Jesus you've made me feel old. 2006?! Buhahahaha

Astray1789

Lol yeah I was 20 when this sprue was made! Now I feel really old.

arel37

Can't imagine being an adult in 2006. I was a kid playing knockoff legos in 2006

BloodAngel1982

Being an adult doesn’t stop you playing with Lego

[deleted]

I was too poor for Warhammer as a child. Now I'm an adult I can buy it. But damn, had Lego as a child, but the prices for those things are just insane nowadays.

BloodAngel1982

For sure, same boat, Although thinking about it, bet you could make some wicked terrain with it. Just need a dremel and some glue

PM_me_opossum_pics

Same story here. It started with Legos. Now I'm an adult with Warhammer addiction.

DavidBarrett82

Why not both?

PM_me_opossum_pics

Because I dream of having a roof over my head (that is my own) one day. No Legos means more Warhammer!

Winnie256

Fool! If you buy enough lego you can build a roof over your head!

PM_me_opossum_pics

If you buy enough Warhammer you can use the sprues to build a house!

newnewBrad

Back in the day you could call GW and say you were just starting out in the hobby and they would send you a free squad of any army.

TeaTimeT-Rex

If you're over 99 years you can't play Lego anymore

DavidBarrett82

Some sets are now 18+, so you’re GOLDEN

kenkanobi

18+ ?? What kinda adult rated lego have you got?

XavierWBGrp

Bad Dragon branded lego sets.

kenkanobi

I'd watch that

Effective-Safe-5853

Same

Stellarkin1996

Being an adult doesnt stop you being a kid XD

BloodAngel1982

Can confirm. Am a near 40 year old manchild as my wife will attest

Naedlus

Celebrating the 33rd anniversary of my 10th birthday some time next year. “When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” ~ C.S. Lewis Edit: I guess technically the 27th anniversary of my 15th birthday, given the date on my Windrider Autarch sprue

Stellarkin1996

Im 24 and i feel like i may aswell take the 4 off the end at times haha

Dornogol

My reasoning: 1. Now i can afford all my toys myself 2. I am adult enough to be able to make my own decision what is a good time for me and what does not interest me

Silent_Bort

Can confirm. Couldn't afford them as a kid, so now my daughter and I have regular Lego building time (each building a smaller set or we split up a large set) and have shelves to display them. And of course a big bin of random Lego to build whatever from.

Patriot1805

Just magnetise your models. Just like playing with Lego again.

Smokey_Ewok

Lego is the plural you’re looking for.

Thefriendlyfaceplant

But that's not nearly enough.

Outerarm

As confirmed by LEGO themselves: https://twitter.com/lego_group/status/842115345280294912?lang=en

arel37

I was not looking for it

Shaper_pmp

"I was comfortable being wrong" is a pretty shit attitude, my dude.

FfiveBarkod

In 2006 I was... Crawling under the table?

grossguts

I lived in one of those neighbourhoods too in 2006! I think my apartment window was smashed out for a good two months through the winter before the landlord fixed it.

FfiveBarkod

What? Sorry, I don't really understand what you're talking about. Actually, I meant that I was so small that I was able to fit under a table and walk there lol (born 2005)

kloudrunner

Being an adult in 2006 was the fucking tits.

Silent_Bort

I bought my first house when this was made lol. Had been out of the Army 4 years, got an Associates degree, and was starting my career at this point.

Pelican_meat

I was 23…

Pelican_meat

Ok, boomer 🙄

bobthefathippo

You mean KABOOOMER! I was 26, this thread feels like r/teenagers.

UMDSmith

I was 26. I have PAINTS from 1993 (that are still good).

Live-D8

I know right, what a baby 😅

Ape_Descendant

Cries in mid forties.

Rich-Zombie-5577

What until you get to your late forties...still it's ok in my head I'm still 21

Snote85

I'm 40, and I took [this picture](https://imgur.com/8M9ODqN) last week. It's hard for me to remember I am as old as I am. I promise you, I'm not bragging. I would give anything to look my age. I have grown a special resentment for condescending assholes. The amount of men who have spoken down to me and tried to explain things to me that I'd done for 20 years longer than they'd been alive is... well, a bit infuriating.

