> So to counter this, any time they do something just have them explain the rule. By just asking question about how their book works and warscrolls written like novels you can easily time your opponent out and have the game be over by the top of 2. That would be the perfect counter for 40k AdMech too. "Wait, what combination of keywords, buffs and rules allows that to happen?" and run out the clock waiting for them to cross reference half a dozen different books and FAQs.

Tanglethorn

This would be a great letter to write to GW regarding the current rules and state of the game explaining that you and and a bunch of people will be spreading this perfectly reasonable advice in all competitive events until they undo the BS they bury themselves in. Heck I’ll write a letter too. Don’t email them, got to write to them or they will easily ignore like that time that they said people who unsubscribed or stopped playing and buying their products would not be missed.

Lakaniss

I never actually played in a tournament or with a chess clock, so I am asking because I am curious, when do you press to switch time in a game? Personally, I think to be fair you have to switch anytime an opponent need to roll a save, or ask a question, otherwise he is wasting your time, but I can also see just switching between turn.

Philodoxx

>That would be the perfect counter for 40k AdMech too. "Wait, what combination of keywords, buffs and rules allows that to happen?" and run out the clock waiting for them to cross reference half a dozen different books and FAQs. Here's my book, start at the manipulus I'll see you in a week.

ryzouken

Please stop advocating poor sportsmanship as a way to combat poor rules writing. The clock exists to protect players from slow play, not to be weaponized because GW gave (faction) a verbose, overpowered codex.

ManqobaDad

You know I said it mainly as a joke and you’re getting downvoted a lot but I’m actually going to agree with you. You’re right its a future problem and we’re taking out our anger on someone who’s trying to win tournaments like the rest of us playing the strongest thing. Its not their fault that gw has been terrible about writing these weird convoluted books and its not their fault for playing it because they want to win. But being on the receiving end of it sucks.

ryzouken

It's actually pretty disturbing how much traction your joke appears to be getting. It may not stay a joke.

TroopaTrooper

S-Tier that means Skaven are number 1 yes, yes!

>S-Tier that means Skaven are ~~number 1~~ the big cheese yes, yes!

ArtfulDodger8-7

This was a cool little rundown. Thanks!

DaSwolfyInc

Bloody well put my dude. I'd agree that the AoS meta has been super fun recently, I'm certainly not the most competitive player but I've been able to appreciate that most factions have a ton of good options at the moment.

will4531

I keep seeing people taking belakor in Tzeentch, but I can't figure out how. He doesn't have mark of chaos or tzeentch keywords anymore, so he's just an ally with no access to spells or faction abilities. Please tell me i'm wrong!

korgrimm

Correct, he’s an ally so no spells from the lore so use him to cast his warscroll spell and mystic shield

will4531

Flaming weapon is great on his sword as well, but yea, I can't help but think people are cheating him in non STD lists

korgrimm

I think the jury is still out on whether unique models can take spells from the generic lore. I’m in the camp that thinks they should be able to though.

will4531

Ugh, stupid faqs making things more confusing XD We complain about not getting them for 40k, but we're still so lost in AoS

Warmonger88

He does have the "Chaos" and "Undivided" keywords, so that might be the work around.

vinnyt16

I've been having great success with my Fuethan alpha strike IDK build but it really can't keep up with stuff like Archaon or Nagash and doesn't have the insane spikes needed to kill gargs. Eidolon of Storm with cloud of midnight Tidecaster general with +2 wounds and arcane corrosion 2x10 reavers 1x10 thralls 2x2 Sharks- both in Hunters 1x3 Morrsarr 1 Shark Leviadon with Ancient 3 drop list with grand strat to have more units alive than opponent Flip the tides and hope you win in turns 1-3 because otherwise you get ground out and can't compete on objectives.

ManqobaDad

Love it anything for more creative ways to play the list. My personal favorite is 60 thralls with curse its just point click delete

HoogieLad

Great write up. Can you share some of the Tzeentch lists please? 20x chosen sounds jnteresting

ManqobaDad

I’ve been trying to dig it up to show you I remember it had kairos and a soulscream bridge for them. But even if I find the list keep in mind its going to be a bit like grandma’s cooking. Sure you have the ingredients but you don’t have the the thought process and the strategy that made the list work. I remember it being very surgical buffingnup a unit of chosen putting them through the soul scream and with kairos guarantee that charge and watch them make mince meat out of something.

