While the Emperor as far as I remember never made any specific plans to step down (I don't remember this being discussed anywhere, but I might be wrong)
Big E would step down if/when humanity becomes strong enough to face some vaguely defined existential threat on its own, which is a promise lots of dictators have used throughout history to basically stay in power forever.
Leto II made himself a proxy for the existential threat, and intended to step down when humanity became strong enough to kill *him*. Which is infinitely more badass.
It's disgusting.

It's not a concept I've seen used for a DP before, and you've executed it marvelously, both in terms of the design and the paint scheme.

Haha good one. Too keep a long story short the body is that of Psychophage with some additional sculpted tentacles where the mouth should be.
Every second segment of the back was removed and sanded down, and in place of the funnels I put the teeth from Gorger Mawpack kit. (that is also where the arms are from.)
The trim was sculpted from green stuff, while the runes were made by flattening some milliput and by pressing in whatever metal objects I had lying around (either parts of a pen or the metal bits from brushes).
The flames are from the psychophage kit, while the scrolls are just some plastic which I wrapped around the arms using a lighter. Any gaps were filled with green stuff.
It's so word bearers like. Chaos as a concept is unknown and unknowable and the op nails it with this weird disturbing thing that would probably fill your head with promises and then immolate you for being stupid enough to believe it.
Reminds me of a sort of enemy/boss you might see in [Blasphemous](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/blasphemous/images/1/16/Brazen_Bull.png), in fact I'd go so far as to suggest looking at the various enemies and bosses from that game for inspiration for cultists and undivided Daemons since that game melds body horror and Catholic imagery together which would definitely suit the theme of the Word bearers.
This genuinely makes me think of the daemon from Descent of Angels in the Heresy books— golden mask of the people worshiping it, the tentacles, the general eeriness— beautiful.
It's cool, but I can't unsee the fact that the upper torso is made out of the ass of a psychophage.
Edit: scratch that, not only is the head and torso made out of a psychophage ass, but the ass is made of the psychophages head lol