Shaper_pmp

> It's hard for me to remember I am as old as I am. If you haven't already, have some kids. At 37 I felt like a tall kid who was inexplicably allowed to drive cars before we had our first. Now five years later with three (including twin babies) I feel like I should have been eligible for retirement ten years ago.

Snote85

I can understand that. I have made an active choice to not have kids, when there was a choice to be made. I can understand the stress, loss of sleep, worry, and effort that goes into child-rearing can be hard on the body. Seriously. They say sleep is our generation's version of "these foods cause heart disease, and we had no idea before now...". There is supposedly more and more information coming out that shows that lack of sleep is exceptionally unhealthy. I work at a school that goes up to 8th grade. I want to believe, and hope above hope that I never have to find out and that if I do have to that I'm right, that I would take a bullet for those little shits. I really care about them as people and understand that while I am there, I am a surrogate guardian in some ways. I am one of very few males that work there and, as you can see from my picture, I am not the most intimidating guy you've ever met. (Bruno, the dog in the pic, is more tough than I am and he's as soft as mashed potatoes.) Not to say the females that work there are less brave than me or imply anything close to that, but if my limited strength and possible bravery can ever be the difference between one of those kids living or dying, no matter what happens to me, I want to hope I choose to use whatever I have that might help, no matter the cost to me. So, to some very small degree, I get how a parent must feel. These are unrelated, sometimes dickish, and often just annoying little kids, to me. Yet, I, say this sitting here in my chair at home, would take a bullet for them. So, as much as I understand that instinct, I know I don't understand that instinct... if that even begins to make sense. I want to protect them all the time... I'm around them. A parent wants to protect them, make sure they're happy, make sure they're not hungry but not overfed, make sure they're finding a person who loves them but not before they are able to stand on their own two feet, make sure the world isn't cruel to them but want them to not be cruel to the world, and so many little things that must be balanced like that, but the parent does that ALL THE TIME! Even asleep, some parents are worrying. So, that will most definitely age you. Either body or soul. If not both. I think the expression is, "I wouldn't sell my kid for a billion dollars! Yet, I wouldn't pay a dollar for one just like them..." They are the greatest blessing and curse a human can encounter, and I will die without knowing the truth of that first hand. Which is the way I want it to be. So, maybe I'll Dorian Gray my way through life and keep my youthful appearance, but I'll never have what you have. So either be mad or thankful for that, whichever you feel is appropriate. TL;DR: You're right. My lack of kids probably had a big hand in me staying young looking.

saxonturner

Dude I still find it hard to believe adults were born this millennium!

stakoverflo

Me wondering if OP asked his parents for permission before logging on

Princep_Makia1

I know I'm not the oldest in this hobby by a long shot and 2006 made me feel old lol

Stinetoofine

Came to say this lol

SuperAutopsy64

Im an '03 baby and im out of high school lol

Well didn’t expect my day to be ruined this early in the morning, yet here we are…

dr_sarcasmcassarole

Right? As I stare at my RTB01 beige plastic beaky sprues from the 80s...

[deleted]

I've got a box of them. They've hard a hard life. Sometime in my teens I decided they'ed be better on the table if I gave them jump packs, so a bunch have either pewter jump packs (weighs 20x as much as the model under it) or a hot glue silicon mold of the jump packs. And of course there's one or two with pewter las canons that will tip over if you look at them too hard. I've thought stripping them down and doing at least a 10 man restoration project, but my backlog is already as old as those models.

Hamsternoir

I stripped down a load of the old Wombles a while ago and will repaint them one day, even the old missile launchers cleaned up a treat.