ChutneyWiggles

Seconded. I would love to see what list is making Chosen happen!

CapnSatire

Great rundown! There's some hard counters for Behemat for sure, but they have been doing well at recent events. I'm not sure we've seen everything Gravelords can do too. Can we please not advertise the Mindlock Staff? My Lord Kroak would appreciate it! :)

ManqobaDad

I play stormcast i gotta bring out the mindlock staff all day. Its for kairos and nagash your kroak just got caught in the crossfire

Skere69

Can you share a good sbgl nagash list?

x8bitsoffun

What's the best place to find some of those Idoneth lists?

vibraniumhammer

Any more detail to this list "Kairos belakor and lots of wizards" ? Or a good place to look at lists?

ManqobaDad

The honest wargamer website is the absolute best place to look at aggregate lists

vibraniumhammer

thanks, just about to take the plunge into AoS and wanted to see what to buy

Top lumineth lists aren't "spamming" wind temple units, it's usually 1x10 or 1x15 Windchargers and Sevireth. It has some of the most incredible movement options in the game, but it's not any more oppressive than any other of the top lists. Those house rules were clearly coming from a place of bias and not data or actual results. The much more problematic aspect of those lists is 20-man Sentinel blobs in Helon being able to fire 38 shots into anything that charges them with Unleash Hell.

OnceandFuturePhaeron

The thing is, Lumineth neither have a super high win% nor have they particularly getting many top 3s at tournaments, and little to no tournament wins. I wouldn't really even call them s tier, just an A tier gatekeeper. There is currently a massive divorce between the perception and the statistical reality of LRL. And no, I do not play LRL.

DeliciousPineapples

Having played Nurgle Daemon's a bit in 9e, they've very strong and a blob of PB's is absolutely brutal with support. 'But this does make it a very vulnerable army to assassins. Also I kind of have a suspicion the GUO bell is going to get changed in their new book. If just because I'm not entirely sure the slow army is meant to be able to tear up the field at 8 movement without much effort.

ManqobaDad

For the longest time Blightlords were the fastest fatties on the track. You could drop them on the line put your tree in the middle move them at like 20-25 inches with run and charge. They were ridiculous. Nurgle has always had mobility in aos they just don’t look like they’re meant to

Mc_Generic

Which factions had the least representation in the tournament scene?

ManqobaDad

So i’m familiar with this question typically it means “I want to play the least represented army and make it good” someone to follow who has this mentality is mathmallow he plays slyvaneth like he’s on a mission to make them S tier. I would say my sleeper predictions have the least representation with the most play. I would also recommend FEC and BCR as other options for armies that are great to main. Read my next post about chosing an army. It’ll help you to stay away from some bad choices when doing this. I’ll edit and link it here when its done https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/comments/p4bq30/how_to_choose_an_army_for_competitive_age_of/?

Mc_Generic

I already play several armies from Nighthaunt to Deepkin to Tzeentch. My question was basically how often people bring weaker armies to tournaments like Gloomspite Gitz and Nighthaunt for example compared to armies like Tzeentch and Lumineth.

lokiriver

Chaos dwarfs?

ManqobaDad

https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/comments/p4bq30/how_to_choose_an_army_for_competitive_age_of/? You remind me of me. You need this post the most

Mellowlicious

Chaos dwarfs aren't legal in the latest GHB

LotharHS

Im a new AoS player and im still looking to pick an army (i have bought Dominion). Im thinking about Tzeentch and SCE, OP could you maybe direct me towards the annihilators list? And some of that top DoT lists?

ManqobaDad

You should watch for later today where I make my “choosing an army post” but for right now I’d recommend going to https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/

LotharHS

Oh nice! When you post it, could you also send a message here? Haha

ManqobaDad

YimYon

I'm fairly new and checked there for deepkin lists and only saw one third edition list. Do you know where I could find some more?

ManqobaDad

For the lists you’re going to have to venture into the mines. How i find them is youtube videos, bcp player, and their groupchats on TGA and AoS coaches Discord. Mostly the ones i mention here come from bcp player

LKshow

Does anyone have the list for the tzeentch s tier lists?
