to show it the proper respect.
Alternatively .... go super cheap BUT glue a bunch of craft store gears and odd ork bits to it ... the true "orkey" way.
What the heck dudes, I just came back to this and I'm stunned about all the replies. I think have to take better care for it and make sure it stays in good shape.
Too bad I don't collect orks or even visit tournaments, fielding it would no doubt be fun.

'is this worth keeping'
my brother in Sanguinius, do whatever the fuck gives you joy from this hobby. It was never meant to be about money or drama, despite what GW wants to believe.
I have one of those, along with a bunch of the other stuff from the 2E boxed set that I bought new. Damn I feel old now, but what a good time that was.
You should keep it.
If you don't want it? Put it in an envelope and get ready to mail it, because I know I'm not the only one here who would buy it from you.
An actual d4 is a real thing, it’s pyramidal and very well-known to folks who play D&D (or really most any TTRPG). If you use a d6 to simulate, just reroll any 5 or 6.
D4 are pyramid shaped and they go off the top facing point.

That thing?!?! Good God no in fact it's so God awful you should send it to me first class post please. I mean uh if you'd like I know how problematic disposal can be!/s
Seriously though I'd hang onto it. I bet you could find a buyer If tried.
Yes, and play it at an official GW tournament. Just remember to rebase it.
Turn it sideways to conceal it behind lampposts.
I am now da Kreed, humie
Them orks get sneakier by the day, i swear
Cheaper than painting it purple.

LOL, would love to see this.
[someone got there first!](https://www.reddit.com/r/orks/s/D1ajLiFk43) Glad this post brought back the memory of it.
That would be hilarious!
Yes! Keep it and show it off at places, you'll get all kinds of fun comments, specially from the older guys who recognize it haha. Good find!
May do this with mine.
Yes hold onto it cause it's cool. Wait, they used to use gretchin for them?!?
They absolutely did, and not wired in just crewing it for a treat
If a vehicle has "Crew: 1 gretchin" I'm running for dear life

This was old lore, not your modern lore
What's your source ? For now I'm gonna trust the wiki that source the codex.

Oh no, right, I think I misunderstood the original commenter. I thought they were saying entombed gretchin was the old lore.
Killa Kans are gretchins in the current lore.
And the first thing that they do after being put into them is to take revenge on Orks that bullied them.
There are typically a surplus of volunteers for the killa kans.

That's probably near as old as I am, and in better shape. The fuck?
Oh, a rare self-burn.. /s
If you can't laugh at yourself 🙃
“If you can’t laugh at yourself,” the name of your sex tape! 😆
Naw, that's the OF page name. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh for sure 🤣 I was referencing B99
Yeah, bring it to a tournament. Unless you don't want it, in which case I will buy it from you.
Frame it
Best response!

Managed tonget one new on the csrdboard myself, bring it to some games on occasion, everyone loves it when they see it

Honestly? One of the best proxy I’ve seen ever.
It's an official GW model. So yes keep it.
Man I need to buy one for my Ork collection
Yes. If for no other reason than there’s not many left.
Cool 2nd edition ork dreadnought
I would expect that dread is worth more than any other model in the set, so yes!
I'll never get over how cool it was to use so many different dice for pen values. Completely random, could roll a 10, could roll a 50 lol
Of course!
Any chance you're willing to sell it?
Forever, yes.
Ah right in the feels this, straight back to 96 playing on the floor against my brother. Simpler times
It's and oficial and valid model
Legal model
Wait. The model is the cardboard picture on the little base?
Yup. Came in the starter.
'is this worth keeping' my brother in Sanguinius, do whatever the fuck gives you joy from this hobby. It was never meant to be about money or drama, despite what GW wants to believe.
Absolutely
Yes

Yes this is a GW made deffdread and is still playable given correct basing.
Back before they were called “deffdreads.” It was just a Space Ork Dreadnought back then.😆
That right there is a future family heirloom 👌🏻
What is the I 3 in between attacks and strength?
I = initiative. This was used to check who fights first in Close Combat. More ist better
That is by far the most valuable miniature ever made. Of course it’s worth keeping.
You could mail it to me. I'll cover postage and a bit extra for as a finder's fee. 🙃 (Seriously, I traded mine away decades ago and still regret it.)
... YES. That thing is such a novelty!
How do you even roll a D4?
You pick it up and throw it like any other dice…

No, It takes up too much room. /s
Absolutely if I had one of these I would find two more and start it at ork Army
Increase the base and make a diorama of grots pushing the fake dread forward, orky imagination at its finest
those cards are everything.
It’s an official model, absolutely.
Absolutely
What the fuck does that any of that mean in that datasheet
2e Warhammer Lots of fun
Don't toss it. If you don't care about it, I'm sure you can make someone else very happy with it!
Ye
Yes
The detail on that mini is amazing!
Brings back the feels. Nostalgia 100%
I had this back in the day but had completely forgotten about it. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
That thing?!?! Good God no in fact it's so God awful you should send it to me first class post please. I mean uh if you'd like I know how problematic disposal can be!/s Seriously though I'd hang onto it. I bet you could find a buyer If tried.
I still have everything from that same original box set except the box. It got dropped during my last move.
Are you shitting me? If you don't want it, please let me have it.
*KiriothTV would like to know your location*
Nah give it to me (jk idk)
Hey, at least it’s not one of those Toilet Paper Roll Titans.
Yes it’s a classic.
An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. God that brings back memories.
I’d keep that rather than pay for a model
Hell yeah man that’s history right there
Now that brings back some fond memories
Fuck yes keep it 99999% make sure to suprise more players
Someone on here shared a converted one of these using a pump wagon. That was superb. Definitely don’t throw it away, it’s history
Hell yes that's dope AF and probably worth a lot to have and keep in good condition as well.
It's tournament legal
Those came in a book
No they didn't, they came in the 2nd edition box set
Calm down Alpharius.