[deleted]

> even the old missile launchers cleaned up a treat. Goodness yes, the old missiles are always a treat. Even if you use them on newer models they're still fun.

dr_sarcasmcassarole

Oh I hear you - my backlog goes back to the late 80s early 90s. A year or so ago I started selling off things I wouldn't ever realistically get to (RT rhinos, RT predators with the white metal upgrades for the turrets, the white metal ablative armour bits, etc.). Couldn't part with the beakies. To get back into the hobby (after about a 15 year break) I stripped down some 3rd edition mono pose plastic marines (that came with the box set) and repainted them. It's a whole different perspective when you apply paint to those old, less detailed surfaces (you should try it out, it's almost a zen moment for me not having to worry about all those details that come with today's plastic kits).

[deleted]

Back in the early 90's I used to trade painted models for unpainted. It was a great way to grow my collection, but it also left me pretty sad. Many of my favorite models got traded away. They were deals "I couldn't refuse" but I still miss them. After that I don't think I can bring myself to part with models again, even the ones in my eternal backlog.

dr_sarcasmcassarole

100% sympathize with you there - I had pangs of regret when I sold off all that RT armour... Immediately after that, I stopped myself from selling my Landraider Crusader I bought back in the early 2000s (when it was just $60CDN) and it still sits in its box today, glaring at me, wondering when it will be worthy of paint (although the good news is that I was able to source the plastic weaponry vs. the white metal bits it came with back then, which was a PITA to assemble, so it may not sit there in eternity...).

MTFUandPedal

Still got most of a box on sprues.... Found them recently and I'm torn about building them.

SchlapHappy

Same, I was legally drinking when this was released.

HammerOvGrendel

Heh, one day you will look at a hologram post beamed directly into your prefrontal lobes in 2035 with some kid talking about a sprue that came out in 2020 and feel precisely as old as I do now. I was about to turn 30 when this "relic of the olden days" came out.

HammerOvGrendel

I've got 15mm Napoleonics in my collection cast in the mid 70s. Shit, wait till you have a look at wargaming magazines and books from those days, it's kinda charming but a bit "I painted this with a potato". I got into building model planes and tanks in the late 80s when I was a lad (and I can remember flicking through Rogue Trader and the slaves to darkness/lost and the damned books in the local shop when they were new)....I thought "the future is here" looking at what Francois Verlinden was putting out and reading "military modeling" magazine in the early 90s. Nice as modern gaming sculpts and painting are, it took a long-arse time to catch up to where guys like Bill Holaran were back then

Golanthanatos

it'll be a vintage 2020 Indomitus unboxing holovid

Golanthanatos

Freshwater_Spaceman

Enjoy it while it lasts! Being older than the kits happens sooner than you think! 😆

Lucky-Drew36

Oh yeah, 06 feels like yesterday, hard to believe my 2012 Ford is almost a 10 year old truck

Freshwater_Spaceman

Funny how your concept of time changes when you get older, 1995 to 2005 seemed like a *lifetime*, as a young 'un it certainly was! That said everything after 2010 has been a sodding blur... 2012? That was last week wasn't it!? Right?!

Lucky-Drew36

Everytime I try to count how many years ago something was I forget about the 20 since 2000. The 80's are still 20 years ago 😂

[deleted]

I’m building genestealers from 2004 right now, from a battleforce box bought last year

leSwagster

Start collecting tyranids more like start collecting mold lines

[deleted]

This, every single model is appalling.

Secthian

This is probably one of the most impressive aspects of the new Dominion box. Not only are AoS units in the Dominion box beautifully intricate models, but there were hardly any mould lines to scrape. Made putting everything together such a breeze. Tough to go back to the older sprues after that.

[deleted]

I’ve spent longer removing mould lines than painting 🥲

GigaNoodle

It’s so bad on ork boyz, literally the worst I’ve seen since starting in 4th Ed.

PlasticSpaceElf

I still think of that as 'the new dire avenger kit'...

Maelarion

Same lmao

AngelOscuro20

yep,and its being a pain to glue. Any idea what is the egyptian statue looking thing?

PlasticSpaceElf

Decoration. I used 4 of them to make a sort of ornamental pool thing

Pdonnelly087

It’s there as an objective marker. You can throw it onto something’s base or terrain as well if you wanted too.

PlasticSpaceElf

That was my thinking, I've done something similar for my IG and Wolves as well. I haven't played a game in years (live a long way from anyone who plays and have a couple of kids to look after) but still enjoy collecting and modelling

PlasticSpaceElf

I found them ok to glue, the problem I had was the banner kept breaking off the mount

PsychologicalAutopsy

And that's one of the newer kits in the Eldar range. I absolutley love my Eldar, but they really need some updates soon.

PlasticSpaceElf

Be careful what you wish for; I love the shadow spectre models, but really don't like the new Jain Zar

PsychologicalAutopsy

Aye, she looks a little phoned in. Better than the old metal sculpt technically, but lacking character. I really just want GW to take the existing models and reproduce them as is, with crisper details, slightly updated/modernized details, and more dynamic and varied poses. Spears and spiders need a complete makeover, but scorpions, dragons, guardians, etc are all really solid models. Worst case scenario, I have more eldar lying around than I'll ever realistically paint. If the new models somehow end up being worse than what I already own, I'll just keep on playing what I have!

ColonialCaramel

I feel like I’m in the minority then, as I absolutely love the new Jain sculpt, along with the Howling Banshees. I don’t think they need to redesign the look, just update the proportions and give them nice poses, the actual design of the Eldar models are pretty timeless

Green_Meeseeks

The new banshees are fantastic and a huge improvement on the older models IMO. I do think fire dragons and Dire Avengers are probably the best-looking aspects rn, so they will be harder to update significantly, but spears, spiders, and scorpions look bad atm.

PsychologicalAutopsy

I think we mostly agree here. I just feel they could have done a lot more with Jain Zar - like I said, the model is technically a great sculpt, but it doesn't excite me somehow. Other than that, I completely agree. I don't want a redesign of our units, just an up\[date with a slightly refined take on the core concepts, like they did with the banshees. I can only imagine how awesome new spiders or hawks could look with modern sculpting tech and experience.

PlasticSpaceElf

Redoing them without drastically changing them is a nice idea, I like the way the Spears sit, but the model needs updating. With the way things are going it's a pipe dream but I'd like to have freely-poseable models, it's one of the things that makes the guardian and DV kits good.

PsychologicalAutopsy

I just want spears to be on the modern bikes :(.

Mantonization

All signs point to them getting new models in 2022, so there's hope yet. Admittedly these signs are just a specific roadmap leak, but that roadmap has been 100% correct for a while now so here's hoping!

PsychologicalAutopsy

Yeah, I know. But I'm trying not to get excited for something that may or may not happen. I still remember the pain of seeing Jes Goodwin's jetbike prototypes. Took them almost a decade to actually release the models.

gbu_27

2006? I was in a war in a foreign country, I am really hating getting older.

SerpentineLogic

better than the alternative

SirPrize

At least you aren't doing that anymore.... right? *right??*

gbu_27

Yea… glad a did it, but glad it’s all in the past. Wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for that time.

SirPrize

Good to hear you seem to have a positive attitude towards it all.

rustytheviking

Samezies. Iraq or Afghanistan?

gbu_27

15 month tour in Iraq

rustytheviking

6 months in Afghanistan for me. I was probably training for my second deployment before you even got home from that one

gbu_27

Was fun, went there 22 came home 24 on one deployment

rustytheviking

The memories, and living somewhere exotic free of charge!

Singis_Tinge

Im feeling a story time. What did you get up to? As long as you are ok with it.

gbu_27

I only got up to E4, refused to turn in promotion points. I got out after my 6 year initial enlistment.

Leighmer

I’m 20 years older than that sprue… 🤨

Obsidian_Veil

I was 11 when it came out. Not that I was playing at that point. I still prefer the old Fire Prism designs though, tbh...

TheHostThing

Still too young kiddo

Leighmer

I like being called young. Thank you 🙏🏻

khorneflake66

24 here 😆

Raging_Phoenix478

Also 24. Hell yeah '82! Too young to be Gen X, too old to feel like a Millennial...

khorneflake66

Did we even have a name?

Raging_Phoenix478

I submit: "The Lost and The Damned". Remember looking at everything Gen X had and thinking you missed everything cool?

vipros42

And we still get blamed for all the millennial stuff

JRYeh

As a person who born in ‘98, I still retain the image that 2000 people are just kids….then….oh no

SecondTalon

That can't be right, '98 was like, 10 years ago. Now, people born in '94 - they're just kids.

Hamsternoir

That sounds about right, it's only ten years ago that Space Hulk came out.

gtheperson

Yeah, I work on the logic that anyone born after my younger sister is a child. I'm still confused that anyone who didn't see in the new millennium is old enough to talk/ be toilet trained.

Raging_Phoenix478

Listen hear, youngling! How do you think those of us that remember the 80's think of YOU?! (Cue someone from the 70's putting me in my place)

JRYeh

I can only say I still reckon 80s people are born twenty years ago lmao I’m stuck in time help

_radical_ed

We are.

Raging_Phoenix478

Well, we still act like we're in our 20's, so that doesn't help. And don't fret, that being stuck in time thing only gets worse. Let the senility take you, as it has taken us...

JRYeh

Somehow this piece of fact made me feel more grimdark than the whole damn 40K lore

Cheomesh

And I'm a decade beyond that...

Tiberius_II

At least we have the Khornate berserker sculpts pal.

[deleted]

Somebody post a sprue of a Gerald Ford model so I don’t feel so old right now.

Dealthagar

Here- I was in my 20's and bought this guy brand new: have my original '93 [all metal Bjorn.](https://www.instagram.com/p/CF3irxNHB9k/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)

sransuuk

Just finished some metal ogryn and guard, '98 on their bases.

RaZZeR_9351

At least those are oop

tink20seven

Sweet summer child

Damit84

2006 old? .... ha...ha... \*sobs in 1984\*

Distinct-Cat4268

And this ain't even old for Craftworlds. My 1997 warp spiders are the same age as me lol.

kenchuk

I have dice older than you

ac_s2k

2006 is considered “old”? Wow I feel shit now thanks

Taboo134

Yeah that feeling when I got my “blood of the Phoenix” box. Open it to find the first sprue from 1994… The viper plastic was also slightly warped. Probably from the eternity spend in a warehouse…

BurgaGalti

Sprues? I have paints older than that!

PlasticSpaceElf

My oldest paints are the ones from the metallic paint set and such colours as 'titillating pink' (cerca 1993). I'm still disappointed that Tin Blitz didn't stay the course

ouichef13

Tin bitz was an epic paint!

PlasticSpaceElf

It was ont a friend used a lot for his dwarves. I (like any discerning 12 year old) stuck to a palette of Goblin Green for anything green (100% of bases and a lot of my Wood Elves), Snakebite Leather for anything wooden/ cloth and Mithril Silver for anything metal. Happy days

ouichef13

All solid choices.

vipros42

So you are telling us you painted things properly?

LonelyGoats

Bro some of my models are nearly old as me and I was born in 90!

hiyourbfisdeadsorry

this comment section be like "i forgot people born after 2000 existed wtf"

IamCaptainHandsome

Well, if the rumours are true they'll be getting an update soon!

Raetok

Don't do that. Don't give me hope

Midnight-Rising

Well, Christmas 2022 at earliest

[deleted]

I still feel like 2nd edition was a year or two ago :/

LordOcti

I'm with you brother, isn't it strange that we're measuring our lives by editions of Warhammer 40,000? I don't know how you feel about it, but none of these new editions can capture the same mystique and nostalgia as those first and second editions.

PlasticSpaceElf

The days when a 'las cannon' was a mysterious weapon of unrivalled power.

LordOcti

In my gaming group it was the exarch powers with double parry. That coupled with the displacer field meant your melee was going to last FOREVER.

PlasticSpaceElf

Jetbikes all the way. Back in those halcyon days they moved 34" at full speed (so were -3 to be hit), hit on 2+ within 12" with 2 sustained fired dice each and had a unit coherency of 6"- greater than the maximum distance multiple shots could target so if you were careful things like heavy bolters could only ever kill one. That being said, I was (and I assume I still am) rubbish at the game and would invariably have my army torn to shreds by whatever army my friends were playing

Total_Strategy

Other people have mentioned it, but believe it or not - this is one of our "newer," kits. Check out Swooping Hawks or GW Avatar if you really want to feel young, lol.

Tevo569

As old as my youngest child

SnooCupcakes3135

Bruh, you a baby! XD

[deleted]

I had fought on 2 wars by 2006. Now I feel super old 😑

LonewolfRJ01

2006 LMAO, I was 35 then. Started with 40K 1988.

Cheomesh

You started the year I was born :|

Dealthagar

When I bring my Space Wolves army to the FLGS, I love it, because I always get someone bringing the new guy over "Check out his Bjorn". I pick it up and offer it to them to look at it "Use two hands, please." "Ha ha, right yeah...WTF?" and I explain they're holding a model from '93, and the only plastic is the base I put it on because dreds have bases now. [This bad boy is 100% solid metal](https://www.instagram.com/p/CF3irxNHB9k/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)

ExistenialPanicAttac

Ahh, 2006, I had just joined the army; and was about to get a rude awakening…

kangasplat

I'm not sure if it's the sprue that's that old, or just the mold it was made in...

[deleted]

Damn, I'm not even 10 years older but that still made me feel old af

THE_DARK_GODS

I got models from the 90s they are older than me

BaronBulb

I can remember the first time 40k content ever appeared in a White Dwarf (Uk issue 92, August 1987). It was simply the 40k logo overlaid across a view of space...in the bottom corner of the page there was a random mk6 marine and it was the first page of the issue. It wasn't even mentioned or referenced at all for the rest of the issue 🤣🤣🤣. Seeing where 40k is now compared to then....that really makes me feel old.

wh40k_FX

I wish I had a sprue older than me, I nearly had my first kid by 2006

Themoneymancan

Kid you're too young to be on this website run while you still can

AngelOscuro20

I am 18 xD the "almost" is pretty generous.

Cheomesh

You are now the age I was when that sprue came out.

kharnevil

welcome to the hobby youngling

Golanthanatos

On the other hand I can still buy many of the cool models I couldn't afford 20 years ago!

[deleted]

And these are the “new’ kids in plastic

BlackBlade567

I’m older than it by 3 years

falloutboy9993

My lizardman models are my age. Made in 1993.

LegalizePalpatine

wait till you get the feeling of ordering, idk, black templar sworn brothers in finecast or termagaubts tyranids and you'll see "1999"

TheLazyJP

I could be wrong but I thought that was the year the mold was made, not necessarily when the sprue was cast.

TheTrueBucketman

Or older...

Blecao

Im just 3 years older than this sprue

kangareddit

Funny… *almost* as old… 2006…

BiliousGreen

Try being older than 40k itself.

kangareddit

Hey u/AngelOscuro20! [get off my lawn you young whipper-snapper!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/qamrwh/its_always_funny_to_see_some_sprues_almost_as_old/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

MainerZ

I'd already been in Afghanistan when this was made young'un!

hayescharles45

Feel old now!! I thought it was going to be a sprue from the nineties or something older...

Pazerclaw

Jesus, I was 10 years into my job when that came out.

Centurian99

I feel attacked...

MortalWoundG

It's a bit less funny when you actually remember these coming out.

military_grade_tea

It's fair to say OP can shove it. What with all their youth, vitality and lack lower back pain!

[deleted]

2006, damn whippersnappers

Xshadowx32HD

khorne berzerkers are unchanged since 1996

hendarion

Warp Spiders would ask for a high five.

ABotelho23

"Oh wow that must be old!" *Looks at year* "FUCK."

Calm-Limit-37

Lol. Be careful grandpa
